    Well /tg/, after about a weeks work, the Saveage Worlds Stalker Setting is fully ready to be playtested. The only thing left to do is some minor editing, and a fluf chapter on the key locations of the Zone, and the factions. I humbly submit this for you to try, and Im eager to know how you find it, what you like/dont like and how well it works mechanically.

    I've included my email address in the .pdf for anyone who playtests to email me and let me know how you found it.

    I hope you enjoy it, it was a lot of fun putting it together, and finally after 2+ years of planning and false starts to finally be able to sit down and have a fully realised STALKER RPG.

    Well me emails in the .pdf so be sure to let me know how it goes. Savage worlds is a great system, and the best choice for a cinematic stalker with some gritty bits thrown in for good measure.

    The only thing thats missing now that kind of crucial is an appropriate character sheet. I have some ideas for how to lay it out, but I wont be able to work on it for a few days, have some long shifts coming up at work. Id say the biggest hinderance right now for playing it is keeping track of the bonuses and penalties to things like rad resistance and such.

    I remember trying the d20 system. It was fun, but not really my forté. Never been a fan of d20.

    Hopefully I can get a proper charsheet together by monday or tuesday, but until then tracking the modifiers might be a bit of a pain. But if anyone comes up with a decent layout, let me know! again, emails in the pdf.

    I could do, would be a week or so before I could get it running though. drop me an email and we can chat about it if you like. Id be quite wierd about it because Ive never Gm'ed online before. Id still suggest running it IRL with your own groups and such and see how it goes.
    Yeah i appreciate you pointing out the errors, but increasing the damage and AP will do nothing save make combat even more lethal. Theres a line between realism and gameplay and Im trying hard to stay in the 'Fun! Fast! Furious!' mentality of Savage Worlds with this.

    Ill be monitoring this thread for another half hour or so sporadically, I have to grab a shower and some food before I hit bed. Work in a couple hours. Hopefully this survives till morning.

    the thing i really enjoy about the art for stalker 2 is that they seem to be going in the direction of making the average STALKER look like a hobo dressed in a hodge podge of milsurp stuff, which i think is a lot more interesting and believable than the usual game models where everyone seems to be in a handful of very standardized uniforms

    well, there's also repair your gear as it gets messed up
    and sleep when you're tired

    i think the proper direction to take things would be to find ways of making you feel more than a bunch of armor stats and a pair of hands with a gun.

    stuff like,
    -looking down and seeing your body
    -having masks limit your vision like some mods do.
    -being able to mix and match your attire more, and npcs being more varied for the same reason.
    -actually animate your character using medkits, eating food, taking medicines, drinking vodka, applying bandages in first person.
    -have radiation have more pronounced affects other than just losing health. like coughing blood, lowered stamina, and such where you really need to see a doctor, not just spam rad hypos or vodka till you're better
    -be able to recruit fellow stalker bros to go on missions with you if you want, so you're aren't the only dumb schmuck out there lonering it up
    -more interaction with your environment. like being able to sit down by campfires and chill, play guitar, eat, drink, smoke and such.
    -anomalies and artifacts more mysterious. their affects more unpredictable and weird. Obtaining them should be much more dangerous
    -areas of interest farther apart with more anomalies (that can change position) in between so there is more wandering and you can't just sprint back to base for safety whenever shit goes sour.
    -mutants that can climb, so you're not safe standing on that rock, or truck

    ah, yeah the later stalkers change things up a bit. you'll probably like it, CoP anyway. Some mods push it further than others. For instance certain mods actually make medkits temporarily deplete your stamina by a bit so that you can't chain em while running for your life. Some (usually the same mods that give the stamina hit) make medkits give you a slow regen instead of a health boost so that you DEFINITELY can't use em midfight in addition to making you sleepy sooner, and/or giving you drunk vision. Some more recent mods actually combine those things with putting your weapon away while you use drugs, food, drinks, or medkits to account for not having a magical third arm.

    But bringing up ShoC reminded me of something i think was missing from CS and COP, that ShoC only briefly touched on near the end of the game. In so far as safe areas where you could skedaddle on back to to sell loot, buy stuff, and chillax were not always within easy reach.

    One of those special uniquely stalker vibes came from being stuck out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere in the middle of the night with every safe haven being uncomfortably far away. So if you were playing a mod with sleeping bags, you'd often just have to find an attic, basement, or other assorted remote nook to sleep in, and make your existing supplies last longer.

    oh sorry, i've played more modded stalker than vanilla, so my memory might be fuzzy, but in retrospect...

    ShoC you needed mods to do this.
    CS and COP allowed you to sleep by default.

    but i think it was only in certain mods where your character actually could get sleepy if he stayed awake for too long or took too many medkits/drugs or shots of vodka. Getting progressively blurrier vision and occasionally yawning and shaking his head to try and keep awake. Energy drinks could delay this. Some mods actually had you pass out if you went for days without sleep or got too drunk, having you wake up at some random time. I don't recall if you could get attacked in your sleep or not as it only happened to me 2 times ever.

    spent the past two weeks working on stalker mini's to run a game using a homebrew/mod of the infinity ruleset. keep this thread bumpan and i'll go take some pictures of what i have done so far.

    I played Complete 2011 and it was great, didn't get sleepy though I did get hungry. I only ever used the sleeping bag for tactical purposes. Before I got the good, black & white night vision suit at Yantar, I'd sleep through nights if I was about to attack some place and couldn't see anything.

    I also failed to save Wolf from a random A-Life attack about 5 times so I decided to just sleep through it. (Just outside the Freedom base, where the exo guys shoot fleshes all day) I don't know if it actually stopped the fight from occurring or if the Loners got lucky that time but he was alive and I was so happy ':3

    setting up all the stuff, bumpan with a cheezy poster i'll be printing in small scale to stick on buildings, and larger to give to the players.

    Most of the players have not played stalker, so i'm making them some information packets detailing the factions and their overviews. Each one also gets a poster.

    Got the idea for this one off /v/'s ace of spade threads and i'm sure stalker fans already have made it. couldnt find one so i had to spend 1000 hours in mspaint

    Wasnt going for much detail, just enough color to get the point across for the players.

    all the loner/bandit hoods/masks were GSed. Made one gasmask and a backpack.

    Models are 1:72nd scale ceasar miniatures on mosaic tile bases.

    11.99 ish for 32-42 figures
    300 tiles for 3 bucks.

    64 farm animals for turning into mutant monsters

    2 GW cathedral corners
    1 wip cordon house from the trader's loner villiage.

    planning to build alot more buildings in the various styles that fit the zone from this page.


    and along the way build up the large train depot from the garbage and other memorable huge firefight area's.
