You now sit in front of your friend Gabrielle who explains bluntly, "I have the powers of the Goddess Bastet. I can talk to cats, I feel stronger and more alive in the moonlight, and...yeah. I looked over my Arcana and compared what it meant to this and realized it has no relation, to my sadness." She said with an unhappy pout. "But that's not the point, I have read over New Age books high and low and it looks like I have abilities that most resemble Bastet." She says and runs her fingers through her blond hair before giving you a solid stare, "I wonder what you are...and Travis.."
>>
>>19261499

You see a large number of books of various origins around her; New Age books, big historical texts, and a few anthologies of mythological origin. She looks over at you and smiles, "If you'd like we can try to figure out who you are right now. Or, if you'd prefer, you can borrow one of these books and try to find it on your own time."
>>
Find out together

Ask what bastets oppozite is
>>
>>19262151

You shrug off your tiredness and struggle through the books with her. She muses, "Well, Bastet has a very heavy lunar emphasis, so maybe Horus or Ra? They're both sun gods and they're raptors, maybe that's what you have?" She suggests and lets you read their entries. It's possible, you guess, but that still doesn't answer the question about your hair color.
>>
Read ra thrn horus
ask to borrow if we cant finish em
>>
>>19262637

A cursory glance over both Gods reveals that one is more of a natural force, in this case Ra, the other is an Avenger, Horus. You note the differences and take the book, thanking Gabby for her time as you bid her good night.

After struggling home you collapse into your bed and fall asleep quickly.

That night your dreams are of rolling hills, green and verdant, which are then set ablaze by war and struggle and men clash on the battlefield beneath you. Again you have a vantage point of high in the sky and you issue commands in a voice that isn't yours in a language you don't understand, glowing spear held aloft in your hands as you intone dully your commands.

You wake up the next morning without the now usual feeling of the sun on your face. The sky is overcast and cloudy and it leaves you feeling drowsy even after your morning shower. Today you struggle to your car and climb in, not wanting to do a whole lot. However, when a bolt of lightning pierces the sky far far away you feel energy course through you as if you were hit by the lightning.

A strange desire crops up inside of you to go to where the storm is. That would mean skipping school, though.
>>
Investigate

We can just show up late to school
>>
>>19262879

You drive towards the storm as quickly as you can. When the rain starts hitting your car and the thunder fills the air you get more and more excited until you pull over at the side of the road and see the lightning striking less than a mile away. It's loud and dangerous here and you can smell the electricity in the air. For some reason this gets your heart racing and the silver pen in your pocket seems to radiate heat and warmth as you look up at the sky. The lightning flashing dangerously on all sides as you look up and a lock of your hair falls over your eye. You notice that it's more red hair around your forehead.

Now that you are here the lightning seems to be striking more closely to you, almost as if it were drawn to you.

Do you want to try anything? Or just watch?
>>
>>19262990
Shits going down, just stay in th car.
>>
Watch, dont eant to fry like that guy in the yard
Oh bring up thr goldd spear with tarot girl next time
>>
>>19263019
>>19263022

As you sit in the car and watch the lightning dances around you as if appealing to you, calling to you to come outside. The pen in your pocket also seems to vibrate slightly whenever the lightning actually strikes. The thunder shakes your windows and as you watch the storm you feel more energetic than ever before.

You wait out the storm and eventually, almost grudgingly, it moves away from your town, leaving you with a slightly hollow feeling as it slowly shambles away. Something inside of you wants to chase it more, to stay with the storm and rejoice. Of course, it's already noon.
>>
>>19263191
We can't do this all day. Head back to town. If we're gonna skip school we might as well get some training in.
>>
>>19263243

You manage some willpower and head back to your house, heading down to the basement and doing your boxing training again. You don't remember a time that you ever trained so hard at your boxing, it was always just for your general fitness, but now you do so like a man possessed almost.

After finishing your workout you shower and change, looking at the pen which is now laying on your desktop. It seems warmer to your eyes, more like platinum than silver. As you brush your fingers against it warmth and energy floods you despite the sun being hidden outside. Maybe it retained some of the energy from the storm was stored in the pen. You squint and read the pen quickly again, strangely, the writing seems more clear. You can make out:

"Lig..." and the rest is illegible. You surmise lightning may be what the rest of the pen says.

It's only 2:30, you've still got some time before school ends. And you don't have work today. What should you do?

1) Study Tarot more.
2) Try to find out more about the Gods Theory
3) Interact with the Pen
4) Study for class.
>>
>>19263297
Experiment with pen, put it in the microwave or something. Also look up war gods associated with the sun that wielded spears.
>>
>>19263340

You grab the pen and head downstairs, about to put it in the microwave as it heats up sharply and makes you pause, almost as if it were indicating a negative response.

Eventually you give up on it and head back upstairs and read. War gods with sun themes. You draw up a list fairly quickly, but it seems to be a common theme to have solar themed gods with spears. Your list is this.

Odin (Relation: Also known as Odur? God of the Sun, wielded Gungnir a legendary spear).

Lug Lamfhota (Relation: Celtic god of light. Possessed a Spear, some of his variants on his surname include "Light spear" or "Long arm" to signify a spear. Sun theme could be part of light?)

Horus (Relation: War god, heavy sun theme, used a sword primarily but accounts have been made of him using a spear)

Quetzlcoatl (Relation: God of the "morning star" or the dawn. A spear could again be seen as a weapon of his.)

Huitzilopochtli (Relation: Aztec god of war, many armed god of war. In his many arms he also was known to wield a spear.)

You look down at your gathered notes and tap the pen idly as you consider some of the options. Of course, it's equally possibly that it is something you haven't considered at all.
>>
>>19263426
Did any of these gods have red hair? If none of them do then I guess we're just grasping at straws. Message Travis on facebook and call him a waterfag. Then try to read the pen again.
>>
>>19263491

The hair color of these figures is somewhat hard to guess for some. You can immediately discount Horus since he had a falcon head. The Aztec gods likely had dark hair like their worshippers. Odin was recorded as an aged man, so maybe white, but Odur was represented as younger. Lug was Celtic, so he almost certainly had red hair.

As you finish your message to Travis you see a new message appear in your Facebook inbox. Taking a look at it you see that it's from Sean.

"Hello Martin. I was wondering if perhaps that you'd be interested in a little social gathering. You can bring Gabrielle and Travis with you, but do not bring Andrew. If you're interested we'll be meeting at La Florida at 7 PM."

La Florida was the only ethnic food in all of Springdale, and probably in 100-miles of this desolate patch of Oregon.
>>
>>19263535
Message Sean and ask him if this has to do with the Inheritors thing and ask for more details ie whos going to be there and how many. We need to work on getting a good pair of brass knuckles.
>>
>>19263604

His response is simply.

"You'll see when you get there. It's just a friendly invitation. If you don't want to come, don't come. I won't be insulted."
>>
>>19263615
I don't like this guy and I don't trust him either. We should still go, if only to get more info on this Inheritors thing. We have kitchen knives right? Pocket a medium sized sturdy knife and then alert the gang. In the meantime between now and 7 study the pen more. Don't reply to Sean either, we'll leave him guessing.
>>
>>19263717

You pick through the knives in the kitchen quickly and grab a chef's knife and wrap it in a cloth napkin and make sure it's secure as you hide it on your person. You study the pen until 6:30 and then you get in the car to grab Gabby and Travis.

Your study of the pen doesn't yield much to you, except for the fact that, oddly, it feels more like a weapon in your hands than the knife does. However, your logic prevails as you park and go into the restaurant.

Sean has a big table in the back of the restaurant where he and ten other young men and women from class are sitting. They aren't all part of the same group but they seem to be drawn here because of Sean's biding. When he sees you he smiles and ushers you over. Once everyone is seated, drinks ordered, and introductions exchanged he begins.

"Thank you guys for coming on such short notice. I'm sure you all have a lot of questions so I called everyone here to give you some answers." He takes a drink from his coffee and leans back in the chair which creaks due to his great weight. He seems to be rather lean, however, it's odd that you notice this.
>>
Callothers and go
No knivrs we ate a boxer not a knife fighter also maybe switch to kickboxing
>>
>>19263772
Is the strange ringing in our ears? And how do the people at the table look? Are there any abnormalities we can spot?
>>
>>19263809

The ringing has been in your ears since you met with your friends. It's started to sound since you're around Gabby or Travis. However, now it's the same dull foreign-language chanting. As you look around at everyone you spot some very noticeable things.

One of the girls sitting at the table is impossibly beautiful, so much so that even Travis is having trouble not staring at her. The man to Sean's left has curly blond hair despite his Asian features and his hands appear to be pink and pale like a Caucasian's hands, though he is wearing a long sleeved shirt. The most odd person, however, is the young woman who is sitting to Sean's right. She has a pair of small horns on her forehead, white tipped but otherwise black horns, though she has her hoodie up to hide them.
>>
>>19263844
And Travis and Gabby? Also, do we actually know any of these people from before all this crazy shit started happening? Any classes with any of them?
>>
>>19263880

You've seen all of them around school at some point and may have had some electives with them. However, the one that you are most familiar with is the young woman with the horns, Sarah Shaw.

Travis looks just the same as ever, though maybe his eyes appear a little more blue than their usual green, but it's hard to tell. Gabby's entire hair has gone from frizzy brown to sleek black, which she wears in a ponytail now. Her eyes have become slightly more tapered and her skin has tanned just a little. She looks like a photoshopped-version of herself.

As you've been observing everyone a few people have asked Sean some irrelevant questions before Sean smiles at you, "So, Martin, do you have any questions?"
>>
>>19263902
Who's your source? Where do you get your information from?
>>
>>19263938

"Just experience. I've been an Inheritor for longer than anyone in this town." He says humbly, but you can see the pride in his eyes as he smiles at you. "Why are you so suspicious of me?"
>>
>>19263952
Im suspicious of everyone (as we cross our arms) Now, what exactly does being an Inheritor mean? And when did you start being one?
>>
>>19263997

"You're so direct, Martin." He chides as he laughs, "Well, I will keep my own origins secret for now, but an Inheritor is someone who, as the name implies, has Inherited a gift. A Shard." He says and everyone's eyes are trained on him. "I can teach you all about being an Inheritor, and how to harness the power in yourself, but...I need you to promise to join me. I need your allegiance, just like William and Tanya here." He says, indicating the Asian boy and the extraordinarily beautiful woman. "They're my closest friends and are part of my Circle. So, who else will join?" He asked and smiled. Silence reigned at the table as two people volunteered themselves, as did Sarah, who didn't even look up, hiding her horns from everyone. Gabby and Travis both exchange looks with you, questioning what you want to do.
>>
>>19264056
Why do you need our allegiance? Are you in some sort of trouble? If you're trying to form some lame legion of doom, I don't want any part of it. IF and I mean IF I decide to join you, what would that entail?

>>
>>19264149
>>19264128

He laughs again, "I'm not in any trouble. In fact, you guys are the ones in danger. You are your own greatest threats. If you join me it means you listen to me and when I gather us all you follow my orders. There are more and more Inheritors showing up each season, and if we form a cohesive unit, we won't fear anyone. Besides, we need a group that's willing to obey so that we can defeat any Godheads that popup." He said and flashed his teeth again. "Come on Travis, I know you're a smart man, won't you join me?" He said as Travis hesitated, "I...don't know. I'll think about it." He says diplomatically. Sean smiles again. "You all will need my help eventually. Joining me now will make the cost a lot lower than it would be otherwise."
>>
>>19264183
Godheads? And why would other Inheritors want to fight us? What's the point of all this?
>>
>>19264216

He stands up and puts his hands on the table gently but it sounds like someone dropped fifty pound steel weights on the wood. "This conversation is over." He said politely and his two comrades joined him, as did the three new ones. "I'm heading home. Think about my offer, and remember, the price is going to tick higher each day until I get an answer. But know this, you WILL need me." he said and smiled before walking off.
>>
>>19264233
Is there anybody beside we three Justice Friends that didn't join? possibly make counter-group and practice powers and study and attempt to find out more abouot this "Inheritor" thing on our own.

Look around the table at whoever is left and say "I don't know about you guys, but I doubt he has good intentions. All of you watch your backs and please stay in touch with me." If any of them have anything to say, then listen. If not, back to the Hall of Justice (our house).
>>
>>19264288
>>19264304
>>19264319

Sean ignores any questions you pose for him and just leaves without another word.

There are in fact 5 others who didn't join other than the three of you. Sarah moves to follow Sean but you gently grab her elbow and she starts before relaxing. "Oh, Marty...what's up?" She asks as she tightens the strings on her hoodie to keep her horns hidden, though the bulges are quite noticeable.

Everyone looks up at you after your announcement, and you can clearly see the fear in people's eyes. They aren't sure about these changes in their minds and some of their bodies. One good example is the blond young man who has a stiff shock of white bristle on his face, a beard that he's not doing well to control.
>>
>>19264233
Can we use our trait Understaning on Sean to get his motives?
>>
>>19264346

You try to understand Sean's motives but at the moment he barely has given you anything. If anything it seems he's leading you astray with his words and his eyes, his real motives appear to be hidden. He's used to lying.
>>
>>19264337
Okay, listen up. Sean is bad news, and I dont think its safe for all of us to stay seperate. We need to all exchange numbers and alert eachother if Sean looks like hes up to something. This cant be easy to go through either. If anyone has any problems and everyone else will help. Is that okay with you guys?
>>
>>19264367

After having words with horny girl, what she knows, how she feels about Seen, etc. Voice concerns at the Round Table and inquire about other unusual experiences that aren't immediately noticeable.
>>
>>19264367

>>
>>19264418
>>19264437

She keeps mostly quiet and expresses her confusion and how she's hesitant about Sean as well. When you produce a paper for them to sign their numbers on they all do so. No one, however, seems to be really willing to talk much about their experiences, they're very personal after all. Everyone goes their separate ways and you wind up at home after doing some boxing training.

The rest of the week passes in a blur. You continue your boxing, studying, and trying to understand the pen. However nothing really noteworthy happens.

Friday you and your friends meet up at The Yard again for its reopening party. Randy has the bar open again and the party is spilling out into the wooded area behind the building where everyone seems to be getting along well. As you sit with your friends your new cellphone suddenly starts vibrating wildly, a storm of messages having arrived all of the sudden.

They're all from one young man who went to Sean's meeting but didn't join him. The boy's name was Aaron, and the messages read:

"Hey Martin, I think something's wrong, I feel weird..."

"Martin, please get back to me, I'm in the woods behind The Yard, I can't leave here, please come help."

"Martin, I know everyone's going to be here tonight, keep them away, please."

"MARTIN ANSWER ME PLEASE!!!"

It seems that he had very poor cell reception and the messages just got out. The ringing which had filled your ears since you arrived was now in the "chanting" phase, but as you get these messages you sense something from deeper in the woods coming towards you and the chanting grows loud in your ears, a warning it seems.
>>
>>19264546

Gabby and Travis quickly rush to your side, "Marty....are you sensing something as well? What's happening?" Gabby asks as Travis looks around, "Sean's reacting. Look." He said and Sean seemed to be standing up and undoing the top button of his shirt as he rolled his sleeves up and looked into the forest.

Something seems to be happening, you have a little while to react. Is there anything you want to do or anyone you want to talk to?
>>
>>19264553
Im guessing we dont have the knife on us? Go to Sean and say " Godhead?" is any of his crew here? and what of the others who didnt join him, are they here?
>>
>>19264553
Get ready to get people out of there. Start up the car and give out a general warning to people around us about being careful.

Also try to call Aaron.
>>
>>19264553
I'm also assumimg we have the pen us?
>>
>>19264596
>>19264629

Your calls to Aaron go unanswered and as you get Gabby and Travis as well as others away to your car you go up to Sean and ask him what's going on.

Sean looks at you and chuckles, "You just keep back and watch. Get your friends away from here, it's dangerous. I can handle this one." he said and William came up to his side. "Get back!" Sean yells out and as the sound fills your mind a man appears through the tree line with a huge white curled beard, powerful muscle definition, and eyes that radiated with white light. A storm welled up over his head and as he opened his palm a bolt of lightning struck down from the sky again, this time, however, it didn't seem to hurt him. The man held it, a spear of lightning, and looked around, "Kneel before Zeus!"

Sean walks up to him and as the figure calling himself Zeus cocks back his arm to throw Sean runs in and strikes him hard in the jaw, sending him reeling. Sean jumps out of the way and William extends his hand and a huge pillar of light pierces the storm, the rain ending as radiant light filled the forest. Zeus covered his eyes as Sean opened his hand, a huge hammer, a smith's hammer, appeared and he smashed the man's head, a blow that should have killed him. However, it didn't even phase the figure who simply filled his hand with lightning and punched at Sean, who slipped away.
>>
>>19264649

The pen rests safely in your pocket.

(Also brb in just a sec.)
>>
>>19264655

Well I think Sean is hephaestus.

In any case, usher people away from the fight, but be ready to jump in and help if things go badly for Sean and the asian. Grab the pen and see if we can do anything with it, see if it reacts to fucking zeus being a couple of feet away.
>>
My guess is that Sean is behind this, possibly lured Aaron into the forest and transformed him. Or something else just as bad.

>>19264655
Try to focus energy and stuff? See if we can do anything awesome? Maybe try to focus on the pen?

>>19264697
I was about to say the same about Hephaestus.

It is probably not Zeus though, but someone being overwhelmed by power and thinking he is Zeus.
>>
>>19264655
I almost forgot, but could we try to say out loud the canting in your head? Not very loud though, we don't want to seems like some lunatic.
>>
>>19264655

Was Aaron the one with the white bristle? If so, he could be zeus here.

In which case Sean is probably behind it. We need to hamstring him the first time he shows any hostile intent to us or ours.
>>
>>19264813
Yeah we need to try to not harm Zeus/Aaron to much.
>>
I just remembered a god who is usually described as having red hair!

Thor was usually described as having red hair and the eight-legged horse called Sleipnir is Odins horse.

You grab the pen and try to see if it responds in any way to the situation. However, it just glows warm as ever.

Zeus/Aaron continues his electric assault on Sean who just weaves away from the hits and eventually gets close with the hammer, the handle growing about three feet in length as it becomes a two-handed mallet and he smashes Zeus in the head, this time hot lava and molten metal exploding from the point of contact. That yields a response from Zeus who reels back in pain.

William holds up his arms and a bow made out of fire explodes into reality as he takes aim and shoots Zeus almost a hundred times into the chest and face. The white-bearded god retreats from the pain and finally Sean gets close and presses his hands to Zeus's chest. Your eyes capture the sight of Sean's frame flashing dark red, the feeling of pressure around him growing hugely. It only lasts an instant as Sean's hands explode with force and Zeus is covered head to toe in glowing molten red lava, disintegrated without a word as Sean grabs the lava in his hands and then squeezes all of it into a small metal cube.
>>
>>19265266

Wait for the spectactle to end, and then go up to him and ask him if that was aaron or not.
>>
>>19265266
>>19265290

The crowd is silent as William's bow vanishes into the air and Sean's body shifts and calms down and returns to normal. No one speaks until Randy walks outside with a cold beer in each hand and hands one to Sean. "Nicely done, Sean." He says and turns away and walks back inside.

Sean looks over at you and nods, "Yes, it was Aaron. But it wasn't at the time I killed him. It's complicated." He said and shrugged, "This is why I'm trying to get you all to listen to me. Join me and nothing like this will have to happen again."
>>
>>19265266
William confirmed for Apollo.
>>
>>19265305
Why was he in the forest in the first place? And why couldn't he leave?
>>
>>19265305

And Sean confirmed for scheming asshole. He changed Aaron, I can feel it. Leave party immediately with Gabby and Travis and any other undecideds from before. We need to find a way to increase and master our powers, and the only way to do that I can see is to join Sean......until we can backstabb him and take control.
>>
>>19265340

"I can't say. Maybe he went in there to test out some of his new talents and had his accident. I have no idea, I didn't even realize he was in there until he emerged." Sean said as he walked away from you and gathered William and Tanya to his side and people eventually started to talk in their circles again as the scene of the battle was only a bit of scarred earth from some arrows and the impact of the lightning.

>>19265365

Your friends and the other undecideds, now totaling 7 strong, which becomes 8 as Sarah joins up with you. The group looks up to you and one of the youngest members, a freshman boy named Ian, asks, "So....Martin, what should we do?" The sounds of the party are in the background and the ringing in your ear has become so regular that you don't even hear it anymore.
>>
>>19265387

Okay, I still don't trust Sean, in factI trust him even less than before. I think he changed Aaron into.....that thing. (show them Aaron's texts). But for the moment, Sean is too strong to resist openly. The only thing I can think to do is join him, train ourselves and grow our power....and when the time comes, make him answer for what he did to Aaron.

Then go to Sean and askhim if the offer still stands.
>>
>>19265422

====Major Junction====

I'm opening the vote for 10 minutes.

Should we go and join Sean's Circle?
>>
>>19265365

I second this. form Justice League secretly then infiltrate Legion of Doom. figure out how randy's involved (he's barkeep right?).
>>
>>19265387
Tell them everything we know.
"We need to get organized. Everybody should give each other their phone numbers. Get research going, try to find out who your inheritance is from and talk a lot to each other about your powers. And most importantly, be careful. Both with your powers but also around other people."

I don't really trust Sean. It seemed he stored away Aaron and might have set him up to this.

I vote no to swear fealty to Sean as he would like us to do. If it was a more equal circle then maybe.
>>
>>19265444
Nah.

But then again, unlike other anons I'm not jumping to conclusions based on no information at all. Untill we find out what Sean really has planned, I do not consider him a villain.
>>
>>19265422
>>19265444

I think my plan is the best thing to do. I mean, he knows how to manifest powers, and he can teach us how to too. And once we (by we i mean the people in OUR circle) are ready to use our powers, we challenge Sean and demand to know the truth about Aaron.

Until then we play nice, train up, and keep our people loyal. It'd be good to find out Sean's overarching plan before the showdown too.
>>
I am not okay with depriving young people of a leader who understands what is going on and becoming a leader in his stead. We know nothing about nothing. Each time something happens to someone in out group (like the thing with Aaron) then we are responsible for it because we promised to help, even though we don't know how.

I'm not convinced that Sean had anything to do with Aaron either.

>>19265387
>"I can't say. Maybe he went in there to test out some of his new talents and had his accident. I have no idea, I didn't even realize he was in there until he emerged."

Can we use Understanding trait to determine if he was lying or not?
>>
>>19265544

Yes. To your understanding he was genuine about his statement. You recall when you sensed Aaron appearing out of the forest that Sean jumped up just as quickly and looked just as shocked. Maybe he detected it a little sooner, but you have your doubts.
>>
We seem to be caught in a deadlock of 3-3.

As you think over the question you look at Travis who seems to be looking back to the camp. He seems to be having his doubts about walking out on Sean. Gabby, however, seems to be supporting you entirely. She always trusted you the most. As if to reassure you further she says, "Don't worry, Marty, if you don't know right now we can decide later." She offers, giving you a way out.
>>
>>19265481
Me neither. But the danger signs i have seen is:
1. He needs our "Allegiance" not our cooperation.
2. He holds back a LOT of information. Uses this to force people to join him.
3. The way he offed Aaron. Making him into lava and putting him in a tube

Other than that, he seems a nice enough fellow.

Also can we use understanding trait on the chanting?
>>
The problem as I see it is that Sean is suited to Rule, not Lead. A group of empowered teenagers needs a compassionate leader, not a tyrant king.

So, we start up the justice league, but make it known that we don't oppose Sean, and would like to maintain relations. We should start by recruiting our friends and Sarah, (She had the horns, right?), she seems the most impressionable.
>>
>>19265598
You try to use your Understanding on the chanting but all that you can discern is that it's an Indo-European language that you have no chance of understanding. It's not Romance, though, you can definitely tell that much. It's either Germanic, Celtic, Old English, or maybe even Slavic. However, it's inaudible when you aren't close to Sean.

>>19265614
Sarah indeed had the horns. She's with you at the moment. She seems to be displeased with Sean's violence.
>>
>>19265561
Good.
I don't understand why everyone is immediately suspecting Sean of foul play. I mean, I do, but that does not mean we should jump to conclusions.

Also, I think it is obvious what is up with the pen. We took that guy's power for our own. We were sun oriented but got energy from lighting too, that guy who does in the Yard was obviously lighting oriented and was in process of being transformed like Aaron.
So it makes sense why new inheritors are in danger, people stronger than them would hunt them for their powers. Sean could probably kill everyone here and take the powers by force, but he doesn't so that alone makes him not evil (still not good perhaps)
>>
>>19265561
>>19265544
>>19265518
>>19265595
>>19265598

Okay, what if we join Sean, but on our terms? If we see anything shifty, we can back out or respond as needed. We can give him our "Allegiance" but that doesnt mean he owns us.
>>
>>19265614
I am not sure why WE are supposed to lead them and make this "Justice" league. Why should we take the responsibility? We're just ignorant as others and at the same powerlevel. Doing this is huge responsibility, we have no way of protecting anyone and by having people join us, we would deprive them of safety that Sean can provide.
(inb4 the answer is: we're protagonist, we're supposed to do that)

>>19265648
What if it is somekind of a magical binding when we join him?
>>
>>19265614

The problem with that though is that if we join Sean, we can quickly learn and develop our powers, and the powers of the League. On our own, we won't be able to develop as quickly, if at all.
>>
>>19265648
I agree to this
>>19265676
We need to be VERY careful. If it seems we are doing anything looking like a magical binding or something, we back the FUCK away at once
>>
>>19265648
>>19265676

Someone has to lead, might as well be us.

And that is a good point. If it's a magical joining where we literally can't disobey him, then yes, we should definitely not join him.
>>
>>19265642
>>19265648

"We'll join Sean." you say and everyone looks a little surprised, Sarah the most discomforted as she winces away. You smile at her, your understanding nature showing as you pat her shoulder, "But we do it on our terms. We aren't his servants, we aren't his toadies, we are working with him, but we aren't working for him. Ok? We all come first. I promise." You reassure them as they warm up considerably, Sarah nodding, "Ok..." she whispers.

Travis claps your shoulder, relief on his face, "Thank you, Marty, it's a good choice." Gabby agrees and you return to speak to Sean. When you announce that you'll be joining him he smiles widely and shakes your hand, which feels like squeezing a block of metal.

"You won't regret it, Marty!" He reassures you and when he pulls his hand back you feel a piece of paper, "Come meet me there, bring your friends, bring everyone who will join us. I'll explain everything, I promise."

After the party at The Yard dies off you and all of the people with you meet up at the warehouse that his family owns which stores mechanical parts for industrial work. Inside the massive warehouse you see a cleared floor, punching bags, and all sorts of training equipment. Chairs of all sizes line the floor.
>>
>>19265721

If that motherfucker comes out wearing a robe and holding a talisman or something, we are bugging the hell out.
>>
>>19265721
Oh shit, this is scary.

Oh and my guess is that we are Odin. It fits with our character trait of understanding. Since Odin was the god of wisdom.
>>
>>19265721

Sean is sitting in one of them, his two aides on either side, and the people who sided with him are already seated. He offers you all seats in the circle and explains, "To help understanding I will explain what you need to know now. As we get further along in our relationships together, I will explain the rest."

He clears his throat, "Aaron Lane was an Inheritor like all of us. Like all of us, he had what I call a Shard inside of us. These Shards are....pieces of Gods and Goddesses." He explained as he lit a cigarette. "I don't know their origin or why they activated now, but they exist and they are activating. These Shards, for now, are just sub-human things that crave Divinity." he pauses, "I cannot tell what Shard each of you have from just seeing you. However, a lot of us can figure out one another's through experience. There are, however, some Shards who can instantly detect another's Shard and who it is." He pauses, "I posses the Shard of Hephaestus. It has had many effects on me."
>>
>>19265775

Odin wasn't associated with the sun, and I don't think he had red hair, though a spear seems up his ally.
>>
>>19265794

Well we were right about Sean's shard at least.
>>
>>19265794
"So what happened to Aaron?"
>>
>>19265794

"I have become stronger beyond my wildest dreams." He said and squeezed the arm of his metallic chair and left finger-sized impressions in it. "I am durable enough to be hit by a car and barely flinch. I can stand heat to extremes that many metals would melt in. And lastly I have Vulcan Magic." He said and nodded gracefully. "There are many things you Shards can do to and for you. However....there is a risk." he said and paused to breathe his cigarette smoke in.

"As you use these powers, increase your Divinity, and engage in Indulgences, the Shards....grow to dominate you." He said finally. "If you aren't careful you will become a Godhead, like Aaron did today. Once you become a Godhead you are nothing more than a mortal puppet for the Divine Shard to rampage with. I do not know their purpose, I do not care. Godheads should be stopped." He says flatly, "If any of you become Godheads I will do to you what I did to Aaron today. You are a monster in that case." He lets that hang for a while before smiling.

"So, any questions?"
>>
>>19265794
Do he know why we hear a ringing in our ears and chanting when we are near him?
>>
>>19265852
What do our dreams mean?
Why did he put Aaron in a metallic cube?
>>
>>19265852

When does the Training start? And what do you mean when you say Indulgences?
>>
>>19265852
"How can you stop the transformation?"

"What other dangers do we face?"
>>
>>19265876
>>19265879
>>19265854
>>19265892

"I put Aaron into a metallic cube so that I could bury him. That cube is currently buried behind The Yard. No one will get suspicious if they dig it up. I don't know the exact meaning of your dreams, but it's possible they are lingering memories of your Shard. The chanting and the ringing is your Shard warning you about other Inheritors close to you. I hear the sound of anvils being struck." He pauses and sighs, "Indulgences are...complicated. We can't even talk about them without knowing your Shard's identity. So for now, just know that they feed your Shard the Divinity it so hungers for." When asked about dangers he smiles sadly, "Well, once you become a Godhead fully you won't be conscious of it, so you're already dead. However, the warning signs are moments where you lose control of yourself, your abilities will just activate without your bidding, and other things like that. To stop it you all will need to refrain from feeding the Shards. And finally, the last danger to be aware of is other Inheritors. If an Inheritor dies one can absorb their Shard's Divinity and use it to feed their Divinity sharply. However, doing this too much is the path to becoming a Godhead. A fair warning, if you consume an Inheritor's Shard that is the same Shard as your own will make you a Godhead instantly. Be aware of that."
>>
Hephaestus has healing powers if I remember correctly. so why is he killing people instead of curing their madness?
>>
>>19265950
> To stop it you all will need to refrain from feeding the Shards.
How does one do that then?
>>
>>19265950

I dont plan on hunting other Inheritors, believe me.

I don't think we should bring up the pen, always safe to keep an ace in the hole ya know?

Now ask him about the punching bags and training equipment.
>>
>>19265990

"Don't engage in Indulgences, don't devour any other Shards, and don't use any powers granted by the Shard." He said.

>>19265991
"Ah yes. Well, I established this place originally for myself to work out my own powers and train myself, but since you all are part of my Circle now, I welcome you all to use it to understand and train yourselves as well."
>>
>>19266011
So when we know our Shard identity, how do we stop indulgence?
>>
>>19265950
Does Apollo/William know what his indulgences is? It might be related to mine since i seem to have something to do with the sun.
>>
>>19266011

Well, take him up on the offer. Do our boxing routine, and see if we can coax the others into some training. We could also see how Sara is doing, and ask Gabby to help us find the identity of our shard.
>>
>>19266011
Where did he get this info?
>>
>>19266082

Like he already said, experience. We should ask him what his Indulgences are......
>>
>>19266038
>>19266039

"You can stop the Indulgences by just not doing them. Indulgences are actions that are outside of normal human behavior. For example, since I have Hephaestus' Shard one of my Indulgences is forging a net made out of gold. They are things in the legend of your Shard, or things that your Shard would do." he explained with a smile. As for William, yes, he is the Apollo Shard, his Indulgences are mostly arts related, though he occasionally does mysticism and prophesy to try and increase his Divinity when he finds it waning." He explained as William nodded, "I do Tarot reading, palm reading, and things like that. Those are called Allowances, things that do not actually increase your Divinity, but simply maintain you where you are at. Though in time the Allowances become more and more demanding..." he says darkly.

>>19266082
"Personal experience. I've been an Inheritor since I was ten." He said with a shrug. "I've held my Shard in check for eight years, and I am an Avatar because of it." he said and thumped his chest proudly.
>>
>>19266105

>>19266069
>>
>>19266105
"So, I feel invigorated in the sun, Is that an indulgence or what?"

"What's an avatar?"

>>19266069
>>19266141
We can box at home.
>>
>>19266105
Is there any way to know if the indulgences are successful? Could we do a lot of random stuff and suddenly know if we had done an indulgence?
>>
>>19266105
>>19266164
>>19266174

"That's simply an Allowance. Humans walk the sun regularly. Your invigoration is due to the Shard hungering so much for Divinity that what would normally be an Allowance is an Indulgence. When you have successfully completed an Indulgence you'll know. The Shard will react some way, and eventually it will be able to communicate with you. At that point it will be able to verbally confirm it with you.As for the sunlight, William experienced the same thing." He said and William walked over to you, "How about we talk over there? I can help you find out about your Shard. Apollo will guide me."

Taking you aside William sits down on a chair and orders you to kneel in front of him, takes your right hand and looks down at it, "Do you consent to my prophesy? It's easier if you allow it to work." He said and as he began whispering his eyes rolled back into his head and you feel the pull of some alien force on your insides. Do you allow it?
>>
>>19266197

Might as well learn about our shard sooner than later. Yeah, let him do it.
>>
>>19266197
Yeah, sure. What is the worst that could happen. But first use our understanding trait to see if he is honest.
>>
>>19266216
>>19266224

His intentions are shrouded behind a barrier of what you guess may be magic or something, but he seems honest enough as a person. You feel your insides laid bare before his mind and in a few moments he pulls back and lets go of your hand.

"You are a rare one. You have the Shard of Lugus, or Lugh, or Lug, Celtic God of Light, the Sun, War, and Lightning." He said and smiled, "I don't know much more, but I would talk to Sean, he's the best at understanding what you should and shouldn't be able to do. Welcome to the Circle." he offers you kindly.

Your friends are mixing with Sean's group, Travis especially is talking to Tanya with great interest as Gabby reads over her tarot cards and you notice the small black marks on her cheeks, almost like whisker marks.

=====UPDATE====

????:???? Becomes
Shard: Lugh Lhamfota (Lug of the Long Arm)

AND

?????:??? Becomes
Divinity: 1
================
>>
>>19266259
Huh, go talk to sean, I guess
>>
>>19266259

Well, first chance we get we need to read up on Lugh, he was mentioned earlier and I thought he was the best candidate. We need to learn our Indulgences and Allowances. Now that we know our shard, we should try to read the pen again, when we are safely in our house of course. For now, go talk to Sarah, and see how she's reacting to all this.
>>
>>19266269
Lug, eh. Guess we'll have to avoid slinging any one-eyed evil kings in the face if we don't want to trigger an indulgence.
>>
>>19266259
Look out for Sarah and go to talk together with Gabby. Ask them what they think about all of this. Tell Sarah that we distrust a bit on sean too, then tell both our identity as Lugh, and ask sarah about hers.
>>
>>19266333
>>19266350
>>19266333

Sarah seems to be keeping to herself, but in this company she at least has loosened her hoodie, but still hasn't taken it down. When she sees you she gives a quick smile, "So? How did it go?"

Sean seems to be busy at the moment talking to Travis who after exchanging a few words punches at Sean's stomach and the sound of metal ringing fills the warehouse as Sean laughs loudly and Travis shakes his hand, laughing as well.
>>
FUCK YES!
I opened my big book of mythology and found Lugh. And GUESS what powers we are going to have.
RESURRECTION!
Yes you heard me right! Lugh could actually resurrect his fallen comrades!
>>
>>19266362

"Lug, eh? That's really special. I haven't heard of any Irish Gods or Goddesses yet." She said with a smile, "I'm Hathor...the...Goddess of Fertility and Drink, as well as Motherhood. It's a strange one to have...she had a cow's head..." She says, dejectedly. Gabby walks over and cheers her up, "Don't worry, Sarah, I have Bastet, so if I'm not careful my head will become a cat's head!"
>>
>>19266366

Well, I'm a celtic war/flame/sun/lightning god. Seems pretty cool. How are you holding up?

Also, maybe Sean is an okay guy, MAYBE, but I'm still keeping an eye on him.
>>
>>19266378

Cat's head or cows head, you'll both still look cute to me.
>>
We should ask Sean how to train up our powers without indulging.
>>
>>19266405
>>19266435

Sarah flushes red and Gabby just punches you in the shoulder, "Knock it off, Casanova." Sean walks over and laughs, "So, Martin, tell me, which Shard do you have? William said it was something you'd want to tell me yourself." He said with a friendly smile. Now that you are more aware of this stuff it seems that you can detect just how powerful he is.

"Training your powers? Well, at lower levels of Divinity just using the powers will be like Indulging. There are different levels of using your Gifts. I can explain to you once you are capable of a few of them, but I can see the start of it." he said and taps your stomach where new-found abs now rest. "You've put on muscle mass because the Shard is strengthening you." He said and looked at you, "Right now the Shard is barely alive inside of you. If you want any sort of power you have to feed it a little bit. Give Lugh some food and then we'll talk about training yourself, ok champ?"

"Oh, you both have egiptian shards, at least you won't be going ginger as me.." Then look up to them and smile. " I'm going to check up on the other guys if you don't mind." Then do as we said, leave Travis for last, he seems to be having a good time with Sean, still keep an eye on him, he seems to really him.

>>19266457
Isn't high level of divinity a bad thing?

So how do I feed them? Just back in the sun all day?
>>
>>19266457

I don't exactly like the way he treats us. In any case, I guess we have to feed Lugh. So mythology majors, what were some things Lugh was famous for?
>>
>>19266488
>>19266497

"Well, that's true, a very high level is usually bad..." He said and pondered, "Ok, think of it this way. If Divinity is on a numeric scale you're at 1, maybe even 0.5. 10 is becoming a Godhead. The "sweet spot" is probably around 6 or 7." He said and smiled. "So you have a ways to go before you're in real danger. But it's dangerous to just be above 5, to be honest. As for feeding it...well, all War Gods love to fight. You don't seem to be a very violent person, so any fighting will be good. But fighting with vintage weapons would be a strong Indulgence and may jump start you." He said and smiled. "Of course, getting hit by lightning would probably do the same, but it may kill you like what happened to Chris."

Lead the Tuatha Dé Danann army against the Fomorians.

Sure there's a few slight hitches in that plan, but it would sure get our divinity level up.

we should start working out in the sun.

And by "working out", I mean we beat that fucking punching bag untill we literally can't anymore, and then punch it again.
>>
>>19266533

From what stands out, we could learn to play the Harp, learn to use a hunting sling, or just go around tricking evil people. Let's challenge William to a Harp-off, his harp against ours.
>>
>>19266555
>>19266559

"Oh! And before I forget, there are a couple of other little nuances to your Gifts...I'll teach you all of them in time, but play to your strengths. You're a smart man, I know, so Lugh's magic will come easier to you than his martial skills. Your mental powers are far more advanced than your physical powers, so keep that in mind." He said and waved as he went off to the back of the warehouse where you spot a forge and he snaps, lighting it and sets to work at the bellows trying to craft something.

(I need to vanish for about 3 hours gents, I'll be back then. We'll continue from there. If the thread 404's I'll start a new one. Any last questions/actions that we want to engage in for our scene change?)

"Very unfortunate what happened to Chris. I was in a situation like him, that storm last week? "I smith all the time." He says from across the room and smiles, "I'm actually...making you something right...now." he says and walks over with a huge spear and a harp made from a single body of metal with thin metal strings. "There you go, this should help you get started."

The spear of the warrior or the harp of the bard, which should you focus on?

(This will determine our first character growth off screen.)
>>
>>19266665
Harp would be mental skill, right? If so, then focus on it
>>
>>19266708

Alright, you got it.

You sit down with William and begin plucking at the harp, his own harp seems to be made of some delicate pale wood and he teaches you with extremely wise words, your fingers awkward for the first few moments before you sense something from inside you stirring as you learn....And time begins to pass....

(See you guys in a few hours)

Also an Irish Wolfhound, we need one as soon as possible, preferably one with a red coat.

You finish practicing with William, having put several hours into this your fingers are pained and sore, but you feel much better in some indescribable way. "You are free to stay here, if you wish." Sean offers as he indicates a series of simple beds and cots that are all along the left-most wall. "I don't know about your home life, but you can stay here if you want." He offers politely. You see Gabby consider it but eventually she joins you and Travis in your car to go home.

After dropping everyone off you wind up back at your house, exhausted from your busy day. Today was a very very big day, and it's nearly dawn on Saturday. Fortunately you don't have work today, but that doesn't make you any less tired. You can barely think as you climb into your bed and pass out.

When you wake up next it's 10 AM Saturday, a mere 4 hours after you returned home. However, the sun's rays washed over your sleeping form and you were filled to the brim with energy. Feeling like you just got through with eight hours of very comfortable sleep you stretch and blink a few times. Today marks a new beginning. What shall we do?
>>
Reporting for duty!
>>
>>19268713

Half and half, Harp practice and Spear throwing. We can get some dummy targets set up right?
>>
>>19268764

You go down to the basement and get some wooden targets, in truth just large pieces of wood, and set them up outside. Now you try your hand at the spear and feel like a damn fool as you feebly hurl it down the yard, mostly just ripping up the back yard.

After five hours of this you set to your harp, which you are infinitely more successful at having been educated by William. You check your phone and see that Sean has sent you a text message letting you know about another get together, this one optional, to be held tomorrow.

You finish your harp training which leaves you at 8 PM hungry and tired since the sun is down now. You see Hannah for the first time in what seems like a week and she seems surprised to see you. "Hello, Marty, nice hair." She says with a polite nod of her head as she heats up some mac'n'cheese.
>>
>>19268713
Make sure to contact our guys between exercise and other activities, a good leader keeps in touch.

Let's read up about this Lug guy, the more we know, the better, contact Gabby and see if we can hang out in her place (she's the one with the books and tarot cards right?), we could boost each other abilities, some tarot reading out in the sun, we'll play the harp for her. If she's not available then contact Sarah and see what she's up to.

(Not looking for a waifu, but it seems these girls are our closest allies, what with Travis spending a lot of time with Sean)

Feasibility on acquiring a dog? also seconding the staying in contact with everyone we talked to, seeing how their opinions have or have not changed. My suggestion is to not practice throwing the spear so much as wielding it, there is a reason that the celts only carried 2 spears at most, they wernt meant to just be thrown around,
>>
>>19269054

Yes, but Lugh's spear flew back to him. Once we throw it, it will come back to us, to be used as a normal fighting spear. But, we should also be capable to wield it in either capacity.

You make a mental note to contact Sarah and Gabby as well as do some study on Lug.

"Resent him? No, not really." She says with a smile, "He's doing everything he can for us, I'm grateful he works so hard. I miss him, but I value his time all the more when he's back because of it." She answers and picks up her food and starts to eat it.

Spear throwing seems to be something you'll really have to look for, let's review what we know...

=================

You realize you don't really know that many others in the group, probably something to check up on.

For some reason the idea of a dog occurs to you and you write down to call a kennel tomorrow when they'll be open. You leave Hannah to her own devices and grab your phone.

You call everyone up and they all seem to be feeling much better about their various powers. You introduce yourself more properly to Ian and then you properly meet Lynn, Sam, and Richard, the last members of your group. They aren't sure about their Shards yet, but they want to have William tell them tomorrow. You also get in touch with Travis and Gabby. Gabby is working hard on understanding what her Shard will do for her, while Travis seems to be keeping his on the down low. Either he's uninterested or he's hiding it very well.

Is it too late for ordering some pizza? Let's bro it up with Travis, he seems distant. Beer pizza, maybe there's a game on TV today, maybe some videogames and some time with a bro will keep him up.
>>
>>19269204

Oh and the spear.
>>
>>19269111
>>19269204

Sarah is the last person you call and she tells you that she's made some big developments as far as her own powers go, but she seems a little uncomfortable about the changes that are happening to her. She tells you that she's a little uncomfortable.

You manage to call a pizza in and head over to Travis' house. He's surprised to see you this late at night; honestly you used to be more close to Andrew before this whole Inheritors affair started. He welcomes you in regardless and the two of you stay up and watch movies, play video games, and chat. You keep off the topic of Inheritors, your understanding showing you that he's uncomfortable, but as you leave he looks at you and says.

"I've been dying my hair for the past week. I...I have the Shard of Poseidon." He says and sighs, "I didn't want to let people know because my Shard isn't....as noble or good as others." He admits glumly as he rubs his neck. "I'll be there tomorrow, Marty, if you hadn't come, I may have just skipped out on this. Thank you."
>>
>>19269288

Hey, you're not alone there, man. My god can be a huge dick at times. He's poisoned a fuck load of people and sent others on impossible quests'. Poseidon doesnt seem so bad.

When the meeting starts tomorrow, we gotta make sure to help Sarah feel better. Having a cow head probably sucks.

There is nothing to be ashamed of with the shard of Poseidon, the sea is a powerful force. one which deserves respect.

The next day you bring your harp and spear into the car and drive to the local dog kennel. You don't find a red Wolfhound, but you do find a huge gray one that looks to be about a year or two old, a male. It'll cost you $200 to buy this dog, he's in top condition and is a purebreed.

As you drive to Sean's meeting you get a call from Sarah who meekly asks you to pick her up for the meeting. You acquiesce and grab her, and after thanking you she just sits in the car with her horns hidden by a large hat. Sarah's face hasn't quite become a cow's yet, but you can see her horns have grown noticeably since the last time you saw her, yesterday evening.

You arrive and Sean is in the middle of the warehouse again, but this time the chairs are gone and there's a ring drawn in the middle of the room with chalk. He has his shirt off and has heavy metal bracers around his wrists. "Thank you all for coming. Today we're going to do our first study in our Gifts. There are many kinds of Gifts. Alterations are the most subtle and the most immediate. You all have noticed that your hair, eyes, and even bodies have changed a little." He says and looks around at everyone.

"These changes make you strong, make you taller, they are the Shard's power trying to make your body a reflection of their old selves. Even a god or goddess who isn't attached to war, depending on Pantheon, will usually have greater strength and speed." He examines everyone for a moment, asking for questions.
>>
>>19269288
Dude, chill. Poseidon might have been a douche a lot of the time in Greek myth, this doesn't mean you have to. Yeah, you might have his powers but you still have your own force of will. Just don't go around cahnging people into gorgons or changing the direction of boats and you'll be ok. See ya tomorrow!
>>

And I assume we're gonna do some physical training today, shi-fu?

"Greek Gods and Goddesses, Aztec Gods, and Mesopotamian Gods and Goddesses all are always stronger, faster, and healthier than they used to be. Norse and Egyptian Gods and Goddesses aren't usually too different. Gods and Goddesses who rule over War, Hunting, or things of that nature also tend to grow in strength." He said and grinned at your question. "Yes, today we're going to fight with just our Alterations. No magic or other Talents, just our strength and whatever training the Shard may have given us." He said.

Stepping out of the ring he called Travis into the ring. "Now, Travis here is an Olympian, so let's see what he can do against.....Ian." Ian looked surprised as he walked into the ring. Both men remove their shirts and it's clear from just looking that Travis is overwhelmingly more muscular than Ian. "Now, Ian, who is your Shard?" The freshman boy hesitated briefly before saying, "I am the Shard of Thoth, Egyptian God of Knowledge." He said and you can see that nothing looks strong about him. When Sean snaps his fingers you see Ian raise his dukes and Travis rush in on him quickly and kicks his stomach, causing the freshman to collapse onto the ground and roll onto his side.

Sean helps Ian up and as he explains, "Now, neither of them are war gods. However, all Greek Shards give something called 'Olympian Physique' which grants them power and durability. Most Olympians with at least say...five Divinity, become immune to mundane cutting weapons." He says and looks over everyone.

We work a part-time job that pays us fairly reasonably. It's not a lot of work though, only about 10-20 hours a week. Most of our money comes from the monthly stimulus from Dad.
>>
>>19269540

"So, who wants the first round?" He asks with a smile as he steps outside of the ring. Everyone looks around awkwardly. Richard, one of the people you chatted with last night, steps into the ring. You can't quite remember what Shard he had, but from a look at him it seems that he has an enhanced physique like you. Do you want to step up?
>>
>>19269602
We Rocky now. Let's put this boxing experience to use.

Let's tal to Sarah, she seem to be the one with the most developed features of her shard, ask her if she's been feeding her shard, and make small talk with her how has her life changed, what she's been up to. She'll need a lot of support to accept herself and her shard.
>>
>>19269602

Oh hell yeah, let's see what we can do.
>>
>>19269620

You strip off your shirt as well, leaving you to look at Richard. Trying to wrack your memory for who Richard is you remember him as a sophomore who was on the baseball team. He seems to be in good shape, but you should have the edge here.

"Begin, please." Sean orders with a clap. You know from your training and from your gut feeling, which you start to guess is your Shard helping, that you should strike first.

Damnit, why didn't you roll sooner?
>>
>>19269674
>>19269632
>>19269722

Damn fine roll, oh shit a nat 6.

You jump forward and Richard barely gets his fists up as you swing a quick one-two-combo. The first hit probes Richard's guard and he shifts to defend the same spot. Rookie mistake.

You smash your cross through the opening in his guard and he wobbles on the spot. A blow that should normally dislocate your finger doesn't seem to bother you much as you push on more and shoot for his stomach, his face, and weave his blows. The match is decided when you get a solid hit in his liver, which stuns him and drops him to his knees and Sean calls a stop. Even Sean seems stunned at how effectively you handled Richard. "Well done." He said and encourages some more fights.

As people go at it you talk to Sarah, checking on her. She admits that she has been feeding her shard and she tells you that she's lucky that her parents are out of town and that she's an only child. She's had no problem with people at home and has been developing her magic. At the mention of magic Sean looks over at the two of you and smiles, "Are we already doing magic? Should I just give you all the full information on Gifts' types? Or do we want to learn slowly?"
>>
>>19269747

Might as well. Wink at Sarah, and produce our harp. "Can this augment my magic skills?"
>>

"Alright, I'll give you guys the full skinny." Sean says as he sits down in the middle of the ring. "Now, I will tell you this with a warning, do not try to reach for more than I advise you each to do. If you do, you could wind up like Chris."

He starts, "Alterations are the first and lowest, as I said. The next on the list is Magic, but in the category of magic there is Enhancement, and then there's Evocation. Second from the highest is Channeling. And the most difficult and advanced Gift is Manifestation." He says before elaborating.

"Enhancement is using your Shard's power and your Shard's experience to make yourself better at one of the skills it possessed in its time as a Deity. Evocation is calling elements or creatures related to your Shard from one place to another. Channeling is using the energy or element associated with your Shard to enhance yourself further or something of that sort. And lastly Manifestation is calling an item or even a creature from legend into reality with your power. As such it's the hardest and most taxing, as well as most dangerous to do."
>>
>>19269917

I assume what you and William used on Aaron was manifestation? Your hammer and his bow?
>>
>>19269917
"Last time, you mentioned being an Avatar, what is that? Full control of your abilities without risk of becoming a godhead, cause you seemed to go full aggro on Chris last time."
>>
>>19269960
>>19269969

"Not quite. What I used was an Evocation to call metal to my hand, and William did the same to evoke fire in the shape of his bow. However, that wasn't the Bow of the Sun, and I didn't call my Hammer of Olympus. William cannot call his, and I do not like the exhaustion from calling mine." He said and then smiled, "That's a very advanced secret. But for now, yes, I am a perfect Inheritor. That's good enough to know. However, what I did could be done by someone who was only at a Divinity of roughly 7." He explained. "When you are more experienced with your Gifts you will learn how to use them most effectively."
>>
>>19270003

Well let's stop dicking about, damnit. How does we go about Enhancement?
>>
>>19270068

"Enhancement comes either passively, through your Shard granting knowledge, or you can actively try to pull its skill from within yourself and force yourself to grow, but it exhausts you and will consume a large amount of Divinity."
>>
>>19270147

And Evocation?

We should try to conjure a lightning spear/flame shield combo.
>>
>>19270161

"Evocation for you might be calling a bolt of lightning from the sky, calling sunlight like William did, or even calling a pack of dogs." he said and chuckled, "It's hard to guess all the possibilities you have access to, you just have to see for yourself."
>>

>>19274188

Then let's proceed, hoping more will join us as we continue.

Having explained all the various types of Gifts to you, Sean resumes managing fights between various initiates and as he does so you are left with some free time. William is playing the harp and talking to someone who wants to know their shard, it seems. Ian, the Shard of Thoth, is sitting on a chair in the corner of the room and reading. Gabby is beside him reading as well, curious about her tarot again as always.

You have mostly free reign, and here would be a good place as any to try and test something out, if you wanted to do something crazy. What should you do?
>>
>>19274220

Could we siphon electricity from the lights using evocation and form a spear out of that? If so, try it.
>>
>>19274220
anyone here who can teach us spear-fighting and throwing?
If not, lets get some harp practice with William.
>>
>>19274255
>>19274258

Maybe Sean could teach you spear techniques since he knows archaic weapons so well. However, the idea pops into your head to siphon electricity from the lights. You could try to evoke a spear, though that may be a little above your head. Sean, also, did not say for you to try it. However, you think you can do it.

Now how to go about it...you slightly edge away from the group and stand near a particularly strong light and reach out your hand. As soon as you focus on the light you feel the Shard inside of you stir slightly, curiously, as you breathe in and out slowly, you can see the electricity running up and down the wires, seeing it as white lines zipping through the device. However, no matter how hard you focus you can't pull it or control it in any way. Something seems to be missing...like a focus for you to direct the lightning with, or something. The lightning seems leery to just approach your flesh.
>>
>>19274258
Yeah or sling-stone. Lug also used a sling-stone.
>>
>>19274291
Try again with the pen as a base
>>
>>19274316

You read my mind. Chris probably used the Pen like we are going to, though, so we have to be careful.
>>
>>19274316
>>19274334

You remember not bringing the pen because you wanted to keep it safe from Sean's knowledge, but you're certain that you could use either the harp or the spear he made for you to channel the lightning, if you still want to pursue that route. Your spear is laying up against the wall not too far away and your harp beside it.
>>
>>19274363

Spear, the harp we can use for some other magic.
>>
>>19274375

Settling on your spear your grab it in your hands, the cold metal stinging slightly as you walk up to the light fixture and focus against on the electricity. You see it running through the metal. As you harken it forth with your willpower you see it slightly concentrate but then fade away. You can't make the lightning leap out of the light yet, it seems, if you can do even that.

You gently take the point of the spear and press it against the metal as you focus. Instantly energy fills your whole body as your eyes fly wide open and sparks fly from the point of your spear and cover the floor.

"Enough, Martin!" You hear a strong but familiar voice roar inside your head. "Remove the spear!" You decide that perhaps it is best to listen and as you pull away the spear from the light you feel the sensation of another presence inside of you, a smaller mind and consciousness that you can detect inside of you but you cannot fathom. It is hidden behind myriad locks and barriers, but you know who this is.

"Yes, Martin. I am Lugh." The voice intones and you can hear the age, the wisdom, and the music in its voice. Your body twitches slightly from the energy having run through you. Fortunately, you seem to be unharmed from the exchange.

"Martin! Are you ok!?" Gabby says as she and many other of your comrades run over. "The lights flickered and you looked like you got shocked, are you ok?" She asked worriedly as Sean cuts through the crowd, "I'm sure he's fine." He states flatly as he looks over you, "Still..." he takes the spear from your hands and your hands are turned red and raw, "Best let William fix you up." He suggested.
>>
>>19274459
You are seated in front of William who pour water on your hand and chants softly, then wipes your hands, and when they're dry the wounds are washed away like dirt. Sean is seated close to you and he says, "So, you've committed your first Indulgence. How do you feel?"
>>
>>19274459

I feel pretty damn good, actually. Might as well see what William can do though.

So, can we talk to Lugh and have him instruct us in spear-craft?
>>
>>19274464

Well, Lugh just spoke to me. Is that normal? What level am I now?
>>
>>19274499
>>19274512

"I'm not sure, but if you can speak with your Shard then you're probably around 3. You'll notice the Alterations happening a lot more rapidly now. But yes, don't worry, it's perfectly normal." He said and smiled.

As you reach into your mind and try to converse with Lugh he apologizes, "I am truly sorry, Martin, but I cannot give you that knowledge, I do not have the power to." he said, his ability to grant you knowledge and power, of course, directly related to the Divinity he has. At the moment you have barely fostered sentience in your Shard, asking more might risk the Shard becoming inert. However, during that time where the lightning raced through you it was without a doubt a moment of "Enhancement" magic, though it was unconscious. Some of Lugh's ancient knowledge bled into you with the lightning as its conduit.

"Martin," Lugh begins, "I am still too feeble to grant most of your requests."
>>

It's cool, Lugh. If you're feeling tired, just chill for now. As for us, Harp battle with William.

You talk to Sean and he says that while he's not nearly as good as a Shard of Athena, Shard of Ares, or Shard of Heimdall would be, he's not in a bad place to teach.

A few hours pass of you narrowly dodging spear thrust and shaft strike as Sean rains blows down on you before he finally scores a very deep cut across your deltoid. William heals you back up and then you get to attack. Your spear attacks are much more concentrated, maybe from watching Sean, but you feel that having Lugh awake inside of you almost makes your attacks more focused. He is forced to block rather than evade several times and at the end of the night you manage to trip him with a shaft strike and he winds up on his backside on the ground, impressed.

"Not bad at all, Martin, you seem to have a knack for combat." You heart is pounding from the physical exertion but you also feel that Lugh has grown slightly stronger and more active because of combat, it seems that fighting with the spear truly invigorates him, but it drains your body.

You bid farewell at the end of the night, drop Sarah off at home, and then return to your home. Once there you immediately take up the silver pen and this time you can read it very clearly, even in the dim light of your bedside lamp.

"Lightning spear and storm filled sky, warrior heart and poet's soul, raise in need with this strong cry, Lugh Lamfhota Barra Toll."

It's a strange chant almost and as you hold the pen you feel it surge with energy, almost as if it were reacting to the Shard inside of you.

"What is that you are holding?" Lugh asks curiously, "It is delicious. It is filled with energy for me."
>>
>>19274645
>>19274654
>>19274663

But we also need to keep good relations with our League. Spear training, then take Sarah home.
>>
>>19274757
Ask if Lugh knows what "Lugh Lamfhota Barra Toll" means.
>>
>>19274780

"It is a bad interpretation of old Celtic." He explained, "It means 'Lug Long-Arm's Spear Pierce.' Simply put, it is a ritual. But I do not know what the maker intended to do with it, nor what it would do if you were to recite it yourself." The Shard explained and as you converse with it you notice the energy in the pen draining as the Shard, presumably, begins feeding on it through contact with you.
>>
>>19274824
Let him feed on it, don't try to use the ritual until we have a better grasp on it. But I don't mind feeding our bro Lugh.
>>
>>19274824
Start questioning Lugh about what he Can tell us. Who he was, what he did, his current limits and so on. We need as much information we can get from him at his current state.
>>
>>19274839
>>19274856

As you hang onto the pen and the Divinity dwindles slowly from it he speaks. "I am Lugh Lamfhota, the Long Armed for my spear throwing skills. I was a God of War and Light. Foremost I am a bard, a druid, a poet, and a jack of all trades, but I am still a warrior to be respected. At this moment my limits are very vast. I can barely interact with you at this level. However, if you simply hold this item in your hand for an hour every night, even if you do nothing else, I will be able to sustain myself. This will be sufficient." He explains as he clearly draws from the pen. The Divinity in the pen appears to be massive, to the point where you are surprised you couldn't see or notice it before. "I do not know what effects our union will have on you, but I do know that if you were to increase the amount of power I had I could teach you all of the Old Ways." He promises in your head.
>>
>>19274971
Could he teach us Old Celtic? It would be nice to understand the chanting in our head.
>>
>>19275013

"To my great shame I do not even remember my old tongue. I have slumbered far too long and am far too weak at this point to teach you anything. As with everything else, I promise you with more energy I can teach you everything." He assured you, "I do not even understand the language you speak now, but I can understand your thoughts, which is why our language barrier is non-existent, I would hazard." he explained before the energy returned to the pen as he let out a sigh of contentment. "That is all I can consume for the day without risking harm to you, Martin."
>>
>>19274971
>>19275049
Lugh, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

I'll start with the jack of all trades bit, the bard and poet bit and all the magic within that. We'll do warrior stuff on the side and I'll feed you what I can within reason.
>>
>>19274757

Well next time we fight something that wants us dead, we know what to wield and what to shout.
>>
>>19275049
"Would learning smithing make you stronger?"
Also Martin should read up on Lugh on Wikipedia.
>>
>>19275068
>>19275153
>>19275138

"Certainly. I believe we can find a benevolent path for the both of us. I was no poor smith, but it was not one of my strongest features. We will talk about this tomorrow, you seem weary, Martin." he explained and eventually weariness indeed overtook you and sleep claimed you again, though you were sure to note to look up Lugh and learn more about him in the morning.

That night you dreamed again, dream of war and strife. However this time the words were more understandable, and you were able to pick out the name "Lugh" several times. From your perspective, which you imagine must be Lugh's, you held a golden spear which would strike with a thunderclap as he threw it into his foes, the ensuing light and explosion terrible for the Romans to face. However, something went wrong and Lugh's body flickered and his connection to the physical world vanished and he was unable to help his army, his worshippers, from being overwhelmed by the red and silver armies.

You awaken the next morning and as the sun hits you Lugh sighs, "Oh to be able to feel the light of grian again." He said happily and indeed you feel your body strengthening. As you walk into the bathroom you notice your hair is now completely fire-red, and a patch of facial hair which had no chance of being there last night, appeared around your chin and upper lip as well as a light dusting on your cheeks.

Today you have work, and they don't remember you being a red-head, but you could probably pass it off as dye or something, if questioned. You shower and think about it. Work indeed does call you, but so does your harp and spear, as well as experimenting more with your connection to Lugh.

What should you do? Work will take up most of your morning and leave you exhausted.
>>
>>19275204
We've got responsibilities so we go to work. We need cash so we can get a wolfhound named Failinis.

Also we'll deal with exhaustion with a bit of sunlight.

>>
>>19275244

>>
>>19275153

You head to work and sweat it out like a good employee, though you do slip away for a lunch break and just bask in the strong sunlight, returning vigor to you. "I will capture some of this and allow you to restore later, Martin." Lugh explained and you finished out your shift.

Once done you head home, shower, and inside the room Lugh says, "Face that reflective surface and close your eyes." Once you do you feel heat radiating from you and the energetic feeling that the sun's light gives you. It appears that Lugh can capture a very small amount of it, enough for a quick pick me up. "WIth more energy, Martin, you too will be able to do that and much more." he explained kindly.

Restored fully now you wander around the house idly and check your bank account on a whim. There appears to be $200 more than where you remember it. You wrack your mind and remember that your Dad promised to send you some money as a belated gift.

It's only 7 PM and you are fresh and ready. What should we do?

1) Try to heighten our Divinity further to increase Lugh's, and thus our, power.

2) Practice with what we have and get more accustomed to the Alterations.

3) Try to explore our powers now and see if there's anything we don't know about.

4) Go looking for trouble/fun. Lugh is a Celtic god and thus loves a good fight as well as some drink. Andrew is always a big drinker and if you went and partied with him who knows what could happen
>>
>>19275354
It's probably too late to get the puppy today, but we have the dosh to get him now.

For now let's practice what we have and get more accustomed to our alterations. We might even get a nice beard out of this, which is pretty damn cool. We'll be the only redheaded bearded guy around.
>>
>>19275310
I would think Smithing is something he would be good at since he was fostered by a smith.

If that fails, pardy hardy!
>>
>>19275401
>>19275409
>>19275522

You decide on the middle road. You grab your harp and head over to Andrew's after cleaning up your facial hair a little bit and messing with your hair. It's odd to have hair like this all of the sudden, but it's easily forgettable for you. Andrew greets you with a roaring laugh, "Nice hair man, you look like a real ginger. Alright, come on in, let's get to it!"

Inside are a few of your mutual friends and after a lot of liquor and beer they're on the floor and you and Andrew are sitting up, you're playing the harp with insane skill and Andrew's singing along stupidly.

"Jeez, Marty..." he drawls after you finish, "Where'd you learn to play like that? I had no idea you were so good at this stuff...and the hair. Everyone's gotten so weird lately..." he says and hiccups as Lugh sings along in your head to the song you just finished. You hear his voice more clearly now and even get an image of him in your mind for a moment.

He's a slight man with a clean red goatee, long red hair in braids, a helm, a tartan shroud around his shoulders and chain armor around his torso. He holds his spear over his head as he signs and laughs, leaning back in the black void where he currently sits and the image fades suddenly. Lugh's strength has notedly grown, so much so in fact that once you've stumbled home you can see your eyes have changed from brown to bright acid green.

As you go to sleep you hear Lugh chanting the same chant you hear as other Inheritors come close and to your surprise you can pick up tiny bits and pieces of it. It seems his passive-Enhancements are working on you the more and more you feed him, just like he said.

The next morning you wake up feeling good and realize you didn't dream at all. Today's another day of school, but it's overcast and the storm clouds block the sun. However, oddly, today the sound of thunder and lightning excites you more. "Friend Martin, why don't we go and pursue the storm? Bring your spear and I can teach you some long forgotten things." He offered. You also have enough money for your dog, which you could pick up today before anyone scoops it up.
>>
>>19275559
That sounds like an excellent plan my friend. To the storm and lightning.

Also Lugh, I was planning on picking up a wolfhound, much like one you were reputed to have. I was thinking of naming it Failinis.
>>
>>19275552
FUCK YES! We need to get that B- to and A!

WE ARE STORMCHASERS!
>>
Next time we go to Sean's training we will bring beer for all!
>>
>>19275559

Chase the strom! And then grab H of C, if theres enough time, duck into last class of the day.
>>
>>19275591

I was liking the sound of The Hound of Culann, which was another name for Cuchulain, Lugh's son.
>>
>>19275559
Call in 'under the weather' at least first. And point out that we can't simply go full wanderer just yet, so we have some ties to town and the public; aka, full on abandoning our 'normal' life is a bad idea.
And after this storm-chasing, we really really need to start applying some of these skills and broadening them. Celts are incredible generalists, and we're trying to rush to power when we know that could end badly instead of expanding what we can do with what we have. (Not to mention, we probably will still have some serious issues with taking a full lightning strike, so don't agree to that when we're out.)

As you climb into the car, forsaking school but giving them a call for good measure, Lugh mentions, "This is an odd device. When we find the time we shall get ourselves a horse we shall name her Buaidh and I will teach you to be a rider like myself. For now, however, this will suffice."

You take off like a shot down the road and chase the lightning, letting the rain hammer your car as Lug mentions, "Ah, that hound you mentioned, that would be grand. I have long missed my friend. You knew his name? You are indeed a good friend." Eventually you stop the car and climb a tall hill, looking up at the storm.

"Martin! I have seen some of your memories. The man Chris who fell to the lightning, he was not ready for it, he sought too soon. You, however, are ready. Embrace the kiss of the skies, extend your hand and call for it, let our power surge!" Lugh urges you as the silver pen in your pocket glows warmer with eagerness as you glance up at the torrential downpoor.

Do you want to take his advice. The lightning seems, again, loathe to strike your flesh, but you could probably call it down to you with the pen and your word alone.
>>
>>19275678

Lets trust Lugh. Do it.
>>
>>19275678
Ask Lugh if he is COMPLETELY sure we wont die or turn into a godhead, We need to be certain.
>>
>>19275698
>>19275706

"I know not what a Godhead is, but what good is there to life if you do not live it, Martin? I am not completely sure, but I trust in your strength. I trust in our bond!"
>>
>>19275678

We are gonna look straight off the cover of an 80's power metal album.

Do it.
>>
>>19275678
Plant the spear in the ground and have that take the lightning, then touch the spear. Don't take the lightning directly, use a conduit of some sort to harness it.
>>
>>19275737
Or use that as a backup plan if we cant hold the lightening.
>>
>>19275678
I'm just a bit worried about how demanding/ordering/directing he's being. And I'm the one just up above who already said to avoid calling the lightning (I suspect we'd survive, though). I advise against this as it is likely raw strength, and more of it going to him and not us, of sorts.
Later on, consider turning some of his smithing/generalism towards tasks he wouldn't have had a chance to do, like dealing with engines and such. Though fire may not be as good as introducing him to the internet and it's various media.
>>
>>19275721
After this we should tell Lugh what a Godhead is and the dangers involved.
>>
>>19275737

We sadly didn't bring the spear with us. We could try to summon it, but that may be a stretch for us.

>>19275768

>>19275723
>>19275706
>>19275698

You decide to trust your Shard. You grab the pen and thrust it high into the sky. It doesn't take much more as you begin to will the lightning and a massive bolt arcs down and strikes the end of the pen. The energy rushes through you and you are eclipsed by a blinding light and warmth as you feel energy course through you, "YES! THAT IS A WHISPER OF THE OLD POWER!!"

The lightning stops as you breathe out and your whole body hums with energy as you look down at your hands, the sight of your flesh startles you as it seems radiant and vibrant, as if you are more alive than you've ever been. You look at your car and Lugh considers it, "Such a needles device...don't you agree, my friend?" he asks and a chant appears in your mind which you intone dully.

A massive black stallion with a lightning-bolt shaped white mark on its neck. You mount it easily and shoot across the flatlands. You seem to be more of an observer to your actions than a commander, and in truth Lugh seems to be talking to you out of courtesy or something like that.

You ride off far far away from the town and wind up in a thick part of the forest. You stop on the horse and you see something in the distance, a massive amount of Divinity, but without a human cage. "What is this?" You wonder and the horse strolls towards it.
>>
>>19275767
If we do ride the lightning anyways, this would be the way to do it. Indirect harnessing seems a good idea. And let him know that just because we'd survive it doesn't mean it'd be a good idea; some caution and curiosity isn't a bad thing.
>>
>>19275805
Try to steer a bit to the side of the Divinity, we don't want to get involved with quite that much without observing the situation first. It could be risky as all hell and I don't want to go Godhead.

Tell Lugh about the dangers involved and how as much as we like him if that happens we will be hunted and hounded.
>>
>>19275805
Oh no! We need to stop doing this! ASK LUGH IF WE CAN HAVE OUR BODY BACK! And failing that try to force yourself back!
>>
>>19275805

You find a...thing. You can't describe what it is, but it's roughly twelve feet tall, with knobbled gray flesh and a hideous face. "What is this monster?" Lugh asks as you see that it is just a large amount of Divinity given form. It roars at you and Lugh sneers. "It is quarry."

Without delay the horse charges and the beast hefts a large stone over its head to strike you down. As the horse nears the target Lugh throws his hand up and calls, "Barra!!! Toll!" Lightning strikes again and now a quivering golden spear is in your hand, and with expertise it is hurled through the creature, leaving it gasping as a hole the size of a car is blown through it and it collapses onto its knees, dead. The spear returns to your hand briefly before becoming a pen again.

The horse vanishes suddenly from under you and you collapse as well, your body exhausted as you are back in full control, Lugh gasping, "What...has happened?!" He demands in surprise as you can barely move yourself. The pen remains in your hand now where the spear was and you are shaking all over.

You have no idea where you are, and you can scarcely move. However, the feeling of power the lightning gave you has long faded, but control has returned to you.
>>
>>19275862
>>19275852

Your efforts were futile, but Lugh's intentions weren't insidious, more like a child enjoying a new toy without regard for everyone else.

As the two of you lay there he states, "I am very sorry, Martin. I simply grew excited with having some of my old energy back, I did not mean to wrest control from you. I will not let it happen again, I promise you." he said mournfully. "Pray, tell me what is a Godhead, though?"
>>
>>19275865

Oh shit, we need to calm the hell down.
>>
>>19275865
Well, that was exciting. I think we rode the lightning. It was good fun but we should be careful about this in the future.

Once we regain a bit of strength we should investigate the thing we just slew.

>>19275883
A Godhead is what happens if you take full control, go mad and there is nothing left of me. It may not seem that bad for you, except people tend to hunt you down and I happen to like living.
>>
>>19275915
Or at least, that's what Sean said. We're not fully trusting of him, due mostly to those messages that one guy tried to send us before he got blown away.

Which reminds me, if Lugh can think of any poisons which might work on Sean, keep them in mind. We're not going to be able to beat him in a straight fight.
>>
>>19275883
"As you probably noticed i posses an fragment of your Inheritance. With this i can call on your powers and i slowly change to start looking more like you. But if we change to much we can lose control. You would think that that would mean you were free to do as you like, but that is not the case. We have seen the Godhead of Zeus and it seemed like he was out of his mind and he started attacking people randomly.

We do not yet know much more, but i want to be careful so we don't hurt people."

"I see. We will have to ponder this Sean further. For now, however, we should get moving back to your device." He said and suddenly you feel much better. "That's all the spare energy I have for now...I need to rest for the moment, I'm sorry Martin." He said before going quiet, but still just resting inside you. You walk up to the monster and see the massive chest wound it received isn't dripping with blood but with what appears to be strings of gold and silver which vanish as they touch the ground. When you catch one you feel that it's raw Divinity, in a natural form. You've never been told about this, or at least, you don't remember what this could be. Perhaps something to question Sean about.

With a bit of thinking and a lot of jogging you run all the way back to your car, which is fortunately safe and sound. You climb back in and check the clock. This adventure took you all the way to 4 PM, and your cellphone, which was in the car, has two messages. One from Travis saying that he wants to go to the beach this weekend, and one from Ian who wants you to come by his house as soon as school's over, saying that it's urgent.

You get one message from him telling you to climb into his room using the tree in the yard. Once you do so you arrive in the dark room as Ian calls from the bathroom, "Oh, Martin, it's you. Hello. Please, take a seat."

When you sit down you see the door open and Ian steps out. When you saw him last he was a 5' 7" skinny boy. Now he stands about seven feet tall with a massive red bird's head where his used to be. "I'm....in a bad spot." He explained, struggling to be heard as he hefts a massive tome which you see is written in hieroglyphics. "I think I overdosed on Divinity....I studied and did too much magic...I'm....very close to becoming a Godhead. I have to fight Thoth's magic every moment. I need help. Please...I panicked and contacted you, I'm sorry, Martin. Help me somehow." He begged you as he looked over at you with his large yellow bird's eyes. The bird is a thin river-bird, maybe like a stork or an Egyptian swan or something.

"Be careful, Martin, I can smell his magic from here. We have no magical resistance, any spell he casts on us will hit us full force. Unless we get lucky and he uses lightning."
>>
>>19276104
Let him punch us! Give him Beer! Do all the things Thoth would not have done!
>>
>>19276104

Put down the tome, Ian. You just need to sit, and stay calm.

Powers receed over time when you you don't Indulge them right? So if we just make sure he doesnt do anything knowledge related, he'll slowly change back to normal.
>>
>>19276104
Come on Ian, talk to me. Tell me about what makes Ian who he is. What are your hobbies, what do you do for fun, tell me who you are in every detail. Do you have siblings, what do you eat for breakfast. Keep on telling me who Ian is.

What would Thoth not do, would he drink a beer, get into a barfight, sit on the couch and watch reruns of old TV.
>>
>>19276123
YES. I think this is the answer. Drink and fight and act like a retard in general.
>>

"That's a good idea, Martin!" Ian says happily as he grabs the handle to his mini-fridge, opens it up and gets a drink, moves to the bed, and then suddenly freezes. He drops the beer onto the ground and then looks at you with strangely different eyes.

"I do not want to drop the tome, Lugh of Hibernia." The bird intones in a voice far different from Ian's. "Your interference is appreciated from concern, but there is no need. Begone, I have many works to do to prepare this new world for the dawn of a new age of knowledge." Thoth says as his thin Egyptian fingers race to the latch on the tome, reaching to open it as he chants in what must be his native tongue.

"Martin, this isn't good. From what you've told me he's in a dangerous place. His control seems weak....what can we do?"

A Shard does weaken over time, but you have the issue of Ian being 90% Thoth at this point, it's a miracle he's held him back for this long. What should you do? You could call Sean, but it would take him a while to get here. You have anyone's number from the meetings. Or you could take action yourself.
>>
>>19276187

Beat him up and pour alcohol down his throat and make him watch MTV.
>>
>>19276187
Turn on our Understanding, see if we can find a chink in Thoth's reasoning to convince him that going full bore on knowledge like this will hurt his quest for learning.

Thoth, if you keep up like this you will be hunted, you know this, and you don't have any good time to read, and learn and prepare the world when people are hunting you. Just get a beer and let the knowledge come at its own pace, don't try to force knowledge, you know that doesn't work.
>>
>>19276187

punch him out and then force him to drink beer.
>>
>>19276187
Sean said folowing about enhancement: "Enhancement comes either passively, through your Shard granting knowledge, or you can actively try to pull its skill from within yourself and force yourself to grow, but it exhausts you and will consume a large amount of Divinity."
> will consume a large amount of Divinity
If we can do this in some way or another it would be great. But now that he lost control it might be harder.

DO NOT PUNCH HIM! Thoth is in control!
"Do not force this Thoth! You are supposed to be wise, taking control like this in a world you don't know is very stupid."
>>
>>19276187
Reason with him.

"Look, I know you want to do your works again and it's important, but you are going to get yourself killed while being this close to full. I won't fight you, but that Sean guy probably will, and he will kill you.

I'm not saying you shouldn't try to bring more knowledge into the world, I'm just saying you should be careful how you go about doing it."
>>
>>19276256
>>19276240
>>19276232
>>19276217

(We're hung 2-2. This is a big moment. Consider all your options wisely. Remember everything we've been told. You guys have 10 minutes to talk it out, I'm gonna grab some food.)
>>
>>19276187
Well, if he wasn't already up to Divinity 9, I'd say to have him try and manifest something to severely drain his energy. May still be a good option if we can avoid it then being used against us.
We definitely need to point out, to the shard, that it is forcibly taking control from his host instead of working together with him.
Might be a good idea to be able to pull from a light socket to make it harder to read (probably not enough), create a distraction, and gain a temporary boost to power. Though doing such is a desperate move and will presumably lead to him attacking us in defense to obvious threat.
Sadly, trickery probably is a good bet to diffuse the situation, though I can't suggest anything right now.
>>
If thooth is in control than punching him is the LAST thing we should do, it would only anger him and most likely not be enough to bring him back.

We need to reason with him. Appeal to his intelligence and advice him to be careful. He does not know enough about this world.
>>
>>19276271
>>19276293
>>19276304

Did any of you think that Thoth plain doesnt give a shit? We need to make him act NOT like Thoth, and that means things that arent knowledge related. Getting into a debate with him over whether or not he should go about spreading knowledge this way seems like a knowledge related thing to me.

Challenge him to an arm-wrestling match or something, just anything not related to the mind.
>>
>>19276366
We need to know how conscious the gods are when they have control. Ask if he could be reasoned out of control.
>>
>>19276394
I mean to say that we should ask Lugh.
>>
>>19276366
>>19276304
>>19276293
>>19276394

"I have to warn you, Martin, without being more energized we don't stand much of a chance against him. Only Morrigan ever had this much magical energy, and hers was only after a long ritual. His knowledge is ancient and powerful." Lugh warns you. "I don't know about each god, but I know that when I was in control back there I had full control over my mind and everything, I didn't rage, I just enjoyed myself. Perhaps you can talk to him. From what I have gathered through your memories and my own feelings, the demands for what an Indulgence is grows as the Shard grows larger. You need to do more extreme things to feed it. At this point conversation isn't a risk of pushing him over the edge, he'd have to do something huge, like summon a pyramid or something crazy."
>>
>>19276428
Ok, conversation and diplomacy time. Convince Thoth that it is in his best interests, and in the best interests of knowledge as a whole that he tones it down a notch. You can't learn when you're being hunted. Use our Understanding to help us along and hit the points that will convince him.
>>
>>19276496

"Hmmm....hunted you say? I could hide, run far away and tuck myself between the folds of this world and the next." he muses as he puts down the tome, "Alright, mortal, you have my ear. Tell me, who will hunt me, and how will my releasing Ian's will abet my studies further?" He questions with his eyes as he locks gazes with you the sensation of his vast willpower and knowledge washes over you. This is what it must be like to truly feel insignificant. Thoth has more knowledge than you would gain in a thousand lifetimes, it's almost eerie.
>>
>>19276540
Knowledge is not gained solely on ones own. The greatest achievements have been found through collaboration. You know a great deal, but there are things even you don't know and that others do. Maybe you could learn them given enough time, maybe not. What is the point of learning, of writing texts to pass down knowledge if no one else is around to share in it?

Those that would hunt you are experienced at hunting Godheads, I wouldn't be surprised if they knew about the folds between worlds and would search there. Is that a risk you are willing to take, losing all of the knowledge available to you because you underestimated those who would seek you out.
>>
>>19276540
Ian has knowledge of this world which you do not have. There have been HUGE leaps i knowledge over the years and the best way to do this knowledge is to experience it firsthand. You will do that most efficiently while observing from Ian's mind. If you do it that way you wont have to bother with disguising yourself.
>>
>>19276608
>>19276645

The threat of people experienced at hunting him and the promise of greater learning gives him enough pause to tap his Tome. "I acquiesce." He says and breathes out slowly, his bird head slowly returning to Ian's and his body slowly shifting down to Ian's again as the Tome curls up onto itself and vanishes. The room's walls glow blue and hieroglyphics race over every inch before vanishing. The room has a magical barrier that you can feel. Your muscles feel feeble and weak and your will to fight is drained. This is an extremely powerful ward as even Lugh's voice is unreachable to you. Ian stirs and rubs his temples, "Mart...Martin?" He asks and looks up at you and sees himself back to normal. "Oh thank you Martin, you saved my life!!" he says and quickly hugs you. "How can I repay you? I'm so so sorry for making you do this. It looks like Thoth spent all of his excess Divinity into warding this room, this is some magic, apparently. I need to talk to him more to find out exactly what it can do, but later. For now, let me pay you back however I can." he says, eager to show his gratitude.
>>
>>19276672
It's cool, just buy be a six-pack of good beer and we'll call it even. Actually, just buy a twelve-pack and we'll share.

Also if this sort of thing happens to me try to keep me from losing myself.

For now let's just get out of this room, this ward isn't pleasant to be in.
>>
>>19276672
Be more careful next time. If you feel yourself getting close to the edge, do a forced enhancement. That will drain divinity away quickly.
>>
>>19276672

"I insist. Here, let's go to The Yard, no one's there on a Monday night." He said and the two of you walk to The Yard which isn't too far away from his house. Inside is Randy, as always playing solitaire which he quickly sweeps up upon seeing you guys enter as he smiles, kindness on his weathered face. "What can I get you gentlemen? You look like you've both had a very busy day. How about some liquid comfort, on the house." he says and quickly pours an Irish Coffee and then a glass of a rum that you see is called 'Scarlet Ibis'. "Here you go guys, grab a booth or a seat, and take it easy. I'll cook you up some wings, ok?" He offers and walks away from the bar for a moment.

Ian sits down in a booth and takes a sip of the rum with a warm smile, "That's really comforting. I'm glad you stopped me, Martin, if I had gone Godhead and Sean found out...well...my parents wouldn't be very happy people. I don't know what he would tell them." He said as he tapped his foot nervously, "But that's not important! Let's talk about something else!" He says and rubs his neck as he scrambles for a topic and then shouts out, "I think Sarah's got a crush on you." he said and looks positively defeated as he seems to have taken you up in almost a hero-like status in his mind.
>>
>>19276727
Something to point out to him is definitely to pay it forward for us, even if Lugh is pretty decent about not wanting to run too wild. And it wouldn't hurt for him to show Thoth around to some of the modern wonders of the world in a practical sense, not just study/scrying.

You see that Randy isn't playing solitaire with playing cards, he's using Tarot cards. He also doesn't seem to have noticed that you're paying attention to him. While it seems strange that these cards keep cropping up your knowledge of them is reduced. Tarot was invented after Lugh's decline, but perhaps Thoth knows?

Ian glances at you and asks, "What's wrong?" he at least has the intelligence to whisper and be discreet. As he asks you sense something odd, a source of Divinity, that seems to be very very muted, but it exists. It's coming from from the top of the building, maybe the roof?

>>19276998

Stick around once The Yard closes, then sneak up on the roof. Randy confirmed for the Allfather or something.
>>
>>19277036

Randy's gotta have dumpsters, use those to jump up the side of the building onto the roof.
>>
>>19277036
Cant we just jump up with all the superhuman strength we have? Lugh was able to jump high.
>>
>>19277096

this please.
>>
>>19277047
>>19277063
>>19277096

We sadly aren't empowered enough to make that sort of crazy jumping yet. But a dumpster and climbing is good enough. At our current ranking we're power-lifter strong, but nothing super-human yet.

You bid farewell to Ian and once Randy closes up and goes to sleep upstairs in the loft where he lives you stealthily scale the building and arrive at the top of The Yard where a tall weather vane sits. Your Divinity Sense starts to scream out more and more as you get close and when you see it you realize it's not a weather vane at all. The shaft of the vane is a spear. It's a thick black-wood spear with strange lines and rigid designs cut into it. The blade is a thick metal blade and is stuck into the building itself. Now that you are close you sense that it's a genuine item, not just an Evocation. This must have been a Manifestation. This is a real item of legend.

"I don't recognize that one...it's not Celtic." Lugh assures you as you get closer to the writing, "The scripture is too rigid and linear. I can't read it. I don't even recognize it."
>>
>>19277164

Well Randy is an Inheritor definitely, and this might be his weapon, or it could be somethnig else.

Grab it.
>>
>>19277164
Use the Understanding trait. Try to carefully touch the weather vane.
>>
>>19277164
Freaky, we should probably leave it alone though, don't poke random magical spears. Though this does raise some serious questions about who Randy is.
>>
>>19277200
>>19277205
>>19277214

As you reach out to touch it you find that the spear itself refuses to let you grab it. You can't wrap your fingers around the haft and it seems too well embedded into the roof to remove it. You scour the spear and use all of your Divinity related knowledge and find nothing of real value out about it. You are about to leave when you hear something.

"Don't waste your time, kiddo, I can't move it either." Randy calls from the window beneath you. "Come on down, Martin, let's talk."
>>
>>19277229
Caaaaaaareful now
>>
>>19277229
Come on up, let's talk. It's rather nice up here and given that you're hiding an awful lot I'm pretty comfy up here.
>>
>>19277229

Okay, maybe not an inheritor, but he definitely knows something about all of this.

Let's rap.
>>
>>19277245
>>19277256
>>19277260

"Alright, alright, you Inheritors are so suspicious. It's a tough climb for an old man, hang on." he said and grabbed the ledge and managed after about a minute to work himself up and collapse next to you, "Whew, ok. So, I'm sure you have a lot of questions. First of all, I'd like to congratulate you, not even Sean knows about this. Now, what can I help you with?"
>>
>>19277273
Who are you?
>>
>>19277273

So, just who are you, "old man"?

And care to fill me in about this here spear?
>>
>>19277273
Well you said "you Inheritors" so I'm guessing you're not one of us.

Who or what are you? Why do you play solitaire with a tarot deck? And why is there a mythical spear that I can't recognize in your roof?

There really aren't that many, it isn't one of the Irish ones and unless it's Gungnir I have no idea what it is.
>>
>>19277281
>>19277287
>>19277359

"Randy." He answers simply but then laughs, "I'm sure you mean about Gungnir there." He said and put his hand on the handle of the spear and withdrew it, his hand smoking. "I used to be an Inheritor." The older man said as he sighed, "Ten years ago I had the Shard of Odin inside myself. I came to this town to flee the war in my old town. My rivals came here to hunt me. I killed all of them but in my Divinity-fueled berserkergang I called down Gungnir with not enough Divinity. I also made sure I made it stay by enchanting this building with runes of ignorance, repulsion, and calm. That's why no police turn up here even though I sell booze and smoke to kids, as well as the two deaths on my property. My magic still is in place, as is Gungnir, but I killed my Shard." he said sadly and sighed. "That's why when I saw Sean start changing I started guiding him from afar. He doesn't know who or what I am. You're the only one, Martin." he explained as he looked out across the forest. "I used to use Tarot Cards as part of my rituals when I could do magic, I still do it out of reflex. But Tarot has a deeper meaning in this Inheritors game that not even I understood. It would take the combined efforts of the greatest knowledges of yore and present to figure out what it means, but I know for a fact that every Inheritor has an Arcana bound to them and it has impacts when they compete or interact."
>>
>>19277398
You called in an Inheritors game, what exactly do you mean by that?
>>
>>19277398
Does he know why so many people suddenly realized they were an Inheritor?
>>
>>19277434
>>19277470
>>19277504

"Just me being jaded. I never found a reason for all of this in the two years I fought this battle with myself and with others. We vied for supremacy but to what end? To be the only one with the Shard? As for the sudden awakenings...I believe that's a combination of my fault and Sean's." He said and sighed, "The Shards are in people, not all people, but there appear to be a higher concentration in areas where other Inheritors are, or areas with a high concentration of Divinity. You aren't a native to this town, but everyone else is, I think. Anyway, there are Inheritors all over who lie dormant. But, when Chris used so much Divinity, and what's worse he channeled it through Gungnir, I'm sure that must have catalyzed everyone's awakenings." He said and looked at the Spear again. "Divinity is in all things, but it usually just remains ethereal. Sometimes the Divinity can take form, usually inside someone with a Shard and makes them an Inheritor. However, sometimes, almost always with Inheritor activity, the Divinity that is ambient may sometimes come together on its own and take form into creatures from eras past and from myth.
>>
>>19277398

Why did you kill your shard?
>>
>>19277518

"I promise you that was an accident. I pulled too much Divinity out at once, as well as using the Shard itself as a catalyst for the spell. It was a gamble and I paid the price for losing."
>>
>>19277515
Yeah, I noticed that. Rode the lightning for a spell with Lugh, there was a troll I think. Is there anything you can do with the raw divinity left behind?
>>
>>19277515

Like what we killed a while ago? (describe the monster)
>>
>>19277536
>>19277538

"If you have the talent, usually a handsome knowledge of magic, or if you can forge with Divinity like Smithing Gods can do, you can make all sorts of wondrous replicas of things. They'll be about 25% versions of the real thing, but that puts them far and away beyond any mundane weapons. I fought with a Gungnir forged from Ambient Divinity for a while. But most of the time I've seen Inheritors absorb it. They can use it for fuel and if the creature is from the same mythos as they are it usually amplifies their Destiny, for better or worse." He says and seeing your confusion goes on.

"Each Pantheon has a Destiny to them. Well, much like all of us have a strong trait that helps define us, and an Arcana, once you get enough Divinity you start to feel your Divine Destiny. Mine was Wyrd, all Norse Gods have it, it's the Fate that ties us to our end in Ragnarok. It means that we change in ways we cannot control when faced with our Fated Foes. If Divinity were to manifest into the shape of Fenrir, the wolf-son of Loki, I would be forced to fight it and no matter my strength, I would die killing it." He said sadly, "I saw a Shard of Thor give his life fighting Jormungandr."
>>
>>19277611

Hmm. I wonder what Lugh's destiny is.....

Well. Let's ask him about the situation with Ian, and ask him how we did.
>>
>>19277611
So, Ian. He almost went full Godhead, though I managed to talk him out of it. Any thoughts?
>>
>>19277668
>>19277658

"Very impressive. Both of you should be congratulated, you really earned that free drink." He said and smiled, "Ian showed remarkable willpower to stop someone like Thoth from taking over. And you showed extreme understanding and tact to talk down a God so old and wise." He said and sighed, "Alright, I'm done up here, it makes an old man sad just to be here so close to something he can never have." he said and climbed back into the room where he slept.

After bidding you good night and extracting a promise for secrecy from you he cuts you loose.

The moon is high in the clear sky and you feel quite tired from the day. Lugh, having kept quiet through the whole exchange, expresses his weariness as well, requesting you both get some sleep and use the pen before doing so to help him stay stable.
>>
>>19277721

Make it so XO.

Try not to skip school anymore either. We can't just drop our normal life because of all this stuff.
>>
>>19277721
Very well Lugh, do as he says, get a good night sleep and go to school in the morning. We'll pick up Failinis in the afternoon.
>>
>>19277751
>>19277769

You wake up the next day and this time force yourself to school. Hannah wishes you a good day before heading for the bus and when you get to school you take to your studies. Amazingly, despite all that's been going on, you feel more intelligent and able to absorb more information than ever before. You credit this to Lugh who graciously thanks you.

After school you leave with a quick goodbye to your friends and head to the shelter. You pay the man at the front eagerly and soon the dog is handed to you. Though it's initially shy one look into its eye and a smile as you call it Failinis and it jumps up at you and licks your cheek. Lugh's reaction couldn't be stronger as he unleashes what must be a joyous tirade of a man and his long lost friend reuniting in Old Celtic. As he talks and the dog gets acquainted with you the feeling of the Shard growing in power and energy inside of you fills you up as knowledge that isn't yours flows unbidden into your mind. It's tiring physically, but just being close to this dog seems to make you happier.

Once your home after a trip to the store to buy Failinis his stuff Lugh mentions, "You know if we store Divinity in Failinis he will become the real thing, or so I believe."
>>
>>19277795
Dayum! Maybe we could let him hold on to the pen. Would that work?
>>
>>19277795
Then any spare Divinity we have we shall gift to Failinis, given the way our life has been going a guard dog and companion would be good to have.

I'm glad you have reunited with your old companion.
>>
>>19277832
>>19277821

"I am as well." He said thankfully and you attach the pen to Failinis' collar and gently provide the push needed to have the Divinity flow towards the dog.

It's night time now and you have a bit of free time before sleep, what would you like to do? There's some training you could, some more study, or, as Lugh mentions, you COULD try your hand at magic, though it's extremely hard for a human to learn as it is Fae magic.
>>
>>19277893
(Also I'll brb in 30 or so.)
>>
>>19277893
Fae magic! We need to be diverse and have lots of skills, why not magic as well? It would also be nice to have some magic resistance.
>>
>>19277920

Try to use our harp to focus the magic.
>>
>>19277893
Try to practice some of that Fae magic. Use our harp as a channeling device to focus and control it.
>>
Can i post a list of skills and stuff Lugh was supposed to have so we know what to work towards or would that be too meta?
>>
>>19278016
He was known for a number of thing things. His skill with spear and sling, he was associated with the sun, and one of his names probably meant lightning-flash. He was best known for being a jack of all trades, skilled in many arts including poetry, magic, smithing, music, and fighting.

He also had a great number of magical items, a couple magical spears, one that always hit its mark and returned, one that needed to be immersed in water or it would ignite, one that was just a perfect spear, and one that would leap from target to target without a hand to wield it and needed to be kept in the sleeping draught of the poppy, opium, a horse, a boat that could go over land and sea, Fragarch which could cut through any shield, a piercing wound that none could recover from, command the wind and if placed against someone's throat they could not lie. A slingstone that destroyed the eye of Balor.

Also Failinis if bathed in fresh water would produce mead or wine, so if we keep on pumping divinity into him we'll get a free supply of alcohol.

We've got a lot of options.
>>
The list of professions Lugh was supposed to have is this:
a wright, a smith, a champion, a swordsman, a harpist, a hero, a poet and historian/Teller of Tales, a sorcerer, a craftsman, a carpenter, a physician, a cupbearer and a brass-worker.
It is a nice list.

In addition he considered these his finest arts: "Swimming forever without tiring, carrying a cauldron with both elbows, outrunning the swiftest of horses and leaping on a bubble without breaking it."

He is also devilish good at chess.
>>
>>19277966
>>19277947
>>19277920

WIth Lugh's instruction you find yourself trying to do magic. Using your harp to channel your wishes and desires he lectures. "Fae magic is the hardest magic for humans to learn because it's based completely on whimsy and desire. There is no logic, no reason, and absolutely no planning to it. It just requires freedom and desire. It's hard to use." he explains.

As you sing and try to focus on your wishes, a small one, to make a flower bloom from an old flowerpot where once rested a tulip. Focus though you might, nothing happens. However, Lugh comments on how well you did, saying that even conceptualizing it is hard enough for most humans.

Exhaustion takes you over and you sleep.

However tonight you dream of something very different. A dream so real it may be a vision. You detect Divinities throughout the city of various strengths and in the neighboring towns other Divinities, both latent and active, wild and controlled. But then you detect something truly odd. A single signature is coming towards the town, a Divine Human, one who doesn't bear both Divinity and Humanity at war, but seems to have them united as one.
>>
>>19278280
Interesting, I'm sure that he'll come up soon.

We'll want to keep working on the Fae magic deal, we want some level of magic, and I doubt many are experienced enough with it to counter it effectively.
>>
>>19278347

The next morning you get up and prepare for the day. It's 7 AM, you can still make it to school if you want, but magical practice does sound somewhat tempting. Lugh also encourages you skipping school to work with him. Fae Magic will be unbelievably hard to learn.
>>
>>19278406
Screw school, we're a wizard now.

Find the quietest forest grove we can, get out our harp and start learning.
>>
>>19278406
Even though i would like us to stay as human as possible i agree with this >>19278430

Magic is calling!
>>
>>19278468
>>19278430
>>19278406

WE WIZARD NOW
>>
>>19278550
Not just any Wizard, Fae Wizard. We're going to have glamours all up in this place.
>>
>>19278430
>>19278468
>>19278550

You gather up your harp and walk into the forest. You find a calm area and start to pluck at your harp and sing alongside it, letting the music and your average voice fill the air as you try to conjure some of that Fae Magic. You try to grow a flower, desperately. However, after what feels like 8 hours of this, to the point where your voice is sore, you've only managed to change the color of a single blade of grass from green to blue. Despite that, it's a rousing success.

"You really have no concept of how hard Fae Magic is for humans. I don't know of any human in my time who ever could do more than maybe cure a cold with their glamour." He praised you as you take a cool drink of water from a nearby river. As you do so you feel the sensation of someone watching you. "There's a human female looking at us from about fifty meters away to our left hand side. She's hiding behind the oak tree there and looks to be roughly pre-adolescent." Lugh quickly informs you as you keep drinking from the water to keep her calm. You can sense the Divinity in her, it's a fairly potent amount.
>>
>>19278600
Sit back down, play a bit more on the harp and invite the stranger to join us. If we brought lunch bring it out and offer her some.
>>
>>19278600
It is probably Sarah.

do this >>19278613
>>
>>19278625
>>19278613

As you look up to try and invite her you see a snap of golden hair and the sound of extremely light feet running away from you before they're swallowed by the forest. She appears to have fled as soon as she noticed that you saw her.

"There's no way that's Sarah," Lugh says having glanced over your thoughts, "She's not a War Goddess or from a Pantheon that encourages physical power, she's just as weak as she ever is, I bet."

You eat your lunch slowly and then resume practice. This time you manage to turn a small patch about the size of your thumb blue. Not knowing how this is happening, but glad to see improvement, you pack it up for the day as the sun begins to set. It's 5 PM, and you are feeling pretty good. This Fae Magic doesn't seem to really tire you out at all. What should we do now?
>>
>>19278677
Well, there's an awful lot of forest/huntress deities, no use worrying over who she was or what shard she had with this little information.

Head in the direction the girl fled, maybe we'll find a clue or something interesting.
>>
>>19278715
Might as well investigate.
>>
>>19278715
>>19278731

You follow after her, but after only one minute of tracking Lugh announces that the trail has gone cold, and that he can't detect anything more. She's very light footed.

However, to your eternal delight, you do detect another mass of unbound Divinity, probably another monster of myth or something. You could investigate it, though it seems to be keeping to itself near the river.
>>
>>19278747
Veeeeeery carefully investigate this divinity.
>>
>>19278747
Investigate, but keep our distance and be prepared to bug out at a moment's notice.

She's probably Artemis, but I'd rather not jump to that conclusion yet.
>>
>>19278762
>>19278780

As you get close to it, realizing you're rather unarmed, you see a fifteen foot tall man sitting by the river. He has a belt of leather around his waist and several cloth bags around the belt. On his back he has a huge axe. However, despite his size and armament he seems rather harmless as he's currently staring at himself in the water and splashing at it with the back of his hand and chuckling stupidly as his reflection warps and dances. Lugh, however, hisses in your head, "Fir'bolg....I thought we had killed the last of them."
>>
>>19278800
Get out of there now. If we get in a fight throw rocks at him.
>>
>>19278800
Let's as Lugh what he'd do in this situation, considering we are pretty unarmed at the moment.
>>
>>19278800
As much as I would like to kill him with you, we are lacking in armament. If we had a sling and some rocks or a good spear to throw I might try, but given that we're unarmed and he's 15 feet tall I'm erring on the side of caution.
>>
>>19278839
>>19278845
>>19278855

"Sadly even with our spear I doubt that you could kill one of these. A single Fir'Bolg could kill fifty hardened warriors. I myself could only handle them ten at a time." He said and sighed, "No, retreat is our wisest option."

With his consent then you slowly creep away and start to head home. As you head that direction you get a text message. It's from William. "Up for some harp practice?". Another comes in from Sean. "Hello Martin, do you want to do some spear drills?" You go to answer one of them and yet another message buzzes your phone, this one from an unknown number.

"Inheritor, I will see to your timely and impending demise."
>>
>>19278866
Respond to the unknown one, fuck you.

We just spent most of today playing on the harp and we should get our spear skills up to par we should take Sean up on his offer.
>>
>>19278894
This. also, mention to Sean about THE FUCKING FIR'BOLG DOWN BY THE CREEK
>>
>>19278894
>>19278916

"Spear training sounds like it's just become a live fire drill. Stay where you are, I'll be there in a little while with some support." He said and in about fifteen minutes he shows up with Richard and Travis in tow. Travis waves to you and the three of them walk up. "So," Sean asks as he puts his hands in his pockets, "Tell me, how'd you find this little accident?" He asks and you take a look at Travis who can't help but show his blue-white beard and his clearly enhanced height and physique. You can see scales on his neck and you guess that he's probably scaled all over his body as well. However he looks quite the warrior and is holding a trident.

Richard is holding a long wooden club with what looks to be black rocks up the length of it. His skin is tanner and he looks leaner but taller as he strolls alongside Sean. These two almost look like his enforcers like this, but you subdue the thought.

After explaining the situation he mentions, "I haven't seen one of these Myth Beasts since I was 15. I thought I had eliminated all of them. I guess with all the new Inherited it was bound that they'd crop up again." Sean said as he walked with you guys to the Fir'Bolg who was still sitting on the river bank. "Damn that's big. I've never actually fought a Fir'Bolg before." Sean says as he hands you a spear and makes himself one. "So, do you want to lead us, oh Lugh?"
>>
>>19278970
Play it smart. Disable it before the killing stroke. Cut it's Achilles tendons, and strike it's armpits. If it looks like you're gonna get hit, back off.
>>
>>19278970
Lugh, give me details on how best to take out the Fir'Bolg. Given that Travis is Poseidon he should attack from the water, maybe we can get the Fir'Bolg in the water and drown him there. Ask Richard which Aztec deity he follows.

Our priority is to take our time, cut important tendons, especially the Achilles. Armpits and other major veins are good.
