    412 KB Fairy Warband Quest 12 - Entire Quest Recap Narrator !!0z97bVlxXCQ 12/04/11(Sun)23:53 No.17110106
    Entire Quest Recap
You are Trixie Buttercup, fairy warband leader. Fairies are made of magic and immune to harm from all sources but magic and magnets. Upon their deaths, fairies burst into sparkles that other fairies can use to increase their own power.

Your warband has evicted an opposing group from their tree, which generates fairies. After moving in, you researched putting fairy sparkles into beetles, a queen bee, and a drone (rendering them magical and obedient, and causing minor physical changes). You also began to dig straight down, after suspecting that the source of the tree's magic was underground. Eventually, you discovered a shiny, brittle, rock-like object of indeterminate size, which you believe to at least relate to the magic's source. Aside from certain setbacks (a giant, murderous worm, several cave ins, and swarms of blobs streaming forth from a crack in the shiny thing) the magic hole has led to some important resources (a medium sized magic mushroom farm, a great deal of magic giant worm leather, and shiny thing shards).

You have just returned from Freeport, an independent trading colony with a small core population and a great deal of temporary residents.
    >> Narrator !!0z97bVlxXCQ 12/04/11(Sun)23:53 No.17110113
The week in Freeport goes by peacefully. You unload most of your remaining goods.

The fairy who was your neighbor asks to join, provided she can keep her chain of command within her group.

You aren't sure if trying to arrange a meeting with Melusine Featherglow is worthwhile, or even beneficial, but the choice isn't yours to make. When it's time to leave, you're herded into a line, and one at a time, a light brown skinned, yellow haired fairy with translucent, fluttery wings checks the exiting fairies' tokens. When it's your turn, you see her take the sphere, pop it open, unroll a dried piece of leaf inside, examine it, and set it aside. She waves you through.

Back at the tree, things are fine, if a bit of a mess. Bloomstar reports increased activity from the crack in the shiny thing, 2 bees, 13 new girlz, and three sparkles.

You tell Bloomstar to hurry it up with the fairy delivery system and then take a nap.

    Sparkle count: 8

If the visiting fairies are a good sample, your group is in very good shape. Also, though no fairies were quick to volunteer information on their whereabouts, the population density might be higher around Freeport than your tree.

The good news is that the Freeport guards let fairies leave individually, with enough time between departures to make following each other impossible.

The ones who had them also seemed the strongest, so this is a good guess. They were also the most important, so you didn't have much of a chance to talk to them.

perhaps we should release them into the wilderness, on the edges of our territory. if we cant find a use for them, and they're getting to be a problem, the best answer is to make them someone else's problem!
    >> Narrator !!0z97bVlxXCQ 12/05/11(Mon)01:23 No.17110692
Wibble proposes that she be sent off on her own, invisible, to ambush any group she thinks she can handle. She expects an increased share of any loot she manages to capture. She also thinks it would be fine if you came, since you can turn invisible too.

Twinkle wants to organize, or at least be a part of, a decent sized away team. It is her opinion that you could stomp around near Freeport and loot wild groups, or try to attack patrols from the Dark or Royal fairies.

Bloomstar just wants to test the fairy delivery system on someone hostile. She doesn't care who. It's getting to the point where she can launch girlz nearly as far as the first watch post and land them safely.

You could also set up a regular caravan to Freeport.

    >>17110651
This is tempting. They won't be much of a threat to anyone, but it might be funny.

You load up some backpacks with bland mushroom and head out with Wibble, Twinkle, and six girlz in tow.

A little over a week later, you encounter a group of crudely carved wooden heads impaled on sticks. The sticks have spikes on them.

This is probably the right general area. How do you want to proceed?

Not all of the fairies have the benefits of invisibility, but you motion to Twinkle and the girlz to hide, and they scurry off. Then you take a closer position, a few inches from Wibble, and invisibly release some blobs.

You have nothing to do but wait and watch blobs. Neither is very interesting. The blobs eventually manage to clump up together, except for one, which gets stuck behind a leaf. After about an hour, you hear voices. There's a group of fairies on a path perpendicular to yours.

"...but Twilight didn't want to. So we held her upside down."
"Twilight's boring. Why'd you even bring her?"
"She's the only one who can convince Belladonna to let us do anything."
    "Yeah. Hey... what are those?"
"Blobs? Here blobs! Here little blobbies!"

The seven fairies encircle the blobs.

    "I don't think they're paying attention."
"That's rude. I'm gonna stomp on one!"
She does. It pops. They laugh.

Now that the dark fairies are close, you can get a good look at them. They look like regular fairies, but their clothes are covered in spiky bits. They also seem to prefer to have either lots and lots of hair, or practically none.

You retreat temporarily, letting everyone know the plan one at a time. The ones who can shift position without being noticed do so.

Then you kick a blob and run. If a fairy trips over you, you're caught, and you're trying to make them move around suddenly. The fairies shout and chase the blob.

Most of them circle around it tightly, but a few straggle behind. They're all within the wide-semicircle formed by your forces, though.

I'm going to start making a map assuming that the ambush starts now, and change it if people want to hold up.

You approach. The fairies scream and stomp on blobs. As you creep closer, the leader says "Wait, what's that?" and sniffs the air. Then she points to you. "It's a trick! Ge--hrk!" The jig is up anyway, you might as well.

    >SNEAK ATTACK: DENIED

Twinkle and Wibble take down one of the stragglers, and occupy the attention of the other.

The girlz charge out of the brush with a mighty "Yeee" that far outpaces their actual capability. They jab ineffectively at the closest fairies.

Gonna do enemy phase separately. Dice.

The leader unsuccessfully attempts to pull the garrotte away from her neck and successfully makes a choking noise. Her closest underlings try to help, but you kick one away and slam your shoulder into the other, maintaining your position without giving anything up.

The remaining straggler swings at Twinkle, who steps back and uses her halberd to keep her at a safe distance.

The remaining two fairies charge the girlz and knock down two immediately. This does not discourage those that remain standing.

You inform the leader that she should surrender and then nearly tear her head off. Then any sort of resistance she was putting up goes away and she disintegrates.

Wibble dodges and pokes at the closest fairy, allowing Twinkle a free shot. Then she finishes off the nearby downed dark fairy.

The girls advance. Every possible location the dark fairy they surround could possibly exist in is full of sharp, magical objects. She looks terrified (and unsteady).

Wibble and Twinkle's fairy stands up, unsteadily, and makes an awkward, flailing swing.

Your two fairies go for the grab, but you grab them first and dodge out of the way, and they have to spend a moment untangling themselves.

One of the girlz gets grabbed and headbutted to the ground. The other one falls down holding her stomach. The remaining two are very unhappy, in a way that is directed entirely at their enemies.
