Your name is Damien Rollfaec. You are a Captain in the Death Korps of Krieg. The 321st, finest in the subsector. You command the second company. The second only has three platoons, and two squads to each platoon. Currently you are stationed on the planet Marcia. Marcia was once controlled by Rogue Colonists, people who attempted to flee the light of Imperium. When the Imperium arrived here, the planet surrendered and it was brought under Imperial Rule.

Currently, you were sent on a mission to find a weapon cache inside a rural suburb. After ordering your men to spare no one, you saw that none of civilians were armed. Then as you tried to as Command for new order, Rogue PDF attacked your forces. Elements of the fourth company were dispatched to your position. Cont'd

The fourth company sent three Chimeras to support you. The enemy PDF has been identified as Traitor and not from this world. The Chimeras flanked right, as soon as they did, one of them exploded. A Lieutenant screams over the vox, "They have Krak missiles what do we do."

From your current position, you can't really tell what's going on, a few buidlings are blocking your view. The battle seems to be in your favor, and the Chimeras have bolstered your men's chances of surviving.

Once the enemy bites and starts firing heavy weapons at them, we send in the infantry elements.

    >They have heavy bolters, but It still works.

The Chimeras encircle the town. The enemy in either a blood rage or a moment of pure stupidy charge the Chimeras. They climb over them and try to pull the hatches off. One of the PDF traitors explodes because he held his grenade to long.

The infantry easily picks off the traitors. The enemy retreats, heading to the north, towards the mountains. Lieutenant Reiter asks you, "What shall we do now Captain."

I assume it will take roughly quarter of the day to reach the mines on foot, it would be worth knowing what the conditions will be like when we get there - night or day, weather patterns, etc.

Load up the chimeras with the wounded (4th company has probably set up a field-triage center where we're going), allow the men to offer condolences to the two troopers who died, but we're leaving the bodies behind.

Strip the recently-returned Chimera (a Fresh unit, if I recall) of any non-essentials, including munitions, leaving only armour (and not really necessary on the rear, at that).
Fill with as many explosives from the mine area as possible, along with any others at our disposal.
Advance on the enemy base, and while the majority of our forces make an assault on their left flank, have Avis break formation in the stripped chimera and assault their fortification head on, detonating at the gates and tearing a hole in the gates while the main force peels of to regroup for a second frontal attack on the base while the enemy are still scattered.
Avis may be a poor officer, but her death in the service of the emperor will be a glorious one.

While we're in this position consolidating, it's about now your platoon sergeants and CSM would be redistributing rations, water, ammo.

How are the vehicles for fuel, ammo, was any damage sustained?

We came out on a simple patrol to find a weapons cache and now we're out overnight. Are we likely to have to be resupplied by air? Does regiment or higher have the resources for that?
    >> Anonymous 10/01/11(Sat)20:17 No.16488325
We should send out a scouting party, made up of either a single or two squads. Have them advance slowly, and carefully, towards the mountains, to see if any enemy reconnaissance platforms can be found. If their are none, we should be relatively safe from artillery. If spotted, they should take note of the outposts strengths and report back to us, personally. Regardless of what they find, the vox should only be used if they come under heavy fire. We need to keep the enemy unaware of our plans.

In the mean time, is there any way we could call in some sort of fire support or reconnaissance by air?

As you slowly advance though, you can see concrete bunkers with artillery guns inside of them. Those aiming these guns, have the skill of blindfolded orks. Not a single shot hits your main force.

Avis's Chimera rams straight into one of the Bunkers. She jumps out the back and rolls down the hill. Running after her are about 12 Traitor Guardsmen.

Rolling to find out if there is a fleet carrying Cyclonic Torpedoes or Virus Bombs in the system, in case we need it later. This may turn for the worse.

This is my chief concern right now.

If it ends up going this way i'm for bugging out and fleeing the system.

You are a GOD for going along with the autocannon, thought it might seem I was taking the piss a bit :D
Got the idea from a story my dad told me as a child about strapping Hindus to the fronts of mortars centuries ago so they would reach heaven in a fine mist, based on a belief that you arrive in paradise in the state you leave earth. Terror tactics at their best.

There is no fleet in the sub-sector that could carry out Exterminatus. Also, I should note, that none of your men, not even Reiter or Avis know about this, you interrogated him yourself. And he just keeps laughing, and laughing while attached on the auto-cannon.

Reiter says, "Sir can I just shoot him, I don't think I can even hear myself with all his crazy laughter."

I'm gonna' go ahead and suggest that we prepare our men, set up a good perimeter. If we have any weapons that can be taken off of the Chimeras and placed somewhere, then we should do that with half of the armaments we can. The rest should be left, in case we have to make a hasty retreat.

Along with this, we should send out four squads, paired, out a bit of ways to set up recon outposts. Perhaps have a Chimera go with each, for a hasty retreat if they spot enemy forces.

Sound like a plan. However, Avis is a Captain and has proven her worth, and so it is her right to know the situation first. Furthermore, if the officers are to leave the defenses, I would like to know a competant officer is holding the fort - let this be another test of Avis' abilities. We brief her first, leave her in command of the poor bloody infantry, brief the officers, update Avis on the outcomes of the briefing, ask for her views and offer critique. If we catch a bullet, the men will answer to her. We don't want to risk their lives in the hands of an incompetant, so we must better her and better her fast.

Avis understand exactly, she nods and walks off to lead the troops. A few minutes later a few Lieutenants file into the room. There is Lieutenant Grotter, Lieutenant Ray, and Lieutenant Reiter.

Reiter: Sir, the heretics could have been here for months. Years possibly. The time spent building these fortifications, it's worrying me.

Grotter: I agree, we should move forward into the mountains. Take the enemy positions, while they still are wondering what is going on here.

Ray: I disagree, we should hold here.

    Grotter: Ray, shut up.

    Oh, and to elaborate on my intentions for Avis;
Our first meeting showed she has determination.
The suicide charge showed dedication and respect.
The Leman Russ attack and this current action test her ability to lead.
Finally, we need to know that her determination will not lead her or her men to their deaths, and we must find a chance to explore this. Perhaps then, we can give her some level of autonomy.

I must say, I agree with the majority. The enemy doubtlessly know of our position, and while we have eliminated nearby hostiles, more may approach. However, the Colonel ordered us to hold our post.
It is decided; we plant charges on the artillery loading assemblies so we can destroy them in the event of an overrun. The majority of our force pull back to a nearby location well suited for defense, and the remaining units garrison the undamaged bunkers. Efforts are made to make our occupation of the intact bunkers apparent and make the damaged bunker seem neglected; if we ARE attacked, the garrison units can use the tunnels to flee via the damaged bunker, which the enemy will surely neglect. This will allow them to fall back to our main position to fend off the attack, and later fall back to out properly defended post at the mine. The colonel may be displeased, but at least we can deny the enemy an artillery base and suffer minimal casualties in preparation for a counter-attack.

Most likely someone will beat my roll, but in case they don't - Ray is put in charge of the garrison. If he feels he is well suited to a defensive action, I put my faith in him. Always give the lower ranks a chance to shine.

Hate to do this to you op, given as I'm having great fun (and luck), but I gotta go sleep pretty damn soon. Shop ain't gonna open itself tomorrow. Anyway, tactics:

Do we have incendiary shells for the artillery? Seeing as we haven't redeployed yet, we're well defended against infantry, so we may as well make them hurt. If not incendiary, then frag shells. In fact... do hellfire shells exist? Chaos may not show fear, but we want to make them think twice about moving troops in our area, and reducing them to melted and torn flesh should do just that. Anything that survives should be cut down easily by our defenses.

Also, the sooner we exhausted the artillery shell supply, the sooner we can justify a withdrawl from this god forsaken bunker.

Hah! The lucky rolls finally ran out! If that isn't fate telling me to sleep, I don't know what is. Emperor be with you all, gents. I hope to see a great end to the thread when I refresh this in the morning - here's hoping Avis gets that chance to shine and we all pull through. If it all goes wrong, I'm proposing a bad ending in advance (and rolling for it) - any surviving men mount the chimeras (literally, standing on them holding on for dear life), ideally with us on Alpha and Avis on Ave if they're still kicking. We charge head on into the enemy, and slaughter as many as we can in our own little charge of the light brigade. Assuming this roll comes up well, of course.

And this is only an "if it goes wrong" - hopefully you won't need it ;)
