Last on 404'd before we got it off the ground, shouldn't have started on Halloween. Anyway, last thread, what little there was of it, is here.

    http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/16804283

Rules and IRC are the same as ever. Let's do this bitch.

    Shingen Hyuuga
    Genin

    Injury: 4/8/16
    Chakra Pool: 4
    Chakra Control: 4
    Ninjutsu: 4
    Taijutsu: 4
    Genjutsu: 4
    Determination: 4

    Traits-
    Kekkei Genkai (Byakugan)
    Prodigy

    Skills-
    Gentle Fist Style
    Taijutsu Knowledge
    Ninjutsu Knowledge
    Intimidation

That's what we've got so far. As for UA and jutsu we're still on the fence, but we're working on it on the IRC, come join in on the discussion.
    >> Sketch 11/03/11(Thu)01:02 No.16824228
So far for techniques we have the following from irc as possibilities:

A Genjutsu Technique that scares the shit out of whoever we target causing them to flee in terror (Using Intimidation in place of Genjutsu Knowledge)

A ranged attack that is just throwing out a wave of chakra to create a long distance punch.

A melee attack that will maim the victim and cause their allies to freak out.

A dedicated defensive technique that has no element but deals no direct damage. It's primary purpose is to counter enemy ninjutsu.

A Chakra Compression UA that allows us to store double our chakra but at a cost. In order to access our chakra we must spend an action unlocking it, each point unlocked grants 2 chakra. After our turn is over if we have more chakra in our pool than our Chakra score we take damage.

Another UA idea was Reactive Armor. Anytime hostile Chakra got close to use a pinpoint explosion of chakra would head towards it.

    >>16824228
Reactive Armor needs a little definition, but that could be a very useable technique. Blasts back physical assailants unless we allow them close. If that's how we wanna flavor it.

Compression is very interesting as it lets us segue into the high-chakra techniques without having a silly huge chakra stat. I would say it costs 1 Grit to activate it, but that's all the cost I'd put on it. Compression doesn't win fights, it helps though.

My personal vote goes to Compression for being very interesting in flavor and having a lot of room for growth, though RA has the same, if you flavor it right.
    >> Anonymous 11/03/11(Thu)01:15 No.16824337
    suggestion:

    Surging Wave –
    C: 1
    D: N-1
    R: 3
Effect: May substitute Ninjutsu with Chakra for damage at an additional -1 damage penalty.
    >> Anonymous 11/03/11(Thu)01:24 No.16824403
    >>16824319
if we can let's learn Reactive armor as a Signature Technique. If not let's take it as a UA later down the line. It's likely to be expensive so we should focus on something a little more reserved for genin rank.

    Voting for Compression.

Alright, so here we go. Looks like Compression is the accepted UA and Sketch's suggested Jutsu are good. We'll discuss the finer points over time. For now, we need some actual roleplaying.

You have spent the past four nights on watch with your elder brother, Kumomaru, whose distant expression and lackadaisical attitude you felt didn't befit a Hyuuga like yourself. Despite that, he was only a few weeks away from testing before the Elder for the rank of White Squire, an honorable distinction to be assured. At the moment your hands are together, eyes scanning the horizon as he is apparently drifting to sleep.

The packet of soldier pills you threw away a day ago suddenly gives out a crinkle as you begin to cry out, when suddenly your brother is in motion and throws someone to the ground. It's a member of the Senjuu Clan, an ally Clan of yours, bringing a message. Kumomaru laughs and pats the messenger on the back showing him towards the camp before looking back at you with a grin, "You will need to be faster, no matter how smart you are, little brother."

Your replacements arrive and you follow your older brother towards the center of the village where a large temple has been built, the Grand Dojo. You lead the messenger through the labyrinthine hallways to the center where the Elders are having a ceremony, which you are immediately sure to not interrupt, remembering the last time, as does your forehead.

You are finally allowed to enter when the Clan Elder, the Primarch, and his Brother of the First Branch, are all seated side-by-side and listen for the Senjuu's message. "Honorable Hyuuga Elders, I come bearing word from General Tobirama Senjuu that a large movement of samurai have been detected nearing your village. As per your desires, we have not dispatched any military, but I am here to give you forewarning on the matter. They number at least a hundred or greater, your Lordships." He says, the Patriarch, your uncle, narrowing his eyes as he nods, "Thank you, messenger, your warning is well received. Tell your master that I am grateful and will remember his gesture." Excusing himself the messenger leaves as the Patriarch speaks, "Kumomaru, you wish to achieve the rank of White Squire, then today is your chance. I wish for you to take a detachment of our clanmates to these samurai and defeat them roundly. You may bring warriors of your choosing." Kumomaru bows and thanks them before excusing himself.

As the two of you leave he grins, excitement showing in his pale violet eyes, "I can't wait, a chance to prove myself." he says, shifting effortlessly into the Hyuuga Battle Stance, his chakra welling up evenly as you were all trained and his blows fast, light, and accurate. He was clearly a far sight above you, at least at your current standing.

He gives you a warm smile and rises, "That's a good man. You'll make the clan proud yet." he says and undoes his bandage on his forehead, the swastika mark burned brightly on his forehead as he walks to his small room in the complex and dresses for battle. Unlike most of your contemporary clans the Hyuuga enter battle dressed in little more than flowing robes. This allows for greater fluidity in your elegant martial art, but also allows truly amazing Hyuuga to use the snapping and motions of their robes as both a distraction and a shield. Kumomaru wears a black sash around his waist, as you do, the mark of a Novice. Assuming success, he will return with a white sash and will be permitted to cover his mark in battle as a sign of growing more close to the Main Branch.

In a few minutes he and twenty of your clansmen are all standing together and he gives you a final smile before moving with great speed away from the compound. "There you are, Shingen!" The voice of your father calls out to you as you turn to see the man waving you close to him with a smile.

After a brief bit of dialogue you manage to harass him into taking you the river-front, your favorite training spot, where the two of you spend the afternoon meditating, eyes shut, using your Byakugan and chakra sensing to jab fish as they jumped in the water, eat scale you were able to peel off a fish earned you a treat from your father.

Not only do you punch a fish in the face, but you are able to gather five scales in a single flurry of blows. Your father actually stands straight up in surprise, "Shingen....that's amazing." he says, opening his hands to show you the six he was holding. "I guess you really are the prodigy everyone says you are." he says with a proud smile as he crosses his arms, looking every inch the picture of calm pride before breaking out into a rolling rich laughter, "Bahahah!! I'm such a lucky father!" He says, teeth clenched in pride as he holds back his emotions, "Shingen, let's celebrate. For tonight we will speak as adults, and if you so desire, you may drink with me." he says and taps the gourd of sake tied onto his belt. As he does that you remember his moniker, Atsushi of the Trembling Fist.

It would cut slightly into your time table, but a little cutting corners wouldn't hurt.

You head south as quickly as your feet can carry you, your shinobi movement not very practiced as you clumsily jump from tree to tree.

Eventually, however, the sounds of battle are audible to you and you hurry. Taking a perch in a tree you see your Hyuugas surrounded by knots of twitching and beaten samurai whose weapons scatter the field like grass. A group of samurai on horseback charge towards the Hyuuga, one of whom is your brother, but with a flash of his eyes and a thrust of his palm the horsemen are knocked clear off their horses, the horses themselves knocked over onto their riders as Kumomaru grins proudly, leaping like a true warrior into hand to hand, dodging clumsy and slow to your eyes attacks one after the other before striking a man in his larynx.

Samurai have no chakra detection skills, and your clanmates are otherwise focused.

Your weak Byakugan perceives the battlefield well and in a surprisingly short amount of time your brother stands tall alongside the young woman from the Main Branch who he brought alongside him. They prepare to move out as a whistle of arrows comes through the air. There must be at least thirty, too many to strike down, and so your brother enters a low stance, his breathing slowing, as he reaches out with his chakra and strikes, "Two Palms, Four, Eight, Sixteen, Thirty Two, 8 Trigrams: 64 Palms!" He calls out as he blasts the arrows away with his forbidden Main Branch technique, breaking the last one in front of the third child of the Main Branch.

Fire it into their midst. See if he can't take that opportunity to escape. If he doesn't try then he's resigned to his fate and we'll respect his wishes. If he does, we'll help him from the shadows.

Your speed is impressive as you arrive at the border of the Aburame lands, something you can immediately tell by the slightly horrific sight of thousands of chakra signatures crawling around in a single person. It's truly scary for you, and some of your clan members can't help but lose their stomachs at the sight.

Hours pass and the Aburame clan seem to be very insular, spending a lot of their time just reading or practicing their art alone. However, suddenly, they all get up and move at once, distant signatures arriving in the distance, and you detect thousands of other signatures, more insects, enemies.

The two Clans meet in a brief clash of arms and a huge explosion of insects which claim victory over a shinobi when they engulf his body and leave a dessicated husk, dried of chakra and moisture. Eventually the Aburame Clan and their foes part and seem to make conversation, however, your Byakugan detects a straggler trying to stage a sneak attack, coming up close to you. The low steady hum of at least fifty bees sounds in your ears as the man pauses, "Hmm? There's prey here?" he asks and looks around, his bees flying all around the area, trying to find you.

As you shake your head, the pain ripping the genjutsu apart you see the Uchiha has taken their mask off and is revealed to be a girl your own age. She gives you a cheeky smile and waves before vanishing in a flicker of motion. As you recover yourself you see that she cut with her kunai something into your arm, "I am Inari Uchiha, remember my name."

We can't let anything impede us, return to the clan complex immediately.

Well, at least we aren't dead.
And I think this will be a good time to develop a Rival perk.

    Bandage wound, return to compound.

You return to the sounds of great celebration as your brother is heralded as a hero who saved the Main Branch's daughter from certain death. He currently sits by the side of the Patriarch for the evening and food and drink is passing around freely. You report to the Second Branch member who passes a fleeting congratulations, the night's focus on your brother's promotion, one of the four White Squires in the entire Clan.

If it's needed, get our arm treated.

Then attend the celebration and congratulate him on his achievement.

I'm not sure if we should bring up what we saw with him. If we do, don't do it here. But yes, congratulate him on his promotion.

Yeah we should see up close if everything is as cheery as it seems. I'd bet the member of the main house was willing to overlook his trespasses so long as he proclaimed loyalty to her directly. It would be best if we kept the information to ourselves, if we tell him she can force him to tell her what he knows with the seal.

Oh and as soon as the festivities are done, it's time for some anti-genjutsu training.

Keep it to ourselves, and if we need to use it we will. I don't think we will though, but just file it away for later use. Anyway, quietly watch everyone after we get fixed up and eat something.

    Agreed on all points.

And make sure to get those cuts bandaged. No need to show off that we were utterly humiliated by an Uchiha girl.

Also worth noting that we weren't supposed to be there in the first place, so bringing that up might get us in a little bit of trouble. I doubt it will be much but its still something.

That's why we keep it under our hat unless we need to blackmail someone. And, in that regard, get bro and that main-house girl together. Because if he marries into the main house, I think that means we do too.

    >I think that means we do too.
No, it would just be him.
He would leave our Branch House and enter the Main House.
We still need to prove ourselves good enough to get into the Main House on our own.
And one up that Uchiha girl.

    To do list:
    Learn to counter Genjutsu
    Show up Inari Uchiha
    Rank up to main house
    Show up Inari Uchiha.
    Continue Being Awesome.
    Destroy Inari Uchiha.

Well if he marries into the Main House with our help, he will likely view us favorably.

So, sketch, anymore Shingen art on the way?
Will we get to see our bitter rival (even if she doesn't know it) Inari Uchiha?

And did you ever finish those Raikage fight panels?

We should work on making White Champion by then. A wedding into the Main Branch and a promotion into it for us? At the same time?

    Auspicious.

    1) Yes. The op image was actually just the first thing I threw out, I was intending to poll the IRC and thread for what Shingen should look like. So I definitely plan on doing more.

    2) If the opportunity presents itself and she becomes a reoccurring character sure.

    3) Got sidetracked pretty hard so I'm still working on it. But here's a preview.
