Picking right up where we left off. Hopefully the site wont fuck itself again.
    Previous threads:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Black+knight+quest

    >"A mysterious stranger once sold me a magical set of armor. His price was my own flesh and blood. I graciously accepted, for I would sacrifice anything for king and country."

    >"I still remember my own horrid screams as I donned the armor, blood pooling at my feet as my flesh was consumed, and my soul bound."

You are Sir Hadrian Blackhand, all that remains of a shattered kingdom and her people. Your soul bound to a living suit of armor, and entombed in the fallen capital of your kingdom. Recently however, you have regained your freedom, and set out for find the cause of the apparent cataclysm that rocked the world while you were imprisoned.

You traveled east, only to find a blasted landscape seared by a massive fire elemental, and the sick cult that worshiped him. Dealing with that, you follwed the coast and found the city of Grandal, but the city is not without its problems, as you are soon drawn into a murder mystery that evolved into some cult worship. The city revealed some shocking discoveries, which lead to an even greater discovery that sent you into a brief bout of relif and guilt ridden hysteria as you killed the wavelord and a great deal of their zealots.

Gesturing to the Barkeep, he quickly grasp your meaning this time, and brings you over a drink, but unlike before, he speaks while giving it to you. "Some dangerous happenings in the city lately, but above..." He paused squinting his eyes "...And below. You should watch yourself and that companion of yours, it would tear me apart to see a sweet girl like her get hurt."

Returning back to his bar, you notice there was a piece of paper slipped under the pint. You take it in your hand, and taking care not to be noticed, read it.

    >"Some strange robed men were looking for a Black knight wreathed in storm and fire earlier. Soon after some guards came by."

    Troubling news indeed.

Calmly storing the note away, you take a moment to appear like you are finishing your drink, before calmly rising to your feet. You feel someones gaze on you as the entire room seems to glance over at you. Ignoring them, you exit the building.

When outside, you confirm that Vengeance had met up with Drei, which she had, and get them to meet you at Mercy. With that taken care of you quicken your pace to the horse, and insure the coast it clear. Arriving several minutes before the others, you query Mercy about the robed men. It turns out they traveled down that way, individually but never came back up this path.

You notice some guards a distance away gesturing in your direction and talking just as Drei comes up to you, but there is far to much noise to pick out what they are saying.

"Sir Hadrian, whats wro-" She is cut off by you briskly mounting Mercy and extending a hand down to her, pulling her up to the saddle. Trotting off, you notice one of the guards grab the other, shout a few words to him and runs off.

Making a loop of the block looking for robed figures proves fruitless.

NOW, TAKE A MOMENT TO THINK
We have gotten a lot of attention. for good or bad. If it is bad, I think it's a bad idea to have Drei with us for much longer, they might recognize her and destroy her oportunities in this city.

We should be thinking in a permanent home for her right now.

Its starting to darken as you wonder the streets. Drei had questioned what was happening at first, but she soon went quiet and just looked around for anything out of ordinary. You can notice her trembling.

Placing a comforting hand on her arm, you ask her where the Cinderfolk in the city live, as it may be safer for her to stay with them. "We...They don't have a set place to live Sir, they're scattered all over the city."

Its the twilight hours now and many people have deserted the streets.

From what I'm getting about our back-story

    >We were Sir Hadrian Blackhand
    >Knighted and participated in a few battles.
    >Got married and had a kid.
    >Fought the Arch-Mage who destroyed our kingdom personally and lost an arm and eye
    >Traded our body for a suit of magic armor
    >Cataclysm happened. We killed entire city out of mercy.

And that's it for the back-story.

With none of the robed figures in sight, and the approaching night, you decide the best course of action is not to return to the inn, or even stay in "this" city for that matter. Setting your destination for the entrance underground, you set out once more, still vigilant for the guards and robed men.

The trip is eerily quiet. The street was deserted, what was very strange, considering how crowded it was around this time the previous night. Even the night culture you had seen was sparse, and they seemed to shy away from passers by, rather than coerce them closer.

Turing a corner, you see a large glow of many torches in the distance. The entrance to the deep is in sight however, in between you and the torches.

From your vantage point in the shadows, you can see a large group of men, some robed and some guards that seem to be facing each other down. There are two men in the center, you assumed the leaders of the two groups having a heated argument.

The entrance is close, maybe 50 feet away, and the mob is about 100 feet away.

Listening in, you recognize the leader of the guards as the short Sergeant you had seen at the guard post. The other man however was not familiar to you, however, the night held no secrets from your sight, and you noticed a familiar brown skin, pointed ears and white hair.

They are arguing over recent events regarding the water cult it seems. The Sergeant is getting overtly frustrated at leading with the taller cool headed man. "I said before dammit! The king DEMANDS the Fire knight's audience for questioning regarding the eye witness accounts of his involvement with the slaughter of several key members in the cult as well as his involvement in the murders! Several people on the docks had seen a rather large man in black running down a person fleeing the sight of one of the murders. Dammit Munch, this isn't about a matter of religion, its about the LAW!" He stomped his foot to put extra emphasis on the last word.

The taller man just sighed and spoke. He had a strong voice, a voice of authority and piety, the voice of a priest. "Cassius, my old friend. If what rumors say about this knight is true, then he may very well be the physical incarnation of our God. However..." He paused and made a weeping gesture with his arm "We are rather concerned for our saviors safety. We have heard some of the stories regarding what happens in those prisons of yours." Cassius snorts "And what of the reports that he also casually wields the "Water Gods" powers along with the Firelords?"

Several of Munch's men shifted uncomfortably, and with a reassuring gesture from their leader, he speaks for them "It is troubling yes, but we have several.....tests prepared to see that this champion is legitimate, and truly faithful." You imagined that he finished that with some kind of sneering face, going by the look on Cassius's face.

    They still haven't noticed you.

Hearing enough of the bickering, you slip by them down the stairs. You hear a "Huh? I think I just saw something over there....never mind it was just a shadow from the lights." You follow the long winding stairway down until you reach the bottom, and going into a aside alley, you allow Drei to get out of the cloak. She looks up at you worriedly "Sir, what are you planning on doing?" You pat her on the head reassuringly, and speak through the necklace to her.

    >"DON'T WORRY."

With that you briskly turn and ride back up the ramp, only this time going up another branch of the tunnels that you noticed when you went up before. If your directions were correct, it should lead you right past the mob and bring you out somewhere near the harbor, and from there it is a short walk to the castle. You shall see what this king wants on your own terms, not the terms of zealots and green boys.

Exiting the tunnel, a kick look around shows that there are not many people around. The usual night crowd is acting as they normally do. With that, you start billowing fog into the already black night and make your way towards the castle.

The journey is uneventful, but there were some times you had to pick your way around some extra guards posted with lanterns, cursing at the fog. With that you soon arrived at the castle.

It was relatively unguarded, and simple in design. It was just a keep surrounded by palisade, that was easily scaled by someone your size. It was late at night now, as many of the few guards that were on duty were lazing about. The front gate is opened, and with a quick glance, you confirm there is nothing magical baring your way.

Stepping in you realize that the size on the outside was the size on the inside. The keep was nearly empty besides a few side rooms. But that is not why you are here.

Sitting on the throne starting down at the strange white fog that suddenly started filtering into his throne room is a boy king, no older than his 17th year. Foolishly, he appears to be unguarded. Striding out into the room with fog billowing in your wake like a smoky white cloak, you draw down your hood and continue up to the boy king, stopping mere meters away from him.

He looks like he is about to call for the guards at first, but is petrified by the glare you give him. "Heee..." He cowers in fear at the armored giant that bypassed his entire defense without sounding a single alarm. "Wh....what do you want from me?" He begs. How unsightly.

Unsheathing your Glaive and slamming it down into the ground beside you, you let yourself burn with the crisom sorrow filled rage of an entire people, weeping at what became of their decadence, so lost in their worship of the false Gods.

You allow the image of the obsidian shell emanating the crimson glow, shrouded in the chilling winds of winter sink into the boy kings head for a moment, however he starts to cry. "I...wh....I..I just wanted to thank you for the service you did our city....I...please don't kill me....I'm a devout believer in your master....." Shielding his face with his arms, he continues "WHY HAVE YOU COME HERE KNIGHT OF THE CRIMSON FIRELORD?!"

Taking his pause as a moment to begin, you jab a finger at him. A long plated finger, coated in the blood of thousands. The very hands you used to kill these fools pretender Gods. How DARE this boy demand your presence then cower in it.

You ended the last word off as a roar, toppling the king over in his throne. Stepping closer, you continued your rare verbal assault.

    >"WITH THESE VERY HANDS YOU SEE BEFORE YOU, I TORE YOUR PRETENDER GOD FROM THE HEAVENS, SPEARING HIM ON THE JAGGED MOUNTAINS THAT WERE ONCE HIS DOMAIN. ONLY TO FIND THAT YOU /FOOLS/ ARE THE DECADENCE OF A KINGDOM I LONG THOUGHT SHATTERED. YOU INSULT THEIR MEMORY WITH YOUR IGNORANCE."

Turning you make to leave the fallen boy to his kingdom. But not before you call something else over your shoulder.

    >"KNOW THIS WELL. "DIES IRAE" IS COMING FOR ALL THOSE WHO DARE TRY AND ENSLAVE THE PEOPLE UNDER FALSE PRETENSES. JUSTITIA OMNIBUS."

With that you filter back through the fog, into the night as alarmed guards come storming in to tend to their boy king.

Thats all for tonight folks. Sorry I took so damn long with that last post. I also have to apologize about making Hadrian speak so much, but I recall people always saying that he should be "silent until he has to say something important." and this speech sure seemed like it was appropriate.

Next thread will be Wednesday at the same time. 18:00 - 19:00 4chan time.

As always I'm sticking around for a bit if people have questions.

Just a quick question, did we scream all that with our true voice? That must have been a hell of a trauma (and I'm okay with it)

That we did. In all our "metal being fed through a combine harvester" glory.

    Also, archived.

What race was the archmage? I recall we fought him before, lost an arm and an eye.

    Awesome.
But for future reference, we could get Drei's necklace to have more "normal" conversations, once we leave her for good.

    Now to sleep.

He was the same kind of human you were. He also tried to get you as under his guidance during your training when you were a boy because of your fire affinity.

I also have a question thats been bugging me for a while.

Hows my writing? I've been steadily trying to improve it over the past few months, but your biggest critic is yourself, so I figured the best way to actually improve is do something like this where I can get input from various people.

It's good, although I'm having a hard time picturing some of the characters in my head. Perhaps a bit more detail is needed.

The characterization is sometimes tough. I thought that Vengence was a dude for a good while. Our characterization being all over the place is more due to there being a bunch of fingers in the pot.

Alright, so try and give more detail in describing characters?

    That would be nice.
    But overall, you're quite good.
