But that's gonna be changing. Last thread we went to see some people about learning to help Jako, we wound up training for 3 weeks to that note and for self-improvement. So let's make some magic.

Naruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the jutsus, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole ninja faggotry and everything about the Naruto world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.

Naruto is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to /a/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Naruto threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.

    My suggestion for nindo.

    >With these eyes, I see my path. With these fists I will defend. As long as their is breath in my body, I will never surrender!

The eyes obviously represent the byakugan, the fist are about his general gentle fist style and well the last one is shonen hero moxie.

    >>17143151

Personally, I like the OP's suggestion more

"I will one day control this world. I will never let misfortune befall those dear to me. I will shape this world for myself and those I love."

It's motivated by good intentions, and reflects both the slightly darker and diplomatic aspects of our character.

    >>17143121

The show is that bad. The setting had potential for awesome, and was quickly drowned in bullshit.

Thus, this game was made, where we slowly and deliberately removed all the bad from it.

Eh, I don't like 'I will control this world' a little too..Kira to me.

Maybe more like 'I will reshape this world with these two hands' or something.

    >>17143183

Personally, the 'control' hits the exact right tone for me.

It's supposed to be a little creepy. Our character isn't all loyalty and happiness, he's a cunning conniving motherfucker who thinks the world needs to change dramatically.

He's currently gaining personal power and gathering friends. Inari is the next step, and currently the biggest obsticle between him and his (currently vaguely defined) goals. How he goes about trying to resolve this situation is probably going to be a character-defining moment.

He might make a turn for the better or worse, but right now it reflects him as he is: Trying to fix things, not afraid to get his hands dirty, trying not to drag others down with him.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)12:02 No.17144352
    >>17143204
While I agree that in comparison to, say, Shimaru, Shingen is a conniving motherfucker (admittedly, not saying much since Shimaru's solution to fighting a living god was to hit him with a sword till he dies), wasn't our original concept and Shingen's motivation to prove that even though he's from a Branch House that he can surpass the Main House?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)12:06 No.17144391
    >>17144352

    Shimaru: Tactical Genius.

Really though, it was an evolution of character. He wanted to prove his worth in the clan, but as he grew in power and ability, he started taking a broader view.

His clan still matters, but so does a lot of things.

I have a feeling that once we settle things with Inari, things are going to kick into over-drive.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)12:13 No.17144447
    >>17144391
    I suppose.
Though I would think that our failure in how we handled Inari's situation 3 years back would force Shingen to re-examine his choices for repercussions far down the road, and introduce doubt into whether his control would actually be for the better.

You couldn't save one girl; how do you expect to save the world?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)12:21 No.17144514
    >>17144447

He acted emotionally, and panicked immediately afterwards.

In retrospect, 'save the girl' was the correct instinct, but he fucked up on the follow-through by panicking and running away.

Just so you know, our back and forth is pretty much on the exact level I'm seeing his internal conflict at.

"Did I fuck up because I wasn't good enough, or because the idea itself was flawed?"

I have some.... interesting ideas for some long term goals, depending on how the Inari situation pans out.

    >>17144514
    >In retrospect, 'save the girl' was the correct instinct, but he fucked up on the follow-through by panicking and running away.
Yes, and that's exactly why he should have doubts as to whether he can handle being a controller, or if it's all doomed to failure.
When it mattered, when it really counted and a person was depending on Shingen, he dropped the ball. He failed, and he still can't fix the consequences of his mistakes.
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)13:03 No.17144909
    >>17144838

A situation he was totally unprepared for.

It should be noted that a lot of this 'manipulation/control' talk was just a theory until said fuck-up.

That could be the event that set him down the road he's on now: He fucked up, goes learns discipline/gains power, returns to find the situation's gotten worse since he wasn't there to deal with it.

If anything, I can only see the events so far only spurring him to become more involved, etc. He might be deluding himself into thinking he's doing only this to fix his wrongs that hurt Inari, but in reality, this is what he's been preparing to do all along.

Hell, this situation with Inari's almost like a.... perfect.... test....

    Mother. FUCKER.

I want to start the construction of our layered signature items, starting with the bandage/bag hybrid vest. On a related note- since the bags are exceptional at hiding their contents, could we weave the bandages in such a way that the bags are hidden as well and take the always armed perk, effectively countering it's weakness?

I'd also spend ten points in blitz to get us to speed rank 3.

Erm, guys, we still need to beat Inari, so let's concentrate on speed and power. Diplomacy won't do us any good if we will be transformed into hedgehog once again. How about taking chakra dimming? As that old man said, there are different ways to beat a man with eyes on his back. But what if you can't see the man, which sees you?
    >> Anonymous 12/08/11(Thu)17:29 No.17147200
    >>17147142

We cannot beat the world down by ourselves.

Our Way already is that of control and moulding of the world into that which we desire. To do that, we need allies, we need soldiers, we need influence.

The last time we ran into that training group from the Earth, no one could do diplomacy worth a damn and we were suppose to be the leader.

The leader doesn't need to be the best in fighting but he must be able to come up with alternate solutions instead of always using a battering ram.

And if we need to capture Inari, we have Jako and our cousin to back us. We can formulate a plan to entrap and outwit her, we don't need to do it just by ourselves.

We already have Chakra Blackout, the top tier perk of the Chakra Dimming tree.

We should increase Diplomacy, but only by a small amount. We need to concentrate on personal strength and speed right now; all shinobi leaders are chosen not just for their leadership, but also their combat skills.

Voting to increase speed to Blitz 3 (10 pts), increase Diplomacy to 3 (3 pts) and create a jutsu designed for detection via chakra. I'm thinking a chakra spiderweb rather than an active and visible chakra pulse.

Listen, I don't want to be skeptic, but how did our recent encounter with Inari end? I can't call it a success. You are right, we have allies, but they are no stronger than us. And we don't need Jako killing delicious yandere. Moreover, we've been training in the middle of nowhere for 3 weeks doing jumps, sprinting and acrobatics - how exactly could we improve our diplomacy?

I was thinking of thin lines of chakra, less than the thickness of a human hair, spread out in a 3-dimensional sphere in a spiderweb-like pattern.
All space inside of the sphere doesn't have to be monitored, like with a chakra pulse; just enough so that a person can't pass through without breaking some chakra lines.

It's more efficient than the chakra pulse, but it has the problem of being immobile.

Maybe it would be best to have both?
The chakralocation pulses can be when we're on the move, and the chakra-web can be when we stop.

I've been calculating these at the base price of 2 points for a ninjutsu technique. If that's acceptable, then we should have enough points that we could get:
    Blitz 3 (10pts) + Diplomacy 3 (3pts) + chakralocation (2pts) + chakra-web (2pts)

Alright: Pro spider people, I know you think the idea sounds cool, but you have to consider the following:

    1. Other than the chakra net, there is absolutely nothing to link us to spiders. Nothing. Remember in the first quest when Shimaru was told that he couldn't learn to summon crocs because croc's style was so fundamentally different It'd never work out?

    2. Our character, stat wise, is built around High-speed Taijutsu, and extreme Chakra control. Please note how this is in no way like spiders.

    3. Our character, Mentally, is a very hands on manipulator. He's not some distant chess-master, he's much closer to a magnificent bastard, and he is by far his own best pawn.

If you guys are so desperate for a summon, you should be looking for one that favors a hands on approach, extreme self control, cunning, and extremely adaptable.

Look, I would be perfectly fine with that, if
    >>17150946
would give some arguments except "Spider are scary - fuck spiders"
    1. Actually, all of our affair with Inari looks like a spiders briding time - we get her respect, we get delicious cake, we get our head bitten off, start all over again. And some spiders don't make nets, they just hunt the prey (as we are doing with Inari), which is actually several times bigger then they are (think about bird-eaters.)
    2. You can think of our charachter like this: He detects his enemy, using his net/locator/byakugan/common sense. He rushes to it( like a normal predator would), he uses his natural weapons to destroy hs enemy the fastest and easiest way. (like spider injecting venom into prey.) and actually, I believe we can make chakra threads.
    3. Agree with you on that buddy.
Even if nobody of us is right, I would like to keep our own fears and dislikings out of the game. I am not very fond of spiders either, but think that it is a good idea right now.

So, lets line out some things:

    3.We Count on our speed.
4.We count on our enemy detection.
    5.We prefer counter-attacking style.
6.We gather a group of strange allies.
    7.We are genius.
    Now the main question:
WHAT THE FUCK ANIMAL/FISH/MOLLUSK/BIRD/INSECT/PROCARYOTIC BACTERIA ARE WE ?

    1. This is a rather extreme stretch. If anything, It would make more sense for Inari to be the spider in this metaphor given our interactions.

    2. The Chakra threads are doable, it's what made the detection web thing seem viable. You have some decent points as to the spider comparison here, but spiders are known primarily for setting up a turf, heavily modifying it to their advantage, and then making people fight them on their terms.

What in the hell part of our running everywhere, working with allies, constant long distance pilgrimages, and over-all personality suggest anything but the exact opposite of this?

It seems to me the more out of our element/depth we end up, the better we do.

    3. Well, we're in agreement, not really much to say. Glad we're coming to some consensus.

Originally, I was the guy >>17150641

here, who pointed out that spiders are in no way less creepy than snakes. If anything, they're much, much worse.

As for the personal fears thing... I personally, don't like spiders. I actually have borderline arachnophobia. So, fuck spiders.

On the other hand, I know that we need to be true to the character, and if those eight legged bastards WERE the best way to approach all this, I would endorse that course of action.

The fact that I hate spiders, and the fact that I don't want them to be our summon are two separate facts that actually have nothing to do with each-other.

In the time it takes us to summon something, we could already be up in our opponents face. If we summon something faster than us, I'm still willing to bet that Inari could riddle the thing with needles before it could do any sort of real damage.

If we get a summon it has to be something Inari can't disable or outright kill within the first three or four rounds of battle. Even then I'm still skeptical on the matter.

Hey Guys, I have an idea:
According to the anime and manga - chakra is a combination of persons experience/memories and physical fitness, right?
I don't know how is it called, but sometime we got a technique, which allows us to steal chakra from people if we successfully hit them, right?
Basically, we are stealing their experience or/and memories, right?
Of course everything is not that easy, we still need to convert chakra back to memories.
Why don't we make such a UA, which can allow us to see somebodies memories, and probably learn their techniques, hm?

Second, I suggest putting a single point into Chakra Control if 5 points is enough to up a stat.

As for our UA, I would suggest we take that reflects our focus:
"Kissed by the Spider": Due to careful study and application, you can force chakra around areas paralyzed, burning 2 chakra for every turn used. Your over powered chakra network also expands your senses, allowing you to detect via any logical means - Scent, Audio, Tremor Sense.

I'm assuming you're the memory steal guy.

The chakra comes from balance of body and mind, physical ability with mental discipline. It isn't literally made of thought and memory.

Saying slapping someone should give you their memory is like saying you once ate a bird, so now you have the power of flight.

It's so far beyond ludicrous that I'm actually having a hard time putting it into words.

The idea of stealing someone's Chackra does sound interesting, and could even be considered a sort of extension of the Hyuga clan's extreme chackra manipulating ability.

    Yes.
Early on in Naruto, during the Chunnin Test, one of Sasuke's opponents ,Yoroi, had a skill that could leech chakra from Sasuke by grabbing him.

Jirobou, of the Sound 4, can also steal chakra through physical combat.

The bugs of the Aburame clan , can also steal chakra.

    It is, however,a rare skill.

There are several very compelling arguments in the thread about our character having a very potentially dark side.

Besides, I don't think it's something we're going to be using to such an extent that it's immediately obvious what we're doing. Remember, our clan's power comes from manipulating and sealing chakra. They might think that's all we're doing, unless we just start to RIP AND TEAR.

Even the most powerful genjutsu user in the series so far, has only been capable of putting a soul to eternal sleep, not destroying it, or consuming it- and that was Itachi, with super-unique-genjutsu weaponry the Totsuka Sword, alongside Susanoo.

There's been little evidence that soul manipulation or destruction of any higher type is possible for anyone other than Nagato, and the Sage of Six Paths.

    ...

Speed is good guys but those two things are absolutely vital to our survival here. We've got two UA's here right? So how about we change null stance into a speedster stance? We shutdown our genjutsu and ninjutsu techs but in exchange gain speed rank +2 or something that scales with how much we pay. Maybe even keep the chakra regeneration in there but it gives us a bit of speed.

For the other UA Reactive Chakra was suggested before and I think that would be damn useful to counter our senbon woes. "if you fail a defensive roll against an attack roll your rank targeting chakra. If you achieve as many successes as your opponent's rank you may spend a point of chakra to repel a ninjutsu or taijutsu based attack.

Free replenishing Chakra pool mid combat?
Potential to severely limit power of the opposition?
Logical next step for our potent Chakra sealing/manipulating abilities?
Potentially attacking a more powerful for by taking all his Chakra away and then hitting him in the face with it in a single massive jutsu we couldn't normally perform?
Sheer intimidation factor of the enemies realizing that their opponent is eating their very souls to power attacks used to destroy them?

I'm having a hard time thinking of a downside to this technique. Done properly, it's a game-changer.

And honestly? From what I've been reading from this quest, us having to fight Madara is a very real possibility. if he's even ten percent as powerful as in the main series, we're going to need to start preparing for that worst case scenario.

    >Also we can still talk about UA's. I've heard some good ones. Wrath of the White Eyes is on the right track, but needs some tweaking.

If we go Blitz 3, as we seem to be wanting. We get 3 partial actions per turn. Additionally people without speed sight get -3 against us, and we move 3*Taijutsu distance.

Blitz 2 only makes us lose the extra partial action. Now, is it vital, in the collective's eyes, that we have those extras?

    >>17152537
Like adding a Grit Tax, which is a reduction in the amount of Grit we gain, since it's so powerful. If we did that I would also suggest amping it a little. So...something like...

Wrath of the White Eyed: You enter a place where your training takes over, your prodigious mind supporting your muscles and your conscious takes a backseat. All foes take a -2 penalty to dodge or counter your attacks and you gain a +2 pool bonus for countering with Gentle Fist. Additionally you can use any Gentle Fist Jutsu immediately after a successful critical hit at no cost. Lastly, your enhanced chakra system maxes out your body's functions, increasing your Taijutsu by 3 for the duration of this UA. Costs 4 Grit to start, 1 Grit/Turn.

I vote for something not totally out of nowhere like vampirim, or likely to literally kill us by further Blowing out our own chakra network.
So, I suggest this, Heavenly Cobra Stance:
Shingen almost completely suppresses his own chakra in order to gain greater focus and control. While in this state, he easily converts his body's chakra to the lightning element, and uses extremely focused burst of it through his body to essentially supercharge it, gaining absurd boosts of speed and power for short periods of time.He could also use this mode to send a weak jolt through his body, essentially shorting detrimental effects on him by doing so.

So Crunch wise Im thinking: Shingen's chakra pool becomes effectively zero on entering the stance, but he doesnt fall into chakra exhaustion.Since his max is 16, he gains 4 chakra at the beginning of his turn, and any left over empties at the start of the next turn before refilling again. In return, he get a speed rank of 1 higher then whatever his normal would be prior to entering the stance, and a +1 to attacks, dodges, and counterattacks, as well as giving a -1 to anyone trying to detect him. Once per turn he can spend a grit as a free action to remove a detrimental effect from himself.

We might want to add in some kind of lightning based modifier to our gentle fist attacks too.

Those some people are wrong then. It's outright stated at least three different times that since they see chakra flow, they're effectively immune because they see and understand how it works. In D&D terms (Since I don't know this system well yet) it basically gives them like a +20 to all related saving throws once they master it. Completely master it, I should say.

    >Also, bat summons/clones eating enemy chakra assumes that we can find them and act before they find us and attack.

Substitution jutsu, genjutsu lock, bat swarm, chakra share.

Summoned creatures capable of performing jutsus can share chakra with the contract holders, a link that goes both ways. Given the nature of the techniques involved, if anything the bond would be more potent.

Plus we could in theory make it so we can steal a little bit of power with every hit, while more advanced/bigger drain techniques would require more complex actions.

-find way to get alone with Inari, preferably with us NOT in a massively compromised position.

In that order, with the following 'target of opportunity' style objectives, completing where/when convenient/available:

    -Learn vampire jutsus
    -Summon bat shit
    -Kill bandits/robbers/baddies whenever convenient.

That done, you clap your hands together, feeling refreshed and renewed as Jako says, "The Mallard is here, in this town." He says, his nose fluttering, "And he seems excited about something." Sure enough as he finishes these words a plume of smoke rises from the ground as the Mallard steps forward and bows, "Ah! I have encountered stalwart companions to aid me on my travels and have assisted our Senju cousins when the opportunity presented itself. I am now on the trail of those I suspect will lead me closer to uncovering the culprit behind the attacks on our family. If it is simply another red herring so be it, but I will do my utmost to remove this threat to the fire country and society at large regardless of its involvement with that affair. I can not be assured that this letter will not be intercepted so aside from that I can say no more, less I give my quarry an edge I cannot afford.

My thoughts are often of home and I strive to do you proud. I feel that in a short while I will have achieved the goal I set for myself at the start of this quest. Once completed I shall return once more to aid both you and brother in whatever ways I can. Perhaps then we can look once more to future endeavors and greater horizons.

Heading back to town seems like a bad option, so you head the only place you know where you can go. The cave where you originally saw Jako's handiwork was well lit and you head into it, laying her body out on the table. You begin your autopsy at the neck and immediately notice something horrific. A second layer of skin, epidermal skin, rests under the main layer. Your hands tremble and you feel ill but as you pull at it you see, with disgust, the woman's face is not her own. Removing the outer face you see the woman beneath is a completely different woman. HER face is twisted in horrific agony.

The Sharingan are real, however, and as you feel around her skin only her face was treated like this. Her body was similar and the effects of whatever was done to her made her seem the right height. Someone did some real hack work.

This woman is not, in any way, Inari. Her sharingan aren't even the same, these are simple two tomoe. This woman, however, has the tattoo of a black widow spider on the small of her neck. An exceedingly clever dupe. One you would have missed were you not willing to perform the autopsy.

Personally, I'm not sure how to feel about this. Given the immediate and violent backlash to her apparent death, we'll never know whether this was the plan all along, or if he just pussied out of killing her.

I'm inclined to believe the later if Madra had absolutely anything to do with her interrogation (which, given the circumstances, he almost certainly was), because his mastery of the Sharingan was so complete they actually evolved into Rinnegan.

    Highly suspect at best.

    >>17154077
You proceed to check the body's various effects, skin temp, hair, checking for anything odd. You are about to give up before taking out a kunai and scraping under the finger-nails. You see a layer of fine green residue, dried liquid you would guess, on her nails. Curiously you scrape the rest of her fingers and gather a reasonable sample. You put it on a scroll for safe keeping and roll it up.

You lay the body in a safe place and reverse the explosive tags you place on the limbs and torso. Igniting them they burn the body, and the tags, to nothing but an unrecognizable pile of ash. Clean and efficient.

The eyes are kept safe in a glass jar in your medical kit, suspended in salt-water. As you leave the cave, your friends probably off celebrating with the Mallard, you feel something, someone.

Arms are around your waist as you hear a voice, very soft and pouty, whisper, "Awww...did little Shingen worry about his Inari darling?" The voice is instantly recognizable, and you feel the sensation of her hands, one on your pectoral and the other right over your liver, tracing little circles with her senbon. Her lips press against your neck as she whispers, "Because I missed you too. I didn't know you became my little doctor as well, such a smart man you are, Shingen." She says and, inevitably, you feel her press the needles against your skin as you shift in the slightest, "Oh, don't move darling, we have so much to talk about."
