"Report" the hologram demands

"He was stronger than anticipated, I planned to bring him back with me but it didn't fan out." you smoothes your hand over your shaven head.

"Your orders were explicitly to observe only, you very well may cost us the recruitment oppurtunity now. We can afford no further mistakes." The hologram flares as the operator berates you. "The Illusive Man will be alerted of your disregard for operating proceedure."

"I'm sure he will, by the way, would you let him know I tracked down Achilles and Hector. They've been hiding in plain sight. Flying under the radar though, I doubt anyone knows their full potential." You smirk as you deliver the news.

"They've been located?" The operator seems surprised.

"Oh? Did I leave that out of the report? My mistake... They're on Terra Nova with the Alliance. Going by Haskill and Briggs now... I'm surprised you didn't find them sooner, it's been almost 8 years now."

"Is that why you broke cover?" the hologram inquires.

"Heh, got you curious now. Yes, yes it is, I sent them a message, I don't know if it will make it but I sure hope so. It's always more fun when everyone knows they're playing." You begin disassembling your Volkov Model 2180 sniper rifle for travel.

"This is not a game." the operator dryly replies.
>>
"Heh, maybe not to you, as for me I can't wait to have a little reunion for old times sake." you eject the thermal clip from the rifle along with the stun rounds you'd loaded earlier. Damn shame about the Sergeant, he just wasn't willing to part with the armor, oh well, bodies don't last long in the rainforest, decomposition should begin in hours.

"Operative Ajax, you are under no circumstances to engage Former Operatives Achilles or Hector. They are extremely dangerous and a grave threat to our mission security. They will actively oppose any attempts at recruitment with violence." the operator fires back

"I'm well aware, Hector kicked me through a wall last time. He's gonna have to pay for that..." You smile as you wipe the blood off your machete, at least he'll have something to remember you by.

"This incident will be reported to the Illusive Man, you are readily showing signs of instability and..." you cut the hologram just as he begins his tirade. You grow sick of his constant moaning. He doesn't know what the battlefield is like, he's no solider, just another noise in the background of war. You make a mental note to track him down and show him what a battlefield is really like when this mission is over as you look fondly at the video you took of the biotic solider taking down the HK squad. "Geronimo...what an excellent soldier you'll make us..."
>>

OF COURSE we'll join Cerberus, because Cerberus is awesome.
>>
>>19231919

Had a little scene I thought you guys might enjoy on an off night.

Anyhoo, back to the matter at hand.

General Singh stands in full dress briefing the group of soldiers who made it through the program, you'd say a solid company passed the test. "I stand here with the greatest men and women the Alliance has to offer. Each of you a credit to your uniform and an inspiration to your fellow soldiers. It is with the greatest honor I bestow upon you the rank of N1 Special Forces. May your comrades be humbled by your bravery and skill and your enemies tremble when you step onto the battlefield. OOORAH!"

"OOOOOOORRRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" the crowd of marines yells back. Even the washouts stand at the sides of the graduating class, applauding and cheering. You catch a glimpse of Jones, his arm in a sling from falling out of the tree when he got pegged. He gives you a thumbs up with his good arm and a big smile. It's good to know that there are no hard feelings here.
>>
>>19232032
Do we keep our pelt?

I want it to be the emblem of Jaguar Squad.
>>
>>19232050

If they made a MJOLNIR project, we'd totally go for it.

Or a SPARTAN project.

But lets avoid any reaper technology put into us. If we can increase our charge ability to become like a literal mass relay, I'd be all for it. Or charge objects at enemies. CHARGED TOMAHAWK!
>>
>>19232032

You have a couple hours to pack up before heading back to your duty station, luckily you thought ahead and stowed most of your gear before the ceremony so you have some free time.

You see Jones waving you over and you also see one of the soldiers from the HK squad that was after you.

"Ah! Watch the arm! It's still a little sore" he laughs, "I'm glad you made it, you're a hell of a soldier man, honestly being in the hospital was a relief compared to being out there. That was some crazy shit. Heard you got a trophy?"

"Jaguar Pelt. When I get my new squad, going to name it Jaguar Squad and use it as an emblem. Killed it with my tomahawk. My ancestors would be proud." The last part is mostly a joke.
>>
>>19232186
I did get a trophy. I fought a Jaguar in the jungle and I took its pelt. I'm planning on adding it to my dress uniform or at least using it to decorate my quarters or something like that.
>>
>>19232209

No, Wendigo squad will stay Wendigo squad. We can put the pelt into the squads coat of arms, or heraldry or whatever.

Looking at list, geez I hate to Retcon shit but I"m throwing weapons in with Assault Mastery. Melee, weapons and other handy class boosters will be under that. Those two are too close and it's meaningless to have them as similar stats.

Tomahawk can be boosted by melee boosts but it has it's own skill tree as well
>>
>>19232238

With the promotion to Sergeant you've been granted a squad which as of yet has no members and no name. You guys are rolling with some fantastic ideas.

"Really? You killed a leopard with that thing? Geez, you're crazy man. Shit if that's what it takes to be an N program soldier I'm just not cut out.", he laughs again, "It was a pleasure working with you though, and hey, who knows maybe I'll get invited back and do better next time. If you ever happen to be on Benning give me a shout and I'll take you out for a drink. If you'll excuse me though I see someone else I'd like to say goodbye to." he shakes your hand again and waves to another soldier you haven't met.

"You mean the guy who fought me tomahawk to knife with? And then threw me around abit?"
>>

"Threw you around? What like with biotics? The sarge was pure soldier, he wasn't a biotic. But you say the guy that ambushed you was? Shit, this is crazy, I don't understand man, where is Nick and who the hell was that following us around?" he seems pretty upset
>>
>>19232466
"Think it was an outside force? The guy I fought was pretty damn tough. Most likely military trained. Think we could go over a database, I could give his description to a VI and we could narrow it down if he was in any military group. May pin-point us to whoever this guy is or who he might work for."

...

"I ate my wheaties this morning."
>>
>>19232482

Brass already did, no results, guy is a ghost.
Your omni-tool even got footage of him. No one recognizes him and no VI search has yielded any results. Retinal and facial recognition both failed.
That face is burned into your mind.

"It's no good, brass already tried, nothing." you mutter

"Shit, I know something horrible happened, but there isn't much we can do till we know more. Trust me, General Singh will not take this lying down. We'll find him."

>Craft your messages and to whom. You have the relevant contact information for everyone you've met so far. I assumed you'd been collecting it.

>>19232616
No, no I completely agree, basically unknown to Geronimo this guy is a Cerberus operative. At this point in time almost no one is privy to the fact they even exist. They have people in the system, ways of making data disappear, it wouldn't matter if you got fingerprints and DNA there's no amount of research that could be done. You only have one lead that you know of.

"Thank you sir. Though I'm a tad curious on how you knew I'd graduate, three weeks early. Either you were really confident in my abilities or your psychic. If your psychic, that's cool and any way I can be too. Find myself being ambushed a lot."
>>

"Hahaha, no no, programing trick. I just had Cpl Chambers add a criteria for the statement in the email. If you'd failed I'd had an apology prepared. Luckily it seems it was unnecessary. Now then, Jaguar Squad? I like it. The transfers all seem pretty reasonable, Briggs and Haskill ok'd them all though I think Briggs was a little surprised you'd pulled Harris and Santos but thought it would be an interesting change of pace for them.
I'm still working on your 2 other transfers, I'll have to get back to you on those. In the meantime enjoy a little downtime. I still expect you to run drills but you can relax a little, I'll give you something to shoot at soon enough. Any questions about your new roll Sergeant?"
>>

Just curious, but as N1 are we still part of our old unit or are we just considered an augmentation now?
>>
>>19233986

Still considered part of a normal unit however as you rise in the ranks you may be called upon for special operations. Basically, you're an asset to tap for high level operations.

"The man who 'tested' me. Any word on him? I've ran several theories in my head. Either he was a mass hallucination created through stress at the time, a test created for the N program as some sort of over-arching mystery I need to solve, or he' some part of an outside group. He seemed too professional to be apart of a mercenary group, or he could have been the military arm of some political party, like Terra Firma. Personally I'd prefer the mass hallucination, makes me seem edgy and stuff. Chicks dig that."

"I'd heard, and no, there hasn't been any word as of yet and I'd prefer you keep it on a need to know basis. If word got out the Villa had been compromised it could affect morale. We don't know who we're dealing with but Singh isn't gonna take that lying down. We will find him and justice will be melded out. My guess is he was a high level N operative having a little run at our expense.
They often assist in the training of new operatives and this would be right up their alley." He states leaning back in his chair.
>>
>>19234020
"Will do sir, although when I get higher ranked, does that mean I get to mess with newbies who just killed and skinned jaguars? Speaking of which, I really want that design on my armor. Am I rambling? Figured with the smokes we were being casual. Hows the family? Or is that too casual?"

Also whats the time frame like? Are we still in ME 1?
>>
>>19234053

Hahaha, I think that's a bit too informal...
and yes this is the ME1 timeline. Though I'm making a few changes. Namely the ETA on Arrival is getting pushed back. I don't want the whole goddamn galaxy to end quite yet

Like this human. Speaks quickly and efficiently. Reminds me of myself. L2 implants could be the cause. Feeding adrenaline into the brain. Severe repercussions. Could have heart attack if not properly treated. Recommend upgrading to L3. Or volunteer for L4 implants experiments. Large risk, large reward. Nothing new to Vanguard, of course.

this takes place during ME-1, so we got lots of time before we have to biotic charge/flying kick reapers out of existence

Ok, so keep talking to Sardis or move on?

"I have nothing else to ask sir. Was that all?"

Tuck the cigar in our pocket. We don't smoke, but it would be impolite to refuse.
>>
>>19234091
They didn't start showing up until, what, 3 years after the first game ended, and even that was some months after first contact.

>>19234105
Let's move on. Even if he knows anything else, he won't be telling us. Not yet anyway.

"That will be all son, guess you'll enjoy that one later eh? Tell Briggs and Haskill hello for me." He turns his chair as you exit.

>Action?

Yeah something like that. Shepard died for two years then however long it took after arrival, probably another year all together. I'm going for closer to a decade more than likely.

Salute and dismiss ourselves.

Find Briggs or Haskill.
>>
>>19234184

You head back to your Barracks and walk into confetti being blown in your face and Briggs and Karri standing there with huge shit eating grins.

"SURPRISE!" the squads yell Karri wraps you in a big hug and Briggs steps over and hands you a bottle of Benning's Best.

"Congratulations on the graduation kid!" Briggs says smacking you on the back.
"Whoa, what the hell is that?" Reggie asks at the pelt rolled under your arm.

>What do you say?
>>
>>19234237

Tell him what it is.

Claim we killed it with our TEETH.

"So there I was. Buck naked, thirty-no-fifty jaguars surrounded me. I was drenched in the blood of the fallen and as they charge, I shouted to the Aztec Gods, that I was not some cat-nip covered mouse toy. No I was a man! A man with an axe. I defeated them in droves. And then from their corpses I crafted myself a plane. A jaguar plane. Which I sailed across the heavens and punched every deity in my path.

Oh. No. Wait, that was the dream I had when I finally got some sleep. This is the jaguar pelt. I did kill it, with my tomahawk though."
>>
>>19234253

"This is a Jaguar pelt, it tried to eat me, so I tore it's throat out with my teeth and ate it instead. I thought it would make an excellent coat and I was right. Check it out." you unroll the pelt and drape it over you, a couple of jaws drop and Briggs looks reasonably impressed.

"You're full of shit, there's no way you could have killed that with your teeth..." Reggie mutters, not used to being one-upped at parties.

Retcon'd

"Wow, I think I'll go ahead and take that beer back, you've had a little much already." Briggs says downing the rest of your beer for you.
"Anyway, to Geronimo and his badassness!" Briggs yells, everyone toasts you and crowds in to feel your pelt. You elect to hand it off to Briggs for now who assures you it'll be fine in his hands. Karri starts whispering how much she missed you and winks at you and heads towards her bunk.

I think this is a good place to stop for the night. I'm too tired to think. We'll continue on Sunday as usual guys.
