THERE ARE NO MORE HEROES LEFT IN MAN

BUT EVEN NOW THERE IS HOPE FOR...

    TG QUEST!!!

    Last thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/17835792/

Short Summary: You have discovered the southernmost lynchpin is home to what you think is the 8-bit Dystopia canon, a place forgotten long ago by its creators, a stillborn setting where the worlds of early gaming were fused into a dark metropolis. Your psychics and spellcasters have proven their worth by managing an extraordinary series of scrying attempts, allowing you to spy on Dr. Wily, Dr. Robotnik, a MetPharm laboratory, and a dig site in the slums. If this were not enough, Tosh also managed to contact the three goddess, Farore, Din, and Nayru when he attempted to find a spirit to talk to.

The question now is what information will you attempt to gather with these incredible results?

Ask the goddesses of the three bearers of the Triforce, doomed to reincarnate forever more.
Did they begin as the goddess Hylia, her champion, and the demon lord Demise?
    Also, time travel. Good idea?
    >> Anonymous 02/08/12(Wed)19:36 No.17862469
Well, these three posts seem to some up our gameplan (pasting over for ease of reference). If the rest of the command crew can provide their input on it before implementation, that would good.
    >1/3
    >>17859242
    Preliminary plan:

    1. Deal with Wily
    a. Steal Dataslate
    b. Remove info from Wily's memory
    c. Make backup of all data on computers, especially experimental robot plans.

    2. Deal with Eggman.
    a. Find out what causes distortion
    b. Steal or destroy it and Metal Sonic
    c. Remove info from Eggman's memory

    3. Go to Digsite
    a. Find out what's causing distortion
    b. Deal with guards
    c. Steal or destroy distortion

    4. Deal with Gems
    -more info needed

    5. Kill, destroy, or turn main boss back to normal.

    For the Aurors:
1.Study Wily's Dataslate to see what he got from it. Possibly see which robot masters he's packing.
2.study Robotnik's lab to confirm what specifically is causing the distortion, most likely metal sonic.
    3. Check out the layout of the digsite, and see if we can get a glimpse of what they're digging for.

    For the Farseers:
See if there's any notables among the corpses/prisoners.

    Tosh:
Where are the heroes that can help us, and how do we get in contact with them?
When did the contaminants arrive here, and will they help us travel through time to prevent them from spreading?
What is the creature at the core of the world; what was it before, and what did it combine with to become the thing it is now?

    RVF-25:
Identify some of the wrecks both in the debris field and on the Moon's surface for later retrieval.

    Indefatigable:
Get into orbit of Hyrule, and begin scans of the three HQ's. Get detailed floor plans, see if there's any kind of interdiction or interference field in place.

For everyone's understanding, the preliminary plan 1-5 is just an outline of what to do.
The particulars and specifics are to be determined based upon results of our scrying and sensor scans.

This plan is solid. I can think of no particular objections to it. I might make an addendum, though: can the Aurors pinpoint the locations they see solidly enough that they might be able to apparate there? Not right now, but if we need to in future. Or the past, even.

Also, see what creatures are being studied at the Gems site, as well as any security arrangements. Always helps to know what we're dealing with. And we might be able to loot some of those beasties, too. Although they should be a lower priority than the robots (be they Wily or Robotnik).

I can't help but wonder: might Metal Sonic himself be the unknown quantity? I can't recall reading about him in any of the 8bit dystopia threads. And he is pretty wanked, so it would likely be a very disruptive element, shifting the balance of power significantly. If he himself is the element in question, we should take him for analysis. But DO NOT activate him. He's powerhungry, and we'll wind up cursing his sudden yet inevitable betrayal. Also keep such a fact in mind when working on our robo/tg/uys. Perhaps we should give them 30 years of ethical testing (via a timedilation field provided by the sages or tech, preferably being only 30 seconds on our end) before activation.

Also: tell the salvage crews to prioritise salvageable gear, but wrecks are also viable for scrap and tech.

Confirm that the three gems seen in the Metpharm Lab are the Spiritual Stones of yore? The Kokiri's Emerald, the Goron's Ruby, and the Zora's Sapphire?

First we should clarify with the goddesses that technically we aren't here to save this world from the corruption that fills it, but merely to remove the contaminants whose presence distorts reality.
You know, maintaining the cosmic order and all that, they probably understand, but I don't want them to get the wrong idea and mistake us for heroes.

The Aurors are able to zoom in on the Dataslate, and manage to show enough of the flickering information on its screen that your scientists swiftly come to a conclusion.

"Weapons technology," Egon replies, adjusting his glasses. "Extremely advanced weapons technology, along with the base theory they are built on."

The Aurors look around the lab of Dr. Robotnik, but can't really see what he is working on aside from it looks to be upgrading some version of Metal Sonic. They do manage to notice a strange device in the laboratory though, under a lot of analysis gear. It is the machine in the picture.

The dig site scrying vision grows hazy as it the scrying zone moves with great speed, deeper within the dig site, until it comes to a great cathedral-like Temple, half excavated from the rubble surrounding it.

The three gems match up perfectly with the Kokiri Emerald, Goron Ruby, and Zora Sapphire.

Maybe the fact that they're in their possession when they shouldn't be is causing the distortions. Like Imperial-tech-upgraded Wilybots might be. That, or they're brought in from another Zelda canon. Perhaps the temple of Time's premature discovery is also causing distortions for the same reason.

Also 'fate set in motion' could mean that they're preparing to launch an attack that will decide this world's fate. If that's the case, we'll simply have a deadline to revert things back to normal.

this setting is right after lights building exploded in the session because this is the very speech he did then.

also the warriors of light don't exist yet either.

Alright, so we need to grab the sub-space bomb to prevent Robotnik from using it, and we need to grab the jewels to prevent the Temple from being used.

The corps won't be able to use the Temple without the jewels, and Wily's robots, while more powerful because of Imperium technology, can still be defeated via means at our disposal.

The RVF-25 is currently searching for Scrapyards, so we can understand how Robotnik and Wily's robots can be made/unmade.

The Storm is currently scanning the HQs for weakness, and tracing Light's signal.

The Farseers are working on contacting Light.
The Aurors are busily trying to verify if the Temple at the digsite is the temple of time.

Is it possible to get Tosh to transmit mental images of Pokey/Porky Minch and Tabuu to the Goddesses, and ask them if either of them resembles the humanoid man that came to the world? If so, do that.

Right. We're gonna need to do 5 things, we're gonna need to do them simultaneously, and we're gonna need to be fast about it:

    #1: Infiltrate Light's resistance movement
#2: Get Dat Fukken Bomb away from Robotnik
#3: Get Dat Fukken Slate away from Wily
#4: Get Dem Fukken Gems away from Metpharm
#5: Get Dat Fukken Temple re-sealed.
#5 should be the easiest, as all you need to do is teleport down a shitton of rocks or cement.

While this happens, anyone with Sensors, Scrying, or Future seeing, should focus on finding heroes. AFTER they're done with their current task.

Wisdom - Egon, for his intellect. Elaine for her level-headed personality.

Courage - Cheryl, because she went through Silent Hill TWICE. Agrias, who fought against the Church she once believed in when faced with their corruption. Pretty much most of the Heroes, simply by their nature.

Power - Cheryl, as an alpha-level psyker, is the only one that comes to mind.

Do you think we'll need to match chosen to people to ones who'll be on the frontlines?

We might have to also match temperaments as well.

The three goddesses have specific elements as well.

    Din - Fire/Earth - Power
    Farore - Wind/Wood - Courage
    Neyru - Water/Time - Wisdom

We've avoided elemental forces for now, as they lack the utility that we could need.
However, if Light=Fire, then Cheryl is certainly Fire based.
For Time, nothing beats a White mage that we multiclassed into Time mage. No idea if Healing is considered watery in FFT, though it's watery in many other canons.
For Wind/Wood we really don't have anyone to match that at all. Plenty of Courageous heroes though - Agrias and Darius are noted.

Wood: dynamic, expansive, stimulated by challenge and action

Fire: enthusiast, fusional, a certain charisma, may be anxious

Earth : temperate, peace-loving, jolly, helpful
Metal: organised, loves order, respects authority and rituals

Water: introspective, discreet, needs safety, may feel lonely

I definitely suggest that Cheryl be made an avatar/paragon/hero(?), probably of Courage but maybe either of the other two. Pretty hard to say. Spike could also be a candidate for courage.

Wisdom could go to Egon, but I kind of feel like Elaine or Lyla might be better? I feel they would connect better with Nayru. Egon is more intelligence than wisdom.

Power is pretty difficult. I'm really unsure because Power has always been Ganondorf's thing, and with Ganondorf being evil and all, well...it's messing up my thoughts on the idea.

Wisdom: Egon. He had the good sense to admit that the eldritch was a very real thing, and didn't discount it just because it fell beyond his understanding of reality. By admitting his own ignorance and committing to learning the unknown, he gained mastery of it. This shows great wisdom.

Courage: Cheryl (or Douglas). Both of them were regular people who got thrown into an impossibly horrible and twisted world. But despite their obvious mundane abilities, they faced Silent Hill head-on (TWICE!). In Cheryl's case, the second time she went she knew that her latent abilities that could very well consume the world had to be used to defeat Ebon Night, and decided to give it a go. Douglas stuck around even though he was just a detective. This shows great courage.

    Yes. Let's.

Well, now we just have to wait for OP to tell us things.
Whether the RVF found a scrapyard.
    Where Light's broadcasting from.
What weaknesses the Corp HQs have.
Whether the unearthed temple is in fact the Temple of Time via scrying + ANON checking (it most likely is)

    That complete, we need plans:
#1: Who do we sent to ensure that no hostiles fuck with the resistance movement?
#2: Who steals the bomb from Robotnik?
#3: Who steals the slate from Wily?
#4: Who steals the gems from MetCorp?

We have a plan for re-sealing the digsite - using the Mikasa to cause a rockslide, teleporting in concrete, and (if we have any geomancers) sealing the place with rocks. We'll investigate the temple ourselves later, but it's sufficient to seal it off for 2 hours while the rest of our teams deal with their issues.

That said, we DO have the Mikasa, along with the Demoman, and high explosives. Might as well use what we have.

Now, since we need to preserve troops against losses, and our infiltrating forces are just that - infiltrating, not staging an all out frontal assault. Small teams of Heroes and Respawners are best, Veterans such as the Aurors and X-commies are also good, the White Mages are good at ressing, the Shadowrunner teams have done shit like this before, and the Respawning BLU team can't be lost.

So there's your loadout. Heroes, Aurors, WHMs, Shadowrunners, BLU team.

It's been said before, but the number one priority is to prevent anyone here from being able to go back in time. The moment that happens we get a causality loop and anything we try to do gets fucked up. In fact just being around a possible loop like this disturbs me. As for Dr. Grimm, well, we'll have to deal with him eventually, but the more crap we handle elsewhere first the better. There seems to be a lot of 'deal with this or the world dies' going on here, but the time travel one is the only one I can think of that's 'deal with this or WE die.'

Annoyingly enough, the fact that we're here and we haven't been immediately destroyed or attacked probably means that we do prevent the time travel from happening. It's still the biggest threat.

I'd like to know if our team has had any luck IDing the poor bastards that Grimm has snared. also if our aurors got a good enough read to be confident apparating.

When it comes to stealing, may I suggest we approach this like a looting mission? I'd suggest taking aurors for both missions.

For one thing, we might want to try apparaition into Robotnik's lab, ideally while he's otherwise engaged at a meeting or something. He's a businessman, we should be able to figure out a time when he won't be home. His security system probably won't factor magic into it (unless Grimm upgraded it or he's just that paranoid). Ditto Wily. Of course, we'd also have to get the information out of his mind. Perhaps if we could replace the subspace bomb with a nonfunctioning replica, perhaps with a Geminio spell. If we can, turn the copy into a portkey, then when Robotnik examines it to find out why it stopped working, we can port him to our ship for a quick mindwipe. Of course, this is contingent on our remaining undiscovered, at least not being found out as getting to his private lab. Heck, we could use metal sonic's body as a portkey, assuming that robotnik wouldn't be able to activate it before we stunned him

That something is "I think it's a bad idea to learn from the Canon natives how to fight against the other Canon natives", because obviously us arriving 15 minutes ago with a page from 1d4wiki and who haven't yet even SEEN any enemy forces yet on this world, will have superior intel on how to fight against enemy forces compared to the people who have been fighting here for months, and it's never a good idea for people to share intel in case someone has something the other is missing.

    Targets:
    Dr. Wily Laboratory
    Dr. Robotnik Laboratory
MetPharm Laboratory (is it on Zebes or Hyrule?)
    Dig site
    Light broadcast location

This is gonna be a tricky one to plan, mostly because of so many unknowns.
Going in combat-heavy at this point in time is VERY LIKELY to be a dumb move. We need to locate a safe entry point for everyone, reasonably close to the things we want to grab.

Send in the Observers first to find that safe entry point for the 3 Labs and digsite.

VP-99 and Spike, and Delta Greens can search for Dr. Light and co.. Focus on avoiding hostiles, and not starting a fight.

Don't do anything overt or forward towards any of the target sites yet. We need to have a clear deploy zone and further observer and sensor intel before we move in.

Farseers can give us an estimate of how much time we have left to plan before it's Go time.

Aurors could attempt to scry, and see if they can pinpoint Dr. Light and a path to him (as our observers are tied up at the moment).

My preliminary plan, for now, is to get stealthy troops watching those targets and sensors scanning those targets, then set up infiltration teams of stealthy/hacking/disguised bullshitty people to move in and get us intel from the inside once we have a safe place to land them.

Our Al'keshes, being cloaked, are the ONLY dropships we should be using now, as it is not time for an open fight yet.

Remember: Even if you can win in a stand up fight, being more prepared than the other guy WILL save you losses. Not only are we fighting against smart people who have built an army, we're fighting against one of our own. I fully expect rushing in with only 75% preparation to result in painful death and sodomy on par with Raccoon City.

Honestly, I would also add some testing of how well our teleporters work here. Just sending something nondescript like a tracking device shaped like a loose screw would do. We could probe dangerous target areas and see how reactive they are to our teleporter energies. I still think that the best bet is magic'ing our way in and out. But we need to be able to get more troops down/materials out. Most of our tentative plans are hinging on teleporters working as intended. Last thing we want to do is set off a bunch of silent alarms and then have them back trace the signal to one of our ships.

There's certainly the contamination aspect, but I believe it's worth risking the contamination of a random group of mercs/private security talking to Light to swap tactical info, in order to learn more about enemy combat capabilities.
You disagree, and I can respect that, but I think that going in WITHOUT that information will lead to our asses being kicked at least 25% harder, and possibly up to 50% harder.

And to say "We can do this with what we have without canon help" is probably true, but emphasis on the "probably". If the enemy has 20 Quick Men then we're in for quite the world of pain.

Our opponent is just as smart as we are (we're talking former TG/Editors-tier here; in other words, former -US-). If we can think of a plan, they already have something planned to counter us.

Hmm, true. Do you think it's worth the risk of talking to Dr. Light, though?

For instance. Suppose I wanted to make an impossible to beat world.
I'd put all my valuable shit in an underground location surrounded by all my toughest dudes and strongest traps, I'd have reconnaisance units on every street corner, I'd have a fleet of hard-hitting stealthy glass cannons, whether as an airforce, a SWAT team, a fleet force, or all three.
I'd have Reality distortion-finding telescopes aimed at the sky at all times, knowing that kilometer long spaceships from outside the canon make reality distortions. I'd find them, and while they're not suspecting, I'd fire c-fractional kinetic weaponry at them.
Most importantly, I'd set up the populace so that any direct GO IN AND SHEWT ALL THE THINGS approach turns the people against the invaders, leaving the invaders to fight against what they try to save,
and any GO IN AND BE STEALTHY approach I allow to work, and feed my enemies enough misinformation to let them walk into a trap.

If the enemy opts to hold back its forces to gather intel I will do likewise, and prepare a stealth flank or backstab attack on them for when they do move forward.

Basically, play it like you know it, win it like you mean it.

My weakness would be a group of people who disguise themselves as natives, making them hard to find and kill, and who steadily convince my own populace to turn against me by showing them of my evil.
They would be using my own force against me.

As useful as some of your posts can be, do you just enjoy seeing your own posts? Do like the sound of your own voice?

Faster-than-light sensor systems would detect any weapon launches aimed at the task force.
The reason why we are doing our own intel-gathering via our own sensors and personnel is because false information could have been fed to Canon natives, which would get fed to us.

    So basically...

Eurocorp agents armed with gauss rifles and persuadertrons, backed up by Aurors who will not hesitate to use the Imperio curse on people.

MetaOP, will you be making another post?
Was there any actionable posts in the last hour?

    When is the next session?

Think of it this way. If Wily has a fortress on this world, you can be sure it's ALL fucking Quick Lasers.

And you don't have Time Stopper.

If my guess is correct, the worst nightmare combination in that context is:

MSF troopers + Eurocorp + Aurors + GiTS + Deus Ex

    led by Kiichi Gotou.

    ... right?

    Roger that.
I'll see if I can be up at 18:00 Board Time for a session of Bootleg Quest. But if I'm not awake, then don't bother waiting.

It's a Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup run!
The team is picked and ready to roll. Only problem is OP likes sleeping a lot.

Have a picture of some Bootleg video game console.
