Greetings /tg/, this is an elaborate troll in the guise of a quest thread.

    It's also a psychological experiment.

    >Our story begins.

You wake up in a room. It's a room with no windows, and only possessing a single door. The bed you lie on is a basic bunk, with no blanket or pillow. You can't remember how you got here.

Actually, you can't remember much of anything.

What do you do from here?

Look around. Are we clothed? Do we have pockets? What are inside them?
Take a quick double check of our situation.

    and then open the door.

    >> QuestGuy !ivOi6Ft6qI 12/21/11(Wed)18:46 No.17292652

You check the door, and find it's unlocked.

Opening it reveals an empty hallway, a quick glance reveals two T shaped intersections at either end, and the hallway itself is roughly 30 feet long.

The doorway you just stepped through is the only one in sight.

Deciding to err on the side of caution, you approach the balcony.

Getting to it, you realize it's more of a half-wall with a window. Down below you see what looks like the entrance plaza to the building you're in. There appears to be one of those inlaid logo things on the floor, but you can't make out what it is.

You're at least 6 stories up, looking at the inside, and you notice stairs going up and down to your left and right, respectively.

Investigating further, you discover it's more or less a mirror of the other side.

When you get to that sides stairs however, you almost think you see a flicker of movement across the way.

Knocking yields no response. Only two doors are unlocked: in one, you find a lab of some sort. Various types of machines. also inside is a closet, that seems to have medical scrubs as well as a lab coat, and a pair of slippers. The cloths are ever so slightly too large, but a quick tuck or two and they're serviceable.

On one wall is a large monitor, which has the room you were in displayed.

Or you think it's the same room, but you don't remember seeing any cameras.

The other door seems to be some sort of janitors closet, with exactly the sorts of things you'd expect to find in there.

    [Interesting logic on the coat]

Taking a moment to look around, you see a couple of dead-end hallways, and locked doors. However, you do find your way to a semi-open office area with cubicles, as well as several rooms around it, visible through glass.

    Possible choices for investigation:

A few. Only one sharp one though. There's also an assortment of other silverware, a single burner stove, a box of strike anywhere matches, and some food in the fridge.

The lounge is more or less what you expect, some chairs, some books. Generally just an area to relax when on break in an office.

You notice a newspaper on one chair, mentioning some construction project, a local sports team falling apart due to some misunderstanding with hookers, and a mention of a local lab complex dropping off the grid.

The date is listed as July 17th, 2012.

Notes about various test subjects. Most of them seem to be human judgeing from the notes.

Most of it seems to be a bit too high concept for you to understand.

There is an interesting note: "Subjects seem to experience extreme paranoia after waking. Most begin to randomly do things seeking some sort of stimulus. Some have been recovering from the enhancements better, and are able to think and reason clearly. All however, seem to retain no memories of their past life, odd considering that their personality seems more or less intact. The idea occurs to you to take some for one sinister purpose or another... but it passes quickly. That'd make you look like some insane movie slasher. If nothing else, there's a lack of half-naked teenagers to make that a viable plan.

The thought makes you giggle nervously, and somehow makes the scene easier to bear.

After taking a minute to steady yourself and push back the urge to puke, you look around the room.

There's a body here. More or less. It looks like it was a person at one time, but it's been ripped apart so savagely it's impossible to tell who they were or what they looked like. Across the walls it looks like some sort of insane geometry and symbolism. Staring at it too long makes your eyes start to water a bit, so you try looking at other things. The computer's destroyed, the desk has been ripped in two....

And there's something small in the corner.

    It looks like a wallet.

You're in decent shape. You have roughly shoulder length Auburn hair. your skin is slightly pale, but not unhealthily so. Looking closer, you have a few very methodical looking scars on your arms, legs and parts of your torso that you can see. Not unsightly, but definitely present.

You don't feel different, or at least think you don't.

You're pretty sure you're normal, but you also aren't entirely sure where 'normal' is.

Striking poses and saying code-phrase like things do nothing.

See, that's an important distinction that I hoped to learn, my good man.
It means that her knowledge is limited. This, we were not completely sure of beforehand. It also means that her knowledge of, shall we say, "obscure" facts are gone. Her personality, and basic knowledge remains, but higher learning is vanished.

Even if she knew how to do it, but didn't, we'd learn something about her personality.
I'm paranoid because of his mention that it's "a troll thread in the guise of a quest"

Do we know the Sigilum Dei/Deus (whatever) and you're just keeping us from it because it's BAD END, or do we not know it and are you just telling us it's a shit-tier idea?

Also, think of the implications if God exists! That means there's definitely something fishy about this, because God existing means something for the plot, obviously.

OR you could be stringing us along, making us think this was occult when it's mundane!
    They're divine, not eldritch

I'll let it lie if no one else wants it, but I think it's a good idea (in terms of plot) to do it.
In terms of survivability it's fuck-tarded, though, mostly because it'd require our focus IN A ROOM WHERE SOMEONE JUST GOT KILLED

Probably gonna spring up as a mech-zombie or something, and eat us if we do it.
    Or God'll smite us
Either way, it's a good idea if we want to learn a bit about the plot the fast, paranoid way

You go to the little lab area in the office.

Inside, you find beakers, tubes, and various other things.

There are scattered notes, some of them seem relevant to your interests. "modifications seem to work much better in female subjects. 97% of Males have rejected them in one way or another, while the women are almost a perfect 50-50 between success and failure. Still unacceptable, but progress."

"Had to euthanize another one today. It seems like we're shooting very a very narrow window here: if the female is prepubescent like today's subject, we have a 100% fatality rate. Either because of the side effects of rejection, or because it's a mercy after what happens. However, in the late 20's/early 30's the brain's developments and connections are more or less completely done, making for equally futile efforts. The target window for the best results is 16-21 then, since we have to almost 60% survival."

Alright, so mental enhancements. I suspected as much when I realized we haven't come across a mirror yet (if we had, we would've been able to see scarring, and lack of hair on our head).

Now, try to see what the other notes say.

Collapse into her arms, wracked with sobs of fear. Why are we here? What's with the scars? Who am I? You're not going to kill me, right?
    >> Anonymous 12/22/11(Thu)03:01 No.17297494
'Hmmm maybe we can get a bit more intimate if you teach me some things'

This can only end in win.
    >> QuestGuy !ivOi6Ft6qI 12/22/11(Thu)03:02 No.17297502

She grins slightly wider when your arms wrap around her.

"The doors? That was me. We all can do that. Well, something anyway. The last one of us i met was a telepath. Poor dear went a little bonkers before i met her. She latched right onto me because i was the only one who cared.

so did OP die or something?
    >> Anonymous 12/22/11(Thu)03:08 No.17297555
It's working, we're getting some info out of her. Now, let's try to not push it.
"Do you know anything about me? I don't want to suddenly blew myself up... or worse. What about you? What's your name... sister?"
Guys, don't call her by her name, the most info we can get and the least they know we know the better.
    >> QuestGuy !ivOi6Ft6qI 12/22/11(Thu)03:09 No.17297558

She seems surprised by you sudden outburst and tries to comfort you, somewhat awkwardly.

"Hoo boy, lotsa questions i can't answer. I'm probably not gonna hurt you unless you give me reason to. You're like me, a sister brought here by circumstance. Who you were before... no idea. i don't know me either. Don't even know my name. The scars... are from cuts? I don't really know. You're here because you made a good target. Apparently, whoever we are we were the sort of people nobody cares about or would miss." She winces a little at her own choice of words. "Man, i suck at this comforting thing. Much better at the torture and the murder."
    >> QuestGuy !ivOi6Ft6qI 12/22/11(Thu)03:11 No.17297569

[No. it's just hard to type, read all responses, and post quickly. I'm doing my best.]
    >> Anonymous 12/22/11(Thu)03:13 No.17297577
Shall we tell her, her name?
    >> Anonymous 12/22/11(Thu)03:15 No.17297598
    sorry about that OP,

This is just an awesome quest and I became impatiant
    >> QuestGuy !ivOi6Ft6qI 12/22/11(Thu)03:15 No.17297599

"I know you're here. I know that you don't have much in the way of power yet."

She smiles and gently strokes one side of your face with her hand. "That actually means a lo- oh."

She left a bloody streak down your face. Looking at her lack of anything to wipe with, she offers to lick it off.
    >> Anonymous 12/22/11(Thu)03:17 No.17297619
    Accept the offer.

Why not play along? It can only help.
    >> QuestGuy !ivOi6Ft6qI 12/22/11(Thu)03:18 No.17297624

    [It cool]

    [Up to you, really.]
    >> Anonymous 12/22/11(Thu)03:18 No.17297625

Wipe the tears, breathe deep but don't let go just yet.

"I'm just so glad I'm not alone..."

Gently try to escape her hold, don't struggle too much if she resists.

"So what now? Shouldn't we get out of here or something? I've got to get to a doctor, I read something in the labs about going crazy within 24 hours, that's not much time!"
    >> Anonymous 12/22/11(Thu)03:22 No.17297652
'If it means anything, my name's Katherine [that's right, right?] And your name's Anne [^^^^^] I read it in a lab upstairs.'
    >> QuestGuy !ivOi6Ft6qI 12/22/11(Thu)03:24 No.17297668

She does it slowly, and seems to take entirely too much pleasure in it.

She gives you a reassuring squeeze, and then stiffens at your mention of lab notes.

"You found something? Something about us? Why didn't you say something sooner?"

About a million emotions play across her face, ranging from shock to anger to confusion to a saddened betrayal.
    >> QuestGuy !ivOi6Ft6qI 12/22/11(Thu)03:25 No.17297678

She garbs you by your shirt and pushes you against the wall. "How much do you know?"
    >> Anonymous 12/22/11(Thu)03:29 No.17297707
"Only a few stray notes. They thought you were crazy, sister." Smile. "I know better." Lie.

    >> QuestGuy !ivOi6Ft6qI 12/22/11(Thu)03:34 No.17297742

"They thought I was CRAZY!?! Now I'm glad I killed them all!" She seems absolutely livid, but at least now it's not really aimed at you.

She lets go and you sort of sneak to your knees feeling.... >>17297709

    Oddly aroused actually.

Anne takes notice and throws you out onto the floor, smiling savagely. She collapses upon you and roughly shoves her tongue down your throat....

[Seems like a good place to fade to black and end for the evening. Stick around for the after party.]

    Anna is /tg/ unfiltered
Katherine is with "common sense" applied

I'm willing to pick this up again on Monday or Tuesday if you guys are willing to play. Same time ish, though I can't say it'll be for as long.

    Questions, comments, concerns?

I've actually mapped various types of psycho-scapes. If you think anything that tame's gonna happen, you're in for a wild ride.
    >> Anonymous 12/22/11(Thu)04:45 No.17298198
ooh, psycho-scapes. Like mindscapes but 20% more "fun"!
well I suppose it was ourselves who kept us from drawing blood signs of God.
