    Thank the Maker!

    TG Quest!!!

Short Summary: You are currently enjoying two weeks of "vacation" which is swiftly turning into "work week that we don't get paid for, but at least no one is trying to kill us." Right now you are talking with Scout Commander Yellowman about what he's seen and heard in his latest round of scouting.

    Last Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/17506042/

"Any other questions you got for me?" Yellowman asks as he takes a sip of his drink.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:16 No.17533191
"Well, some of us were thinking about the RVF-25, and that it's just big enough to take a mini-Transit Drive. Think it would be useful to you Scout Corps?"
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:17 No.17533195
    1. "Speaking of which, what's this distortion that Holtz is asking you to check out? Is it that lone world near the quarantine zone, or is it the unknown distortion moving in?"

    2. "We'd really like to get a status on that warzone in the south of the map."

    3. "What's this Eyepod scout craft you mentioned? It sounds scary from how you described it."

    4. "We've got an idea we've sent to R&D for you guys. The idea calls for a certain kind of recon craft you might be able to use, that could be combined with your compact transit drives. Hope you'll like it."
    >> MetaQuest OP 01/13/12(Fri)19:24 No.17533252
"Possibly? I'm not familiar with that sort of vessel. What can it do?"

"It's the moving one. Why, did you hear something about the zone? As for the warzone, I'll try to swing by on my way to my next mission."

Yellowman grins. "Figures you command boys wouldn't know about the Eyepod. It's a five man jump-capable ship just loaded with sensors and communication gear, topped off with a nice stealth suite and respectable engines in case running becomes a priority. Fragile as hell and crowded as a mall on Black Friday. But they get the job done."
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:28 No.17533306
"Yeah, the RVF's a two-seater electronic warfare bird, capable of independent FTL. It's sensor range is a light-day, and it comes packed with active stealth and ECM."

Bring up the schematics and tech readout on a PADD and show it to him.
    >> MetaQuest OP 01/13/12(Fri)19:29 No.17533320
"That's pretty nice! A transpace capable one of those would be handy, yeah. Hell, even non-transpace ones would be nice to piggy back onto my Scout Frigate."
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:35 No.17533394
"Yeah, thought you might like it. Holtz already sent the idea over to TG R&D, and we'll do some of our own research into it. We'll let you know if any extra RVF's turn up."

Get the RVF scanned by the Antaeus. We will reaearch how make more of them soon.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:36 No.17533402
Well, we mentioned you guys might like one to the boss and he sent it to R&D. If you're lucky, you'll have some soon. If you're not, we might have to divert some of requisitions your way. We're better off sharing tech and such so that we can fix this mess quicker.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:37 No.17533416
We should also scan the Eyepod. Best case, we can research it, and build our own com system.

Worst case? We build a dozen of them for the scouts.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:41 No.17533447
Hmmm.. Well, we DO need to test the limits of the Antaeus-class Creation Engine.
Let's see if we can scan and fabricate one.
    >> Potential Writefag 01/13/12(Fri)19:41 No.17533449
"Well, all we know about the shitstorm in the south area is that the TSAB is getting into it with Chaos. We're hoping to maybe get a bit more info on that before we make any solid plans or order up some big guns. The whole area looks like one giant cluster of rape, and after that episode with Ebon Night we're trying to not get caught in a situation like that again. Any intel you can get would help us, but don't get greedy. We need you alive more than we need the data."

At this point, I'd like to OOCly ask for a sector map with better resolution and coloring, because the ones I've seen are all JPEG artifact and tiny little dots that all look like red worlds. Also, a map key would be lovely.

As far as Yellowman's gear goes, I'd be fine with giving him stuff. Anything we've got that we can spare or Creation Engine up for him we should load him with. This guy's gonna be our eyes on the rest of the sector while we're in the field and I want him capable of at least smacking something's hand hard enough to scoot away. I honestly think we're the worst-off sector, and we need all hands on deck for it.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:43 No.17533466
Hmmm....I think that we should, very carefully, put out feelers on Yellowman's opinion on the whole Firemen situation. We've worked well together, and we'll need as many contacts as we get.

Also, if we can make them with the Antaeus' creation engines, may as well give him some. A good scout time means we have good intel, and that's something that we always need.

On an unrelated note: I had an idea.

    Ubercharge Nanites.

    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:46 No.17533502
    >übercharge nanites
    I have a better idea.

S2 Organ? Sorry, what's that from?
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)19:49 No.17533541
    So, agreed plan is:
    A. Scan an Eyepod with the Antaeus, see if we can make copies.
    B. "So, you hear about whats happening at High Command?"

    No, really.
    >> MetaQuest OP 01/13/12(Fri)19:59 No.17533650

"Yeah, yeah, I'll see what I can skim from there. Yeah, I heard. I'm sure it'll just blow over, it's not the first time the Fireman have tried to stir up trouble..." he frowns. "They picked a hell of a time for it, though, didn't they?"

Eyepod blueprints are available from the base. Currently the Antaeus cannot build the standard unit, however, with a modifications, it might be able to.

We need Yellowman to come back alive, and to be able to escape with a push of a button.

Pic-related: VF-171 with TWO fold boosters on the wings, good for a round trip on the spot if shit goes south.

Ok, I think that's everything for Yellowman. Next is talking with Holtz. We need to talk about using his contacts in other sectors to distribute our new tech and to see what he thinks about supporting the Moderates.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)20:08 No.17533754
Indeed, we need to work on our current projects.

Speaking of which, what research item did we settle on?
I think it was the Spear/S2/Blue Crystal combo, but there has been a lot of people talking over each other in the last thread,so I'm not sure what we are doing right at the moment.

    Same regarding our other projects.

    Here ya go:

    To do list:
    Name our ships. [CHECK]
Find out if SSD-refit included Reality Emitter. If not, we fix this. [CHECK]
Find out if Antaeus-refit included Shields and reality emitter. If not, we fix this. [CHECK on Emitter] Status of shields pending.
Find our if ISD-refits included Reality Emitter. If not, we fix this.[CHECK]
Upgrade all our Reality Emitters to the Mark II spec. [In Progress]
Have Gurus look over the Reforged Ring of Sindi, and see what they make of it, if it seems safe enough to them, have them make use of it to augment their crafting.
Follow up with going over Gurthang, seeing if they feel it would be safe to reforge and issue.
Upgraded Shields and Emitters for the two Al'kesh.
    Reconstruct HK-50 and VP-98.
Install Incursion technology on the Indefatigable, VP-99, VP-98, HK-50, and a squad of Securitrons.
Have the Gavs, Data, and a Techno-Wizard (Telemechanics, you _everything_ about a machine while in effect) go over the remains of the old EMH's mobile emitter and feed that data into the Creation Engine. Even if we can't reconstruct the emitter portion it was stated numerous times to be constructed of advanced materials and hosted an amazing power source. In the STO timeline they eventually reverse engineered it and put them into widespread use.
Get with Data, the Gavs, and a TW for good measure, and begin working on getting designs for our existing equipment and replicator files converted over for compatiblity with the Creation Engine. Start laying plans for Creation Engine upgrades.
Shields for the Tanks, Battlemechs, VB-6s, and VF-25s. In that order.
Note that we've savalaged everything from every battle, so most emitters from the fallen were likely recovered.
We should beef up the Emitters on our mech units, it they aren't already counted as Vechicle scale and not just Personal ones.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)20:14 No.17533834
Have TWs work on Storage Talismans for the White Mages.
White Mages see if they can make Ethers and Elixirs.
Get Non-mages used to our shipment of Fallout Power Armor and weapons.
Have TWs and Gurus work on TW armor options for the White Mages, and then for the Abjurers and Psions second.
Basic soldier boosts for our people.
Do our own upgrade on the security of our ships computer cores, hardware firewall/breaks, and software where possible. Consult with Data, Mouse, Netrunners, and a Techno-Wizard.
Install personal reality stabilizers at computer cores as backup as well.

    Research list:
Finish up the Offensive Reality Emitter research we've been working on. [CHECK]
Figure out just what is up with that Vampire SUE-rum [CHECK] We know what is up with it, Now pending decision about what to do with it.
    Get cracking in Aglaophotis-B.
Study our Lance of Longinus, S2 Engine, and the Blue Crystal. Research is likely to overlap between these given the shared source and Elder data.
    Design RVF-25Meta.

I miss any check marks or updates?
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)20:18 No.17533890
We were prioritizing the Blue Crystals and Lance of Longinus.

    >>Design RVF-25Meta.
You want to incorporate a transit drive as a pack, or as a pair of external transit drive boosters capable of a round-trip?
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)20:19 No.17533898
    >Have TWs work on Storage Talismans for the White Mages.
Math for that worked out to 4 days for them to get one for each White Mage and 2 each for Lyla and Elaine.

There was a suggestion to cast it right into the white mage robes, though Lyla and Elaine would need a second item, hairclip or necklace or a smacked TW if he mentions other suggestions.
If we can get a pile a gemstone sometime they can make something more serious, but storage talisman is more on par with a rechargable ether than a super battery.

Speak with Holtz about spreading our new reality tech to other sectors.
Speak with Holtz about supporting the Moderates in a subtle way.
Train X-COM vets in the ways of Char's Newtypes.

    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)20:27 No.17534015
Hm, I think someone else was compiling that list.
Still seemed a bit hazy, since we just told everyone to take two weeks off, so intensive training is probably out.
Though we do need to bring everyone up to speed on the Fallout gear we just got in, and get the squishes into some powered armor.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)20:27 No.17534020

The booster doesn't have to be jetissoned. I would say that we could try to fit the transit drives on the wing sections of the craft, similar to the Tornado Pack, or add reinforced mounts on the wings so we can attach them on the hardpoints on the wing undersides.
    >> Potential Writefag 01/13/12(Fri)20:31 No.17534067
    In person, of course.

There's some things you just don't *say* over comm lines.

Also, get Mouse started on those security code tinkerings/checkings. As I said when i posted it, NO ONE outside the command crew gets the real, changed codes. Nor do we hint at their existence.

Not that we don't trust Holtz, but this is a case of "The less you know, the less you get hurt". Plausible deniability.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)20:32 No.17534088

Here's some of the training lists I can dredge up from the planning thread:

    Course Menu:

    1. Char's Newtype training for X-Com psychic troops.

    2. Gunstar pilot's re-training vs VF-25 pilots and Char.

    3. Miscellaneous training for FFT classes/heroes

    4. WH40k preparedness training: Reasonables/KI vs all the other troops

    5. Miscellaneous Auror training (like "creativity") (if there is time to squeeze after research on magically buffing our gear with aid from the Techno-Wizards)

    6. TIE Defenders vs VF-25s

    7. The Nanny-bag and You: Death is only the Beginning
    >Make sure everybody knows how the nanny-bags work and how to preserve someone in them

    8. Ghostbusting 101 with Dr. Spengler
    >we should get more than just Egon rated on the proton pack and slime-thrower

I'd also add in this training:

9.) Mecha prep course. The crews of the dropships and all of our mecha pilots get together to educate each other about the finer points of combat against each of their canon's mecha. Simulated battles are a must.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)20:34 No.17534106
In person. The messages may well be watched or monitored, and the whole Fireman thing makes me slightly paranoid.
OP: Did we get any Small Items with the requisition, or only Troops and Mechs?

    Most likely a pack.

For Research and Engineering, I'd like to figure out how to make either a Black Hole Rifle or any other powerful weapon, and how to either make Fallout power armor, or use an alternative power source for X-Com's power armor. I'd also like to get some Kevlar for the spellcasters.
What would we need to do before we could manufacture personal shields?
Do we have enough Reality Mk. IIs to put a Gellar field over all of our ground troops?
Some magic protection might also be useful to work on, if the Gurus aren't already busy with Gurthang and equipment upgrades.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)20:35 No.17534116

Mecha prep course also includes VF-25s if it's not too ridiculous.

I'll just throw my theory on we research our own stuff out there again:
    >Considering the inter-canon meta nature of things, we need to build our own personal canon for a lot of this stuff to work for us across worlds. HQ pays for this research material to add to their libraries to combine the various personal canon accounts to the point that they are powerful enough to function everywhere no matter who builds/uses it.

That, or we really are just one of the few that go "Send Scientists!" when asked what kind of troops you want to save the world with.

    Training exercises. Always a must.

Feed any tactical and strategic data from the training exercises into A.N.O.N. and Data, transmit combat data to HQ if we find anything new or interesting about the way inter-canon combat works.

Enchanting to make and upgrade magic shit
Fleshwork to upgrade your troops' minds and bodies.

You can theoretically steal the Huckebein 008L and the BHC from the SRW OG canons (GBA versions), but it's kept under lock and key when not in use. Of course, since the GBA continuity runs into a semi-dead end at OG2, you could steal it due to the Uncertainty Principle in effect.

This may be a bit too forward. We don't want to explicitly state anything about taking sides, there are ears everywhere.

Perhaps we can open up with something like

"While our officially assigned duty is to stabilize this sector, is there anything else we can do to help out TG?"

This might be too general and might need some refinement.

    >>On a second note, if we have trouble mass producing Longinus Lances, we can grab the EVA-05 versions from many many continuities to help speed up R&D, mainly because there's several SRW continuities which have the MP EVAs. IIRC, we can steal up to 72 full-sized replica lances this way if done correctly.

    Hrm. Holtz has a point.

While we're bound to have to choose a side sooner or later, our life is already complicated enough without lobbying for one side.

From an extremely meta-standpoint, this could be the OP telling us that we're still in the point in the game where we're blazing across the canons, saving the universe. While we COULD skip ahead to the gritty reality of faction politicking and sabotage part of the game, we might want to get all we can from the current stage we're in before inserting Disc 3.
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)21:18 No.17534655
Most SRWs have some degree of meta-awareness. Knowing the nature of those canons, they would probably thumb their nose at the TSAB.

In ACE:R, the Shadow Angels (from Aquarion) could cross continuities freely and effortlessly. In the same game, Gen Fudo shows being meta-aware when he did some zen rambling and then hodgepodged together a method to cross canons/worlds by having the abilities of Aquarion and King Gainer work in tandem.

Yes, no disagreement there. Zolomon is awesome.

It's only one weapon, one that is mass-produced and deployed in a war, which therefore means there are likely depots that can be looted, or corpses if one doesn't mind getting their hands dirty. I doubt it's anywhere near the level of Zolomon.

Also: how do reserve heroes actually work?
Well, if you know anyone from other sectors, may as well pass the info along direct. It sounds like sectors are suffering for want of sharing tech information. It may not be through proper channels, but damnit, it sounds like we need all the advantages we can get.

The mass-produced lances of longinus? You can loot them after the SRW guys are done beating the hell out of the MP EVAs.

Most of the lances are drifting in orbit after the battle. In Alpha (PSX)'s case, they're scattered around the Geofront.

Also, Holtz, some of us have been thinking on specialized training programs for our troops. Most of all of them sound great, but we managed to forget that our team is on vacation for two weeks. There are undoubtedly those amongst them who do their damndest to combat ennui when not in action, but we don't want to muck up the last vacation they may have in quite a while. But the potential usefulness of these training sessions cannot be denied.

As such, we were wondering if we could ask for some time after the vacation period is over to apply these training programs. We have a tentative list of training programs here, if you want to look over them... and if you don't mind adding one more page to that origami Mt. Everest you have there.

MetaQuest OP, no doubt this sector had a list of what worlds were in it, before the calamity struck.
Is it possible to get a list of, say, 5 random worlds that we could potentially visit (that aren't WH40k)?
Even if it's a flyover of "stable" territory killing S.U.E.s, it'd be nice to see what options exist.

Don't want to 'speed run' too long, hitting the bad sections still helps calm the sector down better and nets us more kudos and requisitions.
Me, I want to hit that blue one, then the grey to down and to the right, then consider hitting the hot zone they are both next to.
Effectively, want to keep expanding the area of stability we've made and roll across the sector.
Also keeps just stable areas in the path of the unknown coming in, so we don't have compound distortion issue with it.

The map HQ had on hand no longer corresponds to the sector map in any meaningful way, save for when you restore a section. But by then, you don't need to go there.

On the thirteenth day, the command crew gets a formal notice to meet in briefing room 23-A. The notice carries all the proper authorizations, and is signed "Colonel Yurgus."
    >> Anonymous 01/13/12(Fri)23:33 No.17535966
It's a computer representation of meta-space-time in the area. We use the word 'worlds' a lot to describe the round representations of trouble areas, but they aren't worlds in the galactic of system map sort of way. They are Canons, and the ones that stand out to us on this map are trouble areas and distortion readings in metaspace. So those dots when it is right aren't so much worlds as map representations of things being in the proper alignment. There can be uncounted worlds stuffed in between the lines, be as long as they are fine, they aren't our concern.

Let me explain this in a simpler way. Ever world there on the map can be imagined as giant floating plastic balls, with tiny ping pong balls stuck together by barbeque sticks. That is what a canon would look like from a meta perspective. And here in the meta sector, we're in this giant, white empty museum hall.

It's only toxic when you try and push past your AMS compatibility beyond it's limits, which can cause lethal amounts of Psychic stress, yes.

One of the GA branches had great success in multiplying many of their sub-par pilots AMS compatibility with their NEW SUNSHINE project.

So, as long as we use pilots with decent AMS compatibility and we don't use those experimental NEXT units, like the ones Fiona Jarnefeldts father designed, we should be fine.

Orz, yeah I don't know what ya'll were thinking, but this is just an underfunded sector base with someone certain people don't like running it. Shouldn't be huge waves.
TSAB, we gained intel information from a neighboring power in the face of severe sector distortion.

Dark Matter Canon, well you guys worked it out eventually, but yeah, how did ya'll survive without me.
Philemon, not a deal, we established a contact with a previously meta-aware being that prefers to be a passive observer.

Furthermore, what we already did is being either siphoned off or hidden from the rest of the sectors. I think things are worse at HQ than we had initially assumed."

So not only does he not want us researching, he also doesn't want other people having upgraded emitters.
Is, uh, there any possibility that S.U.E.s or Chaos might be in Black Ops or the Firemen? Might there be a specific reason for not wanting increased reality emitters?

    I want to try something.
Send across details or knowledge of the following:
    The Vampire S.U.E. tank
    The Shipper bomb (hurts chaos)
    The Elder Things' language
Mundane research, such as how to replicate Federation Steel
See which of them get through.

If they're blocking everything from us, that tells us something. If they block only PARTIAL amounts of stuff, that tells us something too.

    >Maybe we should have Tosh do a spiritual examination of a Reality Emitter, to see just what we're relying on?
    Seems reasonable.

The plans stopped at Main, meaning someone there stopped it.

Fuck. The /tg/ recruit squad is now a very big liability. Who knows if have a plant in there.

Before we set off on our next mission, I'd suggest sitting down for a one-on-one debrief session with each of them. Try to profile them to see if any of them have the psychological profile which would make them a good fit with the Firemen faction.

In any case, we need to be careful of how we deploy them from now on.

The Firemen are gearing up for a coup d'etat and civil war. They are doing this by getting all the resources into their party, with Black Ops in with them as well.

    The codex says this:
    >>--Canons can be sick, burnt down, chopped down, etc.
    >>--Canons can also be planted, transplanted

    >>204X: After much energetic tumult in the Meta, the BPI rallies or out-and-out wrests enough resources to build a military space fleet and associated stations (using MetaScry-constructed macro-fabricators) in order to secure a MetaMilitary presence in a large portion of the surrounding galactic space.

If we do something like this, FOR FUCKS SAKE BE DISCRETE ABOUT IT!
If there is something fishy going on, we want to stay out of their radar.
If we go with somthing like this, maybe send it as a "research data dump" or something like that to keep a lower profile and maintain deniability so we have at least some excuse for our actions, as we can be pretty sure all our transmissions that can be monitored are being monitored as normal operating procedure, and now with an unknown possible hostile force at HQ we need to be CAREFUL.

If we do continue reality emitter research, we need to use MAXIMUM PARINOIA, keeping everything even remotely hinting to it away from not only our communication systems, but also ANON, as we can be pretty sure anon is filled with assorted backdoors and anti-defection code.
I suggest as a minimum: All research materials and reseach related systems should have no contact whatsoever with normal ANON / Comms / anything else.
All communications and data being handled in a similar manner, with ANON and our comms array never getting the encryption keys or any data relating to the research.
