    54 KB Civ Thread #2 Voice of Reason-ish !fTZ7nIUxd2 02/16/12(Thu)04:19 No.17973055
Nearly a year has passed since the banishment of your people. You have survived and thrived, far from the corrupt rule of Zetharn, your home city. Since you confrontation with the Stout-Ones your people have learned a great many things.
With the first contact with the Dwarves, Horned Lizard has opened a gateway of Technology and knowledge. From the Dwarves The Reverent Brood have learned the ways of Iron. While unable to mold the substance yourself, the dwarves are proficient, providing any weaponry you request or need. In return they only asked for a share of your food, with your surplus of fish, this was not a problem. And your protection, if the need shant arise, the dwarves not being the most skilled of fighters.

Your people are now equipped with iron weaponry and technology. Your tribe has been cutting trees, with your iron axes, near the mountain for months. This lumber has provided you with the materials need to put more research into your rafts. You now have fishing boats. You have also been using vines weaved together from the forest for nets.

After long last you have discovered what happened to Swimmer-of-Lake. He was not eaten by some horrific monster. He had swam out, found an island, and was killed by an indigenous creature from said island.
    >> Voice of Reason-ish !fTZ7nIUxd2 02/16/12(Thu)04:20 No.17973059
A shrine for He Who Thirsts has been erected in you village, which has expanded greatly. The shrine has two parts.
The first being the actual shrine, where the blood offerings are made and your sacred weaponry is displayed. Your people have long since been using the advice of the dwarves to construct your homes and Shrines. The shrine is underground supported by Stone arches and reinforced with lumber. With He Who Thirst Holy Symbol, the bloodied spear, prominently displayed under the blare of torches. The glory of all battles are recorded on the Stone Arches.
The Second part, which is above ground, is the training arena. This is where your kinfolk hone their fighting skills in His name. The excel in the use of spear and claw, not needing the armor as the smooth skinned races do. That said, your people are still adept at the use of bow and arrow.

The Feathered Snake has her temple erected in the Mountains, and even has many Dwarven Followers. It consists of a large Dwarven constructed cave, with natural pillars. The Image of the Goddess, a giant serpent consuming an egg, has been carved from stone in the middle of the temple.

The fighting skills of your tribe have greatly increased, and with prayer to The All Father, your Council have learned the way of advance tactics, and sword play. This has come in quite handy, for many skirmishes with Humans have happened in the Western Mt. Range as of Late. No information on their strong hold.
Your people have stayed away from the Western Forest, many say it’s cursed. Giving it the name “The Forest of Moans”

The dwarves have become great friends to the Reverent Brood, however like all things I do not believe we should become dependent solely on their creations.

Let us improve our technology and learn the ways from which our dwarven friends forge these amazing iron weapons.

    >> Hissapol the Dream-scarred 02/16/12(Thu)04:32 No.17973124
I dreamed of fire again. This was not the fire that burns outside but the heat that we need to fill us. In this dream, I saw the arrogant Draypon and the foolish smooth skins, and I saw the fire in their blood. I saw how they abused this heat, how their arrogant minds took this gift from He Who Thirsts and turned into their foul little magics.

He Who Thirsts’s cunning and the Feathered Serpent’s wisdom made us better—purer even. We walk a path of humility where we prostrate before our parents gifts and let the heat enter us. We will not be tempted to abuse our wise and cunning parent’s gifts. For blood is power, and our power remains pure. We will remain reverent!
(Just a little fluff to explain why we can’t use magic.)

I go for C1. We can’t allow humanity to hide in the mountains and harass us at their leisure.

Our fighting style seeks to spill the blood our opponents, we should more thoroughly study the weak points of our enemies learn how they are put together so we can better take them apart to honor He Who Thirsts.

Now while our allies the dwarves provide a decent buffer against the humans of the mountains, I fear that our shrine to our mother goddess is severely at risk in its current location. I suggest we fortify the shrine with a stone wall; lest we incur the wrath of our mother for any human sacrilege that would occur. Plus a tower around the shrine would help alert us of any human raids.

..and perhaps something made from animals to carry such things more portably, they seem to be able to hold plenty of fluids in life, maybe there is some portion not eaten that we could fashion for that task as well.

The wisdom you speak with, on behalf of the Feathered Serpent, our feared mother, inspires me. For the plants our like us, in a manner. They too bloom in the heat. So it must be that their juices are like our blood and hold that heat. While they might not be enough satiate our great father's thirst, clearly they can be used to sate our own.

Collecting them is perhaps a sacred rite forgotten over time, a rite clearly reserved for the females of our tribe. So they could be gathered, bleed of their juices which hold the heat of our revered parents, and then stored on sacred ground. During great festivals, we can drink this blessed liquids and take their heat into our bodies.

But these are matters of the Old Ways, and I overstep my bounds.

You see too much mysticism in the everyday Dreamer.

The legends and tales, while true, are used today to guide us.
Fighting is something that please He Who Thirsts, but we do not fight out of piety.

Similarly, if the lizardwomen's tales speak of Feathered Serpent prizing berries, it does not mean that the gathering of them is a ritual, merely that we can consume them today, as she and hers consumed them in the past.

In fact, I believe in these times it is vital that we create a monumental tower to show to the races of this world for all time that these lands belong to the Reverent!

I propose we recruit our dwarven allies to construct a massive tower at our shrine the the mother goddess, a beacon to assert our authority on the land. A tower so grand that human and lizard will look upon it and fear what they must face.

It would require the entire tribe and our dwarf friends, but it will be a Wonder that will stand the test of time. Does any hold support of this idea!?

Yes their young would make perfect sacrifice to Coatliuitl. We would give her the taste of her once-children, and her gluttony will be focused on their brood and not ours. We would both gain her favor and direct her ire on them. Perfect.

In my opinion, the metal, however protective, would be a heavy burden to drag around on my person during travel, though the idea did come to me before, you can trust in that.

I would also be using said armor as a way to intimidate our foes, and to help the lizardfolk and dwarves come together, if not in entirety, at least as close allies.

Some would say so, but the fact that, instead of forging such armor, I instead slew a foe and so mercilessly used them to my advantage would at least chill future enemies, and possibly scare them into not bothering us in the first place.

It's less direct than ye lizardfolk may be used to, but there are many ways to look at any given situation.

Well my new friends, I'm afraid I can stave off sleep no longer.

For any future reference, my vote is for stamping out any rival lizardfolk presence in the area, converting young/eggs to the True Way, if possible, or going with the Blooded Midwife's suggestion if not.

When we can, I continue my suggestion for improving our knowledge of anatomy so that we can better bleed our opponents in combat.

Building-wise, I say we continue with our underground dwellings, going deeper with stone walls and solid roofing. Keeping the true size of our dwellings and villages a mystery to outsiders, with only a handful of structures above ground.

Your Shadow Scale blend into the Darkness of the night. Unnoticed by any enemy scouts. This is what they find.

your enemy has a camp of about 65 lizard folk most are equipped with the barbed axes, while some carry bows.
There are three ways of attack for your army and escape for your enemy.

The sun's come up and I should probably sleep also. If there's a thread tomorrow, I I hope it's not as late as this one because I usually go out and get annihilated on Thursdays. And Fridays... And Saturdays... I shot the OP an email, so I'll keep in touch though, guys.

    Coatlicue, btw.
    >> Ringed Tooth 02/16/12(Thu)08:15 No.17974535
Actually I've only been in /tg/ for about a week and i could have sworn you were doing something with 40k
    >> Captain Keyes 02/16/12(Thu)08:16 No.17974546

I'd say grab a more common name for general /tg/ browsing. Who knows, we might see each other in other threads!
    >> Ringed Tooth 02/16/12(Thu)08:17 No.17974558
    Shoot me a email zanbato613@hotmail.com
And if I do do more browsing with a name itll probably be Crown or something like that
    >> Captain Keyes 02/16/12(Thu)08:18 No.17974560

Hm.....Do you mean today, mayhaps? Seeing as this is my first time on in...months, I'd say, it'd have to be. Unless someone was using my name, of course. Would need a tripcode then, eheh.
    >> Ringed Tooth 02/16/12(Thu)08:20 No.17974569
I might have saw your name a couple days ago in a few threads maybe you do need a trip?
    >> Anonymous 02/16/12(Thu)08:20 No.17974570
I might do that. If you see someone named Castleburger around, it's probably me. I've been on /tg/ since it started and never once namefagged myself. Anyway, night guys.
    >> Captain Keyes !7hkRu2iZOg 02/16/12(Thu)08:22 No.17974582

Night, then. Putting up a tripcode now, hope that'll help in the long-run.
    >> Captain Keyes !7hkRu2iZOg 02/16/12(Thu)08:23 No.17974588

At any rate, I hope the person was doing me justice. If someone -was- impersonating me, I find that almost flattering. Almost.
    >> Captain Keyes !7hkRu2iZOg 02/16/12(Thu)08:31 No.17974634
I'm probably gonna continue lurking in other threads, but I'll keep this one open, in case you guys are still gonna be talking. If not, I'll be seeing you around.
    >> Kogi Rocbread, Lyon of Heraldry 02/16/12(Thu)08:43 No.17974708
Holy shit, I'm writing wonderfully now, Thanks to you oh mighty Armok. For you I'll be creating your godly mark for all of your blessed servants to use.

(that means you guys should make your own additions to his symbol, perhaps this creativity will appease him?)

also, OP I'm sending you an email!
    >> Captain Keyes !7hkRu2iZOg 02/16/12(Thu)08:45 No.17974726

Yeah, good bunch of people seem to have either gone to bed or are busy elsewhere, but I'm glad the paper is going well. Guess the god of blood has some tricks up his sleeve yet, eh?

On a side note, how much do you bet that OP gets 50 e-mails?

Hissapol the Dream-scarred here: just have to say that the ending was pretty cool. I still stand by my decision to duck the final fight though.
    >> Captain Keyes !7hkRu2iZOg 02/16/12(Thu)09:00 No.17974797

Yeah, but we got some pretty sick flags now, so it was a win-win! Plus, we have advanced technology as well, which is also nice.

oh yeah, hundreds even. I hope this one lasts.

I think I might color the bottom right one for the Shadow Scales, as an emblem for their sect of the tribe.
    >> Captain Keyes !7hkRu2iZOg 02/16/12(Thu)09:52 No.17975126
Meh, it was being annoying, though I might revisit it at a later date.

According to the chronicles of our people, we had named ourselves The Reverent in reference to our honoring of the Ways.

(or at least the one everyone liked at the end of the previous thread)
    >> Red Hardscales 02/16/12(Thu)13:28 No.17976805
After a much needed pilgrimage to rest and hone my fighting skills, I return to the village, eager to see what my kinsmen had accomplished in the time I was gone. Most things have pleased me greatly, but the attack on the human encampment in the mountains, I would say was a disgrace.

It seems as if the dwarves are our allies now. Dwarves are great at digging tunnels. Although it may have stalled the assault a bit, we should have had a tunnel strike route dug into the humans camp. If we would have appeared from the ground, in the middle of their encampment, I believe we would have had greater success.

Just my two cents, but in the mean time, I welcome all the new faces to the council. By the way, have we decided on a name for our tribe yet? I was looking over council notes, and did not find one.
    >> Blue Thinker 02/16/12(Thu)13:51 No.17977027
When Reason last called for a name, we all agreed with The Reverent.
or http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/17968729/#17972915 in the chronicle being carved into long-lasting stone.
Considering that representation of ones that we revere are on the wonderful banner, it will serve us well.

The most noteworthy battle with the humans was the one you helped plan before your pilgrimage,
Our recent battle was against other lizardfolk that ambushed us.

Bumping now that I'm awake after going to bed at 8am...never done that before while a civ...
    >> Red Hardscales 02/16/12(Thu)14:52 No.17977638
Yeah, just skimming through the chronicle to see what happened. Either way, I had noticed that one battle was in the mountains, and we should have made tunnels to mess with the people we were attacking.

The Reverend is a proud name. It supports our long tradition of the gods and the old ways.

I was actually was a contributor to the previous thread. Toying with tossing a condoterri inspired human into the mix, but i need a better grip on what's going on.
    >> Fire Horn 02/16/12(Thu)15:32 No.17977971
I dunno if it's the best idea to throw a human into the mix. Right now a majority of the people seem to want to hunt down the humans in the mountain area.

I'll give you a quick run down.

We were expelled from our nation due to revolution.

We slowly created a new city and explored our surrounding areas.

Due to our mother goddess, the Feathered Snake, we were blessed with lizardfolk, the Night Scales, that have dark scales and dark vision. He Who Thirst is our father god, who likes battles.

Using these new warriors, we have struck down the pink skins (the humans). Upon our success with this, we have allied ourselves with the dwarves.

Some other group of lizardfolk are in the area, which we also dispatched due to superior army.
