    >first thread instantly autosaged! (as did the second!) Third and final try. the d6 roll from the previous thread is in use.

You are Elesh Phryx, rogue techpriest and captain of the Sword class frigate, 'Sword of the Omnissiah'. Having completed your business in the Tortuga system, you escorted a small convoy to the pleasure system of Labado. Lingering only long enough to exchange your meager cargo for a pair of arvus lighters, you soon set course for Saregin's Path and the rumors of a massive space hulk within the system. With your decimated crew recovering from the aftermath of a deamonic incursion, your cogitators finally decided the time was right to confront your XO and friend, Athe, about the strange events you've noticed around her.

    >last time, on Privateer Quest

"Canoness Laci giving you personal care. The silver chain around your neck when you returned from the hospitallar medicae. A blinding flash of light protects you from a deamon's attack. The logic is sound, Athe. Do I need to know what possessed a Canoness to give a scum from Tortuga a holy relic?"

"I'm," Athe's gaze falls to the floor, presumeably locking upon the strange bolt that you too find mysteriously interesting. "I'm not from Tortuga, Elesh"

    >I'll need a D100 roll if you wish to doubt your XO's words and confession. (High is bad!)

Quein would make a capable XO, and thus be able to fill any roll that isn't tech related. Basically, he's a generalist. Armswoman Julin and Techpriestess Advi are both specialists.

"I don't remember where I was born. Grew up in the schola progenium, so I knew from the start that my parents were dead, everyone's parents are dead. It didn't matter where or how, they were all dead. Some had keepsakes, trophies their parents had left them. I had nothing but their taunting, that my parents died cowards or how they died as tortured heretics." Athe's body trembles slightly, the raw warp energy's proximity during the incursion undoubtably eating at her mind as she struggles to maintain her composure during this confession to you. Believing her ability to remain standing questionable and with the subtle grace that only a follower of the Omnissiah can deliver, you coarsely reposition your XO so that she sits on the edge of your bunk before giving her a nod to continue.

"Th-thank you, Elesh." Your friend's face burns red as your cogitators conclude that her shame has increased due to your actions. "I hated them, so I prayed to the Emperor for help. They kept mocking me, so I looked to the sisters and fathers. Then to my fists. None of it worked, Elesh." The trembles slowly turning to soft convulsions and small gasps for air as her flesh brain loses its battle to supress her emotions amid the trauma caused by the gellar field's failure.

Unfortunately for Athe, your cogitators are resistant to your flesh brain's empathy and still demand the answers Athe has yet to produce. "Why did the canoness care for your wounds directly? Why would she gift you a holy relic? Are you a danger to my ship and crew, Athe?"

The convulsions stop for a moment as your XO's body seems to shrink into the object she clenches tightly beneath her clothing, your eyes again noting the fine silver chain around her neck. "No. It was her's." Tears streak down Athe's face, dissipating into tiny rivulets as portions are diverted along the dozens of scratches that cover her flesh. Your cogitators still are not satisfied, noting their inability to read Athe in her current state, but your flesh brain is vehemently protesting any thought of pushing your friend farther along this course.

Your flesh brain seizes control from your cogitators, ordering your arms to envelope your friend and comfort her with compassion as your cogitators scoft at the weakness it presents. Athe's face is quickly burried into the tattered remains of your robe, her tear-stained cheeks wet and warm against your shoulder as she babbles an incoherent mixture of apologies and stories. Attempting to draw upon the trials of your own youth, your flesh brain quickly notes that even it does not understand the trials of the machine cult that you struggled to overcome. Instead, your voice softens as you attempt to redirect Athe's mind. "Who is Canoness Laci to you, Athe?"

Slowly, an answer makes its way thru the incoherency, sharply punctuated by gasps for air and long pauses. "A friend, of my mother. It was her's." You spend the better part of an hour attempting to soothe your friend with the warmth of your flesh body, her exhausted mind and body finally collapsing after a final confession is muttered into your shoulder. "My name is Athenia."

With great care your utility mechadendrites remove Athe- Athenia's blood-stained clothing as your medicae mechadendrite dances about to assess her wounds. With great care it cleans the minor wounds that cover her body, the spirit flooding your cogitators with information that you do not fully understand. Lacking any spare clothing to redress your friend, you opt instead to shroud her form with a fine silk sheet that you retained from your winnings at Garin's. Noting the elevated body temperature of your XO, you also apply a light blanket to shield her from the chill that typically fills your quarters.

Stepping out of your quarters, you quickly locate Voidsman Quein and promote him to acting Voidmaster until he dies or you locate someone better. He thanks you profusely before informing you that the ship is clear of any detectable warp entities and that the dead crewmen are ready for burial in the void once the ship leaves the warp.

Sword of the Omnissiah tears back into reality upon the edge of Saregin's Path nearly two days after your warp journey began. Setting course for the space hulk is a simple process, Quein simply setting course for the small planetoid that doesn't belong within the gravity well of the twin stars. Enginseer Advi's teams quickly have the areas destroyed by the warp's influence repaired, discarding large margins into the void to ensure the taint is removed. The void burials of your casualties is kept simple, though the reverant tone improves the crews flagging morale quite well.

Hours pass as your augers probe the space hulk, the number of surrounding ships quickly rising into the dozens as other captains seek fortune within the moon-sized amalgum of celestial debris and ancient ships. Though several competing factions are noted surrounding the massive hulk, no ships are actively engaging in battle, though several appear to be acting as pickets. Quein's voice breaks the awed silence of your officers as you all stare at the auger displays, "They've likely called a truce for the time being, deploying pickets to detect the navy when they show up."

Have your Master at arms group them into combat units, with a second group of 1000 ready to deploy under your master if a fight breaks out and a situation gets hairy.

The remaining 2000 should be used by the second to inject into any situation she deems necessary. Her wounds are troubling and she should be in charge of ships defenses.

to get them used to working together, mostly

start by sending armsmen into the hulk and establish a base camp of sorts in there - a point with hvy weapon emplacements we can retreat to if we need to. Then, we can take more armsmen and officers on expeditions into the hulk.
have the astropaths scry on the hulk and make sure to scan everything before moving forward, we don't want to run into a trap.
we can personally go explore the hulk along with armsmen and commanding officers once the base is set up
and, try to take an astropath in there too, their sensing abilities could come in handy in there. promise them a share of the loot if it's not covered in their contract

The sight of your former allies exploring near eachother holds your attention on the auger display, drawing your attention to a small crater upon the hulk's massive surface. "That isn't a crater, Magos-Captain" Advi modifies the auger definitions, providing a slightly clearer image upon the display. "It seems to be an opening to the interior, the rock is simply packed, not solid." The site is located within five kilometers of both Wilson and Taylor, providing you with some sense of security should you encounter something unexpected. "Set course for that site, Voidmaster. I have hailing to do."

"Magos Taylor is currently unavailable, Captain, but I'll inform him of your presence immediately. May the Omnissiah bless your search." Magos Taylor's second is quick to cut communications with you, though there was a sense of excitement in the white noise accompanying his message. They must have chanced upon quite a find to cause such an event on the Magos' ship. Captain Wilson is less excited when contacted, however. "We ran into a settlement of orks within the hulk and were forced to retreat. It is good to see you again, Captain Phryx. We'll likely be relocating to a new site once our remaining armsmen are aboard ship. I will be glad to assist you if needed, though neither Magos Taylor or I are keen to linger once the navy comes to break up this little party."

Authorise Advi to take one battalion to check the engines. Athe will stay in command of Delta and stay in reserve. Julin will secure and hold the base camp. Alpha goes with us to the bridge

    Sounds good.

2 batallions, Advi's and ours, will search the ship. Julin will secure the base camp with her team. Quein and batallion Delta will remain on standby on the Sword in case something should go wrong so they can provide help quickly.

First Officer Athe will coordinate the batallions and facilitate communications between them. We should remind her that she's the captain while we're away. Might help improve her mood a bit.

It will take 12 hours to search the ship with only half of your armsmen.

If the navy or hostiles show up before you can recover anything of value, you may leave here empty handed.

    confirm your orders?

yes, confirm. if they encounter resistance, either fall back to the base camp and prepare an ambush or send the group in reserve to help out.

    >Nice to see you got your ban removed. Did you get an answer to the autosage problem as well?

Ah, okay. I assumed even partial exploration would net us something.

In that case, have Quein explore the ship as well.

If possible, offer the crew the chance to volunteer to search already secured parts of the ship for extended leave when we hit shore leave the next time we're in port. Or whatever they're interested in.

If we can get the engines on this thing running, would there be any place to hide it in this system?

the navy will eventually arrive, but you have no way of knowing when or with how much force.

    >>18388711
no answers, luckily the ban expired at midnight (the ban was for 'linking to referal sites', lolwut?)

partial exploration can net you things, but only what your armsmen can carry or drag themselves. Anything larger will require you to either locate a transport or lifter to move, or require that you disassemble it into moveable chunks. Basically, anything that is larger than a heavy weapon will require additional time and energy to remove (including things like suits of power armor, functioning or not)

The crew may accept such an offer. you'll need a second on it, though.

in theory, yes. You would have to free it from the space hulk, though.

Yeah, that's the message you get when the wordfilter hates some part of your post.

    >Crew
If they agree, have Julin coordinate them from the base camp.
Our crew's security is paramount, pull them back if there's any trouble. The armsmen signed up for this, the crew didn't.

Taking the ship with all the stuff on it might be more efficient than taking the stuff on the ship and transporting it back to the sword.
Tell Advi to keep that option in mind when inspecting the engines.

agreed, although the problem with this is that we would have to cut even a bigger hole to the hulks hull to get it out and that would take a lot of time and organization
