    Or, Disregard Females, Acquire Currency

    >Previous Threads:

After wrapping up some loose ends during the Week, Dan was finally able to get his planned expedition to Vermont, and enter the Vermont Exclusion Zone. After a day's drive, and then several hours wasting time trying to not get Irradiated, Daniel and co managed to find a hidden Cyrean chamber underground. After entering the chamber, and falling through an in complete floor, Dan discovered a hidden cache of Cyrean technology. Shitloads of Cyrean technology.

You stand up and dust yourself off, and examine the Cyrean cache room. Roxane's headlamp dances around the room as well, limited by her viewpoint from the level above. You realize that this room would be totally dark without her light, and your own nightvision, except for the faint glow of certain Cyrean electronics.

You're no master of appraisal, or anything, but you assume the Cyrean Tech stockpiled in this room is worth tens or hundreds of thousands. If you could sell it on the open market, not just cash it in for salvage, you'd probably be looking at millions. And unless someone steps in in the next five or so minutes it's probably all yours.

Inventory on the modules are easy. They are placed onto hexagonal pallet like racks in one corner of the room, three of them. Your psi senses can effectively read the embedded data on each module. Most of them, a good half, are the ones you already possess, mostly Bolt and Barrier, but a handful of Sense modules. The rest are fairly common HALO-level modules, though ones that you haven't yet obtained.

As you do inventory, Johnny manages to get the Hammer off its back, and back onto its feet. It almost stands tall enough to be level with the hole. Roxane takes the opportunity to scramble down it using the handholds and get to the floor, and looks around. She whistles in appreciation. "Amazing. It's an undamaged Cache!"

Examining the module storage you find multiple copies of the following modules

    >Psi Ram
    >Psi Shock
    >Psi Burn
    >Psi Heal
    >Psi Freeze

(Also, pick a number between 1 and 3)

Surprisingly, your Genetic Memory lacks health and safety instructions. So you're not exactly sure what happens.

But this issue is easily circumvented by just taking each power in turn, and not literally grabbing ALL THE POWERS at once.

    >Psi Ram:
Psychic Battering ram ability. Lobs a giant brick of mass with psychic energy. Deals scattered damage, so it doesn't hurt people so bad, but has Range and Mass for Knockback, so it will send people or objects hit with it flying if they aren't prepared.

    >Psi Shock:
Electroshock module favored by Cyrean infiltrators. Limited to touch range, but can be lethal or non-lethal, and also is conductive, so it deals radiating damage to the ground from where you hit. And also conducts through things.

    >Psi Burn:
Offensive/Demolitions module. Ranged projectile that burns on impact, and deals greater harm than regular Psi Bolts.

    >Psi Heal
Medical healing module. Also only touch ranged, and can't cure diseases or toxins, but will repair bodily damage on the subject.

    >Psi Freeze
Basically the reverse of the Burn module. Can damage targets with extreme cold, or do a binding function to slow up their movements and body functions.
    >> Anonymous 05/01/12(Tue)18:37 No.18938756
All the powers sound pretty useful.
Psi Ram for positioning/breaking someone's momentum and tempo.
Psi Shock/Burn/Freeze for various damage sources and extra utility (conductivity/demolitions/lockdown and control).
Psi Heal as a spare heal. We can rely on our Necromancy less.

Let's nab them one at a time just so we don't get sensory overload. Then get everyone to find a way to stockpile the rest while we examine the rest of the gear here.

You quietly start whistling to yourself as you pull off a glove. And pick up a module. Its lights flash bright for a second, and you casually gain the ability to telekinetically flip cars, kinda. "So, how we gonna get all this stuff out?" You ask, casually tossing aside the spend module. "Well," Roxy says, "If we can get the Hammer topside again, I can probably rig a pulley system with its winch and pull the stuff up." You nod, taking a second module. "So we need to see if there's a way back up there from here." Roxane nods, and starts looking around the room, the little ball optics of the Hammer doing the same. You just keep on picking up modules, until you're satisfied.

So, you can either go about checking for a way upstairs, or continue examining the cache.

Thanks, but I can't take credit. It was designed by a kindly anon for the quest

You decide to remain and categorize more of the items. The Armor all racked is Cyrean sized, unfortunately. It also looks like their standard issue armor, not any of the more specialized variants. Oddly, none of the armor is marked, no identification. You do see a couple rank configurations though, for Squad Commanders and one Squad Captain (Who commands multiple squads). One wall is racked with Cyrean ranged weapons, mostly plasma rifles and pistols, though there is a couple crates of plasma grenades, and also some shard rifles and pistols. The other wall is racked with melee weapons. Knives and swords mostly, but also a decent number of the pikes. You also find a couple of un-attached Plasma Swords, which can be mounted to armor. There are more storage containers for supplies, but other than some Cyrean Rations and unmarked uniforms, they all seem to be empty.
    >> Anonymous 05/01/12(Tue)19:29 No.18939399
I don't see us using any Cyrean weaponry anytime soon. We already have the knife, and we rely on our powers more anyway.
Let's start getting this stuff set up and find a way out.
    >> Omega !Q7t.srvWZ6 05/01/12(Tue)19:29 No.18939410

You are assuming Cyreans have jetpacks.

    >Can't we just make a ramp with Earth Evocation or something?

Floor is Cyrean Synth-crystal. It's also really tough stuff. You could try breaking through the floor to make a ramp though.

    >Psi Ram the ground under our feet

Well, Mechanically that's not how knockback works, normally. And I'd also say given the nature of the powers, that's also probably not how it physically works either. Dan isn't pushed back by the ram. Otherwise He'd also be flung, y'know, 4+ yards whenever he used it.

We want to go up, not down. There's a whole hill of earth above us. We might need to make the hole in the ceiling bigger though.

    >And I'd also say given the nature of the powers, that's also probably not how it physically works either. Dan isn't pushed back by the ram.
Well we simply need to aim the ram at us. Put our hand underneath us, fire a ram and blast ourselves up into the air repeatedly. We don't even need reaction surfaces that way. Just balls of steel. Any Cyrean codpieces around?

    >We want to go up, not down. There's a whole hill of earth above us. We might need to make the hole in the ceiling bigger though.

Well, the ceiling is also the floor of a higher level, which also has its own ceiling. You're in an underground structure, so you're surrounded on all sides by crystal. Still can try and break it though.

Probably want to shatter the crystal after we've made the tunnel/ramp so we don't just bring the whole hill down on our heads.

Yeah, see if Johnny and Roxy want anything. They might want a pistol or something, and Roxy will probably find interesting stuff to tinker with (like that fab).
    >> Omega !Q7t.srvWZ6 05/01/12(Tue)19:46 No.18939707

I would like to see you try.

But unless you can also tip it on its side and shake it until all the stuff comes out, you still have all the heavy stuff stuck at the of a hole.

If you'll recall, Dan and Co entered the underground section into an empty room, then fell through the floor of that room into the current room filled with soon-to-be riches. Roxane and Johnny are currently looking for conventional ways back up now.

Modern power armor, sure, but the Hammer is more like a mini-mecha. It's arms are not shaped properly to place the plasma sword on it, the apparatus more snaps over the forearm of the existing armor.

Well, all the gear found so far is personal weapons, but you could probably rig them to fill the gun-now-tool pods on The Hammer's arms.

You begin scrounging through the weapons. Maybe you'll find a heavy Anti-Vehicle Plasma Cannon, or something. You don't, and but instead pick up a shard pistol, check it, then look for some ammunition for it. While doing so, you phrase a question to Johnny, "Hey, man, want any of this stuff?" "Nah, man. I'd prefer the money." He replies. "And if you're gonna go through the trouble of mounting guns to this thing, I'd prefer conventional weapons. Y'know, stuff I can actually read the instruction manual for." You nod, slowly, while slapping in an octagonal canister of ammunition, and disengaging the biometric safety.

Just then, Roxy manages to get the door on the far end of the room open, and pokes her head out. "Hey, there's a ramp back up a level!" She calls back. Well, now you can get out of here. You gesture to Johnny. "Ramp." The optic ball nods, and he starts clunking off. "Ooh, hey, is that a shard pistol?" Roxane says as she walks back up to you. "May I?" She asks, and you offer it. She takes it and examines it, gripping it experimentally. "So light... Y'know, since the light kidnapping, I've been looking for some self-defense a little more substantial and longer ranged than my gloves." You shrug. "It'll come out of your share, but whatever. There's like eight or nine of them here."

"Yeah, yeah, put your new toy away, and have a look at this." You say, putting a hand on Roxy's shoulder and directing her toward the back of the room. She tucks the pistol into her belt and comes with you.

As you first suspected, the Fabricator is build right in to the back wall. This is unusual. Not unheard of, but all the fabricators you're familiar with were standalone models, usually large, trapezoidal, and industrial. This one is not that, and in fact, past the interface system, it almost seems like you could step into the fabrication chamber, like the store kiosks in Dead Space. Roxane gasps in amazement. "Wow! Is this what I think it is." You, being able to read Cyrean moderately well at this point nod. "Yep. It's a fabber. Seems offline, though." You examine it closer, while Roxane peers at the interfaces.

It springs to life when she touches one of the interface panels, and all the displays light up. A message in red letters appears on the primary screen. You translate it as "Alert. Supply Minifacturing Station, Emergency Power Only! Please Contact nearest Engineer station for assistance." "Huh," You say. "What is it?" "Looks like its emergency power only." You clear the warning, and a new alert appears. "Internal Battery 87%. Insufficient Resource Blocks to assemble." A small rectangular tub-like tray pops out from the side of the machine. "Please insert resource blocks." You quickly scrounge around to the side and pop open the block tray that usually holds the fabber's fuel for minifacturing. It's mostly empty, only four blocks remain, but you do notice a slightly larger than normal power module lying in one of the slots. And the markings are different.

Your glove is handily already off, so you can easily pluck up the module. The power floods into your body, flowing up into your torso, congregating on your back and shoulder blades. In your field of vision, the Cyrean words "SERAPH Flight Module Implanted, EX Overland Flight Version .7" scroll. Roxane grips your shoulder. "What happened, Dan?" You shake your head a little to clear it, and say. "Found one of the Flight modules, though this one is different, supposedly." You look down in your hand to find the module not dead or inert, but rather its lines radiating a red-orange color, with a faint pulse. The Psychic Metadata seems to say "Return module to nearest recharge station". Huh.

Johnny clanks by upstairs, and manages to jump the hole in the floor, and seems to be making his way outside.
    >> Omega !Q7t.srvWZ6 05/01/12(Tue)21:03 No.18941064

BTW, .7 is the Cyrean equivalent to .9, because they use Base 8 instead of Base 10.

    I've mentioned that before, right?

Well, that's the thing. Modules usually don't recharge. Even the higher ranked modules are produced on demand and are still one and done. As far as Dan is aware, you couldn't recharge the modules. Presumably this is part of the experimental system involved here.
    >> Anonymous 05/01/12(Tue)21:07 No.18941173
We might be able to recharge it here but I'm not sure. See if the fabber can recharge it. If not look for a way to power it, if we could hook it up to the batteries on some of the weapons perhaps. I suggest we see if we can drag the fabber with us when we go. With our knowledge and Roxy's MAD SCIENCE we might be able to get it functional again.

Nope. And, in fact, Cyrean's don't go for automation. Not their style, it's all a manual interface. It just appears that this model of fabber requires you to load it before you can interact with it, like a printer out of ink.

You place the module in a pocket, and examine the fabber. It seems pretty firmly placed into the wall, though you can see the seam where it's built in. If you had some specialized tools, or knew more about Cyrean construction, you might be able to dismount it from the wall, and take it with you. A project for once you get room clear, maybe. "Roxy, remind me on the legalities of fabricator possession." You say, as you take one of the rectangular fuel blocks and place it in the slot, then load it in. The machine begins processing it. "Hrm," Roxy frowns and thinks, as you continue working. "Well, Fabricator systems are classified by the UN with a letter code. A- and B-type fabbers are Grey tech. They're also extremely rare, the A-types being true nanofabrication engines. I think there's like 6 of those left in the globe, and most of them are dissassembled for research purposes. The B-Types are more like Cyrean minifacturing, only desktop sized. Not many of those either. And all of those are owned by private collectors or research institutions which don't have access to the As. Those are super advanced Black Box tech, and owning a functioning one is restricted the same way owning nuclear arms is. C, D and E-type fabbers are Cyrean. C-types are the common ones, about the size of a forge, or a couple refrigerators. We've got plenty of those left on earth. Trading in them illegal, like the modules. The D-types are their industrial sized ones, and they're treated like the Cs."

She pauses for a second as you load the second to last block into the fabber, keeping the final one shoebox sized brick for study. "This looks like what I've hear the E-type units are like. Mounted into their hardware. I thought they were just on their ships, or on their own planets, almost like a store kiosk. And those technically aren't restricted because you can't own them, they're mounted to hardware. Also, the GC recovered all the downed Cyrean ships. Y'know, the eight we actually shot down." "Uh-huh," you say, as you clear the error, and get the Fabricator's main operating menu. "Well, theoretically if we could own one, legal stance?" "Well, so long as we don't go selling it to anyone, I don't think there's any restriction for it."

You hit the diagnostics button on the interface, and it relays "Processing...". While you wait, you hand the last brick to Roxane. She opens up the container, which is a pale greenish blue color, the equivalent to brown paper wrapping. The markings on it translate roughly to "Inorganic Fuel Block Class-A". She examines the pale, grayish brick, breaks off a corner, and breaks off a piece of the corner. She pops off her bubble helmet, wafts the chunk under he nose, then sniffs the air. "Huh, irony. Carbon, too?" She crumbles the corner up, and it breaks down into a fine powder. She then runs a finger along it, commenting "Doughy." she pauses, then sticks her tongue out and moves her hand toward her mouth. You grabs her wrist halfway there. "Don't. Lick. The Nano Fuel." She shoots you annoyed glance. "What? Haven't you watched movies, Dan? It's my duty to taste it." You cock an eyebrow. "What happened to safe science?" "It's just some basic chemical building blocks..." "Which could contain higher doses that you'd like of something, I'm sure. Never know if they need heavy metals for something..." She glowers at her finger, then back at you, and brushes the dust off her glove and back onto the brick. The fabber beeps.

Well, it's been sitting here for 17 years or more, and only lost 13% battery power idling. Or hell, maybe it burned up that much power when they turned it on and checked if it worked.

You access the blueprint library. The Diagnostic said it only had 4 files, which you know is unusually small for a Fabber. Presumably, they hadn't installed all the software yet when the facility was abandoned.

The first list item is something that doesn't translate well into English, but you do know that it's pretty much a paperweight they make with Fabbers to make sure they work. The list says it'll take .1 of a block to make and even less of a percentage of the battery power.

Then you scroll down to the good stuff. The Type-EX Fabber is loaded with Armor Templates. It contains Heavy Combat Armor, Tactical Scout Armor, and Command Armor templates, all ready to fab. Only problem is they'll use up about 85% of the battery, and a majority of the raw materials you just loaded in the system.

    Allow me to elucidate you.

Heavy Combat Armor is the kind preferred by Cyrean Shock Troops. Its HAR 5 in the head and body, and HAR 4 in all other locations. The armor is bulky, and may make it harder to do some more dexterous things, but is very hardy. It also has an equipped short range teleporter.

Tactical Scout Armor is naturally favored by their scout and infiltrator teams. It's HAR 4 in the head and body, and HAR 3 on the limbs, much slimmer, and not as tough as the Heavy Armor, but a lot more agile. It has a build in optical camouflage system.

Command Armor is utilized by field commanders, even higher up than just Squad Captains. It has a rank markers as part of the design and everything. It's HAR 4 to all locations, and strikes a mobility balance between the scout armor and the heavy combat armor. It's tech is a Tactical Uplink. It's not so useful now, with no Cyrean networks to mesh with, but if Roxy or somebody else technically inclined toys with it (Yourself included, Dan actually knows a fair amount about Cyrean tech) you could probably reconfigure it to network with human made technology.

And as I foreshadowed with the "able to step into it" point, all armor can and will be made to fit Dan.

To clarify, The Tactical Uplink is designed for lots of real-time communication, and real-time intelligence updates/battlefield management.

Depending on what kind of network you hook it up to, you could set it up for something as simple bluetooth phone to running a real-time tactical awareness on sections of the city. More complex equals more work (It's basically the long-term payout armor, as opposed to the other two's short-term payout)

"Right." You say, and nod, then step into the space.

A display lights up and a couple of doors actually slide closed on the front of the fabber. You're glad you're not claustrophobic. A display informs you to stand still. A cyan scanning laser sweeps you from head to toe, hurting your eyes as it passes. The display informs you to remain standing still, and light rises from the bottom of the fabrication chamber. You close your eyes tight and hold your breath as it reaches your head, there's a second of electric humming in your ear, and the light disappears. You step out and down out of the Fabber. "Well, how do I look?" You say. Your voice comes out kind of strange because you both hear it muffled and echoing in your own helmet, and also hear it emanating from the external speaker on your armor and being picked up by the external mic, since this armor is vac sealed. Roxy puts a hand on her hip and cocks it slightly to the side, and says, "Aren't you a little short for a-." You cut her off with a threatening finger. "If you finish that quote, I will punch you in the soul." She just smirks. Then stops and gets a tiny frown of thought. "Can you do that?" She asks, seriously. You shrug. "I have no idea." Respond, honestly.

You look down at yourself. Actually, the armor material and finish reminds you of storm trooper or clone trooper armor. Only the colors are different, a natural coloration flowing from a deep violet in places to a lighter indigo color through most of the body. While not completely contained like a proper Powered Exoskeleton, the breaks from plate to plate are minimal, only where required to preserve your flexibility, and you can see the body glove underneath. You actually realize being fully clothed (sans your jacked and body armor, because then you could not fit into this armor) is kind of snug in here. Two Words. Verbal. Components.

Well, the HUD relays the information on the outside world in the highest definition possible, that of real life! Joking aside, yeah, it relays visual information pretty clearly for you inside the helmet. It's probably not normally configured to render video, but if you can figure out how to send the data too it, it could show you a video, I suppose. Might need to update the drivers first.

Scent is possible, but you have to tell your suit to take in outside air, unfiltered. It defaults to not doing this, because its vacuum-sealed armor.

So, we've pretty much descended into question-time, so I'm going to go ahead and say the thread has ended-ish.

The summary version is that Dan can recover all his new found stuff, and cash it in with Regis for the government salvage, and he makes a lot of money. 10 points of Wealth as spending money, for starters. You guys can also have a weapon or two if you want, like Roxy keeping the Shard Pistol. Dan also manages to basically cut the Type-E fabber out of the wall, and it can be a plot point later. Chekov's Minifacturing, and whatnot.

So now, I have a few questions for you, dear readers. Dan has enough cash to do what I'm going to call "Base Upgrades", basically spend his money on some improvements for him lifestyle as befitting a Gentleman Psychic Adventurelock.

First Dan's gonna have a couple weeks with not much to do, so I'd like to know what you all feel he should do and work on in that time. Mostly, I'm thinking you'll want to convert the Command Armor hardware to hook up with human computer networks, and that'll take up a lot of that time as a project, but you can also squeak in some other things.

(upgrades in next post, because 4chan is a bitch)

    You can get (pick one):
-A "Home" Upgrade. Dan will find himself a better apartment near the Campus, with more space, better furniture, a view, etc. If he finds a roommate or two, he can afford to live there for a long while. Generally just improves quality of life.
-A "Workspace" Upgrade. He can move from the tiny workspace the college provides certain students to buying the equivalent space of a couple shipping containers in some Self-Storage place, he can convert to a workshop and store all his various gear and tech there, and also have some room to fill it with more supplies for his various technical modifications and magical mojo and have a quiet place to work on them
-An "Infrastructure" Upgrade. Dan can buy himself some new computers, get maybe a new tablet PC or a laptop, make sure he has the best possible Internet and Cellphone providers, get some of Roxy's mouser robots with sentry configurations and get them a dedicated server to run off of. Even maybe build a system with a weak AI Expert System to crunch numbers and check the police scanner and stuff like that.
-Or you guys can decide you don't want any of that, and get some additional wealth points.

And then I have another decision, but I'm gonna go ahead and give that its own post.

The Next decision is a doozy, so I'm gonna try and keep this thread alive for a while to make sure I'm getting a good sample of my reader-base. Basically, I have six core places this quest could go, location-wise. And since I've actually got ideas for these areas, I'm going to cut out the middle man, and ask you what story/area you'd all like to pursue, rather than have you guys flounder around where there's nothing in the sandbox and get nothing out of it. If there is a popular suggestion for something other than these options, I'm open to it, but having been doing this for a couple months now, I think I know what appeals to ye.

-Dan and Johnny can go to New York to visit Dan's Dad, and then they all go to Central America for Archaeology shenanigans.
-Alternatively Johnny can accompany Dan on a rushed trip out to Oregon for Dan to visit his mom, and then Organized Crime shenanigans occur involved Dan's maternal grandfather.
-Dan can go with Blackstone and Jeanne to London, to visit the Seekers of the Arcane, and learn more about magic and magic stuff.
-Dan and Roxy can go into SPAAAACE! and learn more about Aliens, Psi-tech, and other stuff.
-Dan can join Prof. Ellsworth and Anna on a research trip to New England. Where you will in *no way* run into more Outsider stuff.
-Dan can pick a couple of NPCs, and take a Vacation to Japan, where you'll hang out and just have fun times and maybe run into supercrime or something. Also you can see the giant robots.

Before something else happens that kind of closes up Act II, you guys have enough time for two. Maybe after those events, we can come back and do some of these, but for now, let's limit it to two.

That is because I forgot to add it. It's on there now.

Wrong kind of overland. See, normal Flight Modules are designed for short bursts of low-hovering ship (IE, landing craft or other small transports) to ground flying, and back, and navigating quick hops over difficult terrain or up to buildings.

The experimental new version Dan has has been modified to allow an alternate mode with lower acceleration, but higher top speed and more easily maintained speed without constant focus for extended trips.

If anybody has played either of the Zone of the Enders games, Jehuty can fly around normally with its systems, but also has that special long range flight mode where it can't really move around, but it can fly high and fast over long distances.

Really, I just think I'd love anything you came up with, Omega. This is seriously my favorite quest on /tg/ right now. I only regret I don't get to participate in it more due to real life restrictions.

As for the wealth, I'll have to take a cue from the Dresden Files here and say a Workspace Upgrade.
I'm assuming such an upgrade isn't going to take up all the wealth we just got, but a good chunk of it? If that's the case, I'd like to suggest the following:

50% of the money goes into a reinvestment that will see a return in a minimum of one year (perhaps city restoration?)
25% to Dan's personal spending money
20% to one of the afforementioned upgrades
    5% to a high-interest savings for emergencies.

We should also try asking Ashwood for advice on where to invest money, or at least who else to ask.

    right, forgot about the money.

I'm personally in favour of home upgrade, maybe we can convince Johnny and Roxanne to come live with us, and with some work we could turn one of the rooms into a workplace for some extra investment of time and money.
The hammer will have to stay in the smaller box (or whatever it was we kept him in) for repairs and maintenance, since the workshop will be for smaller things, and perhaps some magical experiments.

Well, maybe we could keep it in a shed, or a garage, considering I dont think Dan owns a Car.

Bump, and also a reminder: A few threads back I suggested using one of our blank Foci to make basically a receptacle for Dan's necromancy powers, to store and take life energy from.Pick sorta related. Also wondering, if we go to Japan, i wonder what would happen if we put some of that life/soul energy into a robot.. just some stuff we might want to remember. Im pretty sure someone brought up the idea again some threads after I did.
Also omega said it could be possible to make enchantments to enhance our Psi bolts and stuff, but it would require more research. I think if were going to keep on doing both Magic and Cyrean tech it would be cool to go full force and blend them, so I dont want to forget that.

Well, the Home/Work/Infrastructure is free, it requires no additional expenditure of resources. If you want to do one of the others in addition to the first choice, that takes additional effort.

And while your financial plan is nice, you are assuming I know and care enough about finances to make it an important point in the story. Now, I'm totally okay with saying that's what Dan does if we're okay with that, just don't expect it to be very important in the story exactly what he does with it (besides spend it on more superhero stuff)

I'm also gonna say it looks like Work has won by a decent margin.

And looking at the rest of it, I'd say its a Safe bet that Space will be one of the selections, but with like a whole day before I start the next thread, its still an open field for all the others, I guess.

You guys can probably fit that in during the couple of weeks Dan has to do stuff and plan out any trips and so on. I'll give you some time to figure out any enchanting you want to do. Like giving yourself a transformation sequence.

So, London is starting to pick up some momentum, which makes sense since Blackstone and possibly Jeanne are popular characters.

Given the way the votes are split up currently, and given that I know what will happen there, I'm not sure if I should just front load the Japan trip, do that section first, and then open up voting for something to do besides Space (because Space is clearly going to win one of the slots), mostly because one of the possible (and most likely) results for the Japan encounter would both make for an interesting twist to Dan's existing powers and some interesting character development for him. But, at the same time, I'm want to avoid the issue I had with the latter half of Act I, where one plot point stretched way longer than anybody, myself included wanted. Probably my own fault for envisioning a whole bunch of shorter story ideas I liked and giving myself limited slots.

Also, seriously, the way I explained the rods as working, that "10/10" configuration would result in a triangular pyramidal zone. They don't default to circles.
    >> Anonymous 05/02/12(Wed)22:36 No.18955522

    >This thing mostly hugs ground level. Makes a kind of dome
    >Magic. It needs to be a circle. No triangles. Triangles are not magical.
    Uh huh.
    >> Omega !Q7t.srvWZ6 05/02/12(Wed)22:40 No.18955594

Which is why it wouldn't work.

I just said that that would form a triangular a space. The magic doesn't mystically curve around corners. Because it wasn't designed to.

    Triangles still aren't magic.

Triangles are the second most magic shape of all, just behind circles.

What about pentagrams? Five lines make five equal triangles and a pentagon, the symbol has been used by multiple religions, was regarded by the Greeks as a pretty awesome shape, and it has strong connotations with the Devil and the occult.

I'll be honest, I don't even know what you're trying to say any more.

I dunno, pentagons and hexagons are fairly up there as well. Squares are as unmagical as shit though. >>18955691 can fuck right off.

No I don't. I was joking that Dan's universe obviously runs on a non-Euclidean geometry and Euclidean geometry was eldritch horror tier.

It's actually a zodiac circle I made as a reference for Final Fantasy Tactics and I suddenly got inspired. It's really the only artwork I've done that I'm genuinely proud of.

But that's how it works. Everyone knows α is the best and β is second-best. They get the whole system named after them. You're just a shitty depreciated vowel stuck on the end of the alphabet.
