Back home. Client insisted on bringing back the corpse, so it took longer to get back home.
Anyway, as reward I got 220 pien and an amulet. He said it wards of evil spirits, but I cannot see any magical enchantments, so bleh.

Oh, I think Nxisa has finally returned. Should I tell her about my little adventure or just leave it be? She might still be little down, so I am not sure how she would react.

    >Tell her, man. This is kinda of important :V
    >Tell her about it while thrusting your hips inappropriately.

    >"Oh hey Daniel..."
"Guess who just killed a mountain troll!"
    >"You did what...?"
I think she is little drunk.
"Signed up for small quest to locate a lost brother. Found a mountain troll and half-eaten corpse instead."
    >"... Damn it Daniel. Don't take tasks alone. You are still a rookie. You might get killed!"
"Relax, it all went smoothly. He couldn't even land a blow!"
    >"Daniel, I am serious. I don't want you to take a task from someone and then get killed by who knows what. Consult me first. Always."
    "... Okay."
    >"But I am happy to hear how well you did. Mountain trolls are serious business. You are... promising."

    ...

    >"Anyway, I thought about getting us some money. So I went and looked for some... missions. Trouble with kobolds, some elementalist went insane, some cultist of Edel have taken over a building nearby the city, some undead disturbance nearby... You get to pick. Consider it my reward for performing well."

    -----

    >Well, the elementalist and cultists sound like they're up your alley. Let's do the cultist.
    >agree

    >"Sure. Just go to sleep and shoo em' away tomorrow."
    "Shoo? Not kill or anything?"
    >"Yaawn- I'll explain it to you... there. It's not that complicated. It will pay well tho. Good night."
    "Where did you disappear today?"
    >"Went drinking and had a quick screw. Good night Daniel."

    Slept well.
As for our task; it is simply to shoo away all cultist from old abandoned Church of Sun. Which strikes me as bit weird. I asked Nxisa:

    >"... Well eh, taking over abandoned building is not a crime itself. However, there are two things: they are Cultists of Edel. Edel is considered false god by Church of Sun and many other religions. Edel was a powerful man with strange powers, but still only a man. Second thing is that this building is still considered somewhat holy. Cultists are disgracing it with their presence."
    "Who is Edel?"
    >"Edel? Damn, I don't remember too well actually. Some Zere-era human who was supposedly sealed to hell as punishment for breaking into gods' domain. Nenonen mentioned him once on the airship, something about him. Cannot remember what it was."
"Uh, so, do we even have to resort to violence?"
    >"Well, probably. They probably don't want us inside. Unless we can talk our way through."

    Hm, what do?

    ---

    >Dan, you talk to the guy at the side of the church. Introduce yourself, tell him that you're from out of town, appear curious about what this place is. That way you can cover for waht nxisa's doing. Besides, you look like a dumb kid, which is not a bad thing, and keep the guy's attention on you. Nxisa, goes to the other side of the church and takes a peek into the church. let's see what we can see in there.

I suggest Nxisa to scout and spy through windows while I have a little chat with the cultist.

    "Hello!"
    >"... Who are you. What are you doing here."
"I am from the city, and I was just very curious about this place. So I came to look."
    >"It's a church, yes. Soon it will be the first shrine dedicated to honored Lord Edel."
    "Ah."
There is long awkward silence. I think she is a mage.
    >"Have you heard of honored Lord Edel?"
    "Um, yes."
    >"Good, good. You can ask master to join our religion if you want. I can let you in."
He does seem to be bit annoyed by my presence, but seems like he can answer some of my questions.
    ---

    >Well, ask her about the church and the religion. What do you have to do and all that. If she gets angry or tries to pass you on to the leader, ask her what kind of magic is she using as you're curious since a friend of yours from the city is a counter-mage and has told you a lot of things about countermagic. (Its not lying. Its just not telling the entire truth)
    >Ask him about why they're using this church, as it's kind of weird using a church dedicated to a different god than yours. I mean won't that mess stuff up.

    "About the whole cult-thing."
    >"Circle of Edel."
"Yeah. What's it about? What kind of stuff you have to do? Why Church of Sun, isn't that already dedicated some of the sun gods?"
    >"Embrace all magic and wait for Edel's return. As for the church, we couldn't build a shrine in the city, so we decided to re-purpose an old church. It's abandoned after all. We'll get the symbol off this week."
    "Edel's return?"
    >"Yes. He is only sealed behind one million gates and walls, but they will crack in time."
"And embrace all magic? You are a mage then?"
    >"This world and all its living are together stronger than all gods together. We need to embrace that power. And yeah, I studied to become an enchanter. Got kicked out."
"... Nice scarf. Where did you get that?"
    >"Thank you. Got it from one of the tailors in the city. Could you go now, I am trying to read!"

I return to Nxisa. Two cultists inside, don't look too tough. They are trying to figure out what to do with the altar.
The upstairs is ruined. There is a shack connected to the church, constructed from wood. She guesses that it was built later on. She sensed more folk downstairs.

We both approach the cultist again.
    >Cultist: "You again? What is... now?"
"Why dont' you build a shrine right outside of the city? "
    >Cultist: "Because we are all pienless. And it is much easier and cheaper to use this church! I like this place already."
    >Nxisa: "This is still a sacred site."
    >Cultist: "An abandoned one! It's just better to repurpose it! You are making me really pissed now, bug off!"

She lets us inside so she can continue reading her book in peace. Inside we are met by three cultists. All three of them seem to be casters of some sort. The eldest one seems to be their leader, while other two are acting as bodyguards.

    >Leader: "Are you here to hear about honored Lord Edel?"
    >Nxisa: "No, we want you to leave this church. "
    >Leader: "And... why would we do that? Who are you even to demand these things?"
    >Nxisa: "This is still considered a sacred site by Church of Sun, so they want you to get out."
    >Leader: "Church of Sun can go kiss my ass. "
    >S. Bodyguard: "Ben, I think they are counter-mages. Their clothing and all..."
    >H. Bodyguard: "Counter-mages?"
    >Leader: "Ach, Church of Sun sent murderers after us?"
    >H. Bodyguard: "I think we should get rid of them. This place is property of honored Lord Edel right now."
    >Leader: "Let's just hear them. I am sure they can explain."
    >> Anonymous 03/07/12(Wed)07:37 No.18239503
Try and reason with them, we want to avoid bloodshed, they don't need this church, they can surely find other buildings.

Attempt REASON. Despite it being abandoned, the Church of Sun still finds this place to be important. Even if the cultists win now, actions taken against them will likely escalate. The Cultists seem like resourceful people, I'm sure they could make the money to build a shrine of their own.

    >Leader: "I think we can defend this place."
    >Nxisa: "You might. But don't try to underestimate the Church."
"You are all mages. Can't you like, get yourself a job from the city. Enchanter and whatever. Just build the shrine with your own money, okay? I am pretty sure Edel would appreciate that more than just taking a church belonging to other religion."
    >Leader: "... I guess you are right in that respect. Just... give us a day and we'll leave this place. Miracles bless us."
    >H. Bodyguard: "Man, I already unpacked my stuff..."

    >Nxisa: "I am surprised Daniel. This went very smoothly. We can get back to the city now. Once again you have earned your bonus."

I decide not to pester them, even about the whole Dark Archmage-issue. They probably know jackshit about his whereabouts. But Edel... name sounds oddly familiar.
But yeah, let's get home. I am pretty sure she can teach me bit more! Nxisa tells me I earned 180 pien, which makes my total 425 pien!
    ----------
And two weeks passed so quickly. I learned a new spell and finally learned how to cast slow fall properly ( 5 seconds ). The new spell is Barrier, which grants me bit extra-protection, especially against spells.
But overall, I cannot help but feel that she is bit keeping me down. Learning Counter-Magic is great but, I don't feel like staying here in Daciht. Maybe I should go to the city of magic; Jania. It's a long trip, but I think I have enough pien for it. Plus, I think there will be some human brothels there.
    Sigh.

    >"Oh, there you are!"

    >"Well, good news, I found ourselves a new task. We'll be destroying a small Draconian Camp in the mountains."
"A campt? Isn't that too risky?"
    >"Haha, we won't be alone. However, you can stay here if you feel like you are not ready for this kind of things. We'll leave at the evening. Go get some equipment if you will. I'm in bit of a hurry, so farewell for now!"

"And yes, I would like to enchant my armor. Can you enchant it to provide warmth when it's cold and cool me down when it's hot? By the evening if you can?"
    >"Sure, I think I can do that. How strong do you want it to be? Light would be 200 pien, heaviest would be 800 pien. Light helps little, while heavy can keep you comfortable pretty much anywhere. Is there a medium? Also, can we upgrade to heavy later if we get more money, building on the old enchantment? And will it keep us dry? If it won't keep us dry, let's get light and something to keep us dry. Also, is this cultist a lady? I can't tell if that's a breast or a shirt fold. If the cultist is a lady, flirt a bit. Yes, Jako ( enchanter/cultist ) is a she.

"Um, how about medium? And will it keep me dry? And can it be upgraded later on?"

It doesn't keep you dry, but the armor will dry fast thanks to the enchantment. And yes, it can be upgraded. But it can come cheaper to buy heavy rather than buying medium and then upgrading it."
    It's still quite a lot...
"Yeah. It is still itty bitty too much. I am pretty sure a beautiful satyr like you can offer me a small discount. Maybe slightly less, I dunno, 270 pien? I could pay the discount later, with pien or something else. "

Met up with the group, moved to the mountains as soon as we could. There are 16 of us.
The draconians are already resting. There are not many, but they are all capable fighters. Draconians are very capable fighters, though they are not bright. Our archers are going to take out the nightwatch. After that, warriors will charge and the elementalist will set the tents on fire. Nxisa's and my job is to stop their casters from casting anything.

If you do a recap in the next thread like you did in this one, it should keep it bumped long enough for players to start finding it. I've noticed lately that some QMs actually bump their threads; I find that annoying and I'm glad you did it this way instead.

The slow fall is success. I simply direct myself to the nearest edge, while my huge draconian friend hits the ground! Bam!
    Smashed!
He does not move anymore. Fuck you big draconian! I am the winner here! Oh well, even if he is alive, it will take him plenty of time to climb up. I should just fetch my pals and get back to the city.

[ Thank you for playing. I will continue this later. Probably next week, tuesday. Anyway, now this thread can serve as discussion thread. Feel free to ask questions whatever. Also reposting this because oh god the typos ]

The recap this time was because they kept moving the thread around. This is the third iteration of it, after it got moved to tgchan and back.

I know why. I'm just saying, I think it also serves a purpose in terms of getting players in without posting BUMP three times before players start posting.

I do agree that some form of recap would be nice, although I'd suggest skipping the minor parts and try to slim it down to the big three posts to copy-paste over. Would work great as a bump, and to refresh memory of people.

Maybe with an update on our inventory, enchantments, and spells.

A full recap would be nice, if only to see more of this great art.

Quick recap of story and Daniel's abilities here. Might repost this on new thread whatever.

Daniel, a blind orphan gets cured from his blindness by a mysterious man going by the name "Miracle Lord". To thank him, he leaves his home to learn magic.
In capital Joros of Joros, he becomes apprentice to satyr Nxisa, who teaches him counter-magic. After year of training, they defeat a rogue translator-necromancer and novice elementalist together.

Later on they move to Nxisa's homeland Daciht. Nxisa needed to participate in capture/kill of Dark Archmage Ingram who is seeking ancient flying fortress Xjaal. However, she told Daniel that they'd be only going there for work.
Their airship is however shot down by the passing Dark Archmage and his black dragon Gaia.
Daniel, Nxisa and other survivors continue the travel by foot. After long trip, they reach Daciht and hear that ambush was a complete failure and most of people participating had been killed by Gaia and Dark Archmage. Nxisa disappears to mourn her dead friends, while Daniel helps a local satyr to find his lost brother in the mountains. The brother was eaten by mountain troll whom Daniel kills in combat.

When Daniel gets back, he and Nxisa get job to shoo away some Cultists of Edel from abandoned church of sun. They manage to reason with the cultists, and no violence was involved.
After two weeks of training, Daniel and Nxisa participate raiding a draconian camp in the mountains. The raid is a failure. Nxisa gets seriously wounded by a huge draconian. However, Daniel manages to lure him and throw him off a cliff.

Well, I guess we should get climbing. A lot of people back at the camp should be in need of some healing magic.
