Jormungandr loomed above the sea, a great, dark airship of orcish design and made of rosewood. Elven crystals graced its stern and bow, and eddies of magic swirled about it.

On the deck was;
Lewin, a ranger who aspires to be an adventurer.
Fellwind, a swordsman who used to be a soldier, and Lewin's close friend
Grubwort, a relatively cheerful orc, and the captain of Jormungandr and her crew.
Kiyara, an elven crafter who, surprisingly, has no arcane abilities.
Ele'merelda'jaridan, an elven crafter who prefers to go by the name 'Ell'.
Ser Verniad, an Elven Keeper and the leader of several other keepers on board.
Venerable King, the king of all orckind, accompanied by a retinue of elite knights.
Ezekiel and Raziel, two twin Kalak and members of the coven.
Grayson and Ser Bubbles, a magically empowered dire bear, and a large, orichalum spider golem.
And finally, you; Ishelda, a sorceress of royal blood and unknown powers.
>>
>>19421066
Finally, 4chan seems to be working again.
>>
"According to the speed we're going. . " Ezekiel said, looking at Kiyara's map as she flies the airship. "We should be there in a few hours."

He glanced at Raziel's sleeping form, and then pulled up his cowl. She'd been sleeping ever since she first came aboard, drunk on swamp brew. Her small, deformed wings twitched as she mumbled something.

"Well. . we were both in the same egg. . Her wings didn't end up growing properly. She can't fly with them."

"Has your family never tried to fix that?"
"She refuses." He says. "She could, if she wanted, shapeshift her form into one with full wings, but for some reason she refuses to let her wings be healed."
"And what do you think we should do with her, once she is awake again?"
"I. .don't know." He says. "If she behaves herself, I don't see why we'd have to do anything. . But if she doesn't. . ."

Can someone explain why the hell we are going to the Wall and the Demons again?
We wont be able to defeat them. We wont be able to banish them either: the most powerful magical race in the world used all the means they had and even sacrificed a powerful race to deter them and even then couldn't defeat them properly. We wont be able to close the portal unless we sacrifice someone (are you guys willing to make a sacrifice?).

Don't tell me it is to bring back Kiyara's father. He went there on his own volition and wont come back till the portal is closed and since we cannot close the portal, it is a moot point to go after him and risk the lives of EVERYONE on board.

It has been said time after fucking time again, there is no time limit. Why the fuck are you people rushing everything!?

(And please, for everything that is holy, do not tell me you're going there with NO PLAN WHATSOEVER with just preconceived notion that we will be able to deal with it just because we are the MC and we're supposed to solve impossible tasks with the sheer power of will and friendship.)
>>
"Have you considered that she doesn't want them healed to spite you? So you have to see it and know your privelage. ."
"I have considered it, but. .she's not like that. Not to me, anyway. She wouldn't do something that would make me unhappy. .not unless she thought she knew better than I." He said.

You shrug. "We shall have to play it by ear, then."

"Hey, Vith, do you have any more of that swamp brew?" Raziel asks, sitting up. "Vithriel?"
>>
>>19421364
I think you should be the first one she sees, Ezekiel.
>>
"I think you should be the first one she sees, Ezekiel." You say. He frowns, but nods.
"Zeke!" Raziel called, and pushed herself to her feet. "Where are we? . . Oh."
She looked at you, and you can tell she's glaring at you, even with her non-expressive kalak eyes. "What am I doing here? Last I knew, I was at Vith's temple. . "
>>
[I assume that since no one is answering why the everloving fuck we're going to the lair of super BBEGs that you guys have absolutely no freaking idea what the hell you are doing.]

>>19421431
Don't say anything and let Ezekiel explain.
>>
>>19421465
>You're going because you already informed the King you would, and he's already onboard. You can't exactly change your mind...

You don't say anything, and she turns to Ezekiel.
"If we stayed in the temple, we probably would have ruined Vithriel's plans. He. . She asked us to take you with us while you were.. inebriated."
"You saw me drunk?" She asked, and then covered her beak with her talons in what you assume is shame.
>>
>>19421490
Don't worry. You just stumbled into cave and fell asleep.
>>
>>19421490
>>You're going because you already informed the King you would, and he's already onboard. You can't exactly change your mind...

Exactly. Why the hell did people rush into this shit is beyond me. I am well aware that we cannot go back anymore, that's why I'm not even suggestion that. I just want the people who rushed into the MOST DANGEROUS place in the world unprepared to explain what the hell they are planning because as far as I can see the plan is "to throw shit and see what sticks"

>>19421490
"I'm sure it is nothing to be ashamed of."
>>
I just realized that we are technically a queen.
There are no other surviving heirs and no one fit to be regent. Even if it's a moot point, it still stands.
>>
>>19421524
Fuck year. We can rule a dead burning world!

(Perhaps THIS should be our goal? Become so fucking powerful, lead a gargantuan army of magical constructs to reclaim our world?)
>>
"Don't worry. You just stumbled into a cave and fell asleep." You say, and she relaxes.
"Lady." Lewin says. "There are a few hobgoblin ships below us. Should we ignore them?"
>>
>>19421574
"The are not shooting at us, are they?"
>>
"They are not shooting at us, are they?"
"No, they're just looking on in awe." He said. An arrow sails above the ship. "Okay, now they're shooting."
Some of the keepers draw out javelins, and move to the edge of the ship.
"We're ready to return fire." Verniad said.

In case not, lets just cast a barrier on the under the ship.
>>
"Can't we just ascend enough that they cannot reach us with their weapons?"
"Yeah, we can." Kiyara says, and puts her gauntlet on the airship's wheel. The entire vehicle lifts, and ascends past the hobgoblins' bow range. "There. Now they can't bother us."
The keepers put their javelins back, and then sit back down on the deck.
>>
>>19421685
Welp.
Lets continue... I guess.
>>
>>19421465
Originally, it was to get Kiyara's dad. Now, if he still believes he can close the portal, we help him.
>>
"Let's continue." You say, and Kiyara nods.

An hour later, you see something in the distance, something large. Smog covers the sky, and you can see burning fires.
"We'll have to get lower in order to get out of the smog." Kiyara says, and the airship lowers as you approach the wall.

You can see. . thousands of beings, sitting there- it was a massive camp, full of slaves, hobgoblins, and suprisingly, three ancient trolls, who were looking up at you.

One of the taller hobgoblins start waving some kind of flag at you, and you hear some kind of commotion coming from the camp.
>>
>>19421715

That's not even a plan. We're risking lives of boatfull of people on something that we don't even know will work. This is waht we do RIGHT after we promise Fellwind we wont drag them into undue dangers. And we drag them into the most dangerous possible place in the realm.
>if he still believes he can close the portal
So? Many people believe a lot of things. Doesn't mean they are right. I'm sure he believes he can close it but just the word of an old man is not enough to be convinced to do something.

The point is, we're going against enemy we know absolutely nothing about without much preparation and force.
>>
>>19421768
Ask if anyone knows what that flag means.
>>
"Does anyone know what that flag means?"
"Not I." the King says.
"I might know, but it's been forever. . " Raziel said. "I think he wants to talk with us."
>>
>>19421821
Should we talk to them?
Well... I've got no better ideas, lets go talk to them.

>>
>>19421930
Fuck no.
If we're going down, we're going with the whole ship.
>>
"I suppose we may as well talk to them, then." You say, and nod to Kiyara, as she lowers the airship.

"Greetings, strangers from across the sea." The hobgoblin says, setting down the flag. "I am the warchief Yeerdis. Have you come to assist us?"

Well, since went through the trouble of getting bunch of bodyguards.... yeah.

"Goodday, warchief Yeerdis. Are you in charge here?"
"I'd like to ask some things before answering you, if that is okay."
....

"What is your purpose here?"
"Why are you maintaining the wall."
"Is there any risk that the wall will break you will get overwhelmed by the Demons?"
"How long have you been doing this?"
"Do you capture slaves for the sole purpose of building the wall to hold the demons back?"
"Has an elf named [I forgot] come by here?"
>>
>>19421987
Oh come on, angels fighting demons, what's not fitting?
>>
"Good day, warchief Yeerdis. Are you in charge here?"
"As much as one can be in charge this far south." He said, and scratched at his nose.
"I would like to ask some things before answering you, if that is okay."
"Go ahead."
"What is your purpose here?"
"To maintain the wall."
"Why are you maintaining the wall?"
"A debt we incurred." He said. "We owe the ogres our lives, and so we fight for them."
"Is there any risk that if the wall breaks, will you get overwhelmed?"
"The wall breaks every day." He says. "We push them back and reseal it."
"How long have you been doing this?"
"My entire life, and my father's life before me, and his father's life before him."
"Has an elf named Kyvann come by here?"
"Yes." He responded, and raised an eyebrow. "He smelled like the elf woman over there." He said, pointing at Kiyara.
"Do you capture slaves for the sole purpose of building the wall to hold the demons back?"
"No. Most of them don't live here- they produce our food and weapons." He responds.
>>
>>19421994
I'm not say it isn't fitting, just that I think it's terribly cliche, and I hope it isn't the case here.

>Kyvann

"Can you tell me more about Kyvann's visit? What did he talk about and where did he go afterwards?"

"What can you tell me about the demons? You've been fighting them for generations. Did you learn any weaknesses or how they fight?"

"To answer your question, I would like to help Kyvann in finally sealing the portal and stopping the invasion altogether."
>>
>>19422030
>>19422033
Add, "In truth, we have come seeking Kyvan. If he is truly able to do what he claims, we shall aid him. The demons have been on this world too long."
>>
"Can you tell me more about Kyvann's visit?"
"He asked about the center of the wall. We told him where it was, and then he tried to use his flying ship to go over it. The demons shot it down soon after he crossed the wall. He is most likely dead." The hobgoblin says in a calm, emotionless tone. In the corner of your eye, you see Kiyara pale.
"What can you tell me about the demons?"
"They know how to kill." He says. You wait, but he doesn't elaborate- instead he stands there, waiting for the next question.
"In truth, we have come seeking Kyvann, so we can aid him in sealing the portal and stopping the invasion altogether."

The wall suddenly cracks, and you hear screeching of some kind. Your blood goes cold.

The wall shudders, and bursts open.
Rampaging through the crack in the wall, strange, alien beasts with long claws, leathery wings, and flaming weapons, as they charge through. Yeerdis calls something out, and the hobgoblins and trolls bring their weapons to bear, and clash against the demons. They're here. They're really here.
Something grips your heart, something cold, and sharp, and painful.
"Lady? Lady Ishelda?" Someone is asking, but you can't look away.

You watch the Warchief Yeerdis get torn in half.

Also summon the Air elemental we made back then. Sure, it can work only for a minute but it is fast as fuck
>>
The entire world seems to blur. You stutter something- you're not entirely sure what you say. The elven Keepers draw out their javelins and start throwing them. You raise your arm, and pour your will into the signature spell you'd created- the wind and dust gets pulled into humanoid shapes, and they rush forth, into combat.
You're trembling, and a cold sweat is springing from your forehead. Someone is yelling at you, but you can't- you can't- think. Whatever it is gripping your heart is making. . it's making everything impossible. You grab one of the crystals out of your pouch and you try to summon the elemental. .but you drop it- it bounces off of the deck.

A winged demon leaps at you, claws out, but something golden and spider-shaped leaps in the way.

Slowly, ever so slowly, you bend over, and pick up the crystal again. You were going to do something. . but what?

The crystal bursts from your hand, and you feel your muscles ache- that was odd, you didn't even intend on doing anything.

The air and steel elemental leaps forward, sundering a demon in half. It gets hard to breathe, and the smoke seems to be getting to you.

Try not to devolve into a gibbering fool, even IF these are the things that hunt and kill worlds for sport, we still aren't one to be trifled with, none the less have our tragic past come back to haunt us.
>>
Whatever it was gripping your heart. . . collapses. A wall of some kind- a mental wall, a metaphysical wall, shatters, and everything becomes clear again.

The demons are slowly, slowly but surely being pushed back. Fellwind leaps forward, and slices right through a demon's blade. One of the ancient trolls make a loud keening noise, and a swarm of smaller trolls slam into the demons, not even attempting to use their claws, simply shoving the demons back with their weight and strength. Lewin pulls back his bow, and focuses. .

Kiyara screams, and there's a demon on top of her.

Hot, hot fury rages up inside of you, and you reach out with your magic. You bring it forth in the shape of. .

A pure white elemental, sparks dancing along it's skin, a pillar of flame, bursts into being. It reaches out, grips the demon by the throat, and you feel the demon's spine shatter.
>>
>>19422307
>even IF these are the things that hunt and kill worlds for sport
Why do you keep saying?
Why do people ALWAYS jump to conclusions? You don't have even slightest bit of information to back that claim.

Maybe their homeworld in overpopulated and they are just aggressive expansionists? Maybe they are an ancient artificial race made by long dead people who are just following their preset orders? Maybe they need to do this to survive?

But nooo, instead of trying not to see the world black and white we're just going to say "derr, they hunt worlds for sport"

Fucking hell. This is the exact same shit that bothered me in Nearfuture quest where people kept calling incredibly professional, coordinated, willful, well-funded and informed group "hurrdurr, /b/-level troll teenagers"
>>
>>19422373
Well, to be honest, 12 or whichever one it was really was an asshole, but we are supposed to be roleplaying here, and from our perspective, that is all it seems to us. If they DO have a reason, it would have to be revealed to us not by really searching it out unless hints and clues are given to us. If those are presented though, I could see Ishelda trying to pursue it, if not from an already biased standpoint.
>>
Soon enough, the demons get bowled over by the trolls, and more come barreling out from behind the ancient trolls, piling up against the demon horde. Hobgoblins start piling clay up, and, quite quickly, they rebuild the breached wall.

"Is everyone okay?" Ezekiel asks, his hands flaming with magic.
"Doesn't look like anyone is hurt." Raziel adds. She looks back to Kiyara. "The elf is a little burned, but. . "
>>
>>19422398
We've been playing Ishelda as highly sophisticated, smart and polite woman.
But yes, I did take what you said into consideration but it still bothers me.

Still, this ties into my overarching complaint that people don't seem to put much thought into their actions, preferring simply to rush and jump to conclusions.

>>
>>19422420
Nah, I put some thought into it at least, I'm just going by perspective of a sophisticated and polite 10-14 year old, not a woman. There have to be some childish tendencies. Whether that is adopting a view point that, while sure, is very narrow and not very logical in process, it is logical and clear enough for a 10-14 year old.
>>
>>19422436
Eidolon is like a more permanent elemental of sorts. Think summoner from pathfinder.
>>
You recall the elementals, including the. .strange, burning white one. They dissolve, and you feel slight amounts of energy return to your body. The keepers pull the orcish knights back onto the ship.
"Kiyara, take the airship up." Ezekiel says, and glances at you. "I don't know if Ishelda is back with us yet."
Kiyara nodded, pulled herself to her feet, and put her hand on the wheel again. The airship shuddered, and lifted off of the ground.

"You heard what Yeerdis said before. . ." You look down at his body- he's torn into two parts. "They shot down Kyvann's ship shortly after he passed the wall."
"Then what do you recommend we do instead?" The king asked.
Kiyara faints, behind you, and Ezekiel and Raziel both kneel down to check on her.
>>
>>19422564

I just don't think it's a good idea to keep relying on our magic to solve everything. We have other spell casters now - Ezekiel said he could help to a degree but we could try talking to his sister. She deals in necromancy but is her magic strictly with the undead or dead things in general? She might be able to alter the properties of the ship if it's dead things in general since I doubt the wood used to build the ship is alive.

I just figure if we keep knocking ourselves out when we're dealing with the demons, people are going to start thinking we're too unstable when it comes to them.
