You are fighting the unholy fusion of the Idea of Evil and Erebus, more or less confirming the idea you may have been underestimating the scale of the Ebon Night's power.

You have given the order to the Indefatigable's commander NOT to fire on the monster again with its makeshift reality-emitter beam. He nods, grimly.

"It's... your decision. In that case, I will be guiding the ship down. It's out of this fight. Good luck. You'll need it."

The Indefatigable begins to land as the VFs launch clouds of missiles, and the dropships, battlemechs, destroids, and artillery open up with everything they have. Missiles, particle beams, lasers, gauss cannon, rockets, and autocannon rounds all soar towards the monster...

Ha! Try and DBZ your way out of that barrage.

    Well fuck.
    Indefatigable: Shut down the emitter!
He's force feeding us our own concentrated reality stabilization and that is causing the problems with your systems!

Damn, Federation tech isn't hard sci-fi, it can't withstand stabilization of that magnitude!

Guess ejecting the core wouldn't help much at that point.

If this battle fails though. The Inde's orders are to overload the core and go to warp straight down Evils' throat.

Don't forget the Blaster bombs! :)

Right, with that done, we've got Guts, Darius, Lyla, the P4 kids, Knights Inductor for meatshielding, a bunch of White mages, Abjurers, and Aurors for buffing and support.
These are to directly combat the Evilbus.

The Delta Greens, X-commies, /tg/ recruits, Psions, BLU team, Undead hunters (if they're down here), native japanese resistance forces, Tosh, and Star-Lord are to ensure nothing interferes with the kill team.

The Mechs and Air Force may use their discretion on what to target. Probably just outlying Apostles, since firing on the Evilbus risks hitting friendlies.

Indefatigable, try to land in the Park or enter Orbit, so you're not touching down in the middle of Apostles.

    Right, let's get moving.

A horrible shriek echoes across the sky as huge gobs of flesh are ripped from the monstrosity. Though it caused the shut-down of the Indefatigable, it appears the reality-beam had at least SOME effect.

A VF has grabbed Guts and is standing by, the Al'Kesh is loading up the kids now. Darius and the rest of your ground forces are requesting orders.

Given no order to cease, the Valkyries swing around for another pass while the artillery, destroids, dropships and battlemechs keep up the withering storm of high-tech firepower.

The ground beneath the Hellstars suddenly explodes in a fiery shower of magma and molten rock. A rift in the very earth swallows the warmachines whole, though the Mad-Cats are far away enough to avoid damage and the Destroids are able to move out of the way before the earth caves in underneath them as well.

The remaining machines expel another round of death before the word comes in. The MRLS are out of ammunition and are beginning to pack up and move back inside the dropship. The Overlord crew is requesting orders. Stay on the ground and support with fire, or lift off?

The Al'Kesh has arrived on the scene and is ready to deploy the kids. The VFs with the other forces are ready to deploy. The final question is this. Where will you intercept the monster?

    Horrible crapsack Darth Thermonucleus world:
Was made of bossfight and firing everything. We planned our asses off to get there.
We talked to Ahriman. So we solved that bossfight with words.
    Silent Hill:
    Words, then fighting. Always.
It was like falling down the stairs forever. We did eventually win with a massed attack.

Those are based on Xen wildlife? Was that stated in an interview or something? I figured that they were modified natives from other worlds that the combine already conquered.

My impression of the Combine is that they're an interdimensional megacorp that exploits primitive worlds and sells their natural resources. Their army is actually a pretty small, paramilitary force, compared to the actual "national" armies of their society. Basically, the Combine is the Dutch East India company, and Earth is some little tribal island with the misfortune to have gold.

1 x Ka-Bar OTEC AK/VF-M9 Assault Knife, 1.65m, super strong material reinforced by pin-point barrier system (mounted under left arm shield block)
    1 x pin-point barrier system
4 x armored heat sinks (mounted two each on the right and left engines pods; includes built-in Phased array radar)

So have it come down so that the field may help a little in the heroes' battle while everyone else starts cleaning up and packing up, not much more they can do now. Meanwhile the Relentless takes up the role of keeping the Acolytes out of the park.

The attached tendrils blacken, wither, and fall away from him as Elaine casts Esuna, cleansing Guts of whatever the Idea tried to infect him with.

The Knights continue to shower the shadowy form of Erebus with their bolters, the monster's regenerative and damage-deflecting capabilities pushed to their limit from the barrage and broken as the Personas exploit openings created by the ceaseless attack. Quick question. Can Abjurers create any Anti-Magic fields or such?

If so, then perhaps one of the Abjurers not casting protective spells can help negate the huge dark energy ball attack by centering an anti-magic field on it. Or a Magic Circle against Evil spell centered on the orb.
    >> Anonymous 12/24/11(Sat)22:09 No.17324586
Antimagic Fields are centered on the caster, and only in a 10-foot radius. He would have to charge Erebus for it to be effective.
The Magic Circle Against Evil requires that the caster touch whatever the Circle will be centered upon.
    >> Anonymous 12/24/11(Sat)22:11 No.17324608
We also need to know what the current level of our Abjurers are.
They got a level-up from Raccoon City, which would put them at Level 9 (unless it was a greater boost than a single level). That would make them still incapable of casting Antimagic Field, since that's a 6th Level Spell, and they can't cast spells of that level till they're L11.

The Magic Circles are already up. The Wall of Ectoplasm is opaque and putting in between any of the combatants and their target will effectively pull them from the fight. The Intellect Fortresses go up as planned, halving all damage from psionic sources.

Lyla and the nameless mage both summon Holy on the dark orb. It seems to shrink a little in size, but still continues to grow despite the bombardment.

One of the Abjurers manages to cast Feather Fall just in time on the space marine that falls. He will survive but cannot help in this battle. All four Abjurers are occupied by casting the spell this round, nullifying what would've been an instant death attack for four of the space marines when more vein-tendrils rip from the fleshy hide of the Idea and cast more soldiers of the Imperium into the air. As even more tendrils begin to erupt from the 'ground', the attacks on Erebus falter for a moment as your troops stop to destroy the threat around them.

Erebus utters a shrill shriek from its twin mouths, and a gigantic bolt of lightning crashes down on Darius, dropping the mighty marine to a knee.

The dark orb begins to crackle with power, seemingly about to burst...

With extraordinary reflexes, one of the Psions throws up an Ectoplasmic Wall around the dark orb before it detonates. This quick move, along with the weakening of the orb earlier is enough that the resulting explosion of dark deific energy only wounds everyone fighting, though the resulting injuries are rather serious. Darius himself barely avoids death, weakened as he was. Elaine manages a Cure at the last moment to restore him to health before the attack goes off. It is almost certain that without the wall to contain it, there would have been casualties.

Guts roars a battle cry as he brings his sword crashing down on one of Erebus' heads, the Dragon-Slayer cleaving through shadow as if it were solid flesh. The creature roars and shakes with fury as that head shatters and explodes into a dark mist before fading, leaving a stump behind.

A wave of dark blue energy washes over the assembled opponents, severely wounding everyone as it both chills the bone and melts the skin. Four space marines are consumed by the attack, writhing in agony as their armor, then their skin, then their flesh melts into nothing. After a few moments, it is as if they were never there. Even to those who live, the pain is enough that their attacks momentarily cease. Only Guts and Darius manage to continue attacking, and their assaults are batted aside by the monster's claws.

A card appears in front of Yu Narukami, the protagonist of Persona 4, depicting a heart. He touches the card and his Persona vanishes, replaced by a beautiful woman in revealing clothes with large horns. She gestures and everyone's wounds begins to seal, healing them to full health.

So I don't know much about the Idea of Evil, but Erebus in P3 can be beaten down, but not defeated or killed permanently. It had to be sealed to prevent it from reaching Nyx and ending the world, and that required the World arcana.

Three of the VFs peel off and begin to head over to the hero-fight area, transforming modes as they go.

A barrage of magic missiles soars towards the monster's heart along with the energies of two more Holies. The combined energy blasts the heart, causing it to shudder and crack. Its beats begin to speed up frantically as the Idea's surface begins to shudder.

The VFs and X-COM fliers have managed to carve out huge swathes of the creature's flesh while it is focused on the hero battle, but its massive size keeps it in the fight. The VFs have only lost two fighters during this time, both to the pilots suddenly and inexplicably seizing up and crashing into the ground at top speed.

Guts and Darius leap for the heart, but both are stopped by huge bunches of tentacles that sprout up from the ground to restrain them. Undeterred, they begin cutting through as the Psions use Deceleration to hinder the movements of the other tendrils.

The remaining space marines begin to take aim at the heart, the shots that land blasting holes in the things as cracks begin to form in it.

Erebus retaliates by spewing dark mist from the stumps of its necks...

The Psions comply. The flow of mist is slowed and lessened, but continues, regardless.

Three space marines, the nameless white mage, a psion, and an abjurer all suddenly gasp and fall over, dead with no apparent cause. Lyla and Elaine attempt to drive back the mist with Holy, but it vanishes of its own accord shortly after.

Mass after mass of tentacles begin to rip free from the Idea's body and restrain your troops, trapping soldier after soldier, hero after hero, until no one is free. Then the VFs arrive, dive bombing the area and transforming into mech-mode to stab at the damaged organ. One of the VFs is torn apart as huge vein-tendrils emerge to physically rip the mecha apart, but the other manages to break free with a clever application of the pinpoint barrier. It throws its mecha-sized combat knife at the heart. The gigantic blade impales Erebus and severs the heart from its body, the cracked, leaking, and shaking vessel rolling forward to tremble and quiver on the fleshy ground.

Then Ishtar vanishes, the tendrils trapping her fading back into the heart as Yu touches another card, straining through the fleshy cords holding him.

Izanagi reappears in front of Yu before soaring towards the damaged heart, jamming its polearm into the damaged organ. The blade pierces the heart of darkness and explodes, causing Erebus to shriek in pain before falling limp and slowly starting to melt.

"Hey, Yu! I guess you're a real heartbreak-GAH!" Yosuke is cut off as the Ideal Evil speaks. The crimson sky begins to flicker back to its normal state as the fleshy outgrowths covering the buildings and ground begin to recede.

Only two can be raised in the precious seconds the White Mages have. They choose to resurrect their comrade first, and a nearby Psion second, not having the time to look for the others.

The Al'Kesh swoops in, accompanied by the rest of the VFs in Gerwalk mode, and a group of the X-COM Veterans who actually flew up this far. As the ground falls apart around them, and the heroes of the day follow it, they are caught, one after the other, by mecha, soldier, and dropship. Only the dead fall to the ground below. Not a single person is lost to the unexpected calamity.

You have failed to offer an alternate solution.

That's because the idea is that we don't break the news. We don't tell them anything other than we're going to discuss it after we have all of our equipment recovered, which should take the rest of the day, and get them checked out by our medical team, which could eat up more time.
Then we'll only tell them that we will get them home but that it will be a bit to arrange everything.

There's no need to tell them anything beyond that.

ANON: Take those upgraded sensors you have and see if we can spot any mild distortions or irregularities in Tokyo now that the mists are gone.
We're looking for any other foreign canon elements left behind.

Chances are that they are all crossover copies, just like everything in that last linchpin crossover hell.

We gave the order to start gathering our shit up before the last stage of the battle even started. We aim to get out of here quickly. We're tractoring up the big bits and having the VFs grab the rest. Infantry already grabbed their dead and wounded when they loaded up.
We don't lollygag here in the Transpace Guard.

How do we get to the Hellstars, which are buried in the ground and can't be beamed up because they're too big?
    >> Anonymous 12/25/11(Sun)01:01 No.17325721
    in pieces, unfortunately

The Persona kids aren't going to see our recover operation. How are they going to know how long it takes? It's not like we're going to let them off of the Al'Kesh to take part in the recover op.
We can stall them for a minimum of a day and a half, probably closer to two days. Then we just tell them that it'll take more time to arrange their transportation home.

Turns out the Defiant-class does have one cargo teleporter.
Once we get it running again we can beam them out one by one. Do site to site to the Relentless, let the machine shops see what can be done.
