>>As it seems that the suptg archive is a little bit broken for now, you can probably find the NFC threads on Foolz.

The year is 2025.
Your name is Dave, and you didn't ask for this.
Once a generic white-collar worker who lived alone save for your cat, you were hit by a car and spent three months in a coma. You awoke to find that your unconscious body had been taken in by the corporation 'Emulsified Electronics', and implanted with an experimental augmentation. You soon found that it allowed you to control electronic devices with your mind. You quickly became embroiled in corporate warfare, fighting the PMC ArmaTek and their employers, Cadmium Dynamics, and there have been incidents with a corp named Kawasagi Infinite. You were recently kidnapped by a group calling itself Resurgence, who claims they're Saving The World. In retaliation, you went all the way to Antarctica, where you took over one of Resurgence's facilities.
>You have 2450 credits.
>You have 1 fate reroll.
>>
>Abel Rowling: Your coworker\drinking-buddy. Used to be your roommate years ago before you got him a job at the place you worked. He was apparently trained to be an Agent, and now works for EE with you.
>Jun Viridian: The 38 year old neuroscientist who implanted you with the prototype, and from what you can tell, was the one who designed it. With your help, she has her son, James.
>John Grayson: A security specialist and agent who works for EE. He has implanted forearms and broad shoulders. He used to be military, and you're currently sharing an apartment with him.
>Amy Tolstoy: A teenage mercenary girl with neon hair, augmented legs, and a wrist computer full to the brim with random AI constructs. She has all sorts of strange friends. Now works for EE as a researcher, technician, and agent. You're currently dating her.
>Azure, Onyx, Cyan, Magenta: Your bullfrog's onboard AI; Cyan specializes in networking, Onyx operates your teleportation device, Magenta specializses in combat, and Azure is self-programming and sapient, unlike the other AI.
>Mark: The mechanic who works for EE in B-4, building and maintaining the gear of all Agents. He's a capable pilot and has saved your skin multiple times. Shares your love of mechandrites.
>Gemini: Lucas and Lucca, two sibling agents from KI. Lucas is some kind of 'goddamn ninja', while Lucca is a high-strung agent with a Gen-3 implant.
>Sigma and Epsilon: Two KI agents who fought against you; Sigma is a relatively calm, thoughtful man, except when you piss him off. His augment is such that he's essentially welded into a power suit. Epsilon is another Gen-3 Implantee, and she hates you.
>Omega: A Kawasagi Infinite Gen-3 implantee who isn't strictly an agent- instead he's more like a pilot, as he flies a high-tech, incredibly fast dropship.

It's cold.
You, and Amy are both waiting outside for a vehicle that should arrive any minute to take you to her parents' place.
"I still don't see why you're so into this." She said. "I mean, you never talk about your own parents, do you?"
>>
>>19114174
"Honestly, I just want to see what kind of place were you brought up that you turned into this awesome gal I know.
Also, the ridiculously hilarious value it has to suddenly show up with a Death Machine like me at their front door."

I hope we're in our full combat gear.
>>
>>19114174
>I mean, you never talk about your own parents, do you?

We might talk if we knew what the fuck was up with them. Seriously, we still haven't fleshed them out, have we? We really should to contact them just so that we know Dave's backstory.

>>19114174
"Come on. Don't you want to meet your parents?
You ought to miss this place at least a little?"
>>
because we never fucking want to call them, i mean jeez you'd think they'd at least get a call telling 'em we're not dead.
>>
"Honestly, I just want to see what kind of place were you brought up that you turned into this awesome gal I know." You say. "Also, the ridiculously hilarious value it has to suddenly show up with a Death Machine like me at their front door."
She grinned wickedly. "Mom's going to have some kind of secret apoplexy, but she'll be trying not to show it because she has to be all polite and perfect. Now I'm suddenly looking forward to it. I'll give you extra points if you can somehow break her 'gracious host' mask."
>>
>>19114237
"Oh, I was going to be perfectly polite guest..... as a tentacled death monsters go."

We should wear the helmet for a while, keeping the creepy faceless motif
>>
>>19114237
"Tell me about your parents a little."
>>
>>19114237
I think I know how to break it, I'll be a perfect guest, pull out chairs for ladies be a utter gentleman. While being a tentacled death monster and I'll have by mask display a laughing skull, but only when they see it in the corner of their eye, the rest of the time it'll be a blank face.
>>
>>19114291
>but only when they see it in the corner of their eye, the rest of the time it'll be a blank face.

Oh, God. We should do this by default all the time.

excellent idea!
>>
"Oh, I was going to be a perfectly polite guest. . at least as much as tentacled death monsters are." You say, chuckling. Amy frowned.
"Well, that's no fun."
"Well. . . I think I'll know how to break it." You say. "I'll be a perfect guest. Pull chairs out for ladies, speak politely, and be an utter gentleman. While being a tentacled death monster with a grinning skull for a face." You add, throwing the skull up. "But only when nobody else is looking."
"I look forward to seeing it. Oh, there it is!" She said, pointing. It looked somewhat like a car, but was. . bastardized with half of a snowmobile, making for a strange fusion of the two. It slowly approached, then screeched to the side, and the side opened. Amy hopped in, and you followed. Inside, there was no driver, or even driver seat, but Amy didn't seem to care about that as the vehicle twisted about and started driving away.

do we find a penguin to play with our cat?!
>>
The ride was uneventful, as Amy just sat at the window, pointing out the rare place you saw as you travelled.
"That's the VR dome." She said. "Massive computer banks mostly devoted to gaming. It's not as fun as it sounds. And over there is. . penguins. A lot of penguins. A lot more than I remember, actually."
"Any chance of taking one home to play with my cat?" You ask.
She chuckles and shakes her head. "It's not good for them to be in warm places. Plus, you can't exactly buy penguin food at the market."
>>
>>19114307
"But wouldn't being a perfect guest make such disconnect that it would make them uncomfortable, at least subconsciously?"

"Hmm, how much of our work do you want to disclose by the way? Can we nonchalantly talk about blowing up entire city districts and killing hundreds of souped up super-soldiers to your parents or better to keep it vague?"
>>
Don't forget to play up the creepy "cameras in the back of your head" bit. Crank up the pretentiousness level to 11. Mention you just acquired a small holding in Antarctica, so you'll be "summering" in the area. If given an opportunity to serve / freshen drinks, do so with your mechadendrites only, using your hands to gesture as you talk. Don't forget to bring up EE's breakthroughs will reshape the field of commerce, and how important Amy is to the whole operation.

Basically be as polite and high society as possible while simultaneously being as foreign and alien.

Well I'm probably going to move in, at least some of the time to the Davecave, Ishelda ought to like it there, have you met Ishelda yet?

So how much about our work and my augments do you want to reveal to your parents?
>>
>>19114374

If we ever going to move into Davecave, we WILL have to acquire a transport which has the same speed as Omega.
We can't waste 6 or more hours commuting to our work.
>>
"Hmm. . How much of our work do you want to disclose anyway?" you ask. "Can we nonchalantly talk about blowing up entire city districts and killing hundreds of souped-up super-soldiers to your parents, or better to keep it vague?"
"Oh, it's fine to talk about that." She said. "I mean, dad won't care, and mom already knows. Dad might actually find it interesting. You see, he writes cyberpunk novels."
>>
>>19114385
>Cyberpunk author
>in a Cyberpunk future

"Hm. Do those still sell? What do you write about when cyberpunk becomes everyday life?"
>>
>>19114385
"Wait. Cyberpunk. Tolstoy. Oh my God. He... He didn't happen to write The Duality Paradox, did he?"
>>
>>19114385
Writing cyberpunk novels in cyberpunk setting is like writing Non-fiction, isn't it?
>>
>>19114385
Huh, cool. After I finish freaking the living hell out of them we can talk shop. Hell given what I am I could inspire the hell out of him.
>>
OP is a faggot nigger
>>
>>19114414
We shouldn't talk about our augment, imo.

>The absolute best experimental craft that a rival corp owns

I doubt you can just pop down to the local dealership and buy one. And we're not exactly rich.

>>19114414

We should keep the tech side a little vague. Handing trade secrets to a published author wuold go over with the board like a lead balloon.
>>
>>19114440
>I doubt you can just pop down to the local dealership and buy one. And we're not exactly rich.

I just meant a transport that has the same speed. Unless Omega is the only one in existence... which would suck.
>>
"Hm. Do those still sell? Even after cyberpunk became everyday life?"
"Hahaha, no, no they don't." She said, chuckling. "But he continues to write anyway. He's like that; he doesn't even bother publishing them anymore. He just posts them online on his blog. Oh, here we are." She said, pointing out of the front of the vehicle. Standing in front of you was a very large, modern structure made mostly out of glass.
"Come on." She said, leading you to the front door. "Should we knock, or just go in?" She asked.
>>
>>19114452
So, we hire Omega as our personal driver, and get him a snazzy suit, and put him in black face, and make him call us boss, and we can call him...Bertrand.
>>
>>19114464
Pretty sure he doesn't own Omega (the aircraft). Bet that shit costs hundreds of millions.

>>19114463
"Dunno, what do you think is best?
Do they not lock doors in Antarctica? .... probably not."

"Lets knock."
>>
>>19114463
Knock, we're being the extremely polite gentleman. With a skull face that you can see out of the corner of your eye, who uses mechadendrites for most tasks and gestures with his hands. Familiar, incredibly polite but so very Alien and not quite right. A polite man knocks.
>>
>>19114452

Omega WAS the only one in existence. And now it's smoking slag in our yard.

They may have other test-bed frames, but they're probably not kitted out like Omega.

>>19114463

"They're YOUR parents. What do you think?"
>>
>>19114484
> who uses mechadendrites for most tasks

Mechadrites AND drones.

Oh, I just remembered. We need to give Megenta order to identify subjects when she tells them about us. "Somebody" behind us makes us twitchy.
>>
Something occurs to you suddenly.
<Hey, Magenta.> You say. <Try to identify people, instead of just saying 'somebody'.>
<I. . will do so.> She responds, reluctantly.

You shrug, put the skull on your face, and knock.
With your mechandrite, of course.
A few minutes later, a woman that appears to be around thirty years old opens the door. She has the same proportions as Natalie. . in a good way.
"Oh, And the daughter returns." She says with a kindly smile. She turns to you. "Oh, and she brought a guest! How nice."
"Hey, mom." Amy responds. "This is Dave, my murder-machine of a boyfriend."
"Oh. . " She turns to you, and gives you an icy smile. "It's nice to finally meet you, David. Amy's said so much about you!"
You detect a very slight amount of tension as the woman gives Amy a single glance. Not enough to call a glare, but. .
"My name is Victoria Tolstoy." She said.
>>
>>19114547
Extend a 'Drite to shake her hand.

"A pleasure to meet you, Misses Tolstoy."
>>
>>19114547
"Pleasure to meet you, Madam. I'm Dave Davidson."
Extend a drite for a handshake.
If she seems apprehensive, go all "Oh, sorry, these things have grown so much onto me that they practically feel a part of me" and then give her your hand.

We have the blank, creepy faceless look, right?
>>
>>19114547
It is an absolute pleasure to meet you Mrs. Tolstoy. I can see where your daughter got her looks. Take her hand in a mechadendrite and kiss it with our faceless mask.
>>
>>19114547

>>
>>19114588
Amy did say she'd give us extra points if we broke her perfect gracious host demeanor. If we break that we'll laugh, take off the helmet and return to normal.
>>
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Missus Tolstoy." You say, extending a 'drite to shake her hand. "I'm Dave Davidson."
"Oh, you two must be so cold out there." She says, with a glance to your power suit. "Do come in, take your shoes off, anything that makes you feel comfortable."
Amy struggles to keep her wicked snickers to herself as the two of you walk in and close the door behind you.
"Keep that mask on." She whispers to you as Mrs. T. turns around to lead you two to a different room. "She's trying to get you to remove it."
"She seems kinda... stepford wife-y."
"EXACTLY." Amy hisses back. "She's always like this with guests."
"And over here," She said, apparently leading you on a tour of their home. "Is the observatory. . Where Alexander is writing."
Alexander Tolstoy looked a lot older than his wife, with a goatee, short-cut hair, and he was currently lounging back in a curved chair, typing at a keyboard.
"Oh, hey, Amy." He said, with hardly a glance to you two. "This that Dave guy?"
"Yep." She responded.
"I guessed, what with the four limbs of tentacular death." He said. "Have fun you two. Just don't break any of the windows; it'll get cold as hell in here."
>>
>>19114632
"Nice place."
>>
>>19114632
It is a pleasure to meet you Mr. Tolstoy, I am a fan of your work.

Mrs. Tolstoy you have a absolutely gorgerous home here, I recently acquired lodgings nearby and was wondering if you had any advice to turn it from a mere house into a home, a sanctuary within the antarctic cold?

Make sure whenever Mrs. Tolstoy turns to look at us she catches the briefest glimpse of a grinning skull.
>>
>>19114632
"THE Alexander Tolstoy? An absolute pleasure to get the chance to meet you, sir. I love your work. But please, don't let me interrupt. And while I may be best suited for leveling small city blocks, I'm capable of more delicate interaction. No need to worry I'll demolish the place."

Feel free to throw in direct references to his work to up the schmoozing ante.
>>
>>19114632
"Of course, Mr. Tolstoy, I wouldn't dream of it. I've had enough of busting holes in Antarctican domiciles for one day after riding a tidal wave of plasma into a paramilitary neoluddite communist doom fortress. Plus, we wouldn't want to let in the penguin swarms. Are there always so many this time of year? It's rather ridiculous."

"So, I understand you're a writer? I think I've actually read some of your work, when it was a bit more popular and a bit less directly, realistically relevant to the world at present. I enjoyed the stories I've read of yours, actually."
>>
>>19114669
>I am a fan of your work.
lets not say that since we haven't actually read any of his books

>THE Alexander Tolstoy?
Come one, that's just stupid. We aren't that retarded to confuse him with the famous russian writer who died a century ago
>>
>>19114687
AREN'T WE?!
>>
>>19114687
>long-dead Tolstoy

Duh, not what I was intending. Hell, throw in, "... the cyberpunk novelist?" if you feel it's too vague.
>>
>>19114687
Dave's past is murky, who's to say we haven't had prior experience with cyberpunk books, including Alexander's? Dave IS an elegan/tg/entleman after all, he's the type who would read this sort of work.
>>
"Nice place." You say.
"Ayup. It's all glass and fancy. Tori likes the look." He said, seemingly unbothered by your apparent lack of a face. "Cool helmet, by the way. How do you see through it? One-sided metamaterials, or. . "
"Oh, cameras." Amy adds. "Wired to an internal visor."
"That's my girl." He said.
"No need to worry about me breaking anything, Mr. Tolstoy. I may be able to level city blocks, but I've had enough of busting holes in Antarctican domiciles for one day after riding a tidal wave of plasma into a paramilitary neoluddite communist doom fortress."

Behind you, via your extra vision, you suddenly notice Victoria's smile falter for a moment.
"Dave, I don't think they were any of that. But it *was* a doom fortress." Amy adds.
>>
>>19114703
Oh... it just hasn't come up before that we read cyberpunk novels.... or any books for that matter.
>>
>>19114713
"How could they not be paramilitary neoluddite communist? Have you heard half of the propaganda they spew?"
>>
>>19114713
"And don't forget the submersible flying cruiser-sized gunship. I really, really hope that we crippled that expensive hunk of junk enough we won't be seeing it anytime soon, except maybe as a conveniently salvageable wreck. But what are the chances of that?"
>>
>>19114713
Come on dear, they were obviously paramilitary and if you listened to half their rhetoric they were certainly neoluddite to a degree. The Communist bit was for effect I admit.

Mrs. Tolstoy, given that I have acquired, somewhat violently, some real estate here I was wondering if I could rely on your expertise at Antarctic home decoration.
>>
"How could they not be paramilitary neoluddite communist?" You ask. "Have you heard half of the propaganda they spew?"
"Well, they're not paramilitary because they're too small and aren't technically a military." Amy responds. "They're not neoluddite because they use modern tech with wild abandon. But they might be communists; You're right about that."
Alexander simply shrugs at the exchange, and turns back to the monitor. Victoria, however, redoubles her everpresent, icy smile, as if she were clinging to a floating bit of debris in the middle of the ocean.
"Speaking of which." you say, turning to her and giving her a fourth-second blast of grinning skull. "I recently acquired some real estate in the area, and I was wondering if I could rely on your expertise at Antarctic home decoration."
"Oh, I'd be glad to." She said. "It's always so nice to welcome new members of the community."
>>
>>19114713
"Well, whatever they were It's *our* doom fortress now." Hug amy with a drite when saying that
"We really need to visit our new neighbors"
>>
I bet we could scare the crap out of people in the VR dome. "Oh my god it's so realistic..."
>>
>>19114779
Animate a CCOOOOBBBRRRAAAAA snaking its way out an eyesocket, through the mouth and out the other socket, slithering across the grim skullike visage superimposed over our silvery screen. With only Victoria seeing, of course.
>>
>>19114779
That's just wonderful Mrs. Tolstoy, we'll be neighbors, we could even have potluck dinners.

Give Amy a hug with a drite, living so close to such wonderful parents, it truly is a blessing isn't it dear.

Could I prevail on you to give me a tour of my home, I'm sure I haven't seen a fraction of what you've done to this place.
>>
>>19114779
"It has a massive plasma-burned crack on top of the Dome though. We really need to fix that.... Any recommendations, Miss Tolstoy?"
>>
>>19114779

"And I'm glad to be here. It's somewhat unexpected, as I hadn't originally intended on staying, but one doesn't look a gift unoccupied doom fortress in the mouth, does one?"
>>
"And I'm glad to be here. It's somewhat unexpected, as I hadn't originally intended on staying, but one doesn't look a gift unoccupied doom fortress in the mouth, does one?"
". . Doom fortress?" She asks, her smile faltering "What's *wrong* with you?"
"Aha!" Amy called out triumphantly.
Victoria sighed, and rubbed at her temples. "Amy put you up to this, didn't she."
"Yes, yes I did." She said with a wide grin.
>>
>>19114872
Take off our creepy helmet and smile.
"Yeah, Amy is a funny gal, isn't she?"

..... ".... But we actually did acquire the doom fortress and need to repair and re-decorate it."
>>
>>19114872

Alright, we can ditch the mask. "My apologies, ma'am. We had something of a bet going. Although I DID mean what I said - I AM glad to meet you, and this IS a beautiful house."

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Tolstoy. I was indeed put up to this. But I was sincere in my request; it's really a stuffy little place, in need of a proper homemaker's touch, you know? I need you to make this doom fortress, this Dave Cave to be, to feel... HOMEY."

Project pic related.
>>
"Sorry, we kind of had a bet going." You say, taking off your helmet. You blink as you try to get used to normal vision once again, but then you give her a grin. "We actually did acquire a doom fortress, though."
"From the. . paramilitary neoluddite communists, right?" She asked. "I'm, ah, completely out of my depth here."
"Most people are, mom." Amy said. "It's just that me and Dave are freaks."
"Dave and I, dear." Alexander said from behind, still typing at the keyboard.
"What? You're not a freak." Amy added. "Well, you are, kind of."
>>
>>19114962

"Long story. Let's just say you had some unsavory types in the neighborhood, but after a brief chat with me they scarpered off to elsewhere."

And chuckle at Amy being thick / intentionally obtuse.
>>
>>19114962
It really is lovely to meet you and your house is gorgeous.

The request for your help in decorating our new bunker was sincere, it's somewhat lacking in the comforting home department.

Now can we talk like people instead of you trying to be the perfect host and me screwing with your head, though I thought the skull face was a nice touch.

I'm going out with your daughter, it'd be nice to be considered family rather than just a guest.
>>
>>19114962
"I can tell, Mr. & Mrs. Tolstoy, that this is the beginning of a glorious friendship. And a Wizard of Oz dynamic, thinking about it. Why, Amy's a cybergoth Dorothy with a submachinegun, I'm the Tin Man and Scarecrow all in one with more tentacles, Mrs. Tolstoy is the cowardly lion, and I suppose Mr. Tolstoy is the wizard. The question is, where's your curtain, Alexander?"
>>
"Mr Tolstoy seems remarkably okay with all of this."
>>
"It's a long story. Let's just say. . you had some unsavory types in the neighborhood, but after a brief chat with me they scarpered off to elsewhere."
"If by chat, you mean hacked all the guns on the base and started shooting at them, then yes." Amy added.
"At least now we can talk like people instead of you being the perfect host and me screwing with your head." You say. "Though I thought the skull face was a nice touch."
"And here I thought I was seeing things." She said with a glare.

Could you show me to the kitchen, I'd like to make a meal to apologize for the inconvenience of having us, and for the skull thing. That and I'm rather hungry.
>>
>>19115050

If you can power it remotely, have it scroll red LED-looking "SORRY" and a rose.
>>
>>19115060
Making meals as guest is insulting both to the hosts and the guests. What are you doing?
>>
>>19115059
Ah, but we do have the helmet in our hands, under our control. So we could always grin with both faces at once!
>>
You just grin, and she walks away.
"Now she's just going to wait until we leave." Amy said. "And then she'll start drinking and ranting. It's a good thing you're here, or she already would have started railing on me about my hair."
"Your dad seems remarkably okay with all of this." You say.
"Hey, dad! You okay with your daughter running around as a cyborg agent?" Amy yelled out.
He raised his fist, still sitting in the chair. "More power to you, dear." He responded.
Amy shrugged. "That's what he's been like. He doesn't seem to care about much."
>>
>>19115082
"Seems like a chill guy.
What do we do now?"
>>
>>19115082
"Sorry for having fun at your beloved's expense, Mr. Tolstoy, Amy and I thought it was too funny not to rattle her cage a little. I feel like you'll never hear the end of this, for which I am quite sorry."
>>
"Seems like a chill guy." You say. "What do we do now?"
"Well, I already alerted EE as to where we are, so they'll come here to pick us up." She said. "So until then, I can go make you something. You haven't had a home-cooked meal in forever, have you?"
>>
>>19115116

"We should go back to the Dome and mess around with it some more later. I was thinking of getting that AI back on line, it was interesting."

"You're amazing." You say, pulling her close. "I've had nothing but fast food for three months."
"I know." She responds. "The only real meal you had. . was poisoned by an enemy agent and you couldn't even eat it." She added, giggling and backing away.

You spend some time chatting with Mr. Tolstoy about 40k, and he nearly instantly starts asking more questions. It's strange- he didn't seem like he'd get involved in anything. "Is that why you have those mechandrites?" He asks. You nod. "Drites are awesome. I mean, yeah, they're hard to control, but they're stronger and more agile than a standard augment."
A few minutes later, Amy arrives with a few plates of spaghetti and you all sit down to eat. It's better than anything you've had in months, but it's obvious that she's relatively new to cooking. It's fairly informal, as Mrs. Tolstoy hadn't come back since she walked out, so the three of you are just lounging around, eating.
"That AI was interesting." You say. "Eleven, I mean. The one in the dome."
"Why is that?"
"Well, it seemed to have feelings for Twelve. It also felt fear and pain . . I didn't get to know much."
Amy sets down her fork. "That's mean." She says.
"What?"
"Making an AI to feel for you. AIs don't 'fall in love', you have to program it. And on top of that, programming it to feel pain? What the fuck is wrong with that guy?!"
>>
>>19115288
I wonder if Azure could fall in love by himself, since he's a true AI?
>>
>>19115313
He's a she nowadays.
>>
>>19115288
"It's a pretty severe ethical dilemma. But maybe it glitched out and attained those things on its own. Maybe it was written by a cluster, like Azure, and was complex enough to start self-improving and thinking and feeling. Or maybe this guy's some kind of rich asshole otaku who wrote his perfect murderous computer waifu, we can't say until we know more; I didn't get a good look at him when I was in his system, so I have no idea if he was a pimplyfaced neckbeard or not."

"I can't see the point in it feeling pain. Understanding the concept and danger, yes. Making it feel the full breadth of human emotions and sensations, without quite being human, that falls into a sort of... Mental uncanny valley. This Twelve guy is certainly... Unique."
>>
>>19115288
It's definitely a pretty immoral way to guarantee loyalty. He definitely is a nasty fuck, I'll enjoy ripping his head off. Maybe I'll be able to convince Eleven to change sides, it seems innocent in all this and if it's as sentient as I think it deserves some freedom to choose its life course.

I also got the drites as they're incredibly practical, though a bit hard to get hold of. There are so many things you can do with them.
>>
>>19115288
>What the fuck is wrong with that guy?!"

"He's an international terrorist who thinks nothing of killing innocents or sending his own men to their certain deaths. We could go on all day about what the fuck's wrong with that guy."
>>
>>19115313
She doesn't feel pain though, she said so herself.

>>19115288
"Yeah? I thought it might have been a by-product of an advanced AI but if it was specifically programmed that way. Yeah, that guy was a dick."
>>
Soon enough, you finish dinner and Amy and Alexander are both talking about the various advantages and disadvantages of various different designs of gen-2 augments, but it's nothing you can entirely wrap your mind around- they seem all the same to you.
"Oh, hey." Amy said, as her phone rang. She picked it up. "It seems that EE is here to pick us up." She said, standing. "I'll call you later, dad." She said, and he waved her off.
"Don't blow up too many things, now." He responded.
"No promises~" She tittered as the two of you went out into the cold. "Ooh, they got us a VTOL."
There was a strange aircraft there- one with engines that were currently pointing straight down instead of forward.
>>
>>19115433
We haven't seen or heard about VTOLs before?

"Right, anything else you want o do before leaving, Amy? Maybe visit your childhood friends?
No? Lets go then."
>>
>Exabyte ‏ @Futureexabyte

>>
>>19115433

Swank. Are Sigma and Omega aboard, or did they get their own ride home?

Omega seems like the right brain to pick for more info on the superhuge gunship. I know he only got a brief look, but it's still his bailiwick.
>>
>>19115433
Well, make sure the VTOL isn't a trap, ping it and check who's driving it and so on. Then get in and prepare for a long trip home. Pick up Sigma and Omega of course.

On the way home ask Omega about the super huge gunship, chat with Sigma a bit about the op and spend time with Amy.
>>
>>19115460

OOH! And that reminds me! Is he going to need to borrow our hangar facilities until he can get his dropship back to functional? Yet another opportunity for EE and KI to play nice together.
>>
>>19115445
>Yes, Dave knows what a VTOL is. EE just never usually uses them, so he doesn't interact with them much.

"Right. Anything else you want to do before leaving, Amy? Maybe visit your childhood friends?"
"Hah, no." She said.
"No? Let's go then." you say, carrying your helmet with you. You ping it with your mind, and sense that it's Mark driving the VTOL. Omega and Sigma are in there as well, so you climb into the vehicle, and strap yourselves in.
"Sigma, Omega." You say to the other two people in the back of the plane.
Omega's glaring at you. "You look well fed." He says. "Almost as if you didn't leave us in a rapidly-cooling facility where the AI is constantly pointing turrets at you."
You feel the engines start up.
>>
>>19115475
If there is a corporate merger, we should get all the agents together and be the band for the corp-wedding.
>>
>>19115494
"Hey, we did invite you along. Wait, maybe we didn't.
Huh, sorry about that."

<Will Talos keep the place secured enough?>
>>
>>19115494
"So what's going happen to your ship, Omega?"
>>
>>19115494
They weren't going to shoot you, and it just seemed inappropriate to bring you to Amy's house.

Tell you what, I'll buy both of you a case of beer.

So Omega, what can you tell me about the massive fucking gunship, you're the expert in flying vehicles around here.

Also given this threat do you think we'll be able to keep KI and EE on good terms, we worked well together and we might be able to set up the Davecave as a joint facility or something like that.
>>
>>19115494
"You could have come along, all you had to do was ask! Didn't you at least find some rations or something in the not-swiftly-icing-over parts of the doom fortress? Maybe some nice fur coats?"
>>
>>19115494
Err no we err. Helmet time.

Apologize about talos.
>>
"Hey, we did invite you along. Wait, maybe we didn't. Heh, sorry about that."
His glare only grows stronger. You meep and put on your helmet.
"So, uh, what's going to happen to your ship, Omega?"
"Well, all of the fancy parts were still intact, so I tore all of those out and put them in the back of the plane." He said, pointing over to what looked like a pile of wreckage.
"That's all of the expensive stuff, so it shouldn't be long until I get a new one."

<Will Talos keep the place secured enough?>
<The Dome has a satellite uplink, so I set him to inform you if anything goes on.> Azure responded.

"So, Omega, what can you tell me about that massive fucking gunship? You're the expert in flying vehicles around here."
"Well, I only saw it for a little bit, but it's enormous. Not very fast, and definitely not very power-efficient. It's almost like. . the airborne version of an aircraft carrier, I suppose. Very large, but slow, but it serves as a good. . what's the word. . it extends the reach of their power. Like a mobile HQ or something."
>>
>>19115574
Interesting, whoever is doing this is well funded as hell. I'll ask Abel to look into this.

Spend time with Amy, see if we can sing in duet with our helmet's synthesized voice.
>>
>>19115574

"Just what we needed. A psychopath with delusions of being Nick Fury."

I also second the offering of a case of beer for the gents. We couldn't have gotten to Antarctica in time to see them fuck off without Omega's speed, and then we'd have no clue about the hover-fortress-thing.
>>
>>19115574
Something that large won't be able to hide for long. Or do as much damage now that it's giant gun is missing. Hopefully this 12 is stupid and attacks CD, hell hopefully they destroy each other.
>>
"Just what we needed. A psychopath with delusions of being Nick Fury." You say. "Whoever is doing this is well-funded as hell."
"And how." Omega adds.
"Something that large won't be able to hide for long." You say. "Or do much damage."
"Uh. . you forgetting something, Dave?" Amy asks. "The ship was underwater. Who's to say that they aren't just chilling at the bottom of the ocean or something?"
"Good point." You say. "But here's to hoping they attack CD and they both get destroyed. Or something."
>>
>>19115695
"Amy. You know how I kept going on about how 'we need a bigger plasma cannon?' That thing. That thing is why we need a bigger plasma cannon. In fact, didn't that thing have a giant plasma cannon? One which we blew off if I remember right? We need to salvage that before we leave, if there's anything we can find of use."
>>
"Amy." You say. "You know how I kept going on about how 'we need a bigger plasma cannon?' That thing. That thing is why we need a bigger plasma cannon. In fact, didn't that thing have a giant plasma cannon?"
"It wasn't plasma." Omega added. "I took it with the rest of the wreckage. If anything, it's more like a massive railgun or a massive gauss rifle. Something electromagnetic, at least."
"Plasma is electromagnetic too!" Amy said. "At least, if it's well made."
>>
>>19115760
"We need to find something to stick that railgun on to. Regrettably, I don't think I'll be able to wield it on my powersuit."

"So what do EE and KI say about this mission? We didn't really get any info, did we?"
>>
>>19115760
Awesome now we just have to debrief the board on what happened. Hopefully they are pleased with everything and will let me rest.
>>
"We need to find something to stick that railgun onto." You say.
Amy rolls her eyes. "Always you with the big guns."
"So, uh, what did EE and KI say about this mission?"
Sigma shrugged. "They say the mission is a success, as we scared them out of their bunker and prevented them from using it, without any notable loss of life. Because most of Omega's parts are still intact, it's also without any notable loss of equipment."
>>
>>19115760
"So we can use it to make an mproved, slug throwing railgun. Or an improved plasma lightning-gun-from-hell. Or... We COULD combine the two and make a weapon that slings electromagnetically contained balls of plasma. You know. To contain all the green death in one lovely little explosive package. Minimize the bleedoff we get with the current 'bolt' design, increasing efficiency, in theory."
>>
>>19115815
"That's great though I'm still a bit peeved that he got away."

"How long will it take to get back on this craft?"

"That's great- although I'm still a bit peeved that he got away." you say.
"Hell, don't you remember anything?" Amy asked. "Natalie got away, and you got her later. That templar girl got away, and you got her later. That's just how your nemesises roll. Is nemesises even a word?"
"How long will it take to get back on this craft?"
"I talked to Mark about it, and he said a few hours. It's nearly half as fast as the Omega, though." Omega said. "I notice that all of your guys have the most ordinary names. Amy, Dave, John, Mark. . While here at KI we all have fancy names like Omega, Epsilon, Sigma, or Gemini."
>>
>>19115896

"We're not really big on code names, so those are our ACTUAL names. Code names can be a little dehumanizing. It's bad when your employer starts looking at you as an asset instead of a person."
>>
>>19115896
"Well, I never cared for codenames. Don't know about the others though"
>>
"We're not really big on code names." you say. "Those are our *actual* names. Code names can be a little dehumanizing."
"What, you don't worry about people finding and harming your loved ones?" Sigma asked.
"Well. . Most of the people in my life are either mercenaries or are in EE as agents." Amy said. "So even if I had a codename, I'd still have to worry."

"That settles it." Amy says. "When we get back, I'm going to make me show you your cat once and for all."
"What's their name?" Omega asks, more interested than you thought he'd be.
"Ishelda." You respond.

"Your dad's one chill motherfucker, though." You say. "I like him."
"Who doesn't?" Then she shrugged. "Keep in mind, I only lived with them for around ten years, though, because around then, I moved down here to live with Verne. Being I didn't have augs until then, either, I was just left with stumps and a wheelchair for two years."
"I can see why that place might have bored you out of your mind."
"Well, *yeah*." She said, leading you to the elevator. "By the way, did Grayson ever arrange for you to stay at his place?"
"No, not yet. He said I could, but I haven't moved anything over there."
The two of you eventually reach Jun's office, so you knock and walk in.
"Yo." you say. Jun spins her chair around to face you. "I see you two got back. The mission was a success, I've heard."

But yeah, this is a weakness we should rectify."

"Oh, no, not at all. If anything, it's more similar to. . a flying, covered motorcycle, I suppose. Lean one way, and it turns that way. Pull up, and the whole thing goes higher. "I was talking to Amy. Why not name them Raven?"
"Huh. . that's better." She said. "But there will be two of them."
"What about the ravens of Odin? Huginn and Muninn?"
". . Huh. That might work."
"So, Grayson, I wanted to talk to you about the security. Did you figure out how the Resurgence guys managed to slip by, knock me out and kidnap me? And why Talos did nothing?"
"Well, there was only the one guy we hired. He told Talos that the two other people he was inviting were guests, and Talos believed it." He said. "And then when you were unconscious, Talos didn't even understand that they were doing something wrong."
He shrugged. "The techs are working on it now. Now, only security, agents, and executives can invite 'guests' past the lobby."
>>
>>19117249
"Huh. I guess we need to make some tweaks to Talos then?"

"What was happening around here while we were gone?"
>>
See if we can mount IR cameras at the entrances so Talos can measure body heat and give a warning to security if he thinks someone lies.
>>

>>19117281
Lets not
>>
Also tell Amy
"I will certainly help you will heavy lifting and other things that might come up. Make sure to call me when you need me, okay?"
>>
"Huh. I guess we need to make some tweaks to Talos then?" You ask, but he shakes his head.
"No need- there's little else for us to do, but the techs can handle it. You haven't gotten any sleep since you got kidnapped, have you?"
"No, not really." You say. "But then again. . ."
You're suddenly cursed with the thought that you no longer need sleep. In fact, you don't even feel tired.
You shake your head, and Amy looks at you, slightly worried. "What was happening around here while we were gone?" You ask.
"Well, Epsilon was connected to an IDW chair all day, and basically sat there chatting to me as we worked the security. The KI agents aren't bad." He says. "I'm hoping that we work together a bit more."
"Ooooh." Amy says, her eyes alight. "Grayson has a crush."
"If you say anything, you gremlin. . " Grayson starts, but Amy just gives him a wicked grin.
>>
>>19117275
Nobody thinks this is a good idea? oh well

"Heh. You should talk to Sigma if you need to know more about her."

"Anything else to be worried about? We don't have any missions coming up, right?"

I don't think that method is reliable. Though if we had a dedicated AI we might do it, Talos is just not suited for it."

I wonder what the implications would be that grayson got all crushed (damn this term usage) to a girl who was litterally strapped into a chair, incapable of moving more than a little for a great length of time...

either way suggest he try talking to her ex if he wants to try going out with her

Don't forget to say this to Amy >>19117329

And I guess we should see Mark about the fortress of doom.
Oh speaking of which.
"Guees who just acquired a fortress in middle of nowhere?"
>>
>>19117337
>You're suddenly cursed with the thought that you no longer need sleep. In fact, you don't even feel tired.

I wonder if we are overworking our body without knowing it? We should run some scans and tests. Just because we don't die if we don't breathe for example, doesn't mean it is healthy for our body.
>>
"Heh." you say. "Talk to Sigma. He'll tell you more about her. Good luck."
"What, you aren't going to help me tease him?" Amy asked. You shrug.
"Anything else to be worried about?" You ask him. "We don't have any missions coming up, right?"
"No missions that I know of. Of course, there's always the chance that some other corp shows up and picks a fight. . in which case we just point you at them and dive for cover." He says.
"Hey, I'm not that wild." You say.
"Uh. . Less than four hours ago, you dove through an exploding plasma burst." Amy says. "I'd say you're pretty wild."
"Psh, the wild one who's going to help you build two flying machines. Speaking of which, any time you need me, just call." You say. She nods.
"Also, Grayson." You say. "Guess who just acquired a snowy fortress in the middle of nowhere?"
"You did. Jun told me." Grayson said.
>>
>>19117455
"Damn....

...Still, pretty awesome, right?"
>>
>>19117455
It's pretty cool isn't it.

Honestly the best use of it is probably to set up a joint EE KI facility/bunker/vacation home there. KI is a lot bigger than EE, but they don't seem to really understand that EE has 4 agents, four amazing agents but still only a few. They are running out of letters in the Greek alphabet for theirs.

Currently they think we're bigger and tougher than we are, and that our Gen 3 technology is a lot better than it is, the Bullfrog is great, but given that it only works for me for now and there are serious flaws in implanting it we don't have as much as they think we have. If we hammer out a deal as soon as possible we can secure more than if we wait.
>>
>to-do list

-Talk with MArk about the Doom Fortress
-Help Amy with Ravens
-Get combat training
-Get upgrades for our suit (cloak and/or thrusters)
-Grab Ishelda
-Train more. Ranged, cqc, combat maneuvers in full equipment

all I can think about for now
>>
>>19117455
"You know, I always wanted to live in a doom fortress like one of the ones the Nazis set up, those 'Flaktürme.' Just because, hey, where better to make a home than an ancient fascistic regime's oversized anti-aircraft blockhouse? Nowhere, that's where. And now my dream has come true. Albeit with more snow and penguins. I still need to make the place feel like home and patch up the gigantic breach in the ceiling, but otherwise it's perfect. You should really come take a look some time, even the bombed out empty shell is a real beaut."
>>
"Damn. . Still, pretty awesome, right?"
He nods. "I can't wait to see it." He says.
"Honestly, I'm thinking. . the best use of it would be to set up a joint EE and KI facility there. KI's a lot bigger than we are, but they don't seem to understand that we're not as powerful as they think. The bullfrog is great, but it only works for me. If we use the bunker to help hammer out a deal, we can secure more than if we wait."
Amy and Grayson both give you a Look.
" . . This is Dave, right?" Grayson asked Amy.
"Hey, it's me." You say, as the elevator stops.
"Now, let's go talk to Mark." Amy says.
"I'll be in the training room if you need me, Dave." He says, and then salutes and walks off, shouldering his massive gauss rifle.

"So." Mark says. "It seems that Omega got all of the parts he needed, so his dropship should be intact." He said. "You two, don't let him bust it again. I don't want to have to take you two home again. That's five hours of my life I'll never get back."
"Hey, Mark." Amy says. "Any chance of letting me use the synthesis machine? Just. . a little bit? More like a lot."
"Why?" Mark asked, hesitantly.
"I have a lightweight vehicle design I want to test out, but standard alloys are too flimsy or too heavy." She says.
"Well. . If you don't take too long on it." He says, and she grins. "But if we need it to make more power suits, you'll have to take a break."
"Got it!" She said, as she ran into the back of his workshop.
"So, what are you here for, Dave? Need a billion thousand cameras attached to your backside?" He asked, chuckling.
>>
>>19117609
"Huh, cameras on my back if I'm not wearing a helmet? That's an idea...

Anyway, Jun told me you were interested in testing out some repair droids on the bunker we recently got. You're still up to it right?

"Why do you always assume I'm going to be sticking more cameras or guns or cameraguns somewhere? No, I'm here to inquire about something far different to more power armor. You see. I've recently acquired a DOOM FORTRESS, and I need your technical expertise in renovating it."
>>
"Well, I do have a fantabulous ass. ."
"Yes, yes he does." Amy calls from the back of the workshop, hitting on a large machine.
"But anyway, Jun told me you were interested in testing out some repair droids on the bunker we recently acquired. You're still up to it, right?"
"Well. . Not today, of course, but yeah, tomorrow morning we can go out on the VTOL and see what they can do. If it works, then it's going to make my job a *lot* easier." He said.

Implying that is not an amazing idea which I wholeheartedly endorse.

>>19117705
Can we get more details on that?

After that, we should go see Abel and see how he is doing.

I didn't know Amy had a thing for the CLANK CLANK CLANK.
>>

Good, we shall make this bunker awesome.

If we're naming the transports Huginn and Muginn we may as well call the base Hlidskjalf, the throne from which Odin sees the entire world. Thought that may be a bit hard to say, if we're turning it into a training facility and a place we do war out of Valhalla works.

>>19117609

We should definitely charge rent in that case.

>>
>>19117758
Rent might be tricky, instead of rent we just have both companies pitch in the resources to outfit it into the superbunker full of awesome it will become and have them both share the upkeep.

A good use of it is a joint training facility for new agents, there's plenty of room, it's safe and it means that the new agents from both companies will be friendly with each other and this combined with a shared asset ought to keep the two on good terms.

"What exactly do the drones do?"
"Well, They're flying versions of a 3D printer, mostly. Pretty simple- right now I have them making more of themselves. I just need them to have an actual AI, and there we go. But we don't need an AI with you around, right?"
"Right." You say. "Where do they get their materials from?"
"Well, the same fuel that the synthesizer machine does. It's pretty much an atomic goop that, when put through various processes, become any material you could wish for. It's relatively new, though, and expensive."
You shrug; you just got paid, after all.

You simply wait there, sitting in the workshop watching Mark and Amy work on their various projects. Amy's only real work is to keep hitting the button every time the machine expels long, black plates of some material, while Mark is tinkering with some drones and getting them to work.
"So, how exactly will these ravens work?" You ask.
"Well. . Hmm. . ." Amy starts, and then draws up her wrist computer. "For the most part, it'll use hover plates to keep aloft. That's nothing special. but what will be special are the jets I'm putting in the back."
"The jets?"
"Well, you know how power shielding works, right? and how it works on the same theory as the shockwave gauntlet?"
She grins.
"Basically, I'm going to use power shield repulsion to shove it through the air at completely ludicrous speeds. It should also allow lateral and backwards movement at more. . sane speeds."

Hey Abel. You watching porn on company time?

A few things, what's your opinion on moving to Antarctica? I've acquired a bunker there, you can do your work from anywhere and we're planning on turning it into a EE and perhaps joint EE KI facility. It'd be useful to have you there and it'd be incredibly difficult to shoot you there.

You close your eyes, and instantly try to hack his system. . .But everything's jammed. You can't even get an inch of ground.

We get to see our cat again. She will be utterly apathetic towards our presence, how very much like her.

How hard would it be to get more agents for EE, until we get a mergerish thing going with KI we have 4 agents, 1 of whom only does overwatch and information. That's kind of a low number.

EE is a pretty small company right? It just happened to do Gen-3 and get more success than most and had to start punching outside it's league with the big guys like CD, fortunately for them we're their boxing gloves.
