...You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?

    TG Quest.

    Last thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/17468187/

When the light recedes, you find yourself on soft grass. Scattered around are the other members of the command crew, along with most of your ground troops. The psychic team is noticeably absent, as are the mechs.

Looking around, you see a castle, buildings in the distance. A mountain rises under some of them. There are a lot of clouds too. A lot of clouds. It takes you a moment to realize you and your men are on a floating island.

We'll do what we always do.

Take stock of the situation. Who in particular is with us right now? What is their status?
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)00:28 No.17471511
well, we either won or lost. probably lost.

in any case, see what we *can* do.

"Come in A.N.O.N.! This is the Command Crew of the Oncoming Storm, do you read?"

Get the other members of the Command Crew up, and see if any of the other ground troops are injured.

Have someone determine what our inventory is like.
Others, take a look at those buildings; we're most likely in a magical world. Does the architecture look familiar to anyone?

"Oooooh, my head...they can't cut my pay... not after that nightmare..." Lyla murmurs. Elaine blinks, then shakes her friend awake. Lyla wakes with a start. "Elaine! I just... wait. Where's Mark? And... it wasn't a dream..."

"Cheryl!" Douglas screams as he wakes. He looks around desperately. "Where's Cheryl?"

Finalon and Darius silently go around rousing the men as Star Lord takes a minute to nurse his wounds. Spike groans in pain and opens his eyes but doesn't say anything.

Question. Do our communication devices still work?

If so, then we could possibly all meet up and coordinate from there. Or we could coordinate a wider search and rescue effort with our respective groups.

Or have the other teams that are separate from us try to gather info and such from their environment, as moving around in an unknown world might be potentially dangerous.

The good news: Chrono Trigger is fairly well-known amongst all of us.

The bad news: Any non-magically inclined person (i.e. NOT WHITE MAGES OR AURORS) is going to stick out like a sore thumb to the locals. We might get sent down to the surface of the planet, where all the non-magical plebes eke out an existence that is akin to living like cavemen.

In addition, we may or may not be living on borrowed time. If this is before all the craziness with Lavos started up, we may be in for a bit of hide and seek while we attempt to recover our personnel.

If this is during the events of Chrono Trigger (when they traveled to this period), we have a limited timeframe in which we need to recover our guys before Lavos is summoned and he fucks the world over.

    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)01:21 No.17472065
For the benefit of the questers (and our assembled team):

We are currently in the Kingdom of Zeal. This kingdom runs on magic 24/7 (or sufficiently advanced magic that can work as technology), and everyone in this kingdom can use magic. Those who cannot use magic are exiled to the surface of this planet, which can be described as a snowy tundra. These exiles have formed self-sustaining communities, but have sadly not advanced past the point of making rough-hide clothes and subsistence farming/hunting (unlike the Avernites. But that's another canon). In order to access the other islands, we will have to use the teleporters, which are usually located inside buildings on the island.

About the canon: this is the Chrono Trigger canon. This canon heavily involves time travel. The protagonists of this canon travel through time, attempting to discover the origins of a world-shattering (and probably the being that seeded most non-prehistoric life on this world) being named Lavos. Lavos has already landed on this world as of now, and is dormant. He is waiting until civilization reaches a certain point before awakening and consuming most of all life on this planet.

However, depending on the point in history in which we've arrived, the current ruler of the Kingdom of Zeal (named Queen Zeal) may be attempting to awaken Lavos or siphon his power. Either attempt results in rousing Lavos from his sleep, which causes him to prematurely consume this world. While this fails and the world continues to evolve and flourish, it results in a very destructive rain of fire that wipes out most of the surface of the world.

    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)01:21 No.17472066

The Nu. Odd creatures that are basically giant blue heads with arms and legs and a green mohawk. Usually tranquil and civil, but can be absolutely devastating in combat with their headbutts.

Queen Zeal: perhaps the current ruler of the Kingdom of Zeal. While she was initially wise and tranquil and patient, Lavos influences her to become increasingly reckless, imperious, and ambitious. This may or may not have spurred her to exile the non-magic users. May be immortal as far as aging death goes. Extremely powerful sorcerer, do not engage. Has blue hair.

Princess Schala: perhaps the Princess of Zeal at this time. Level-headed and kind-hearted, and well-versed in magic. She may not turn us in if she encounters us, and may possibly help us out of we explain ourselves. But still, it may not be good to alert anyone significant of our presence here, if we can help it. Has crystal-blue hair.

Prince Janus: Little kid. Kind of a downer. Has a purple cat that follows him around everywhere. Best to avoid contact with him at all costs, due to his role in future events.

Dalton: Queen Zeal's underling. Total asshole. Strong sorcerer, but not nearly as dangerous as the minions he summons.

Golems: Dalton's underlings. Very dangerous. Attacks are based on whatever it was hit with (retaliates with massive magic or physical attacks if hit with the corresponding attack). Kind of dumb. Also deathly afraid of heights.

Zeal was consumed in fire and the whole island went crashing down. Only the Black Omen/Undersea palace made it out unscathed.

We're probably not seeing any life because Zeal is essentially a gated living community. All the inhabitants live in the cities and teleport to and from each city. We are not likely to find any local fauna, save for the pets that the inhabitants have.

The Aurors head towards the palace as the Observer changes course for the hangars. The Blackbird is indeed docked, and a luminous humanoid is staring at it, wistfully. Moving inside the hangars, the Observer locates the VF Squadron's remnants haphazardly collapsed within. The pilots appear to be unconscious. The Hyaku Shiki is also within, lying on its back.

Occasionally the Observer registers swift flashes of light or movement as it investigates, but never enough to lock onto.

Wild speculation on where we're at here, but:

It might be possible that we're in some sort of time-lost preserved version of Zeal, or some sort of "artificial" Zeal that someone created and shunted into space somewhere.

    Emitters are functioning.

In the hangars are the Mad Cats, the Brasta, the Hyaku Shiki, the Tomahawks, and your seven remaining VFs with their pilots within. No extra EX-gears.

The Medic starts healing the pilots, which seems to wake them. Needless to say, they are very confused. Scout pops open the hatch of the Shiki to find Char inside.

"Wakey, wakey space case!" he says, prodding him with the bat. Char grabs it from his hand and throws it away in one smooth motion.

"Go fetch," he mumbles as he puts on his pair of sunglasses.

"My bat!" Scout cries, running after his discarded weapon.

"Not exactly, though it might be soon."

"Come with you?" he ponders the question for a while. "I suppose I could, at that. I wonder what sort of life I'll be able to lead as a time ghost. It'll be interesting at least. You have a way out? You might want to be careful. I suspect there are ghosts that hunger for the chance you're giving me far more than I!"

Find the source of the quake, and send a mech to take down the shard!

    Hopefully there's a nearby VF-25.
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:27 No.17473319
We're at 330, so yes, we have.

Preferably, we'll find something that lets us excape. If we don't. . . well, we could jump through a rip that Ebon Night makes.

    >The ground starts shaking as a low moan of pain reverberates from the air.
That fucker just does not learn, does he?

Everyone, look out for that tear in space-time, then fire everything you have at it.
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:29 No.17473329
Char, there's a thing. Make the thing stop moving.
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:29 No.17473333
On that note, I really can't go on.
Thanks for the quest OP, nice tweest you have going here.
Hope we can make it all work out.

Merry sleep to all, and to OP a good night.
    >> MetaQuest OP 01/09/12(Mon)03:30 No.17473340
    rolled 74 = 74

    Thanks! Sleep well!

    Someone archive this?

A crack in the air, and a massive, mauled tail lashes forth, bowling over your SCP troopers as your ground forces immediately begin to open fire. The VFs switch to battloid mode and open up on the disembodied limb, ripping ghastly holes in it, but not enough to put it down as it swings again...
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:31 No.17473344
We would risk being trapped in The Darkness Beyond Time, you know that?
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:32 No.17473356
Yes, and that's why it's an absolute last resort. If we have no other choice, we can either stay here and die, or jump through a hole.
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:32 No.17473357
I was gonna do it, but it's already done!
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:32 No.17473361
    Archive has been done.

Keep on pouring on the fire!
Medic, start medicing those SCP troopers!
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:34 No.17473366
That's why I was hoping we could just prop one of those tears open, as a doorway for Cheryl to contact us or pull us back or join us or something.

We won't survive the void, so we need godly assistance.
    >> MetaQuest OP 01/09/12(Mon)03:34 No.17473372
This time, it is a swing of Ringil that slices through the limb, cutting it off and causing it to collapse to the ground. The detached tail begins to melt into goo as the crack in the air seals shut behind it.

"Hopefully that made up for my previous performance," Darius nods.

With little else in the city being found, the time has finally come to investigate the palace... and perhaps rescue Tosh.

But that is a story for tomorrow because even I must sleep.
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:36 No.17473385
    Sleep well.
And are you particularly bothered by the whole "Longinus = N'th-dimensional door-stopper" development?
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:37 No.17473393
I hope we didn't miss anything else, like Gaspar's time ghost.
We still have the Observer and VP-99 searching for him, right?

Speak for yourself. It's only cycle 8 and I've already killed 4 of the brothers and fed all of the sisters. Mantid's still alive because I'm intending to use him for a full color boost later, and Montgolfier's immune to Ordalia. Everyone else dies as soon as they enter.
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:39 No.17473404
Looks like we won't need to recruit Giles at this rate.

Now, how to stabilize the time ghosts?
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)03:40 No.17473413
    >That fucking game
I could never get into it.
As soon as we get Cheryl around she'll be able to corporalize them handily.
    >> MetaQuest OP 01/09/12(Mon)03:41 No.17473422
I was surprised to see the idea, but I am not bothered, no.

    >I could never get into it.
True, it really is an Autistic game for Autists such as myself. I play it like an economy simulator, balancing each color and getting maximum use and maximum growth out of what I have.
Caterpillar is a bitch to fight.
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)04:02 No.17473566
Actually, I could never get into it not because of lack of autism, but rather I couldn't get over the nihilistic bent of it.

Holy fuck is it depressing, at least when you start doing logical extrapolations.

Well, back to the requisition thread
    >> Anonymous 01/09/12(Mon)06:05 No.17474417
Too bad, I was kinda forward to recruiting him.

Where is the new requisition thread?
