79 KB SMITH QUEST, part 8. Indonesian Gentleman 11/22/11(Tue)21:50 No.16995490
    Last thread:

We're Quin Fuller Smithsson, the daughter of a renowned blacksmith (at least around these parts), and right now we're preparing for the escort mission. It just happens that the person we're escorting is none other than GNeutered, gladiatrix manager extraordinaire. She's about to go back to her home tribe, and we're asked to come along with her.
"So, remind me again why we're coming along?" Dahlia Slicks (formerly Kendall Slicks) the human rogue asks.
"Bloody bollocks! You started it, and you know it!" Llywelyn MacAran the Elven Mage replied.
    "What?"
"Your black eye isn't gone yet, and you've already forgotten the panty incident?"
"Now, now, girls, settle down." Hertzog Gobsmacks the Half-Orc Paladin intervened.
"We do owe her the favor. Besides, it appears that GNeutered is now a friend of Quin here. A friend of a friend is still a friend."
"Yeah, well, are we gonna pack up for the trip, or not?" You quipped.

So, now comes the inventory-choosing part: what will we bring with us? Keep in mind that our bag can only hold 100 items, discounting weapons and tools, of which we're only allowed to bring one.

Inventory: 38 mineroach carapaces, a cave Bas hide, 3/4 bar of copper and 3 bars of pig iron as smithing materials. Other than that, we also got 10 coal, 5 hematite, 2 chalcopyrite. 5 slabs of wild boar bacon, 4 wild boar tusks, and 2 wild boar pelts. 2 Bear pelts. 5 Wolf pelts. 1 Deer antler. 20 wolf teeth. 1 mineroach queen carapace breastplate. 15 beauty-enchanted mineroach carapace trinkets, 5 plain mineroach carapace trinkets. 2 healing salves.
Weapons/Tools: 1 pig iron warhammer (+1 accuracy), heirloom wood-chopping axe, heirloom mining pickaxe.
    Wallet: 3Gc, 20 Sc and 7 Cc.

By the way, the market's still open, so you could buy some supplies if you wish.

Keep in mind that our bag only holds 100 items. We have 59 items in it now. You could wear the breastplate to free up space in the bag, though.
And what would we bring, for tool/weapon?
    >> Anonymous 11/22/11(Tue)22:35 No.16995876
    >>16995846
we can only bring 1 right? I'd go with the axe.
is Quinn proficient in wearing the carapace breastplate?
    >> Taffer 11/22/11(Tue)22:36 No.16995886
OK, since we are on an escort quest and the person we are escorting can more than take care of herself, let's make it into a trading trip to an untapped market. HUZZAH, MERCANTILE PROGRESS!!

This is what we will bring for trade
    2 wild boar bacon
    3 wolf pelts
10 wolf teeth (These three could sell there but the gnolls should have some, due to their hunters. Still we can get a small profit from them, and better than no profit.)
    1 bar of pig iron
    4 coal
    10 mineroach carapace
10 beauty enchanted mineroach carapace trinkets (These should be sold at a slightly higher than normal price. Well only if the gnolls don't have an in into the mine.)
    Warhammer
    healing pots (for defence)

Well, I guess it's apparent that EVO quest isn't coming back. It seems I'll just have to settle for "this".
    >> Anonymous 11/22/11(Tue)22:39 No.16995922
hm, maybe bring the deer antler too, that might be worth a good ornament or a multi-resource for knife handles and such

Well, sure, the breastplate would fit. Axe or warhammer? Although the axe is just a wood chopping axe, it helped us kill some wolves and some boars, though. I'll post Quin's skills after this post.

    Anyway, shopping trip!
Since it's morning, the market's bustling with housewives buying groceries. The market is a kind of open market, where you could 'rent' a spot to sell your wares. One spot is 10 copper a day.
You see the medicinal herb vendor from before, a potion salesman, a few fresh produce grocers, among the hustle and bustle of the market.
    Decisions?

    Skills:
Basic smithing - 5/5: You know smithing by heart, because your dad taught you to the best of his abilities.
    Metalsmithing - 5/5
Weaponsmithing - 4/5: you learned some weapon making from your dad, but haven't actually used said weapons enough to get the right feel for them.
Alcohol tolerance - 4/5: you first drank ale when you were ten, but well, time (and volume) would still get you.
Hammerwielding - 3/5: well, you know how to use a hammer properly, but not as a weapon.
Pickwielding - 4/5: apparently you know how to use picks as a tool and a weapon.
Axewielding - 3/5: you know how to chop wood, but not how to chop enemies.
Polewielding - 1/5: you just learned how to use polearms and quarterstaffs from GNeutered.
Mining - 3/5: thanks to Uncle Grum, you know how to look for metal ores yourself.
Enchanting - 2/5: you just learned the basics with Llywelyn. You can enchant a ring now!
Drawing - 3/5: sometimes, in your off time, you like to doodle. Sometimes an order needs some careful planning. You're no Da Vinci, though.

I'd like to go to the fresh produce. I do love me some fresh produce.

Welllll, bring the warhammer and buy a few bottles of booze as a gift, I figure. Booze and cigs have always been an icebreaker and a getting to know somebody gift thing, and we got no cigs.
    >> Anonymous 11/22/11(Tue)22:50 No.16996037
oh also... is Llywelyn with us? can... can we be like a married couple doing groceries?...

    ...silakan abang? ^_^
    >> Anonymous 11/22/11(Tue)22:51 No.16996050
my order of things would be fresh produce > herb > potions

You saunter over to a fresh produce vendor, a woman in her 40s, who doesn't look burdened by her fat.
"Well hello there, ma'am! What would you like to buy this fine morning? I've got some fresh beets!"
You ask her about the produce, and got these prices:
    -beet: 5 Cc
    -carrot: 3 Cc
    -spinach: 5 Cc per bunch
    -potato: 1 Cc
    -onions: 2 Cc
-chicken meat: 5 Cc per piece
    Buy/Sell/Go to another vendor?
    And oh, conversions: 1 Gc = 10 Sc = 100 Cc.
    >> Anonymous 11/22/11(Tue)22:59 No.16996124
    >>16996080
    ooo
    -carrot
    -spinach
    -potato
    -chicken meat
totally delicious makings of some good ol' chicken shoop.

    >> Indonesian Gentleman 11/22/11(Tue)23:11 No.16996227
    >>16996142
    That'd be 6+3+15+40 = 64 Cc. We hand over 6 Sc and 4 Cc.

    Wallet: 3Gc, 14 Sc and 3 Cc.
Inventory: 15 beauty-enchanted mineroach carapace trinkets, 5 plain mineroach carapace trinkets, 2 healing salves, 5 slabs of wild boar bacon, 4 wild boar tusks, 2 wild boar pelts, 2 Bear pelts, 19 mineroach carapaces, 1 mineroach queen carapace breastplate, 3/4 bar of copper, 3 bars of pig iron, 2 carrots, 3 whole potatoes, 3 spinach bunches and 8 chicken pieces.

    >>16996034
Thinking that the Gnoll tribe would probably like to have some booze, you go over to the potion salesman. A thin man in a big cloak, he grins when you get close. "Good morning, sir! May I interest you in alchemical curiosities and various potions?"
Looking closer, you can see he's got quite some vials strapped on some sort of belt. His moustache is thin, and his cloak a bit ragged, but his teeth is gleaming.
    Decisions?

Seems like a 51 wasn't enough. I've got to be at a lecture in 15 minutes.

Still, I'm glad you haven't given up on smith quest. Your timing is rather unfortunate for me, though.
