Okay, no holes on the hull of this thread? Good.
    Reposting the rules:
    1) tribes can start at the red marked areas (labeled A to P), but there are restrictions depending on which species or ethnicity your tribe is composed of (will be detailed further).
    2) You can take any tribe and decide things for them. Roll a d20 for success. This includes expanding territory, developing technologies, diplomacy, attacks, etc.
    3) As usual, you may edit the creature's pic if you like - with a caveat this time: major edits are for equipment/clothing or buildings (see further explanations) primarily, while further evolutions are very minor (such as subtle coloration change, elongation of manipulative digits etc).
    4) I'll be here to arbitrate things and give the final say on things.

To start a tribe, pick a species, a starting point, a symbol, and a name for your tribe.

As flocks of the TentaFlouz become larger they begin to spread around the central currents drifting along trade winds and scattering. To the north of the hot deserts where they evolved some of the TentaFlouz become stranded in the Frilla forests of the north.

While initially the toxic trees killed many TentaFlouz there were some who grew immune, and even thrived on the entirely new gas in their systems. They became able to capture the toxic gasses and also mix them with their fire bomb gasses. (Starting point E)

These TentaFlouz named themselves Ry'lai. At night they began to settle into the tree tops to allow their bodies time to capture more poison gasses and to commune with each other. The light shows (I think everyone forgot that they still light up) of the Frilla becoming a sort of ancestral memory show for the Ry'lai.

Picture shows some poison gasses leaking from the firebombing arms of the Ry'lai.

Die rolling in this thread for the poison adaptations for the TentaFlouz in my tribe.

Meanwhile, non-sentient creatures may be evolved like in the previous evo games.

Allright, feedback for the first four races:
Hitangan Gorrirog find abundant metal ores in the rocks they use for shelter. But, they do not know its properties yet, they just think it's another kind of rock.
Zu-Nul Suzumou finds a receptive sandworm reply southeast of the nearest oasis, and they depart for the worm. The timing's right as well; the Hitangan set up camp where they were previously.
Ry'lai Tentouz adapted to the Frilla trees' poison, but this resulted in their spit-bombs becoming unpredictable; It has a small chance of malfunctioning.
Hu-Raan Koburrog found some evola and land flatworems... also the fact that there's land slizers to the forest north of them.

Though they don't follow just any random worms, just the ones that are nearing godhood, the old ones.
They respect the younger worms, but do not follow them, as they can't yet host the suzumou.

Note that the ancient godworms may host generations of the suzumou, as they can live for many hundreds, perhaps even thousands of years, as long as the suzumou can supply them with food.
The suzumou may be nomadic for some periods, but when they settle within the worm, they can stay put for hundreds of years.

Though many species found the cold north inhospitable, the hardy Lem found that they not only resisted the freezing temperatures, they thrived in them, and some of the more enterprising Lem banded together into a tribe. This tribe (at point A) called themselves the Zahrewi tribe, and were distrustful of outsiders as their fledgling settlement gained a foothold.

Organized in a relatively fluid caste system, the ranks of the Lem are, in descending order: Warden, Shaman, Beast-stalker, Maker, Gatherer, Farmer, Serf.

Warden Diogellu decrees that the beast-stalkers patrol the surrounding wastes for game and possible invaders. He also instructs them to look for animals with more than four legs which look able to support our weight and for any strange rocks that don't match the others. Meanwhile he also instructs the makers to devise some sort of wall system.

    Clarification
    ----------------------------
for people worrying about their tribes from the last super awesome tribal thread. this entire world is on a time line, and its all happening at once, so right now your tribes are just starting everything it is that you did in the last thread.
    -------------------------------------------------
To my lem brothers. it makes me happy, so happy that you have chosen the lem as your race. Let me give you a run down on them. They dont sleep, so they can do something all the time. They dont mate, but they can exchange genetic material between a pair or more right before they divide. Lem divide, just like a giant amoeba. Lem are berserkers and do that quite well. they dont die of old age, they just divide, and the genetic memory of the original is passed on to the two identical twins, over time they develop new experiences and become their own individuals. Lem can share genetic memory by voluntary exchange, or consuming other dead lem. Lem dont get sick, or poisioned very easily, the can purge their internal contents (Cytoplasm) by vomiting untill its all out of them, this leaves them withered and diminished for a while. They dont feel like any other species on the planet, pain has no meaning to them, but they will never appreciate the beauty of feeling the wind and sand, or the taste of good meat....no, the only sensations they know are the pressure of their claws and teeth as they break flesh, of euphoria in combat. they cannot ever be telepathic, or anything complicated by that. They have their own host of issues, but its up to you to give the lem identity.
    -------
finally, i leave you with the most recent lem template. The Ta'Mirel will be waiting for you in a few hundred years (in game time)

Little bit more background, I guess, for bumping purposes.

The Zahrewi believe that in ages past, during the First Freeze, the entire world was covered with ice. Under thick glaciers, the land slumbered, forced into hibernation by the intense cold. Then, one day, the land stirred in its sleep, and cracked the thick layer of ice, allowing sunlight to seep down to the earth. This awoke the earth, and with a great rumbling crash the ice fell away and melted, forming the great seas. Life sprang forth from the awoken plains, but only the Lem remembered in their deepest dreams the Frozen Time, and they watch and wait for the Second Freeze to claim the land at the end of times.

I realized that, in my haste, I added Serf and Farmer to the list of professions when society and tech levels haven't advanced sufficiently to allow either. My apologies.

A new tribe of Koburrog emerges! The Fire mane. They claim point H as theirs, and dream of conquest of all the lesser races. They are a genetic throwback to a much harrier Koburrog. Hence the Mane. They live in the volcanic glass fields and believe in the fire spirits that gave them life. Elaborating on the worm's memories and the suzumou.
The worms can store incredible amount of information within their brains. Hazuvaat that have been hosting a suzumou tribe for few centuries have already accumulated memories worth hundreds of lifetimes. They leech these memories and thoughts, both intentionally, and accidentally when the suzumou connect with their nervous-system.

Over time, these accumulated memories start to change the worm's own mind. Younger godworms, which only recently have started hosting the suzumou, are usually much more abusive towards their little worshipers. They see the creatures as tools, blatantly using them to further their own agendas, while being quite indifferent to the suffering it might cause within the tribe.
As the relationship between the godworm and it's tribe goes on, the worm grows more and more fond of the suzumou it hosts, as the acquired memories of the sentient wespars seep to the worm's own personality. Eventually, the worm and the tribe are as one in mind.

The normal suzumou memories and minds are only partially stored within the worm, through the brief neural contacts they make with the worm during their lives. The wormborn are a different matter. They aren't fed to the worm when they die as a sacrifice, they are instead absorbed back to the wormflesh, allowing the worm to regain and store their whole personalities and memories.
The worm can then recreate these useful servants by implanting their personality to a new wormborn, during the gestation.
These individuals are born with the full persona of their earlier incarnation, but more often than not, they start developing differently, as their experiences change them.

    Meanwhile:

Knixi rested within one of the many warm flesh pouches of the great Hazuvaat.
For the first time in her short life, she could be alone within these wast incubation chambers. So few had survived the death of their former host. Even fewer had followed Sadkha, when she and her sisters decided to look for a new worm, instead of pointlessly trying to save their dying god under the tons of stone and sand, exhausting themselves, until they too died, besides their god.

The few dozens that saw the madness of the rest of the Khun'zu-iaan tribe, and followed Sadkha to the desert are the only ones that remain. They took a new name, Zu-Nul, as their former tribe was no more.

They had almost started to disperse, when the call of the Hazuvaat was felt. Sadkha let them to this new god, and now they had a home again. An empty home. There were so few of them, that each of the Zu-Nul could take a flesh pouch for themselves. Knixi had done so. She was the youngest, of the survivors, too young to mate and lay eggs, as the adults had been fervently doing since they had settled.

She contemplated the fact that shortly, her newfound privacy would be a thing of the past, as soon enough, the chambers would be flooded with nymphs and even more larvae. The nectar glands of the chamber walls were already swelling. She resisted the urge to feed, as she didn't even know the name of the Hazuvaat. It was unthinkable to drink the godworm's nectar without addressing the Hazuvaat appropriately.
The blue patches of skin, indicating the place where the Hazuvaat's voice could be heard caught her eye, jet she dared not to even approach it. The elder sisters had been very distressed after talking with the godworm. Without a seer, the tribe is lost. The ways of the Hazuvaat are too poorly understood by mere mortal suzumou.

An egg? The Hazuvaat had laid an egg? She had never taken a part in the Hazuvaat-nul ritual.
She quickly stood up, and jumped to the air, her four wings easily carrying her in the air.
    "Come on then!"

"Good, you are finally here! This is a bad time for the Hazuvaat to bear a blessed egg. The Hazuvaat-nul ritual is not well remembered by any of us. Without a worm-seer to guide us, we could defile the holy child of the godworm! But the ritual must be conducted! It has always been so! If we leave it undone, the Hazuvaat might curse us, and abandon us!"

"You are the youngest! Tradition says, that the youngest is to take the egg to a high point, where one can see the rims of the desert, and present the Hazuvaat-nul to the Burning Eye in the Sky and to the desert, which will be the domain of the godworm's spawn. In doing so, the worm will bless us, and the Hazuvaat-nul will remember us when it becomes Hazuv, one of the great worms of the sand."

"You must do this, the preliminary rituals and blessings have already been done, you must now take the Hazuvaat-nul and finish the ritual!"

Without even asking if Knixi was ready, or understood her mission, Sadkha placed the egg, the child of the god, Hazuvaat-nul on her hands.

"Go child, and don't fail us."

As she approached the formation, the desert became ever rockier. There were no signs of life anywhere, other some tiny grass like plants growing between the rocks.

She flew atop the tallest of the rocks belonging to the formation, and raised the egg above her head. She could see the frail form of the Haz, the sandworm larva, as the sun shined through the egg.
She raised her voice and bellowed:
"Behold desert and the burning eye! I carry the Hazuvaat-nul! The child of god! The blessed spawn of the godworm, the great ruler of the desert! The ascendant has laid an egg! The blessed Haz that hatches from it will grow to rule this land and ascend to godhood, like her mother did! Behold world! The descendant of our lord! The Hazuvaat-nul!"

The alphas do not mind expanding so long as they continue to kill their prey and wield power over the others in the tribe.

While the alphas effectively rule the tribe, the eldest of these protozoans are shamanistic elders, holding the genetic memories of many generations of Lem. They provide spiritual sustenance in the frozen wasteland and interpret much of what they know for the rest of the tribespeople. They know they are somewhat alien to the rest of this world. They are completely unique in so many ways when compared to the wild animals, the varying plants. Even a rock may change in the howling frozen wind and countless caresses of snowflakes. But the Lem were always the same. This didn't make them special. It made the entirety of the world around them a quietly holy place. Everything should be respected, nothing should be wasted. IG, if you don't approve this, feel free to just ignore/retcon this.
I am just describing how I think that the houyi would react to the increased Gorrirog presence at their territory.

As the Hitangan tribe pushes deeper to the mountains and the obsidian fields, the native crest houyi become increasingly aggravated by these sturdy intruders that trespass their hunting grounds.
The Houyi start forming small patrols, that keep that try to keep their eyes on the gorrirogs, in case they try to intrude any deeper.

If the gorrirogs come too close for the liking of the houy, they will reveal themselves, screech at the intruders and alarm the rest of their pack by signaling them with their back crest. If they continue their approach, the houyi will shoot few warning shots, and screech even louder, which calls more of it's mates to it.
If the second warning isn't enough, the houyi will open fire, shooting foot long sand spines at 5 spines/second.

As the houyi are almost as intelligent creatures as the tribal species are, they know when to avoid conflict. If they see a large group of hostiles moving towards them, they will lay low, hide, and prepare an ambush, if they feel that they can't get away.

The crest houyi aren't as aggressive as their bigger cousins, they are just very territorial. They hunt the jet wespars that swarm over the obsidian fields for the thermal winds they generate. They are very unlike to actually attack aggressively, unless they have absolutely no other way to get food for some reason.

The scouts in the oasis find out that the aquatic usmals, which have adapted to evade the ever present gill worms, are easy to catch, as they aren't expecting the attack to come from above. The Zu-Nul find the gillworms quite fascinating. To them, it is clear that even the water is the domain of the great Hazuvaat. As the Suzumou are carnivorous, the plant life of oasis doesn't interest them that much. They do note the strange lights the blue cho plants seem to emit. The scouts are anxious to report their findings, especially about the gill worms to the tribe.

The plains scouts haven't jet reached their destination, as unfavorable winds forced them to ground. They continued by foot, but they are still a couple of days away from the edge of the desert.

Hunting for an expanding group is time consuming, and it doesn't help that the betas of the tribe are cautious about distancing themselves from the hunters. The alphas decide to send some of their number to help the expansion and find a way to gather the fish that are plentiful in the south. They try using primitive drags at first that are made out of tree branches that will scare and force fish into shallower waters where they can be speared.

The gatherers collect a decent amount of ice to take back to the tribe, but the going is tough and some of the ice is lost on the way. The gatherers and the makers meet to devise a way to carry ice and other stuff more effectively, and it is at this meeting the young craftsman who takes the name Gweyhydd proposes his idea of weaving the plants together. The alpha beast-stalker and his two trusted companions learn how to stay on their mounts, and a few of the stalkers follow soon after. Many remain skeptical or distrustful of the large creatures, though.

The Hitangan see many attacks by the houyi as they expand their territory. Losses are a great disaster to the tribe, who see each individual as a valuable contibutor and valiant warrior.

Eventually, the Hitangan use their craft to make large carapace shields. This allows them to withstand a modicum of the houyi's firepower during their hunts. Many of the predators here use some sort of projectile, so these thick shields are a blessing. Soon the Ancients decide that the housing too may soon come under attack. Unfortunately the only source of fresh carapaces are the houyi, and hunting them is dangerous on any day. Sandworms are too difficult to find, and the largest ones are literally teeming with suzumou. The Ancients know better than to piss off an entire tribe. This means that fortifying the village with anything other than rocks is a no go.

So in their lack of resources they turn back to what they have always known. the earth. The rocks they had such a hard time figuring out before now have years of knowledge behind them. Gorrirogs learn to crush the rocks and extract the metals.

That one fateful day. Collecting metals had been a thing of pride to the Hitangan. the metals would decorate their homes, and some of the gorrirogs would make crude jewellry out of the minerals and vines.

Then one day an upset juvenile stole their rivals metal and cast it into the fire. The mature hitangan ushered their juveniles away, and when the fire died down, something interesting was discovered. The metal had melted and pooled at the bottom of the fire pit. Naturally, some tried to repeat this effect and eventually discovered the malleability of the metal. Alphas and Ancients immediately thought of the potential, and began crafting spears similar to the projectiles that the houyi use.

The difference now is that gorrirogs can innately project electricity through these spears. This proves to be very valuable and only the strongest warriors amongst the Hitangan are granted the use of the spears.

She was suddenly jolted from her sleep, or what passes for it for the Suzumou. Reverberations through the ground warns her that a group of creatures are coming. Quickly, she grabbed the Hazuvaat-nul, and hovered quickly toward the general direction of the oasis. Behind her, a crested Houyi hunting group had seen her, and prepared to sneeze a rain of shards at her. But Knixi is young and nimble. Using timed dodges and faked movements, she managed to evade most of them.
    Emphasis on most.
She lost three wings, and her left leg only had two segments now.
But she kept the Hazuvaat-nul safe.
Even though her strength waned for a while, she pushed on, and by daybreak she reached the edge of the oasis. Under a fallen kaskus tree she found the perfect place for the Hazuvaat-nul. She carefully and devoutly buried the Hazuvaat-nul, and then turned around and went towards the direction of the sun, bleeding purple ichor that is her people's blood.
She never returned to the embrace of Zhen'qual.

This drove the smaller of the tribe to hide dressing in leaves and bones etc., some to attempt to dig into the ground. making small pits to seek shelter from the rage. Others riot torching everything in their way adding to the chaos, this in turn teaches the Fire Mane what burns best. Confused Koburrogs trip over holes, disguised cowards and more. falling into a flaming tent a lone koburrog runs screaming thru the encampment, wrapped in burning tent material. The others see this and think it is a fire spirit, despite their reverence for fire spirits they all club it to death, shrieking in terror. By the time the chaos is over there is no encampment left. Well, seeing that both IG and NG seem to be away right now, I might as well update this.

The two scouts manage indeed to attract something. Their call was soon responded with vibrations that indicated the movement of an average sized worm from the south. As the vibrations got closer however, the suzumou noticed something weird in them. They reminded them of typical sandworm vibrations, but at the same time, there were strange discrepancies that they were unfamiliar with.

When the vibrations reached their position, it was clear that whatever they had called, was not a sandworm.
They managed to jump in the air, just as a hungry landworm burst from the sand.
The landworm do not recognize the suzumou as their allies, and thus, the ravenous creature lunges at the two flying suzumou, who curiously examine the strange worm that heeded their call. Their curiosity turns into horror, as their illusion of being out of the worm's reach is broken swiftly, when the worm hurls it's pincher tipped tongue at one of them.

The worm grabs a firm hold, and one of the scouts is dragged to the depths of the desert.
The remaining one panics and starts madly flying towards it's home.

The hunting group manages to spot the looming threat in time, as the houzi start opening fire towards them. They manage to dodge the worst of the fire, fleeing with only one casualty and few more serious wounds among minor cuts and holes in their wings.

The food is stored, AND IT IS THE BEST GODDAMN DRIED MEAT EVER! The nymphs who will spawn from the wormgod's flesh soon will always fondly remember their first meals of this dried meat, and then woe the fact that they will never taste something as delicious again.

The journey to the forests takes longer than expected. Dusk sets in as the Lem enter the forest. They mutter to each other that their journey is not off to a good start. By the time they make camp the forest is alive with strange sounds. It is clear they are not alone. Though the Lem do not sleep they do have lapses of consciousness and during one of these one of their mounts is stolen from them. Whatever took their mount was quick, silent, and deadly. Come daybreak neither Lem wants to precede further, or lose another steed. They gather a few frilla fruits and leave towards home.

Meanwhile at the home stead the shaman makes progress on developing a language. It is not perfect but some of the other Lem can understand what he is doing.

The gatherers set out and find almost too much food to bring home. They return with a few Green Houyi hides. One of the gatherers also returns with reports of strange creatures with huge humps on their backs. Similar to the houyi but different as well.

The Warden greets the three hunters and listens to their story intently. Though he is disappointed the first expedition failed, he acknowledges that Beast-Stalker Cierw made the right decision. After seeing the bounty that the gatherers have returned with, the clan celebrates with an impromptu bonfire. Much rejoicing and telling of tales occurs, and only a few are harmed in the revelry. After looking at the green hides which the hunters acquired, Maker Gweyhydd is struck with inspiration. He takes a shard of bone and a long strand of fiber, and attempts to attach two small pieces together to make a larger one. The hunters, hearing of the huge humped beasts, form a small mounted hunting party to investigate. The Makers weave the hunters a thick rope to lasso the creature, but if they cannot capture one to bring back, then they will kill it and take as much as they can back to the clan. The young shaman continues to devote time to his sound-shapes.

Yo Nad! Fancy showing the Gorrirogs some love? I know you're busy and all but I'd love a bit of narrative for these >>18884714
    >> Alpha Gorrirog 04/27/12(Fri)13:50 No.18885276
Ah crap, just realised you're not the DM. My bad!

The hunting party return with a modest amount of food. Enough for the tribe if they remain the same size. Meanwhile the shaman attempts to contact the old ones but hears nothing. Perhaps the gods are gones, or still slumbering.

The plant tastes funny but seems to do nothing strange to the Gorrirog. However, the youngling does seem to be growing up a bit faster than his similarly aged youngling.

Fuck yeah plant roids! The youngling Gorrirog is now addicted to squats, oats and browsing /fit/.

On a more serious note though, I'll continue when another DM turns up

Should we make a new thread, or wait for IG or NG to do it?
    >> Zahrewi Lem 04/27/12(Fri)14:08 No.18885433

Wait for IG or NG. It'd be pretty presumptuous of us to start a new thread when neither of the DMs are here
    >> Ry'lai 04/27/12(Fri)14:10 No.18885448
I think I'd be ok waiting for them to post a new one. Though I find it fun its hard to get really into it when we're doing our own narration. Even if we have a 3rd story teller step up.

That was kinda what I thought too.
    Hopefully they return tomorrow.
Btw, did falc disappear or did he just change his name?

I think Deus, TheBrowser, Amee(pusmal guy) and Falc all disappeared once self narration started going on.

I just want our DMs back :c

I think that is just because they had other things to do. Besides, I don't even recall facl making a tribe.
The last post I remember from him was in the normal evo thread.

I could start a separate evo game at creature-level to pass the time with, if you're interested?
I'll just need a few minutes to draw some monsters and a setting.

Well, I have some time to kill, so why not?
When the new tribal thread starts I will be focusing on it off course.

    Sounds fun.

If anyone wants it, Aether put his email up in his old threads.
