Was reading through the last HFTAF thread, and thought it would be amusing to brainstorm up a boardgame for actually playing within the universe. Players select a somewhat generic class, their hella funtime friends, then alternate setting actions for their team while trying not to starve or go mad. Combination of D6 and cards. Here's what I came up with-
http://www.mediafire.com/?yy3p93aq9mz330y

This sound the slightest bit entertaining or possibly fun? And why wouldn't anyone choose spiderbro for one of their friends?

That actually sounds like a really fun party game.

I like the idea of having a deck of cards to draw from for events and stuff. I can see it being hilarious as a one-shot session where nobody takes role-playing entirely seriously.
>>
Gwen and Murray. I'll teach Gwen martial arts or something so she can defend herself (read: us) with her diamond powers. In case of emergency I'll have Gwen whack me over the head with a club to knock me unconscious so Murray can come save us. Also I assume that the King of Diamonds' immortality will immunize me to Gwen's diamond-shenanigans.

I just hope he doesn't get too upset when he learns that his daughter has turned gay for her new immortal servant.

Something I think that should be added in regarding Paul. If he isn't one of your buddies you need to pay for his services, if you try to take his shit by force he'll eventually pack up and leave the island when you leave his presence. You can't ever find out his method of leaving the island, even if you have someone watching him all day. If you kill him his supplies will vanish.

>Rival

--
>Day 1
I am doomed. After being stranded in this strange land by forces unknown, I have encountered my "Hella Funtime Adventure Friends", who consist of an insane zombie hobo and a giant pile of floating limbs. Attempts to communicate have gone poorly, the zobo keeps mumbling about "Restarting my poppyseed horse". I've had more success with the other one, she can at least understand me, but refuses to actually speak. May try written communication tomorrow. I do not foresee myself surviving for four years.
--
>Day 10
Note to self: Do not eat anything provided by Ark Meteo. Stomach still hurts and my tongue has committed suicide. Will not encourage Fordee to replicate this.
--
>Day 366
Got a surprising answer from Ark Meteo when I asked what good he was. Apparently for every year I survive, he can answer one question perfectly clearly to whoever asks. After confirming I had used up my question (he answered "Borscht" so I'm assuming I have), I beat my head against a rock until Fordee stopped me. Next year, I'm asking where we can find a safe place to live.
>Day 799
Hell yeah, we finally got rid of Gwendolyn! I ran distraction while Fordee snuck behind and finally grabbed the stuck-up bitch. Boy, you should have heard her scream! Anyway, she tried doing her bullshit diamond hand thing, but Fordee beat her to the punch. We've got a nice diamond statue now, though I'm gonna have to avoid hi-fiving Fordee for a couple days. May trade the statue to Mamon for those cool glow-in-the-dark vampire teeth, but haven't decided
>>
>>19449182
>Day 1112
God damn it. GOD MOTHERFUCKING DAMN IT! I should have known it wasn't safe. Everybody's been talking about the King of Diamonds and how he's been tearing up the island looking for his daughter. Guess Gwen found a way to fuck us from beyond the grave. It happened when Fordee and I went out foraging, we'd decided to move our camp to a safer location and we needed more food for the trip. All of a sudden, this giant blue motherfucker comes tearing through the trees, screaming about his daughter and how he's gonna eat us. We tried running, but we couldn't lose him. I ended up tripping over a tree root and twisting my ankle. I told Fordee I was a goner and to run for it, try to get away while he was busy with me. She just gave me that blank stare of hers and then rocketed off, heading straight for the King. I don't know what happened next, one minute Fordee's pounding on the King's face while he keeps taking huge bites out of her, the next both of them are engulfed in this huge black sphere, leaving behind nothing but a crater. Ark Meteo hasn't said anything since I got back. I don't understand how losing someone who never talked makes everything seem so quiet.
--
>Day 1113
I made her a headstone today. It's a bit weird and uneven-looking, but I think she'd appreciate it.
--
>Day 1114
I asked Ark Meteo why she did it. It was probably a stupid use of a question, but I don't care, I need to know. He just looked at me and said, "You were her friend."

1- Shes evil so I really doubt that one
2- I could easliy slay Clay in a non-fair fight
>>
>>19449397
So you can't be a lesbian and evil? The hell? I'm not saying Gwen is a lesbian, I'd be happy both ways, but saying that she can't be a lesbian because she's evil makes no fucking sense. You alignment does not affect your sexuality. Also would you really need to fight Caly? Just wait a year and she'll die from the curse. If it's an unfair fight tipped in your favor then you can beat just about anything unless the opponent has some serious hax or skill.

Partner 1: Calymure
Partner 2: Kenny

Calymure would teach me the various finer points of being a hero (fighting, survival skills, etc) and protect me for the first year. After finding Kenny and having him join us we would travel around with no specific base having adventures, fighting bad guys and helping people. Classic fun. This would hopefully provide Kenny and I with enough training and resources to set out on a quest to bring Calymure back after the first year ends.

Rival would be Doldorf... because it seems like beating him would be a possible avenue for bringing back Calymure.

Oh Boy, I'm going insane aren't I? I assume Bismark is not actually existent, and my rival is my own mind. I'm not the sort who'd end up losing Rolf to the cruelty clause, but I have to hope Gwendolyn is incapable of banishing him through her own cruelty. I do hate warm temperatures, so I'll end up doing my best to appease the fickle princess just so she stays around to act as air conditioning. Might try to get her to play games with me and Rolf, and, if necessary, horribly throw matches in her favor. With that in mind, I'd need to pick some multiplayer games, but I'd probably wait to see what she'd like before getting Rolf to summon them. End game "winning" immortality and being forced into Gwen's service isn't too appealing, but if it happens, it happens. I'm not going to get her killed to avoid it.

It's good that I get a noncombat rival to match my hilariously noncombat friends.

I just have to hope Omeo can't establish a psyhic link without getting blood first. If such is the case, I just have to keep him from getting any to start with. Easier said than done, I guess. My "friend" Coily is as likely to gank me as my rival, so I'll have to do something to convince her that I don't smell that nice and there are plenty of better things to lick. Maybe Bastion will bring something I can use to distract her... but not likely for four years. I see myself losing a body part before she learns self control, which would be all sorts of trouble if Omeo can get the blood from it to commence the mind raping.

Still rolling.

Well, hmm. There's actually a bit of flavor potential here. Luckily Audrey won't be causing any jealousy issues with Crimseleno, and can provide food and healing. Crimseleno might be more willing to help fight our rival without requiring too much bribery, considering her identity. The magic immunity will be very helpful, since getting close myself might result in an exploded head. I wonder if something can be done to restore Crimseleno if we defeat Mildred. I also wonder if it would be really worth it, since we'd be pretty lacking in firepower afterwards.

Bastion? Seriously? I don't even have to do anything, except accepting the loss of whatever trinkets I can find, I guess. No-Heart is nice, I guess, but incredibly useless unless I find myself between Lazarus and Dragunov. Might save one of the cakes for when the King of Diamonds appears. Luckily, I have a winter birthday so it should still be decently fresh on his arrival. I'm not a fan of hugs, but I'm not likely to do anything evil, so Kazoo should be fine.

I have terrible rivals. Really. I can't really do anything about Hellrider, he seems like he's better suited for a rival. Lilium made me have to google "butterfly kisses", and I'm not sure how much that would actually raise my morale. I'm not really capable of doing anything to stop Lilium, so I'll probably meet my end at her hands from bloodloss.

M'kay. Audry will provide a constant, if insubstantial and random, source of fruit. No scurvy for me then. Grimsby can easily build the house and anything else needed, as well as explain anything necessary about the game. Not really sure what mechanics I'm misunderstanding though... Food will be a problem, specially with Grimsby, so constant hunting/fishing. Thankfully though, Audry doesn't eat due to being a plant, but because of Grimsby I have to feed three people anyway.

Lilium poses a problem though. Everyone can easily be my enemy because of her, so she'll be throwing crap loads of people at me boosted by her kiss. Each day, another ass hole trying to wreck me. Vehemently need to avoid her, or else she'll tell me to walk off a cliff or something.

I guess Paul counts as my rival only because I intend to claim Doldorf's wizard powers? I guess that's fine. I just ride the Narwolf around and try to keep out of trouble, maybe occasionally make raids on the noodle stand for food (I mean, if he's already my rival). I can't say four years with Doldorf is ideal, but an end-game of wizards powers certainly is. I don't know, maybe he'll get good enough at the bagpipes or I'll get good enough at ignoring them. Wizard powers are probably useful enough to justify his annoyances, even before I can claim them myself.

My head was pounding, my whole body ached, and I couldn't even seem to muster up the energy to peel my eyelids open. What did I do last night? I remember getting out of work, going to the bar...
I felt a sharp pain in my neck, groaned, and slapped at the offending area weakly. Suddenly, I heard a feminine voice coo in something I couldn't distinguish between surprise and arousal. "Ooh, he's awake," she said.
From the other side of me, I heard a sigh.
Slowly, I forced my eyes open, and was shocked by three things. First, I apparently passed out outside, because the sun had just barely come up over the horizon, starting to snuff out the light of the twinkling stars above. Second and third were the two women on either side of me, who knelt beside my resting place and watched me with differing degrees of interest. To the left was some sort of party girl in a tiny dress and a devil costume, who gave me a smile that was too wide-eyed and innocent to be genuine. To the right, A cute girl, a bit younger than me, with short hair and a tank top looked down at me with what looked like resignation.
"I'm glad you're up! You were asleep for a long time. I'm Lilium," said the devil girl, breathily.
"He would have woken up sooner if you weren't sucking all his blood while he was out!" responded the girl on the right.
"Wha...whaat?" was my well-articulated response.
Lilium shot the girl on the right a dirty look. "That's Rori," Lilium continued, still giving the impression with her tone of someone who was told to act sexy but wasn't quite sure how it was supposed to work. "You hate her, darling."
>>
>>19451914 (cont)
It took me a moment to realize she was talking to me. "I...I do? I asked, my throat feeling cracked and dry. I swallowed and sat up, my head spinning. Just what did I do last night? Lilium was introducing herself to me as if we'd never met, but was calling me darling, and I was afraid I had done something to offend Rori. "No, no that's not right. I don't hate you. Uh, if I said something like that, I apologize..."
Rori looked away and took a deep breath. It was hard to tell in the pre-dawn light, but she seemed to be blushing. "Pick three games, you...you big butt," she said.
"Three games?" I asked, still trying to get the world to stop spinning.
"He's not the brightest player, is he?" asked Lilium.
"It's always hard for a new player to get their bearings," Rori responded.
I scratched an itch on my neck and came back with blood on my fingers. "Did...did you really suck my blood?"
Lilium sighed. "You have been chosen, brave player-" she began.
"Dan," I responded, "but..."
She nodded, and continued, sounding very much like a prerecorded menu for a phone sex line. "You have been chosen, brave Dan, for four years of Hella Funtime Adventures. On this remote island, many strange and unique characters make their home. Two of them have been designated your friends, and one has been designated your enemy. All have unique skills that could help you survive or cut your life short."
I rubbed my stinging neck with one hand and my aching forehead with the other. "But did you really suck my blood?"
>>
>>19451925 (cont)
Lilium nodded. "My power is to trade your blood for the ability to control...humans. Rori's is to produce two handheld, self-powered video game consoles and three games of your choice, and to play them with you." She glares at Rori again. "Don't worry though, this vile fiend will return to her world if you treat her cruelly."
"So...So pick, you uhm, dumb guy," Rori continued.
My head was not getting any better and this was apparently not going to stop, so I decided at that moment that playing along was probably preferable to the alternative. "Uh. Pokemon. White and black and uh...soul silver? We can trade and battle and stuff."
Rori was definitely blushing at this point. She shot me a small smile, but said, "like I would ever trade with you. You butt."
"Is that part of your power too," I asked, my head clearing a little. "You hafta insult me or something?"
>>
>>19451952 (cont)
"No, darling," Lilium responded, putting her hand to my cheek and forcing my head to face her. "That's because she's your enemy. Remember? I'm your friend. That's how you rolled. Don't worry though, dear, I can make her go away."
"Wait, what? No don't do-" I started to say, but by the time I turned back around to face Rori, her eyes were glossed over and dead-looking. She rose swayingly to her feet, dropped a gameboy in my lap, and wandered off into the woods. I tried to climb to my feet to snap her out of it, but got dizzy and fell back down. The amount of blood Lilium evidently drank was distressing. "Ugh," I intoned. "If she was my enemy, who's my other friend? you said I have two."
"Say 'Jeansman' three times," she responded.

>>
My head spun when I sat up from my sleeping bag and the dizziness pushed me back down on my back. The bright noontime sun shone through that hole at the top of my tent. I groaned. Waking late in wasn't supposed to feel this bad.

<Sorry,> said Lilium through Omeo's telepathic link. <But you know I need it.>

I sent the equivalent of a sigh through the link. <Don't worry,> I said. <I think I can take a few more nights. We just need to find someone else for you and Omeo feed on.>

<Lucky day,> said Omeo. <This one scouted. Humans nearby. Camp of three. Will be easy. Are distracted with "vidya".>

After I ate my iron-rich liver 'n' beans breakfast, we sneaked to the other camp and stalked their thoughts while they played. It only took an hour for us to come up with a plan.

(Cut out the diary and camp because I'm writing the diary here and don't feel like drawing the camp)

>Journal: Day 1
So after all my day-dreaming of waking up in a strange land far away from home, it really isn't turning out like I imagined. Big surprise, right? First thing I never thought of was how unnerving it can be to wake up in a place you didn't go to sleep. And not like I had been drinking the night before and didn't remember where I ended up crashing. I definitely remember going to sleep in MY bed. But here I am, in a strange land that I have NO idea where it is in relation to, well, anywhere. I'm on an island, but that's about it when it comes to what I know about this place.

It's not all bad news though. I appeared here with some supplies. Not nearly enough to live here (where ever here IS) comfortably, but I'm sure they'll make my visit easier. I'm also not alone. When I woke up, I found that I had been 'assigned' (by who? no idea) a 'Hella Friend'. He says his name is Bones, which makes sense, because that's all he seems to be. A literal bag of bones. He's quite friendly though and has been willing to do what I tell him. Don't really have many orders for him, since I'm still disoriented, but he's still helpful.
>>
>>19452291
"Hey!" I said out loud as Lilium entered the gamers' clearing. Omeo stayed in the woods, hidden.

The gamers took a few seconds to react.

<Saving their games,> explained Omeo. My palm twitched and I fought the urge to slap my forehead.

Finally, the gamers dropped their consoles and armed themselves with sharpened stakes. "What do you want?" asked the one named Rolf.

"My friend and I would like to trade," I said. "She eats blood, you see, and I'm kinda running out."

They gripped their improvised weapons tighter and Omeo relayed their fear to me. But amidst the fear, the one named Rori thought it was romantic.

"Look," I said, "It won't kill you. Your body resupplies itself with blood anyway. Whatever you get out of this trade is free."

As gamers, they crunched the numbers and admitted it was a good deal. Perfect. I laughed my best evil laugh into the telepathic link.
>>
>>19452400
With Omeo reading their minds, it was easy to reach a trading impasse. After minutes of arguing, they were frustrated and wanted nothing more than to return to their gaming.

"What if we played a game for this stuff?" suggested Lilium according to plan. "If we win, I get one days worth of blood from you guys. If you win, you get some of our food.

"What?" I said in mock surprise.

"Well, you told me that you were gamer," she said. "Shouldn't you be good at this stuff if you've played that much?"

"You're on!" said Rolf, thinking that this was the perfect moment to seize.

Rori and Anon argued between themselves, but eventually came to the same conclusion. Best of five, winner take all.

>Journal: Day 2
Found a decent enough place to set up camp last night and started to get a bit settled in. I've always fantasized about living outside society, but I'm already missing the amenities I once had. That feeling of general safety for one. I haven't seen anything really dangerous so far, but Bones has let me know that there will be dangers on the island. Some of my tools might be useful for defense, but since I have a skeleton buddy, I have a feeling they won't be of much use against certain dangers.

I've mainly been asking Bones all he knows about this island and my situation and so far it doesn't look too bright. He seems to have memory problems or something, because he was unsure about certain details. Like why I only had one Friend. Apparently, we (there are other people here?) are supposed to have a couple friends (2? 3? not sure) and a rival. I only seem to have one. Bones says some may be invisible or don't appear all the time, but he can't remember which ones. So I MIGHT be screwed over before the four years begin. Yeah, I'm supposed to survive here for four years, which some big, bad things happening at certain times. Bones, not surprisingly, doesn't remember what those things are or when they happen, just that they will do so at set times. I'm also supposed to have a rival as well, but maybe I'm lucky didn't get one due to a possibly missing friend. I'm not going to count on it though.
>>
>>19452502
>Journal: Day 3
Will try to keep these entries shorter. I don't want to run out of paper.

Mainly went around scouting the area. Thankfully, there are possible food sources, but they aren't as easy as opening the fridge to put together a sandwich. Bones is pretty much worthless when it comes to advice, but he'll help me do pretty much anything. So I'm not totally doomed.

>Journal: Day 7
First week I've been here and it's not really getting too much easier. No sign of any other Friends or a rival. I have seen signs of other people and animals, but haven't bumped into any yet. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Pretty tired most of the time and feeling worn out. Hopefully my body will get used to this life as time goes on.

>Journal: Day 11
Finally met someone while out getting food. He had some snake chick and a large cyclops with him. Thankfully he was friendly and willing to trade some food with me. He seemed to have been more prepared or something than me, because he was able to hunt with his bow. Don't know what kind of meat he gave me, but it's nice to eat something other than whatever plants I can find and not get sick from. Definitely with that water bottle.
>>
>>19452412
It was too easy. With Omeo reading their minds, we knew all the right moves. The hard part was looking like we were about to lose every now and then.

After the victory, we merged our camp and Lilium alternated feeding on the three gamers for a week. Omeo kept himself hidden, but Lilium and I joined him every morning as we foraged for more supplies and patrolled the area.

By the end of the week, the gamers didn't want us to leave. Since we shared some of our supplies for them and actually did physical labor, they didn't mind the blood tax at all. We could have merged into one giant supercamp.

But after reading their minds, we decided that we had to move on. It was dangerous to for Omeo sleep alone every night and an awkward confrontation regarding his telepathic snooping could undo the goodwill we earned.

One day later, as we were setting up a new camp, I asked Omeo the same question I had after every Hella Funtime Adventure. <Does Lilium think I'm virtuous yet?>

This time, his answer was different. <Yes.>

End.

(Fuck yeah, mind control)

>Journal: Day 12
I'm not feeling that good. Must have been that meat I had. I definitely need to prepare my food better from now on. I can't do much though and I have no idea how to preserve food at all. I'll need to figure that out if I want to survive. I sent Bones out to get food for me today. I'll just try and take it easy, hopefully get better.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bones hasn't come back yet and it's dark. I'm starting to get really anxious. If something happened to him and I'm coming down with something serious, this might be it for me. I'd like to think I can accept my death calmly, but I don't want to die like this. I need to settle down though, otherwise my anxiety will just make my condition worse.

>Journal: Day 13
Bones is dead. Destroyed. Moved on. Gone. Whatever. I went out looking for him, sickness be damned. I found his body after searching for a bit, crumpled up on the ground. He must have been attacked while he was getting me food. I only knew him for about two weeks, but I miss him. A lot. I'm really starting to lose hope right now.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh thank whatever gods rule this damned island, Bones is back. I brought his body back to my camp, figuring I'd bury him nearby. Before I got around to doing it though, he suddenly resurrected or reanimated I guess. I was so happy to see that clanky bastard moving again. Apparently he isn't easy to permanently kill. That could be very useful, but after today I'd rather not send him to his death again and again. It just wouldn't feel right.

Damn, two weeks in and I'm worrying over a bag of bones.

I can't believe it, but there's a fucking noodle shop on the beach. What the hell is a noodle shop doing on this island? I decided to range a bit farther yesterday and headed off to the beach. I was hoping to look for... something useful. The delta of a river, a boat, more people, I don't know. Never expected a noodle shop though.

The guy who runs it is called Paul. Apparently he's another Hella Friend that someone has. I try not to think about what if I had two Friends. Bones has been great company so far. It's so much easier for me with him around. Anyway, I was able to pay/barter for a meal with some of the wild food I had with me. It's nice to have a meal like that again. Makes me miss microwaved leftovers even.

There were other people there as well, with their Friends tagging along. Seems a good a spot as any to gather, since we all were happy to get some easy food. There are all sorts of Friends on this island. Everything from vicious looking beasts to floating pink balls. I talked with some and we mostly just discussed our time on the island so far. Most of it I could relate to: Waking up suddenly on the Island, figuring out what your Friends are capable of, adjusting to this place, finding food, getting sick off some of the food. A couple people say they've had run ins with a hostile 'player' who was looking to take whatever they had. I'm guessing it's the same one who attacked Bones about a week ago. Some of us talked about teaming up to survive, but it would be hard for us to support a group right now. Perhaps later when we've all figured out a way to survive.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
(Cont)
>>
>>19456580
Set up camp with some of the others near the noodle shop. Not everyone who was here earlier stayed, mainly because they couldn't keep buying food from Paul. But those of us who are still here decided to camp the night together. There are six other guys and two girl players, though the Friends are varied. One was some grumpy princess looking chick whose exasperated player told us to just ignore. Another one was the pink puffball I mentioned it earlier. It shat out marshmellows for everyone. Yeah.

It seems like working together might be really beneficial for everyone. We'd need to find a stable food supply and a good location, but with all of us and our friends working together, we could possibly make it through the four years.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Just saw something really weird. We were all gathered around a fire enjoying the company of other people when we saw this dim light out on the beach. It looked like the faint glow of something, definitely not a strong light source. One of the guys said he'd seen it before. Apparently it's some floating jellyfish thing. At that Bones spoke up to me suddenly. That's my rival apparently. It's name is Carrion or Carron. It seems harmless enough, but reminds me too much of a will o' wisp. I'm not going anywhere near it if it might have it out for me. Nobody else was curious enough to check it out closer and so we just ignored it for the rest of the night.

The beach seems less safe for me now.

>Friends: Pico, Carron
>Rival: Skizzo Bros

I have no idea where I am or how I got here. The last thing I remember is- well, I'm not quite sure what the last thing I remember is. Must have had a wild night of partying. Maybe I got drugged? A prank? I can't even begin to rake my mind for an answer.

I woke up with sand in my mouth, face-down on a beach I've never seen before. If I wasn't so baffled as to how I got here I might appreciate the beauty of it. The shoreline extends as far as I can see into the horizon, and strange plants I've never seen before dot the landscape.
For whatever reason, a large knapsack seems to have washed up on the shore beside me.

The panic hadn't set in yet. Okay, whatever- I'd just call somebody and find out what happened. I calmy reached into my pocket and pulled out my cellphone. I'm not sure what kind of message I intended to relay- but it didn't matter. No reception.

After dejectedly pocketing my cellphone, I examined the contents of the discarded bag. Why the hell not? It contained the notebook which I am currently writing in, a canteen, a compass, and a book with the word "RULES" embossed on the cover.

I also met a giant potato that won't stop following me and never shuts up.
>>
>>19457083
Apparently, this creature had been waiting for me for quite some time. Apparently her(?) name is Pico. It seems to be a chubby, flightless bird of some kind with disturbingly human facial features. It can speak, but I really wish it wouldn't. It reponds to some of my questions, but mostly it just makes senseless noise for what I assume is the hell of it.

Pico is convinced that we are in fact, best friends.

--------
I've been here for two days, and Pico still won't stop following me. I hadn't eaten anything since I came to this strange island, so in my desperation I decided to venture into the jungle in search of something edible- my pudgy partner in tow.

After being subject to trekking through thorny plants and harrassed by tropical insects, I found an enourmous fruit tree. Took about half an hour to finally climb and pick a bunch of the fruits- but to my dismay they were underripe and hard as rocks. Pico was hooting the entire time.

The levity of my situation began to sink in for the first time since arriving here. My stomach felt like it was eating itself. "I don't suppose you have anything to eat, do you?" I skeptically asked my irritating companion. Pico immediately barfed up a pile of fried chicken wings and resumed hooting and dancing.

They were delicious. I'm not questioning it.

>Journal: Day 23
Packed up my stuff today and will move out from the beach. I can't afford to pay for Paul's noodles for much longer and there isn't any close supply of food. I'm also worried about my rival. It seemed pretty far off, but I know how these things work. Each night it's closer and closer until I'm following it out of my tent one night in a daze to sleep with it beneath the waves. So I bid farewell to my new friends and their Friends. Hopefully we can meet up here again once we are more settled into the island.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Met someone on the way back to where my old camp was. He looked worse than anyone I'd seen so far. He only had one friend with him as well(!), but it turns out he just had one that doesn't appear during the day. Unfortunately he was attacked during the day by some large lizard thing. I haven't encountered anything of the sort and I hope I don't. Sounds like a nasty predator. I let him know where to find the noodle shop since it looked like he could use a place to rest. He thanked me profusely and handed me a fruit in thanks. Said his one Friend (who he was carrying, some kind of plant person) grows them for him. Had a twinge of jealousy, but I can't stay mad at Bones. He may not be able to grow fruit from his body, but he still gets food for me without much trouble. Six of one, half a dozen of another.

>Journal: Day 30
Been here a month apparently. Feels longer than that. Like a lifetime etc. etc. Cliches aside, my old life does seem so long ago. Just sitting here with bones, looking up at the sky and hoping it will rain sometime soon. My water bottles are all empty and one of the containers of peanut butter is practically done. Food isn't that much of a problem yet (although I could use more protein in my diet), but water is. I need to find a source of water rather than relying on rainfall. Otherwise I'll die of thirst long before any nasty critters get me.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Rain is coming! I'm no weather expert, but I've seen rain clouds enough to know when we'll get nature's showers. Which reminds me that I should probably use the rain for just that. I'll set up my bottles to collect water then wait for the rain to come so I can clean myself off. Modesty seems a little quaint on place like this, but it's something I guess I cling to. Getting clean after a month trumps modesty though, this time at least.

>Journal: Day 31
It didn't rain that much where I was at. Damn it. I sat naked in my tent, waiting for the rain to start really coming down so I could clean myself off some, but it just drizzled for a while then cleared up. So I'm just as dirty as I was before and feel silly for sitting ass-naked next to a skeleton for an hour. At least I got some fresh water out of it, so I won't get too thirsty for the next couple days. Will still have to conserve what I have though.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I met that hunter fellow again later on in the day. We traded some of our food again. I asked him what was he gave me last time and he said it was some native pig or boar. No wonder eating that raw messed me up. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be exactly like pork because from what little I know, raw pig will make you seriously sick. I'm making sure to cook what I have now rather than just scarfing it down.

I told the hunter about the noodle shop in thanks for trading food with me fairly so far. He said he'd check it out, but by the looks of it, he doing quite well for himself. He said he'd check it out and I let him know other people like us seem to gather there. If people actually start banding together, I'm sure he'd be a valuable person to have with us. Really seems to know his stuff.

>Journal: Day 32
I feel like this island is toying with me. I was out getting more food as usual with Bones when storm clouds sweep in and rain starts coming down. I started off back towards my camp right away with Bones in tow, hoping to make the best of this sudden shower. Not before my clothes get decently wet though, which is pretty annoying. As soon as I got back, I stripped down and hung my clothes up on my tent the best I could. If they're already wet, might as well clean them too. Bones put what food we found in the tent to keep dry, I think that'll make sure it keeps longer, but I could be wrong. Not that I'll last long with the way I go through food here.

Anyway, I start making the most of the rain, setting up the bottles again and drinking all the water I can before going about cleaning myself. I couldn't really do much without any kind of soup, so I just kinda stood there rubbing dirt off myself.

Of COURSE that's when I bump into another person on this damned island. I don't know how long she was standing there watching, but I must have been a sight. Some scrawny guy naked in the rain, rubbing himself all over (and admittedly a little intimately at times) with a skeleton in a bag walking around helping him out with things. I don't think I've ever been that red in the face throughout my entire life. She just seemed amused by it, so I tried to play it off as best I could, which isn't nearly as well as I would have liked. She (like everyone else but me) had two Friends tagging along, some beholder like thing, which made me uncomfortable (well more uncomfortable) with it's staring, and an oddly colored werewolf or wolfman.

We talked a bit, me still naked, her in a poncho (lucky). She had been doing about as well as any of us, which is to say generally scraping by. Her friends made it easy to hunt for meat, which she was happy to give some to me. I offered her some of the fruit and veggies I had, but she declined. So I let her know about the noodle shop and where to find it. She was interested in hearing that, as she apparently hadn't run into any other players but me. She did run into another one of those reptile things (or maybe it was the same one), but her Friends made it a lot easier to defend herself. Sounds like it spits acid and can regenerate wounds. Just great.

She eventually left, letting me know she'd leave me to continue what I was doing. She said she hoped we met again and gave me a wink as she went off. I damn well know what that wink could mean, but I honestly don't feel like I'm lucky enough for it to be that. Probably just her assuming I was in the middle of something more than cleaning off. She wouldn't be entirely wrong.

>Journal: Day 43
It's been a while since I wrote in here. Over a week by the looks of it. Nothing interesting has really happened. I'm not sure if I should be thankful or not of that. I bumped into the hunter guy two more times as well as people coming or going to the noodle stand. Word is getting around slowly I guess. I traded with some of the others for food, since nobody is willing to give up their precious tools. I don't blame them.

Nearby food is getting more scarce. At least in terms of stuff I can get from plants. I still haven't tried to catch any of the wildlife, I'd doubt I'd know how. But me and anyone else in the area is starting to over-gather from this area. I'll probably need to move and find a better area. Which means going through potentially dangerous woodlands. I'm not looking forward toshit
shit shit shit
I heard something outside. I don't know what. I need to check it out. Shit it better not be that fucking lizard.

>Journal: Day 47
Okay. I can get back to writing. I think I lost them, but I can't be sure. That fucking bird is a nuisance to hide from.

right, I haven't explained what happened. It wasn't that lizard. It was another player. The same damn player I've heard about. He was the one that jumped Bones that one time. I'd make the fucker pay if I could, but it's too risky. So right now I'll try and avoid him.

I guess if anyone were to read this, I'd need to better explain myself. Let you know what happened. I doubt anyone will read this, it's probably just for my own comfort.

So right, I heard noises and went out to investigate, Bones right behind me. It was getting dark and I had my glasses off (stupid of me) so I couldn't see that well. But I ended up seeing it well enough. Fucking basilisk thing. I froze up as soon as I look into it's eyes. Those fucking eyes. I've heard about being frozen in fear, but that wasn't what happened. I was jumpy as hell and against anything else I would have done... something. Instead I felt like I couldn't move. Just, paralyzed in place. Looking back, it was exactly what they wanted me to do.

I was just standing there, ax useless in my hand against the hypnotic gaze as I hear something quickly moving up towards me. Bones, gods bless his bony soul, warned me to watch out (which I naturally couldn't do) and pushed me down, breaking the spell of the Eyes. I still felt stiff, but I could move, even if it was more effort than it should have been. The effect was wearing off fast though, which saved my life. I looked up at bones to see him take a club to the skull, knocking it clean off. The other player had some sort of makeshift club he brought along with him. I don't remember exactly what it was, it all happened so fast. I yelled out to Bones as I saw him crumple again from this guy (I'm fucking sure it was the same guy) and lashed out with my ax. It was a pretty clumsy blow, but he wasn't defending against me because I felt the blade hit him. Nothing serious, but it sounded like it hurt. I scrambled away from him and his fucking snake Friend and got to my feet. I also made sure not to look into the Eyes again, I wasn't going to die here.

(Cont)
>>
>>19458832
(Cont)

Was hard, since the snake lunged at me, fangs bared and everything. I lashed out again and felt the ax bite flesh another time. The snake hissed angrily but backed off to its player, both of them now sporting wounds. I just stood there, adreneline pumping through me, not sure what to do. They made the first move and thankfully it was to beat a tactical retreat. I doubt I had seriously hurt them, but I guess they saw that I wasn't helpless and that caused them to back off. They would be back, I was sure of it. And that's when I started to become aware of that damned bird. During the couple blows that were struck all I heard was my blood pounding in my ears and the hiss of that snake thing. But now I could hear that bird just taunting me. Telling me I was dead, that they would finish me off, that my Friend was gone. I told it to fuck off, but it just laughed and flew off with it's player.

I wasn't going to stick around. I immediately packed up my camp, grabbed Bones' body and headed off into the night. I headed off across the fields to the noodle shop, hoping to find safety in numbers, but I never got there.

I slept under the stars and woke up to the sound of that bird again. He had found me and was yelling, giving away my position. Bones was still 'dead' so I had to carry him along with my stuff, but I couldn't see the other player. The wounds I gave him and his snake must be slowing him down. But he knew where I was and was probably coming to finish me off. Maybe just because I had humiliated him. I don't know and don't care. I just wanted to get away from him and his fucking Friends.

(Cont)
>>
>>19458904
(cont)

So I was on the run the last few days. Bones reanimated again, and we grabbed what food we could. But the bird stopped following me. Or at least I haven't heard him. Which is good enough for me. Maybe the guy gave up, maybe I lost him. Either way I hope his wound gets infected and he dies horribly. Bones seems to hold no ill will towards the guy, but I don't know if he hasn't just forgotten him.

So if any of you find this Journal, watch out for this the fucker with a snake and bird. He's hostile and will probably try to off you.

I'm not going to write any more for this entry, I'm just going to rest and try to get my bearings. I want to be able to get back to the noodle stand if I need to.

Made it to the noodle stand. Looks like some people are making permanent camp here. Paul's player probably is, but maybe some others can survive here too. I'm just glad it's safer here. I think. I hope its safer here.

I saw some people that were here when I visited before. Among them was the girl I met under less than ideal circumstances. I gave her what I hope was a neutral 'Hey' and she gave me a friendly 'Hi' back. I didn't really strike up a conversation though and just excused myself to go get some noodles. Id like to contribute this to the setting.

Imagine you are spending your day surviving as usual, its been what, one year? two? hard to tell. Anyway, you have a better grip on surviving now, and are accustomed to the more unusual aspects of the island.

.... like that one player that will randomly zoom by, fighting his rival at top speeds seemingly all across the island.

You wonder if he ever stops at all to sleep or eat.
>>
>>19459500
>Journal: Day 51
Warned the others about the hostile player I fought a couple days ago. Some of the others looked really worried when they heard it, so I tried to calm them a bit by letting them know that I did hurt him, so he may not be as serious a threat. Still, I saw more than a few pairs of eyes glancing up into the sky to look for black birds circling overhead.

So my female 'friend' came up to me later on and asked me where my other Friend was. Told her the truth, I don't know or don't have one. She seemed surprised, saying how everyone else seemed to have two Friends with them. I agreed but I apparently only had one. She asked about my Rival, if I had one, that maybe I got lucky and didn't have one because I had only one Friend. Told her I was by no means that lucky. I had a rival and had actually seen it near here one night. She got a worried look on her face and glanced around but I let her know I've only seen it once and that it was from a distance. There was no need to worry. I wish I could actually believe that.

I've been tempted to put Hellrider in the Journal entries so far, but haven't thought up anything interesting yet so far. Possibly because I imagined him being a Friend of someone's rather than a Rival. But your idea is certainly interesting. Would be a Hella show.

Ugh. So I just woke up on the beach with a bunch of other people lying around out cold. Bones was sitting right next to me patiently, like usual, though he seemed a little relieved to see me waking up. I've been trying to remember what happened as well as ask around, so I'll put down what I've found out so far.

Apparently somebody's Friend can turn water into alcohol. I remember us all starting to drink and have a good time. Thing is, we were drinking strong alcohol and none of us had had any type of release like this for a long time. So we all probably drank too much. I know I'm nursing quite the headache right now. So are most everybody else.

I just starting hearing questions about someone missing. I'll have to listen in to find out what that's all about. I hope they just wandered off sometime during the night and collapsed near by.

Shit. So apparently my rival dragged some poor SOB off during our party last night. Right out into the ocean. Or so Bones claims. And while he doesn't have the best memory, I can't imagine him lying. Pretty much everyone knows what happened now and some are unhappy with me. They're blaming me for his death. They're saying I should have done something or controlled my rival. Or that I shouldn't have been here. It's all a load of bullshit, but now I'm getting these unwelcome or scared looks from others right now.

I think it's time to leave the beach again.

Since Calymure's name is in pink... yeah, I'd say she's probably a girl. There really isn't anything to support her princess is Gwen though.

Nope. Was going to take a claw hammer, but there are no nails (probably), so no point. Plus, claw-hammers have a structural weakness under the claw. If there is no use for the claw, take the ball-point for extra duribility.

I was also going to take a hatchet and a saw with extra blades, but I have Bablamon on my team, so no need.

That said, I regret not taking a packet of seeds or two, but no matter.

So how does one get to the island, anyway?

I think it should be like The Running Man:

> Introduced on stage in front of the viewers
> Wearing an Adidas track-suit from the 70s
> Put in roller-cage and shot down chute at extreme speeds
> End in 'ready room' where you pick up your chosen supplies
> Exit to outer ready room where your chosen Hella Friends are waiting (if applicable)
> Exit to island at midnight
> As soon as all are out in different spots around the island, the chutes are pulled away
> In certain spots on the island is a game clock and maybe a status board of competitors and their Hella Friends (alive, sick, injured, dead)

Thoughts?

Elaboration: The Hella Funtime Adventure Friends layout is well-known to all. The friends are constant to all series with the exception of the odd friend being added to a new season. All players know each and every one of the friends, and when they open those doors to see who their Hella Friends are, they know immediately what their team's strengths or weaknesses are.

Merchandise of the friends is always common, and something that all generations love (from plush toys and lunchboxes to embroidered pillows for grandma). However, as the four years move along the contestants themselves will gain popularity. It is not uncommon for action figure sets of a contestant and their team to be released at Christmas, or for video-games or fan spinoffs to be released. Many who emerge from the island alive and sane go on to be celebrities their entire lives.

Left the beach camp yesterday. I'm pretty sure some people were glad to see me go. There's nothing I could have done to stop my rival from taking that guy out to sea, but I think people just see me as bad luck or something. As if they don't have some potentially dangerous being out there looking for them.

My friend followed me out as I went inland. She claims it was to give me company, but I doubt that. I'm trying not to think too much about it. We split off though, with me going south and her north (or at least what I think is north and south). I wished her good luck when we separated and she returned the wish. She also hoped to meet up with me again and headed off with a wink. Now I know she's messing with me. Still, it is nice to talk with another person from off the island and now that I may not be to welcome at the beach camp...

The isolation is starting to get to me. I was never one of those people who always need interactions with others. Hell there were times that I wanted to just be alone and think. But I guess I could always talk with someone if I wanted to, even if it was online. I can't do that out here. Having bones around means I'm not totally alone, but he's not very good at conversations. Doesn't really have anything to talk about. So me and him just spend alot of the time working with a few words passed back and forth between us.

I should have gone with that chick. I think. I don't know. I'm nearly alone with my thoughts out here and it's situations like this where men go mad.

Saw that vulture circling a distance off. I don't think he saw me, since I'm under the tree canopy, so I watched him a bit. And watching gave me an idea. A dangerous one.

That other player is out there, potentially waiting to kill someone. We can't let him do that. I can't let him do that. So I'll get him first.

He has to sleep, right? Let his guard down. So I'll force feed him his own cure. I'll jump him when he thinks he's safe. It'll be risky. That damned basilisk could royally fuck things up. But this whole island is risky. And it's better I track him down rather than the other way around.

I'll head out and follow that bird right to him. And then kill him.

Well I found the fucker. His bird moved around quite a bit, but kept returning to one spot. So I just made my way there and tried to make sure it didn't spot me or Bones. I figured I'd wait until nightfall then move in and go all ax murderer on him. Wish I had a mask, would love to scare the shit out of the guy.

Before I reached the guy's little camp I heard noises. Couldn't make out quite what they were, sounded kinda like voices and movement, but I couldn't make out anything. Guess they might have found someone else or were just partying it up, the bastards. Helped me to speed up, looking to separate his head from his neck.

But then I finally got to where he was. Or rather, where his body was. There had been a fight, that was obvious. His body was all mangled up and looked... digested? Like acid burns or something. Same with his snake. There was a LOT of blood. They aren't kidding when they say it's surprising how much blood is in a person. Or in a giant snake. Couldn't find anything from the bird, don't know if it flew off or gotten eaten or something. All that noise must have been the fight.

And I think I know who did it. I'm glad that this fucker is dead but...

I'm definitely not going lizard hunting.

>Journal: Day 62
I found a river! It isn't particularly big, but it's still a source of 'fresh' water. Now that I know where it is, I don't need to rely on rain for non-salt water, since I have no idea how to purify salt-water to a drinkable state.

I set up camp not too far away from where I found the now dead raider and his Friend the night after I found him. I didn't want to be too close in case Mr. Lizard came back. He didn't, but I'm still glad I was careful. I did eat some of the snake Friend and was going to try some of the guy but... I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm glad I got some more protein, since I'm not sure how much I have regularly in my diet now that the peanut butter is all gone. I'm using the containers to store water now though. Recycling isn't just a way to show I care about 'Mother Earth' (bitch doesn't seem to care about me).

I filled up all the stuff I could with water and got a fire going. I'm hoping that I can kill some of the nasty microorganisms from the river water, but I'm not sure how thorough my process will be. I can't stick the containers too close to the fire, otherwise they might start to melt.

I cleaned myself off again and made sure I wasn't interrupted this time. No need to make friends that way again.

I'd write my own but I'm terrible at it... I made some adventure friend cards though!

>Journal: Day 63
Well, I finally met my second friend today. It was definitely not what I expected in the slightest. But it is what it is and I guess it could have gone a lot worse.

So me and Bones were just hanging around the camp, with Bones collecting kindling and me staring into the river wondering if I could somehow catch fish from it. Someone moves into the camp behind me while I'm thinking and I don't really pay that any heed, since I figure it's just Bones returning with fuel for a fire. At least at first. My attention begins returns to the situation at hand when I don't hear anything else. No dropping of kindling, no announcement of being done, no questions about what I think we need to do next. Just the sounds of the forest around us. And someone else breathing.

That's when I realized that SOMEONE is right behind me. My body heats up and I feel that weird wave of what I imagine is adrenaline going through me that happens when I realize I'm close to danger. My palms get sweaty and I'm hoping so hard that it's just my friend bumping into me again as I turn around.

It isn't.

Instead I'm now facing a large bipedal reptile whose appearance just screams 'predator'. I'd say he almost looks kinda like a dragon, rather than any reptile I'd think of. It's staring right back at me with obvious menace, just breathing somewhat heavily. Anyone who is reading this journal (however you got a hold of it) probably can figure out just what, or rather WHO, this beast is. And we are currently locked in the most intense staring match I've ever taken part of.

At this point in time my mind is going nuts. I can't help but think that I shouldn't have turned around right then because now it'll attack me. Or that if I stop staring at it and move any more than a blink and it'll be on me in as much time. I know I'm fucking dead, I haven't got a weapon and this thing is supposed to be able to regenerate wounds. And spit fucking acid. The raider player's corpse flashes before my eyes. That will be me. I AM the dead man.

I guess the realization that there was no way I was going to keep breathing in a moment calmed me enough to swallow and finally act. I figured I might as well try and put on a brave face even though whoever found me would no doubt cringe their nose in disgust at my body's smell.

"Where are your Friends?"

Heres another one, inspired by some other anon.

He sees all, and delivers his own brand of justice on those he judges deserving. Some think of him as a guardian, but can you really trust a man who is noth judge and executioner?

Most players just call him the Vigilante.

Alright, that's badass. Great character idea.
I didn't even consider Omeo was supposed to connect to your body but now it seems pretty obvious.

It's some Alien Nine shit- right down to needing to feed on his partner.

Can we get a ref in here?

I'd say it means he only has one friend or that he gets to choose his second one by hand.
Or that he only has one friend with double strength who has transcended the upper limits of funtime power.

'What?'

"Where are your Friends?"

I was surprised, of course. Why the hell was this thing waiting to tear my face off just to ask where my Friends were? I figured it must be because he was trying to figure out what he would face if he attacked me, but it just seemed like such an odd way to scout out prey. For some reason I just couldn't lie to this thing but I was easily able to do the next best thing: misleading truth, a favorite of mine.

'He'll be back. And it doesn't matter if you kill him, he'll reanimate.'

Bones would still be worthless in a fight, but this guy didn't need to know that.

"And your other Friend."

I tried to think up something on the spot. I couldn't.

'I don't... have another Friend.'

Was that surprised I heard in that snort? I believe it was. The reptile seemed to relax, somewhat, and glanced around at my meager camp.

"... So you only have one Friend?"

'No I have three.'
>>
>>19474730

Is what I didn't say. I know when to snark and when to keep my mouth shut so that it stays on my face. Instead I just nodded, still anxious as to whether this guy would attack. Instead of tearing me apart, he just kind of stood there, apparently thinking and shifting around. I soon got the impression that this guy wanted to say something to me, but wasn't sure how to ask. I couldn't help but chuckle a bit under my breath. Here was some creature who could turn me into mince-meat, but it had just as much trouble bringing up a topic as I sometime did. The Island gods were probably getting a kick out of this.

"What are you laughing at?"

He suddenly snarled at me, obviously angry at me finding something humorous.

'N- no-t anything about you. Just... something else...'

Way to convince him of your intentions. He seemed to accept the answer as enough though and let out another breath, relaxing again.

"I think I'm supposed to be your second Friend."

'But you weren't with me when I arrived here. Not that it means anything now that I think about it.'

"Well I'm supposed to be someone's friend and you're the first one I've met who only has one, so...-"

'Yeah, if the boot fits.'

"What?"

'Nothing.'

So we stood there a bit by the river, neither of quite us sure what to say, before I finally broke the silence.

'Hey, did you kill a guy with a snake friend?'

"Yeah. Why?"

'Good riddance.'

His name is Kenny. And he's my new Friend.

There won't be enough characters until they add a decent husbando. There are five human girls who are all cuties and but for guys we have.... just Rolf.

There should also be a cool dragon that you can actually have as your friend.. Gupi doesn't count!

If some are added I demand vagina mangling characteristics with them.

Day 1:
There was a bright light and an indescribable wetness. It was like I was floating on the sea in the dead of night, but the water was calm and supportive, and a bright moon burned in the sky. I couldn’t move, held fast by some unseen force. There was a chittering sound, growing louder and louder, as the moon drew closer. I felt as if I was falling, or perhaps flowing towards something, towards the bright light? It drew closer and closer...

I awoke to the sight of a large blue face. Its snout was elongated, with rubbery fishy lips, big yellow eyes, doglike ears, and a little dangly bit coming out of its forehead, with some sort of bioluminescent substance at the end, the same color of my dream moon. It looked intrigued, and then overjoyed to see me awake.
“Oho!” it proclaimed, in a deep yet playful voice, “You have returned to the land of the living, I see! At least, I hope it’s you, and not some otherwise predatory yet persistent possessor, playfully plying the planes of perception within your present place.”
>>
>>19475467
It continued on with its alliterative commentary, though I found myself a bit too preoccupied with my present position (oh, there I go). First of all, I discovered that though all of my limbs were present, all of my mental functions, mostly functioning, and my lungs filling with air in regular intervals, I appeared to be wearing completely different clothing than the last time I remember, and that said clothing, along with my general countenance, was soaking wet. I was half-submerged in a pool of water, my legs sitting on the soft sand as warm ripples massaged my torso. The fish-man was true to my identification, as his lower torso was that of a large fish, being of the same blue-green/turquoise color of his upper body. He (and from the make of his voice and body, he certainly was a he) slid aside back into the water as I slowly rose to sit, to take in further this place.
It was a cave, the entrance facing the sea. Outside I could see tropical trees, undergrowth, a movement here or there, as well as long stretches of beach. The cave itself had one large chamber, with water leading in, as well as a chamber to the side. The sun shown in from a hole in the ceiling.
“A grotto,” I remarked, recalling my geographic and historic knowledge, or perhaps my time adventuring in Skyrim. The fish-man nodded in approval. “Yes, that’s what this is. We call it Clearwater Grotto, or home, if you prefer.”
I looked at him in surprise (though in truth, my face read at least mild surprise this whole time). “Home? I think that begs a question, where am I? Or who are you, for that matter?”
>>
>>19475476
The fish-man’s smile diminished. “Oh dear,” he stated rather somberly, his head light dimming, “another ignorant new player. Well, knowledge is power.”
He spread his fin-hands in a grand gesture. “Then allow me to explain,” he remarked, much more confidently, “This is the island of the Hella Fun Time Adventure Buddies. You are a player in this great game, though it seems you weren’t made aware of it. The rules are simple: you must survive for 4 years on this island using your wits, a knapsack of supplies, and a pair of Hella Fun Time Adventure Buddies, who are assigned to you at the beginning.”
Though bemused, I nodded slowly. “So, it’s like Survivor, but for real?”
The fish-man turned his head and smiled. “I have no idea what you’re talking about, but that’s probably accurate. I suppose I should introduce myself. I am one of your Adventure Buddies, assigned to help and aid you whatever way I can.” He extended his fin to shake.
I smirked. “Oh, wouldn’t have figured,” I met his hand with mine, “What’s your name?”
“Gilligan.”
Had I been drinking something, this would’ve been a cue for a spit take. “Well,” I said uneasily, “that’s...ironic.”
“It’s only ironic if I help you off the island, not keep you on it.”
>>
>>19475484
I started to smile again, though was cut off by an uneasy feeling in my stomach. “Well, Gilligan, you do know what would’ve been a good solution for the stranded cast of Gilligan’s Island, right? The way to solve their food issue and their person issue, right?”
“Not a clue,” Gilligan pulled at his head light, which bounced away, “Enlighten me.”
“They could’ve just eaten Gilligan.”
Gilligan gave me an odd look, and then laughed. “Not my answer, but I see where you’re coming from. Fortunately, that won’t be a problem.”
It seemed a sudden change. First, his fins were empty, and then suddenly, a massive platter of fried dumplings appeared in his hands, as if they had always been there. “Please, eat to your heart’s content. I can conjure them for you only once a day, but they are delicious and filling.”
I dug in, madly devouring the dumplings, filled with meat, fruit, cheese, and veggies. When I felt I’d eaten all I could, the plate was still half-full. I looked back at Gilligan, who was splashing himself in the pool. “Question: do these things have any preservatives or anything? Because I don’t want to waste them, but I can’t eat any more.”
Gilligan stopped, turned to me. “Oh, don’t worry about it. They’ll be edible the next time you’re hungry, though a tad cold. I’d watch out for bugs getting to them, or dropping them in the sand myself. Doubt there’s much their doughy armor can do against that.”
An ant started approaching the plate. I started to shoo at it, before it burst into flames. Looking up towards the skylight, I saw a massive purple orb silently gliding down. It had three appendages, two batlike wings, and a massive eye in the center of its body mass. It came to rest above the ground, and smiled a toothy grin.
>>
>>19475496
“reporting in,” the orb buzzed, “discovered numerous animals, mostly deer, small mammals, in the jungle. insects beyond count, skeptical that eye-ray can be of much use. some other buddies and players, too far to identify properly. one humanoid, likely a buddy, has been very active in his movements”
Gilligan’s expression was itself a bit bemused. “He didn’t follow you, did he, Belder?”
The orb, apparently named Belder, shot out an immediate response, “impossible. suspect familiarity with the area. subject is destroying terrain as he moves. combustion effects, mostly. advice: use caution when engaging, do not take cover in foliage.”
Gilligan turned to me, “Well, looks like things are heating up. This is Belder, your other assigned Buddy. As you can see, he flies, observes the terrain, and can move without being noticed. I suspect that the buddy coming for us is Mr. Pepper. He has held a grudge against me for the longest time.”
I shook appendages with Belder, before coming back to Gilligan. “Well,” I inquired, “why was that?”
Gilligan took on an expression of shame. “Well, you see...

"...it was back in high school...I used to have a much crueler sense of humor...I sort of filled his locker with pierogies and water. He was rather put out by that.”
“Oh, is that all.”
“I also took his then-girlfriend to the Junior Prom. She was a nice girl.”
“Oh. That burns.”
“Funny. Anyway, ever since then, he has hated me with a burning passion, me and my pierogies. I suggest that we avoid him for now, until we take stock of our location. I recommend you get some rest. There’s a bedroll in the knapsack, you can use that.”
I found said knapsack, a large, crude bag filled to the brim with supplies. Detaching the bedroll, I laid down (having since dried off), and fell promptly to sleep. Mmm, those pierogies...
