The year is 2012, and you are Vivienne O'Mailley, Slytherin and student of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. Today is, regrettably, your first day, and my God, but we've got a ways to go yet. You and your friends are just finishing up Herbology, and as Samuel and Margaret head off for their next class. You, Sarah, and Lorcan casually walk to your Charms class, sure that if you all just act calm and rational, you'll get there on time.Yeah right. But this does give you a chance to discuss your last class, or more accurately, Professor Longbottom."You know that sword that was up on his wall?" Lorcan says."Sword of Gryffindor, what about it?" you respond."My mother says that's the sword Professor Longbottom used to kill Voldemort!""Don't be stupid," Sarah interjects. "Everybody knows Harry Potter killed Voldemort. Professor Longbottom only killed his snake!""Don't be hating on the Professor!""Don't be hating on the Chosen One!"
This goes on for a while. Eventually, (and on time for once) the three of you make it to Charms class, where you are greeted by what... the hell?A, um, small cloud of what appears to be a huge white beard is standing just inside the classroom. A high-pitched squeaking noise is emanating from it. Weirdly enough, Lorcan seems to think this is Professor Flitwick.Oh, that's not squeaking, you realize. It's English. Man, fucking magic."Hello, first-years! And how are you, Mr Scamander?" the beard pipes up."Quite well, Professor Flitwick. These are my friends, Sarah and Vivienne."The puffball bounces (of course, it bounces, too. Good god.) over towards the two of you. A hand bursts free from the hair, and Sarah promptly shakes it. You do the same.>You've got a little time, is there anything you'd like to ask the Professor? He is the Head of the Smart House, he's probably the most likely to be the most useful for understanding how all this magical bullshit works. Also, you seem to be sharing this class with the Hufflepuffs, in case you want to talk to them.
Evenin', gents. 'Scuse my lateness, but you know. Real life gonna real. Anywho, last thread here>http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/19279446/
Begin asking the charms master on magical theory beyond whats laid out in first year books. You want to to know HOW and WHY magick does what it does and so far the books have explained jack-all.
>>19319430Ask if he can give us a better understanding of magical theory. The books we've read so far have been a black box, you put in words and movements and receive magic. They don't touch on how it actually works.
>>19319480"So, Professor...""Yes, my dear!" He squeaks. "How may I be of service?""Well, I was wondering if you had any advice with my studies into magical theory?""Ho ho!" He bounces a bit more vigorously, now. "With such a question, how ever did you avoid my House?""But no matter. I do indeed have a few tomes on the matter. Do remind me after class, and I'll be sure to lend them to you. But now, I am afraid, is time for class."A wand emerges from the puff of hair, and with a flick of it, Flitwick flies across the room and lands serenely on his desk.Fucking magic."Good day, students!" he pipes. "Today marks your first day in the wonder that is my Charms class!"He continues with his little tirade about the wonders of Charms 'n shit, and eventually calls for you all to separate into pairs, for 'practical practice'.>Who ya gonna pick, Viv?
a Gryffindor
>>19319598Hufflepuffs, dude.
rolled 1 = 1>>193195641=Sarah, 2=Scamander, 3=Random Hufflepuff
>>19319611Seems legit.
>>19319611Aight, then.Sarah beats you to the punch, however, and grabs you by the waist."Let's rock, girl.""Hell yeah.""Now today, class, you will be learning the Hover Charm, Wingardium Leviosa!" Flitwick squeaks. "Now, please open your textbooks to page three-hundred and twelve, grab a feather, and we shall begin!">Roll a d100 for how well you learn this.
rolled 95 = 95>>19319690/tg/'s dice always are trying to kill me. I'll roll anyway.
rolled 100 = 100let's do this!
>>19319722>>19319723Hee hee hee.I'm gonna start asking for more d100s.
>>19319722>>19319723Holy shit. We probably lift the whole caste.
>>19319723>>19319722BWAHAHAHA. ALL THE THINGS FLY. ALL. THE. THINGS.
rolled 33 = 33>>19319722>>19319723Should have waited I guess. But it did turn out better than expected. Unless low rolls are good. In that case: merde.
>>19319723Luckily, you already know this spell. And after a few more minutes of practice, you're good enough at it to the point of being able to lift Sarah.Flitwick is, needless to say, ecstatic. "My dear! This is truly unheard of! Here, let us see how you handle Broderick's Bouncing Beam!">Spell mastered: Wingardium Leviosa, the Hover Charm.>Roll another d100 to see how well you learn Broderick's Bouncing Beam.
rolled 99 = 99Lets utterly bomb this!
rolled 93 = 93should be easy.
welp....
>>19319810>>19319820You fuckers.
>>19319810Fuck. This. Magic. Shit.We should ask to hit the advanced books.
I think we have a genuine genius here.....
>>19319820>>19319810We're going to be the charms teacher after Flitwick retires.
>>19319831We've got more mojo than Magic Hitler.
>>19319810>>19319820Jesus, these rolls are nuts.
Seriously you guys are you wizards or someth-oh.
>>19319810You glance at the spell book he provides. Then you, somehow, understand it. Being the sensible sort, you cast it at Professor Flitwick.A thin green ray emanates from your wand, and you can't help but notice that several of the carvings on your metal wand seem to be coursing with silver energy.Okay, that's got to have something to do with this bullshit. The ray hits Flitwick, and sure enough, he starts bouncing, slowly at first, but soon exponentially quickly. He doesn't even bother counterspelling it, too happy with your skill."Wonderful, Vivienne! Simply magnificent! You take to magic like a duck to water!" Eventually, he spells himself back down, and cracks his knuckles somewhere inside his beard."Shall we see if you can do a few more?">3d100. Best of the first three posts. If you get 3 100s, well, god only knows.
rolled 34 = 34>>19319929Lets see if this works
rolled 57 = 57>>19319929I'll give it a whirl.
rolled 28, 7, 38 = 73>>19319929Probably going to get the first fail of the evening. Murphy and all that.
rolled 52 = 52>>19319929I AM A GOD OF LUCK
>>19319947>>19319952Nope. put dice+3d100 in your e-mail.
rolled 85, 71, 62 = 218>>19319929I love how we're a magical prodigy, and hating the fucking "Ain't gotta explain shit, it's magic" at every turn.
rolled 65, 77 = 142>>19319960other two
rolled 100, 43, 89 = 232oh 3d100
>>19319947>>19319952>>19319960It's a good thing that you screwed up and your rolls don't count. But screwing up is pretty damn pathetic, though.
rolled 54, 53, 25 = 132>>19319977Fuck,just a little to slow. Fuck.
rolled 92, 77, 42 = 211welp
>>19319983I thought he meant best of first 3 rolls, not roll 3 times each.
rolled 46, 11, 29 = 86>>19319929Probably going to get the first fail of the evening. Murphy and all that.
>>19320009goes in the email field bro.
rolled 95, 50, 5 = 150lets try one more time...
>>19319999>3d100. Best of the first three postsRoll a 3d100. Best of the first 3 3d100 rolls gets used.
>>19319965>>19319977>100, 89, 85>Hell yeah. You take to the spells, like, like, well, a goddamn wizard. You're good at this shit, there's no denying it. By the end of the class, most of the students are looking at you in awe, and those who don't are Hufflepuffs, so fuck them.Flitwick seems astonished as well. "Dear girl! Have you had your Transfiguration class yet?""No, sir.""I simply must speak to Hans about this. Merlin, I don't think I've ever had a student that talented, not since, why, Tom Riddle!"You're not exactly sure how you want to be feeling about being compared to a Dark Lord, but Flitwick cuts off your reverie."Well then, everyone! Read your textbooks, see you on Monday!" As the class departs, Flitwick motions for you to follow him to his desk. You wave Sarah and Lorcan off to lunch, and approach the fuzzball."Here, my dear, are those textbooks I was speaking to you about." He waves his wand, and several books fly out from the shelves surrounding his room. "And, ah, Vivienne. I'm sure that with a few more months of practice, you could very well be on the same level as my fourth-years. Would you care to join them?">Response, Viv?
>>19319977You know, come to think of it, since I was this guy >>19319952It's like I was really the second set you see...So clearly you should use that 100 and 89 I rolled.
>>19320121"I don't see why not."
>>19320121>>19320129Oops, never mind, I guess I still didn't understand you.
>>19320121I'd love to give it a shot. I relish any chance to learn more.
rolled 93, 19, 69 = 181>>19320121"Honestly professor I'm flattered at the offer. Can I see how I hold up for the rest of the week before I make a decision. I would hate to waste your time if this turns out to be a transitory stroke of brilliance."
>>19320180It's a Friday, I think I should mention.
>>19320121Is there also a Magic Theory class I can enroll in? These tomes seem like they'll be helpful, but may not be exactly what I want. Plus, studying what really makes magic...well, maigc. Thats what I want to do.
>>19320121"Honestly professor I'm flattered at the offer. Can I see how I hold up for the rest of the week before I make a decision. I would hate to waste your time if this turns out to be a transitory stroke of brilliance."
>>19320210>>19320180Oops, doubletap.
OP, are you the guy who did this with the crazy Muslim fundamentalist kid for like three threads? That shit was funny.
>>19320121"I'm flattered, Professor. I'd love to attempt it. I just hope that it wasn't just a bit of good fortune rather than actual talent; I would hate to waste your time, sir."This is the second time we got compared to a powerful wizard, and both times they were evil.
>>19320294I guess they don't have many powerful and good wizards to choose from.
"I would love to, Professor!""Wonderful, wonderful! Of course, you'll need to talk to Headmistress McGongall, get everything sorted out, but my, this is wonderful news! We'll show those Durmstrang buggers yet!""Sorry?""Hm? Oh, nothing, nothing, just some school rivalries. You know how it is.""And, ah, Professor?""Yes, m'dear?""I was wondering, does Hogwarts have a Magical Theory class, or something to that effect?"He pauses for a moment, then answers. "Well, no. But both Professor Schmidt and myself have been wanting to teach one for a long while now, and this might just be the ticket! Ah, but it's your lunchtime, isn't it? Hm. Hm. Well, just come and drop by Saturday, eh?">Hang on a minute, gents. Need to do more non-quest bullshit.
Let's go to lunch and levitate food away from anyone who tries to eatAlso, who wants to bet that we absolutely flunk DFADA
You run down to lunch quickly enough, and share the news with Sarah and Lorcan and everybody else at your table. Actually, why the hell are all these people at your table? I mean, Sanji and Sarah and Lorcan, yeah, but Margaret and Sam and Lysander too?Huh. Slytherin.Lysander speaks up first. "That's great, Vivienne!""You should have seen it, man. He just kept throwing spells at her, and she just kept learning 'em." Sarah replies. "Awesome.""Well done, Vivienne." Sam says, grinning. You spend your lunch surrounded by praise, and I gotta go, I'm afraid.Really sorry, but shit's hectic at the moment. Be back Sunday.
>>19320520Alright, see you then.I hope we can have longer threads soon.
>>19320480If anything I'd say that we end up being bad at Potions or Herbology. Usually the people who are good at spell-slinging are not as good at the physical things, and vice versa. Sorta like a right brain- left brain thing.
rolled 21 = 21So what were the new spells we learned from them 3d100 ?wow, we gonna end up teaching a theory clasd?
>>19320326That's because the good witches and wizards are all MORONS. Well, all witches and wizards are morons, really, but the evil ones are either dead or in prison.
>>19320560We should be decent at Potions, actually. It's just MAGIC!Chemistry after all, and the one area of magic where the scientific method is already present to a degree. After all, how do you think Snape figured out all those little tips and tricks he put in the margins of his potions book?
>>19321148Speaking of which, we keep these textbooks, right? We need to write our own notes in them, like Snape. And get a little notebook for quick reference. And a Bag of holding, and a knife. We are an ambitious protaganist at Hogwarts, and there's a Texan for a DADA professor, I'm not taking any chances.
>>19321194A Texan who is apparently and Ender's Game fanboy.Which is one reason we need to learn long term self levitation. So we can ask our army why they're upside down. The other is so we can channel pic related in battle.
>>19321315I think we're well on our way to both.
