112 KB Black Knight quest thread II Blackknight !EGl50Sr6go 01/07/12(Sat)17:55 No.17457400
    First thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/17449009/

    >"A mysterious stranger once sold me a magical set of armor. His price was my own flesh and blood. I graciously accepted, for I would sacrifice anything for king and country."

    >"I still remember my own horrid screams as I donned the armor, blood pooling at my feet as my flesh was consumed, and my soul bound."

You are Sir Hadrian Blackhand, a knight who's soul was bound to a suit of living armor. You have spent the last few centuries being entombed in the ruins of your former capitol thanks to a twisted mages dream. Thanks to some foolish Orcs, your term of bondage has come to an end at last, and with your new companion you set out once more into the world that eluded you for so long.

Only to quickly find that the geography has drastically changed, and the tomb city is now a floating chunk of rock suspended high in the sky, over the ocean.

Sadly the stone cliff face could not support the massive weight of a large horse, let alone his fulled plated rider. But thanks to the RULE OF COOL, and your newly unlocked abilities, you are now galloping across the water laughing your ass off.

    CURRENT STATS:

    Living armor (Your body)
    >Regenerative
You can heal minor damage such as gashes and holes punched through
    >Arcane hearing
You can hear significantly better than your average mortal, but even that has its limits for the moment
    >Arcane sight
You can see things that are normally left unseen. (Magic, spirits, ect.) Has its limits.
    >Consume
You can consume things to gain power. The only thing you have tried it on was a normal steel sword.
    >Creation
You gave birth to a horse fueled by the souls of the damned. You might be able to do similar things.
    >Conversion
Your Glaive is now covered in the same substance as the armor, increasing its power tenfold (Can cut through rock, its as unbreakable as your armor. The blade glows a ghostly white)
    >Flames of manipulation
Your newest power. Surrounds your body in flames that you can control completely, even the temperature. You mainly use them for defense at the moment, but you can do anything with them. When inactive, it appears there is a cloud of shadow around us. Mercy also gets this to a lesser extent, it surrounds his legs protecting them. (But a flaming hoof the the face will probably hurt a fuck of a lot more than a normal one.)

    Mercy(Your Horse)
A horse you gave birth to, who has the soul of a young boy we killed a short while after the entombment. Fueled by the souls of the damned who inhabited the ruined city.
    >Can use the flames to a lesser extent
Uses them to walk on water, and shield his legs from harm.
    >No other upgrades

Glaive (Your weapon, no name currently)
    >Converted into the same material as your body.
    >Blade has a ghostly white glow and can cut through stone
    >Same regenerative properties as your armor.
    >Can imbue it with the fire that surrounds you

You slowly stop laughing as you bring Mercy to a halt and take in the predicament you are currently in, while Mercy starts lapping at the water that surrounds you.

There are no notable landmarks around you, save more floating islands, and black clouds far to the east. What sort of calamity could have torn the land asunder like is evident, and you flash back to rising stone walls surround the city.

Mercy is startled by the hissing of the water as you explode into a crimson blaze of fury. But it soon subsides, as you realize the mage my very well be dead after all this time. But enough though, you would rather not be caught in what looks like a storm that approachs.

    >What do you do?

Guy from last night's thread who wanted to consume the steel sword here.

We should investigate the ruins of the orc ship we cannon-balled through to see if we can find out how they got up to the island. Maybe we could use the same techniques they did to get to a new island before the storm hits

    That's about right.

Since we can apparently control the heat of the air around us, create super-heated air behind us to lower its pressure, and use the resulting draft, combined with Mercy's ridiculous gallop speed, to take off. Alternatively, since we haven't established that Mercy uses the same skeletal structure as a regular horse, make like skele-copters and use his (her?) legs to take off.

You realize that the ship you just blew through may have something useful in it, and spur Mercy around and trot back to it.

Approaching the flaming wreckage, you wonder something could burn so quickly when your flames are not very hot at all at the moment, at least not around yourself. Then it hits you that you created so much heat trying to shape the rock. You try the opposite.

A piercing blue flame erupts around you and the horses hooves, the hissing of the water stops, but Mercy starts to sink in. Lowering it even more brings the flames to a very midnight blue in color. Spreading slowly at first, then quickening as you trot forward, a thick sheet of ice begins to form over the surface, strong enough for you to ride on.

wading into the middle of the wreckage, you lower the temperature in the air this time, and soon a small patch of dark clouds start swirling above you pouring rain down on the flames.

Taking up a gem, you think back to the sword you ate before, and decide to consume it.

Just as it enters the clasp of the black tendrils, you begin to feel something.....something strange. It begins welling up inside you until...UNTIL! The gem pops out, undigested. It seem you cannot consume this type of gem. Upon closer inspection, your vision tells you no magic at all surrounds it, perhaps that had something to do with it?

Feeling a slight change in the air, you briskly turn around, only to see the gaping maw of razor sharp teeth flying straight towards you.

Stepping backwards, your foot catches in a fallen plank and you fall flat on your back. Gazing up at the white behemoth flying at you, time seems to slow down. Perhaps this isn't so bad? You have live far longer than any man should have to endure, committed atrocities that can never be forgiven. A chance to finally die. Letting your consciousnesses fade away slightly, as substitute for closing your none existent eyes, you are jarred back be a rather... unpleasant pressure from your side.

Looking over, you see that in your fall, your cloak went the opposite direction, with the inward side facing your aggressor, and now said aggressor was lost halfway to his tail IN the cloak.

Resolving that you need to find out what has happened to the world while you were locked away, you spur Mercy into a fast gallop, leaving a frozen ship and a trail of frigged ice in your wake, you ride towards the darkening sky, and even darker clouds.

What awaits you? You have no idea. What shall you do with your earned freedom? You are conflicted in that part, but what you do know is that now you will live by YOUR rules, under YOUR jurisdiction, and none shall tell you otherwise.

Gripping the reigns of Mercy, you ride faster still, before anything else, you have questions that need answering.

I hope you guys don't mind me timeskiping a bit, until something important happens, otherwise its really just you riding across the ocean, facing off against oceany things.

It took about a day to reach under the blackened clouds, and a little less than that before you were in complete darkness, save your baleful blue flame and visor.

Reaching the end of the second day, you wondered if it was to late to turn back, as you had just escaped one eternal darkness for another it seemed, when you notice that there is an orange glow on the horizon. Riding towards it, it continues to grow in size, until it covers the entire horizon in a bright orange glow, and it was obvious to you what it was. Fires. Thousands of them.

The way was clear. You had not been long back into this world, and you most certainly didn't want to have it ruined by some gelatinous fire elemental trying to convert this place into the plane of fire.

A chilling fury overtook you. If this thing wanted to play with fire, then you shall be its antithesis. The temperature dropped so low around you that our flames all but disappeared, only to be replaced by freezing air and cutting winds.

Feeling the impending wrath of its master, Mercy himself whipped into his own fury, freezing blue ice shooting out from his hooves, the protective blue flame replaced with a swirl of white mist and freezing moister, a flame all on its own.

You spur the mighty beast, charging faster than you have gone yet, leaving a glacier covered in pure blue fire in your wake.

You will gladly ride into the open embrace of hell, Where there is a elemental, there is a mage nearby. Maybe now you can get some answers.

Far surpassing the speed of any magical beast you had previously seen, Mercy continues building speed tirelessly, and your own cold hard fury has been building continually over the passing days and was not evident to you until you looked up an noticed a forming maelstrom over you head, heralding your arrival, and looked behind to notice the few sea creatures that had survived the ever increasing heat floating in the water after having their lives sapped away by the cold.

It has been getting increasingly hotter as you approached the landmass, that you now make out to be a twisting mass of volcanic rock, formed from the many jutting peaks of volcanoes that surround the land. You wonder how so many got there, when the elemental overhead spat out a ball of molten rock with a loud CRACK.

It must have ruptured something in the surface under the sea when it was summoned. No matter.

By now you were roughly 10km out from the shore of a volcanic beach, but thankfully your physical presents is concealed by the thick white fog that hard started forming when the searing heat and bitter cold started combating each other. It was quite obvious that something had come to the island.

You get your first good look at the area. The "mouth" of the elemental seems to be situated over a central point, with what appears to be a jagged pillar cut out of some mountain long ago reaching up to just below it, and you think you spy a platform carved into the rock coming out of the pillar. You also note there are lights viable in the crude windows carved into the sides of structure. Someone was home.

The stone structure was surrounded by several volcanoes, the tallest of which reached right up to about 3/4 of the way up the side.

Dismounting Mercy, you lead him over to an overhanging, out of the line of site of the structure.

He seemed very anxious, and honestly, you couldn't blame him. He was still the soul of a young boy, dead before his time.

Placing a comforting hand on his long black head, you try and sooth him.

    >"STAY PUT. WAIT UNTIL I CALL YOU."

Turning away, you take a step forward, before turning back around once again.

    >"IF YOU WISH TO HELP, KEEP PUMPING OUT THE COLD. I SHALL BE BACK, I PROMISE."

A flash of a boys eager smile goes across your mind as even more fog starts pouring out from under the horse. You would have cracked a smile if you had the means. Slinging your Glaive over your shoulder, you briskly, but quietly make your way towards the stone structure, using the towering mountains as cover. Although the viability was not necessary at this point, as an impenetrable white fog not surrounded everything in the proximity of your frosty highway, and through yours and Mercy's combined efforts, that fog was rapidly expanding.

You continue on your way until you find a path, cut out into the stone in-between two of the towering volcanoes, peering down the way, you see two humanoid shapes in the distance.

You think you hear thunder crack in the distance.

Reaching out with your arcane senses, you try and determine who, or what you are dealing with. Your vision reveals nothing, meaning they are not magical in nature, but your hearing on the other hand hears nothing. No rapid pulse, no breathing, just silence.

Approaching as silently as you can, you advance to a mere 10 paces away from the figures only to have your phantom stomach wretch in disgust. They appear to have been....something humanoid and living before, but now at that remained was charred corpses, burnt beyond all recognition.

The sick thing was the poses they were in, these two were dressed in some kind of rotted silk finery, ruined by the ash and ages, they were poses in a way that suggested that they were sharing some kind of joke, one pointing in the direction travelers would come from.

Tracing the length of the path, you find that horrid parodies of a noble ball go all the way up the path, right to the door of the structure.

    Things could get interesting.

Hefting your trusty glaive, you march with purpose to the dead mages tomb, the corpses freezing and shattering do to the sudden temperature change.

Past elderly, mothers, father, sisters, uncles, brothers, and infants you pass, each one shattering in your wake, each shard adding to your chilling vengeance. In death the fallen shall server their purpose.

reaching the large stone doors, you jab the butt of your weapon into the ground and take control of your savage winds and its deadly cargo. Upwards the fog spiraled around the pillar, soon covering it completely. The trap was set.

We sacrificed everything we had, our bonds with friends, family, loved ones, our very flesh and blood in order to save our kingdom.

The force of your kick was possibly a little more than it needed to be, but it exploded off its hinges all the same sending bits of shrapnel in addition to the icy daggers.

Striding purposefully in, you a greeted with blood curling screams and cries of anguish. The loudest of which coming from the guard that was positioned in the base floor, which luckily for him didn't have any windows. That did not save him from the large stone door falling on top of him.

His legs are trapped under the door, blood is pooling under him as he weeps at the protruding bones from one of the legs. He goes deathly silent when he sees the approaching crimson glare following the burst of fog, and gapes as a black steel giant looms over hims.
