You are Elesh Phryx, rogue techpriest and captain of the Sword class frigate 'Sword of the Omnissiah'. Dark Eldar forces are currently staging a raid upon the pleasure world of Aquari, where you were relaxing with most of your officers upon a pleasure yacht with two of your fellow privateer captains. Having attempted to hold the attacking xenos with little success, you changed your plan to an argueably more time-honored pirate tradition: repossession. With the xenos transport secured, your officers and remaining handful of yacht crew recover what items they can from the fallen xenos. The corpses are soon cast from the hovering transport, save for the one you stabbed in the throat. Some part of you wants to keep such a pristine xenos corpse, though your cogitators can't quite understand the reasons at the moment. As Julin and Advi muster a pair of yacht crew to man the craft's weapons, you spare a glance to the sever securing herself and Athe to the Raider's deck. Advi stumbles as she moves to inspect the gun mounted upon the Raider's prow; one of her augmented legs must have been damaged from her leap onto the craft. The vox transmitter upon Teris' back crackles to life with the voice of Magos Taylor. "We'll secure transport when you make your move, Elesh. The crazy plans always seem to work, don't they?"

    >you are currently inside a beach area within the yacht, with an opening to the sea to your left. You can see no additional enemy transports, but nearly a dozen were counted as they closed.
    >engage enemy transports?
    >distract by fleeing?

Right, we have one of their transports and the others are not in sight. Right now, I think that ourbest bet would be to keep head for Taylor, have them take over another one of the eldar transports and then, depending on the number of eldar vechiles in the vicinity, either fight them or run away.

your captured transport is currently quite cramped with the ten of you and the xenos corpse. Additional bodies may adversely effect the craft.

Also, your suggestion is to link up with Magos Taylor and Captain Wilson?

    >>18657846

You have already (you think) deciphered the craft's basic controls, though you doubt that anyone besides yourself or Advi could pilot the xenos craft effectively.

"Advi, take up a weapon and put your cogitators to work. We're going to engage the skimmers outside."

The techpriestess takes up the weapon to your left, her mechadendrites extending to steady her form as you bring the captured craft around. With the prow pointed toward your exit, you press the twin throttles forward smoothly. The raider's prow raises slightly as the whining engines violently drive the craft across the waters of Aquari, the sudden wind throwing your robe's hood back from your head. Hair whips around the heads of your impromptu crew as dark bolts of energy lance toward the trio of xenos craft lingering near your location. Julin's shot strikes home, her target shuddering and crashing into the sea as the engines fail. Advi's shot also strikes it's target, slagging the craft's prow and killing the lone gunner there. The yacht crewman takes a moment longer to line up his shot, but his efforts pay off as his target explodes spectacularly, sending a ball of unnatural flame a solid thirty meters into the blue skies of Aquari.

Attempting to turn toward the pleasure yacht's prow, you nearly lose control of the craft as it passes over a wave at an odd angle. With the sudden turbulence, your gunners prove ineffective at engaging a few dozen xenos as they chase down a handful of the yacht's crew upon the main deck. Thankfully, their cries of agony are nearly drowned out by your craft's engines. Within moments you've rounded the yacht's prow to find two xenos raiders lingering a few dozen meters from the ship, while a pair of raiders and a heavy version like your own unload another wave of xenos warriors. Dark smoke billows from several locations along this side of the yacht, obscuring the main deck from your view.

The raiders lingering away from the yacht suddenly accelerate to run parallel to your craft, large splinters of crystal shattering against the armored sides of your craft. Your own gunners duck as thousands of shimmering fragments fly about them, sending their initial shots wide. One of the heavy raider's gunners returns fire, a dark lance of energy piercing your craft's armored sides. The crewman on your gun glares daggers at the xenos that nearly ended his life, taking aim at his newest target. His shot flies true, carving a bloody path thru the xenos gunner and several others still upon the heavy raider. Julin is again pinned by a cloud of crystal fragments, but Advi manages to deliver a glancing strike to one of the offending raiders as they pass your craft.

Glancing back as you pass the unloading trapsorts, your attention is momentarily drawn to a glinting figure as it falls from the smoke-enshrouded third deck of the pleasure yacht. The figure slams onto the foredeck of the rearmost xenos transport, sending bodies flying as the craft pitches violently in response to the sudden impact. Tiny objects fly from the figure's outstretched arm as stunned xenos warriors are cut down in a bloody swathe across the craft, while mechadendrites finish off a pair of supine xenos at the figure's feet. A series of deep, joyful grunts drifts over the sea, barely audible over the sounds of battle and your own craft's whining engines. The heavy raider and remaining xenos raider are soon engulfed in flame as improvised firebombs smash upon their decks, covering the figure and its new raider in a protective shroud of black smoke.

"We've secured transport, Elesh! Can you draw the others away while we transfer wounded?"

You bring the raider about in a harsh turn, the deck rolling to nearly a fourty-five degree angle as you compensate for the forces exerted by your maneuver. Your gunners quickly bear down on their still-turning targets, but fail to score any hits at the extreme range. Moments later the xenos gunners respond, one shot reducing your unnamed gunner's upper body to a shredded mess as crystal shards tear his flesh from bone. Julin and Advi again miss their marks, ducking as another volley from their targets cuts down the other yacht crewman as he moves to replace his friend, though this one survives the trauma long enough to shriek as the xenos poison courses thru his veins and kills him. As you again pass the xenos raiders, Advi's third shot sends the trailing craft tumbling across the sea as it disintigrates with each impact. Bringing your craft about once more, you note that the xenos craft is fleeing toward a new group of raiders as they clear the pleasure yacht's stern.

"We'll head to the resort North East of here. Any cover is good cover, and if we're lucky they'll want to recover their forces instead of chase us."

Your craft nearly topples as you tighten your turn into a circle and fail to anticipate the additional centrifugal forces. As your craft nearly drifts into a rising swell, you drive both engines to their maximum output. Though your crew is forced to catch themselves, your liberal application of throttle corrects your course and fortunately sends you rocketing toward the pleasure yacht's prow with Magos Taylor's raider hot on your stern. For nearly an hour you run the engines at full throttle, xenos craft attempting to gain upon your own as you head toward the nearby settlement. Eventually they give up the chase, turning back toward the pleasure yacht and the hundred or so souls left behind. With a shudder, you force thoughts of their fate from your cogitators. Teris takes the reprieve as a sign, tuning the vox transmitter upon her back to the local emergency frequency.

"People of Aquari, resist! The God Emperor will grant victory to those who raise up in arms against the vile xenos! Let your faith be your shield, your hatred your weapon! Purge these invaders from our glorious planet in the name of the Emperor and his Imperium!" The recording drones on about the natural superiority of humanity and how the most humble of humans is a match for these cowardly, weak xenos invaders. Before the recording can loop, your mechadendrite has extended to silence the propaganda. All eyes aboard the raider suddenly turn to you, causing your mechadendrite to once again conceal your face with your robe's hood. As your cogitators try to compose some sort of motivational speech, Magos Taylor's voice comes across the vox, granting you a moment to gather yourself.

"Elesh, we should change course. If they called in our course, we might be ambushed by other raiders. Perhaps we should contact the PDF and see if they can contact our ships in orbit. Captain Wilson's man will need to reach a medicae facility soon."

you lack the equipment to send a communication into orbit. The yacht had such equipment, but your crews were scrambling to deal with a problem in orbit, likely xenos ships. You'll either need to locate a transmitter capable of reaching orbit, or get relayed to orbit by such a station. PDF bases and major population centers would have such stations/transmitters.

A quick scan of the usual military vox channels results in little more than a single garbled transmission, likely a signal beyond the transmitter's effective range. Looking to the trio of servers, you question them on the locations of nearby medicae facilities. "All of the PDF bases have good ones. Several resorts on the larger islands to the North have their own, as well." Your craft scream due Northwest for hours, wind once again whipping at the clothes and hair of your crew as you fly across the crystal waters of Aquari. Just as the island comes into sight, the skies and waters of Aquari burn as a massive, elongated fireball streaks above your heads. Get our bros to come join us so we can check the buildings for survivors/valuable. If the medical facilities are still operational, see if we can help the wounded man.

Don't signal our ship yet, though. The DE are bound to home in on that signal, so we should wait until we're about to leave to send it out.

Big deal, we can probably turn two of them into one tank and spare parts. Same goes for everything else that's on fire.

your arvus lighters are -barely- capable of loading a chimera transport. A Russ tank is unfortunately too large for them to manage.

Also, Privateer Quest has taken over Commander Quest's timeslot until further notice. When Commander Quest returns from hiatus, we'll likely return to irregular days.

    NEW Privateer Quest Days:
    Tuesdays & Thursdays @ 7:30-8:00 PM, EST.
There is also a chance of threads on Sundays at the same time, to be announced on thursdays.

    problem:
to canibalize parts, you need to have a full set of parts available.

burned out hulls likely all lack certain key parts.

Really? I didn't think even one would fit, I thought that Taylor and Wilson have a bigger transport or that they know someone who does.
And, if we don't have access to bigger transports, we can always dissasemble them right here and move them in parts.

I am having trouble hearing this over the sound of selling spare leman russ parts. Or we could try to buy the ones we lack. Or manufacture them ourselves if it is avalible to us

I do believe that you're underestimating the difficulty of converting a burning tank into manageable parts for shipping. At least if you want to actually put it back together!

I'll have a list of recoverable vehicles for the next thread.

I'm sorry, could you repeat that? I couldn't hear you over the sound of Official Imperial Attention.
