Gizka might've had worse days, but not in recent memory. Turns out, killing Cardinals doesn't fly too well with the constabulary of Rome.Who would have guessed? In retrospect, fleeing to the Americas would've probably been the better idea after stealing the mask of Zorrino, but hindsight is always 20/20, and the whole vigilante thing just seemed so cool!Fleeing over the rooftops of Rome, Gizka realizes that she won't be able to escape at this pace. She has the advantage of mobility, but the guards have numbers and they know the layout of the city better. She's going to need to kill her way out, instead of running.Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to Assassin's Creed: The Riddle of Steel version.
Assassin's Creed: The Lament of Groins
So, here's the plan: We've got a highly upgraded Gizka, and an infinite supply of mooks in ascending difficulty. The trick here is, I won't be posting /their/ stats until after you've guided our intrepid hero into killing a few of them. This will be the closest thing we've done to an actual RoS game from a player's perspective. The goal is to use move rolls to limit how many of them you're fighting, and to dispatch them quickly before being overwhelmed.Think you're up to it?
Bring 'em on (nards first)!
The fucking slave girlAltair is spinning in his grave.
>>16059837Terrain rolls, awesome, while we won't have stats will we have general info such as do they look like experienced fighters, what armor and weapon do they have, how vulnerable their dick is to getting an epee stuck in it.
SO EXCITED
Bring it on.
Speaking as a HEMA practitioner...How much running away are we allowed to do?
>>16059859Assassin's Creed, so I'd say, All of it
>>16059868Oh, good.WE RUN THE FUCK AWAY FROM ROME.
>>16059868too much will probably get us trapped though, so we gotta run smart.
how about we get to the crest of a roof, use the higher ground for a bit then roll backwards down the other side of said roof to escape! foolproof plan...

>>16059854Oh yeah, the whole shebang. Maybe even allowing Style Analysis rolls to see if they're part of a school, if they look especially tough.>>16059859ALL of the running.>>16059875But where would you run? Down a road? They all lead back there!
>>16059900Clever, very clever
>>16059895So do the vambraces. I forgot to pose the question first:Should we have dear Gizka enter this affair with less armor, allowing her to duck and weave to her heart's content, or with more armor, but lowering her dodging effectiveness?I'll let the audience decide, since you're the ones who're going to have to endure the consequences of either.
>>16059900>Down a road? They all lead back there! What you did there, I see it.We need to get to a boat, of course.
Also Major Accurate, if our opponent doesn't have careful, ALL of the thrusts will hit the groin!!!! Unlimited Dickstab Works!
>>16059913Honestly with Gizka's Toughness if we get hit we're fucked pretty much no matter what, Duck and Weave at 7 means we can take range penalties and fuck them in the eyeballs. It's risky but we really can't afford to go without it.
>>16059913Duck and Weave at progressive is at 7, right? That's totally worth it, scrap the pro-leather armor!
Standard leather. Guardsmen will likely have halberds. DTN 9 is not fun.
>>16059890>TO 3>EN 8>HT 3>TO 3You expect us to survive? For those in the audience who aren't that familiar with the Riddle of Steel, this is the equivalent of Constitution 8. Toughness DIRECTLY SUBTRACTS from the level of the wound you take, so where a Toughness 3 character would take a level 3 wound, a Toughness 6 character would take literally no wound at all.
Case made. I don't want to have to delete that post (I'm not even sure I can,) so let's assume that every place that was armored before, is now armored with basic leather.
TO 3's fine. Did you see our CP? Meisterhauen all day e'rry day.
>>16059930You haven't seen Gizka's last fight, I guess?
>>16059930You've got a combat pool of 26. I've got to do something to make you work for it!
Alright, let's get to it shall we?Three guards, whom I like to call "Type I Mooks," are rapidly approaching, panting their wage-slave asses off.Wasting bullets on these cretins would be... Well. A waste. And a shame. So, should Gizka Move to try and maneuver around them and fight fewer at once?ORShould she take them all on at once?Your decision boys! They look like hacks, but they've got Cut & Thrust swords, and hard leather breastplates, which means they're still dangerous! Sort of!
>>16060004I say toss 5 dice at a terrain roll, we've got CP to burn and if we take them one on one we can win easy, if we let them surround us we will be in a less fun spot. Are there other spots armored other than their chest?
Look for an alleyway that ends in a low wall, we want to force the buggers into single file and take them on one at a time.
>>16060010^This, we have plenty of CP, and if we leave 21 then they have 7 CP each to die from.
>>16060013single file, Ho!>Captcha: The peanrusYes, Captcha, we thrust for the penis, we get it.
>Welcome to Assassin's Creed: The Riddle of Steel version.I love you.
Fair enough! 7 dice to try and outmaneuver the thugs! They each try to catch up with 3 dice of their own.The difficulty for this is 8, as you are facing 3 or more attackers. So, 7 at 8. Even one success (they aren't trying to outmaneuver Gizka yet, they're just glad that they might catch her at all) guarantees that you will face one enemy alone this Exchange!
>>16060069Er, scratch them trying anything, they're way too bad at everything for that.Only Gizka. Let it be so!
Game plan: Offensive response: High Forward Neutral. Thrust to head.Defensive response: Low Backward Defensive. Duck & Weave or Full Evasion.Have to watch that fatigue or we're going to end up very dead.
rolled 9, 2, 2, 5, 8, 3, 10 = 39I heard 7 dice!

>>16060093whoops, messed up. didn't matter though.
>>16060084Ha! I was going to save the fatigue until after it had started setting in! Damn you and your... Knowing the rules!>>16060085Three successes!Gizka leans left, ducks right, and rebounds off of a chimney to face one of the guards, the other two cannot participate.Time to go red/blue people. I can't imagine what your choice will be.
Epee to the dick! RED!
>>16060118RED, we will beat him in initiative handily. Epee to unarmored vital bit, if he doesn't have a helmet head, if the groin is available groin. We've got options people.
>>16060132The Guard, unsurprisingly, throws blue! How many dice will be appropriated to this brutality? Don't forget that this is still the first exchange. Going too fast might hurt during #2.
>>16060118let's throw everyone a curveball and THRUST FOR THE GROIN
if we kill this guy quick but bloody then we might demoralise his fellow mooks, causing them to hesitate or flee!
>>16060139ONLY OPTION IS DICK
I'd guess ten dice would suffice, since we do 6 damage base thanks to the fine smallsword.
>>16060145ARE HIS BALLS ARMORED????? We have 19 dice lying around, lets toss 10 or so dice at his dick if unarmored, throat otherwise unless that is armored we go for his weapon arm.
>>16060147>implying that's a curveball, and not par for the couse
I'm just gonna post this in advance.
Thrust to head. I just realized we can't gain any bonus dice to thrusts to the pelvic region
The man has leather leggings, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that that isn't going to matter much. And we cannot break grand tradition and neglect the groin!Alright people, you know the drill!10 dice at 5!The Guard devotes a horrified 8 dice at 7 to try and jump away!
rolled 10, 2, 8, 7, 4, 1, 3, 2, 8, 5 = 50Goodbye guardsman!Incidentally, I'd like to be OpFor once the stats appear.

>>16060189yes lets stab him in the eye and blenderize his brain

rolled 2, 4, 2, 9, 7, 10, 8, 9 = 51>>160601978 dice at 7
1 degree of success right?
>>16060238yup, 5-4
rolled 6 = 6Huh. 5 to 4. An unusual turn of events. However, that's still a margin of 1, meaning that Gizka inflicts her strength (4) plus her weapon's damage (2) plus her margin (1), for a total of Strength 7 to the groin-ish area.Against his leather pants, that's a level 1 wound. Not tremendous, but the man's willpower probably isn't tremendous.
>>16060252No margin of success Galt, the first success is just succeeding. Wow she just rolled bad and he rolled good.
So he has TO 4. Pretty average. We need to go for a thrust to the unaroured areas next time. That could've been a KO.
no, I cleared that up, official calculation is Winner Successes - Loser Successes. pg 76 to check
Now normally, that'd be Lower Abdomen, and it wouldn't do anything. But thanks to the magical qualities of Major Accuracy, Gizka can move that to the Groin area! (6-2=4)I'm not going to even bother asking if that's your intent. I know my audience.BL: 6S: 7P: 9-WP (7)"Yup... Sorry."The Guard takes 7 shock and 7 pain. Having expended his entire combat pool, he's just his whole next round's worth of CP, and then most of the next.
>>16060268Yeah, I thought that too, but some fellow actually showed me the ruling. It's amazing what some outside input can shed light on.
>>16060289Consider me corrected, thank you.>>16060292He is completely out of dice and we have 9 left, thrust to the unarmored face!!
>>16060292Willpower 2? these guys suck horribad.
>>16060306Finish Him! (Dun Dun Dun!!!!!!)
>>16060307Makes sense.>"Hey, there's this killing machine running across our rooftops killing cardinals. Go catch her. With an unarmored groin.">okayface.jpg
Now here's where it starts getting tricky.Either Gizka must make another Move roll, or the remaining two guards will also be fighting her this turn. And that'd suck pretty hard.So what'll it be? It's easier to evade 2 guards than 3, with a Move difficulty of 6. Devoting even 3 dice to it would keep Gizka fighting whoever she chooses to ruin.
>>16060326We had to burn 7 just to fight this guy alone, and then we spent 10 on the wonderdodger here. We've only got 9 left. But if we win the move roll we can just focus all our remaining dice on this guy and make sure he NEVER gets up.
>>16060336keep on the move then, 3 dice should be good if we don't refresh before the next exchange by moving
>>16060336Oh shit, we have to do that every exchange!?Eh, if they don't contest it we can do it with 3 I'll bet. That'd leave us with 6 to kill whichever guy we felt like facing right?
lets be sure and use 4 dice, then stab the next dude in the face and pray for instadeath
>>16060343Oh, right, terrain counts as CP expenditure. We go for a 3 dice at 6 move roll to another target.
>>16060354>>16060358>>16060363Fair enough. 4 dice at 6 to avoid the goons, and then the remaining 5 to execute the sucker. Put him out of his misery guys. It's not like you're going to need too much of a margin here.
rolled 7, 8, 9, 10 = 34>>16060375
Oh wait, I see what you mean.Er, right, do it anyway, you REALLY don't want to fight both of these guys right now. They suck, but they've still got at least... Ok combat pools. Like, less than 10.
rolled 5, 3, 2, 8 = 18Okay, we only need about 1 MoS to put a KO on this guy. A kill is not necessary, the bloodloss can handle that.
>>16060381Four successes. Christ's bones, that'll do.So, you want to face another live target, or finish off the skewered one?Either way, you've got 5 dice left.
>>16060381chalk another ALL the successes roll for me.

>>16060405Execution it is! You're an evil man.
hey, do his buddies get a drop in moral because we slaughtered him in 1 round??
>>16060422So that is three successes + four strength + two weapon. That is 9, he has 4 toughness I think so I think that is a level 5 wound.
>>16060422I prefer the term "Pragmatic".
rolled 4 = 4>>16060405you have to roll dice of separate kinds separately or the new die will always come up 1eg if you roll 1d10+1d6 the 1d6 will always be 1rolling for location
Oh Jesus. Throat stab, cerebellum destroyed, we all get the picture."Turn your head and cough, Roman!"NEW ROUND!In the distance, there is a furious cry of... Indistinguishable Italian. >>16060506well, it'd have to be over 2 exchanges, so if we all threw red, Gizka'd be stuck not defending vs. one of them.
rolled 8, 6 = 14>>16060514I'll roll for the second guy due to the dice being odd
rolled 3, 7 = 10>>16060506It's complicated. Generally you can only make one thrusting attack with a weapon at once, but I'm generally lenient with cutting, just because there's the whole arc of it to consider. In this case though, a smallsword's cutting game is horrible.
>>16060514>>16060443>you have to roll dice of separate kinds separately or the new die will always come up 1

Oh... Balls. Did they just tie?I think that means that both of them are fighting her. Oh no! What will our protagonist and her... 23 remaining dice ever do!?
>>16060538Reread the terrain rules flower of battle, TN is currently 6, if the lone character ties all of the others she chooses which one to fight. If one wins and the other loses/ties the winner fights her, if both beat her she takes on both.
>>16060538One tied, one actually beat her.I suggest that we go red with both, stab one and kick the other one in the knee, each with 10 dice.
blend mook no2's brain. thrust to zone XIII!
>>16060547Right, right because they're the ones trying to catch her. I keep feeling as though they should get to choose to fight if they tie.But this is much easier! Just the one then.
>>16060538Since they've both spent 2 dice, they each have 6CP.7CP parry on each mook. We just need to live long enough to do a second terrain roll.
>>16060552It's one on one no matter how you slice it.
>>16060568Well we've got 23 dice and one opponent, lets do 13 dice on a thrust to the brain!!
>>16060562So it shall be! What's an appropriate number. 10 dice? They spent 2 to try and maneuver around Gizka this time, so this fellow is at even fewer dice than normal.

Yeouch. No coming back from that one.Alright! The guards are slain, and Gizka stands alone amidst a trio of corpses. However, more enemies approach. Now would be a good time to flee! Now, with her somewhat impressive movement score of 11, Gizka can roll 11 dice to book it on out of there! At a full spring, that'd be a difficulty 11. Think you can manage it guys? Failure could mean bad stuff!
>>16060747Sorry, that was the typo. difficulty /7/ at a full sprint. Hurf.

Well, Gizka passes her terrain roll, albeit by the skin of her teeth.Fleeing the length of the rooftop, and leaping onto the next one (an awning emporium, by the looks of it) she comes to realize that she is near the city's slums. She could leap into the crowds below and attempt to blend inORShe could attempt to fight off the Cardinal's personal guards, who she had thwarted earlier, but who are now catching up, and might actually be a threat! The former might lead to the latter, if done poorly, and on less favorable terms. Your decision, /tg/.
>>16060792As we mentioned before when discussing monks and tent guyropes, you only see fumbles on movement checks.
Shoot the other guy, show we mean it.
>>16060817Fleeing is the sane thing to do, but stabbing the cardinals personal guards in the dick is the awesomer thing to do.
>>16060817Run. Personal guards are always to be avoided.Besides, time to do skill checks.
>>16060817Assassin's Creed time, fine a group of people dressed exactly like Gizka and mimic their motions! It's foolproof!
>>16060833Oh my, that's right! There is the other option. We have two flintlock pistols. I seem to recall doing this because someone wanted to see ranged combat in action. The Cardinal had two guards, elite men on loan from the Doge of Venice. They're about two buildings back. Gizka has time. She could draw her guns, and maybe get a bead off if she's fast. It wouldn't be at full pool, especially not if she fired both...But who could resist?
>>16060860I dislike the double shot due to the inaccuracy, I saw pull one out and shoot whoever is in front when they get to a decent range.
>>16060860are these the 2 top dogs among our enemies? if so, this is our best chance to pistol them.
>>16060867This is the most sensible thing that lets us shoot somebody, do it.
>>16060860Even taking one out will give us vastly better odds against the other. I'd say a single shot at one would be a good idea.
Shoot them!
>>16060867let's just shoot one. then we can use gun for the toss manouver, should things get sticky.
Now, flight is still an option, and right now it looks like it's the favorite option, but the pistols are here. Consider, before you make your decision, /tg/.
>>16060860We have no points in firearms, our aim is a 9 (-3 for erratic movement, -1 for range), the ATN for a medium range is 7 and will deal 6 damage + MoS +1 vs armour. Using base TO 4, we get a level 3 wound. 4 at most.Run.
>>16060893I changed my mind to pistol.
Two buildings... Yes, that sounds about right. Gizka would have enough time to cock, raise, aim her weapon and get her full pool on it.Let's say for the sake of matters that her Handgun proficiency is 5. That's... What, a pool of 13?
Minis 4, 3 if you wait until literally the last instant (unadvisable,) that's still about 9 dice.
>>16060944That'd mean that they're only 15 feet away by then. I say take a half shot at a longer distance, and to fuck with accuracy. We need to keep running! (Also, I'm getting sleepy and want to see the end of the chase.)
>>16060944I say wait until they're 40 yards away, and take a shot with 5 dice.
one shot, hope that the impact knocks one bloke off the roof, distract his friend long enough to escape.how many dice?
>>16060934Well, if we wait for a short range attack by the guards, then we have 12MP ATN6 for directly moving towards us and short range. Normally 6~7 MoS.Do it.
>>16060969>>16060959Alright alright! 5 dice at 5, and then we can flee! The Cardinal's guard are mostly plate armored, you can't guarantee a kill, but it's worth trying!

hey, does he fall off the roof for being shot?
>>16061047's a puncture to an area with a very dense concentration of large veins and arteries. Crazy Bloodloss is a given.
rolled 6, 2, 2 = 10>>16061047Is that 11?That looks like 11 dice. Alright! At difficulty 8 for slightly more insane than usual difficulty, Gizka takes a flying leap off of the building, and breaks her own fall on a clothesline about halfway down, and hits a cart of hay (in proper AC fashion) for 30 feet of falling onto soft ground. That's 3 points of bludgeoning damage, applied randomly via D10.
>>16061059I doubt it's bad enough to have knocked him off. He might not have even realized that he's been shot yet.But he will when he starts taking HT damage and realizes that it takes like a minute and a half to get out of armor without help. Hope someone on that roof is a good surgeon, buddy!Gizka, meanwhile, probably rolls her ankle pretty bad, and bruises her shoulder, but otherwise her escape is just about made!I need to take off for about half an hour to drive to my other place, I'll be back. For now, a job well done.
>>16061082Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Well, I'll be waiting, cya then
>>16061090And I'm back. Just a little trip to the apartment so that I can start cleaning the battery acid out of my trunk.TERRIBLE story, that.
>>16061288Well at least it isn't in anyone's eyes, until Gizka gets a hold of it...
the battery got you in the groin, didn't it?
>>16061313>>16061307Wasn't that bad. My fingers itched pretty bad for a while though, even after I washed them. I'm told that that stuff can melt your skin off if you don't clean it off quick. Nasty.
>>16061401That's what acid does.Neutralize it with another acid! They'll burn each other away!(Also, if you guys could be a bit better at archiving these duels I would appreciate it, I'm normally not here for these threads.)

>>16061437I got the last thread, no problem there

Oh Gizka, why you so sexy despite me not knowing what you look like?
>>16061444I know about it, but it's always freemasoning out on me these days. I think it's going through server changes or something.
>>16061445Tiny, black haired caucasian woman. Green eyes. Very expressive eyebrows. That's about as far as I've ever gone imagining her. As far as your situation goes, it's because all men like women who stab people in the brain with smallswords....Wait. I might have my statistics wrong there.
>>16061493EVERYONE like smallsword brain-stabbing.Except smallsword brain-stabbees, of course, and who cares about them?
>>16061554Yeah, they're all brain damaged anyway, they just can't see the appeal.
Well, off to bed. Good luck, groin and brainstabbers, remember to use the dice probability calculator on the tRoS site.Try not to get killed.
>>16061023Is death really that fast after a heart wound ? I would have thought it took at least a few minutes to die from the bloodloss.
>>16061613I'd think it's not so much the loss of blood as the fact that it isn't moving anymore, certainly towards the brain.IIRC, doesn't it only take twelve seconds for the brain to die once it's completely hypoxic? And that's not even taking the shock into account.
>>16061613takes a few minutes to "technically" die from blood lossit takes about 6-12 seconds to pass out from lack of oxygen to the brain though, and that timer starts as soon as the heart isn't beating.Of course things like adrenalin and shock can modify that time either way, but you get the idea
>>16061764>>16061683Hmkay.Still, that should leave a few rounds to the victim to reciprocate.
>>16061613blood is no longer pumping (usually) so oxygen starvation.Hearts and bodies in general can take a surprising amount of punishment though.
>>16061809a piece of heart shrapnel is lodged in the spine
>>16061809Being stabbed in the heart is the very thing that your body spends much of its existence seeking actively to prevent. When it happens, I expect the shock is something pretty awful.
Why isn't Johnny boy using the official, downloadable damage tables?
>>16061865That depends, I guess. I just read about shock on wikipedia because I didn't really know what it was.The two most relevant articles were those :>Shock (circulatory), circulatory medical emergency>Acute stress reaction, often termed "shock" by laypersons, a psychological condition in response to terrifying eventsI guess the first one was the right one, but the second one mentionned an interesting case : how Elizabeth of Austria died without understanding why, after she got pushed to the ground and stabbed to the heart with a needle file, stood back up, and boarded a boat.
>>16061998sounds like instant infarction.not exactly what you want to happen during a duel!
so . . . what's happening now?Gizka got away? Still running? errybody ded?
>>16062356Gizka jumped into a hay cart, and we are waiting for the battery acid situation to resolve to continue.
Is it just me or is John Galt slowly tricking us into playing a Riddle of Steel campaign?I'm predicting his next topic introduces the diplomacy rules, and next thing you know...
>>16062537well, we can only hope
>>16062537is it just me or is everyone in these threads just silently waiting for Galt to make it official already?

Fuck yeah Riddle of Steel! *reads up*

>>16063381well, that explains it then
>>16063505Are oars statted in riddle of steel ?
>>16062408>>16062356Alright! The situation as per last call was that Gizka had shot one of the Cardinal's elite guards, and then flung her diminutive ass off of a building into a cart of hay. This still inflicted 3 damage on her for the fall, which she soaked up pretty well, taking a level 1 to the left knee, level 1 to the right foot, and a level 1 to the left shoulder. She's now in a large mass of straw, contemplating her next move. And what is her next move? She's definitely out of the reach of those jerks, at least for now, but it's hard to miss a tiny chick falling out of the sky into a pile of straw right there, she's not invisible. Sooner or later some joker with a spear is going to come around...
>>16063586 There's some proficiency for like, miscellaneous equipment and farm implements. I wanted to take it and Trollhoffer the shit out of everyone.
How does easymodo work ?I'm searching for the thread about gizka killing that cardinal but can't find it on sup/tg/.
>>16063588The adventure isn't over? Obviously the solution is clear, we need to get out of the cart and find a place to actually hide.
>>16063634breaking and entering into an house, then diving out of the window in stolen clothes could solve a lot of problems... and cause even more... but is it campaign appropriate?
>>16063588Heh ? how can they not miss us if we're in a pile of straw ?Anyway, wait for a random passerby (but preferably a guard) to go past the pile, pull him inside and stab his groin.
>>16063652As long as it leads to brutal cranial stabs.
>>16063614This is true. Though you could probably use an oar with... Polearm. Use it like a quarterstaff.>>16063627We've never actually seen her killing the Cardinal, our last event with her was her escaping from slavery by mugging Zorro.>>16063634Easier said than done! Peeking out of the cart, there seem to be a few options.-The market is just down the road, a brisk jog less a few hundred feet away-She could reach the southern gates, about five times that distance.-She could try to slip into a house here, and hide indoors.
>>16063677Or-sorry forgot this one-off a guard and... Use that gap in the guard sweep to escape?
>>16063677Fair enough, we'll do that.Gizka sits in waiting, looking for someone with a good sized cloak to get too close.Three potential victims approach at once.-A young woman with a large and inconspicuous cloak that could easily hide Gizka entirely-A large, middle aged merchant with a fur coat and an obnoxious hat, all radically different colors from Gizka's own clothes-A guard with hastily donned armor and a face covering helmet, good for at least a temporarily (and easily shrugged) disguiseWho dies?
we have a gun to reload, and a gate to storm - hiding in an house for a minute or so, then going back to the rooftops should ensure we don't have a tail, and maybe let us take a look at the gate from above.
>>16063817The guard, or the merchant if the guard isn't looking or going our way.
rolled 1, 6, 1, 9 = 17>>16063850Alright! The smallsword is too long for such a mess, so Gizka is going to have to use her Cinqueda, or broad-dagger.Her combat pool with this puppy is still 24. The guard has no chance. For fun, why don't we roll it? The guard's reaction is to try and dodge away, but because of his surprise he only has 4 dice at 7 to do this. Gizka can lever 24 in a thrust to the face, which, while armored, has no neck-guard!
rolled 5, 2, 8, 10, 5, 3, 8, 9, 6, 6, 8, 10, 8, 4, 8, 5, 6, 3, 9, 4, 8, 2, 6, 9 = 152>>16063913What is that, 24 at 7? Sorry buddy, were you using that brainstem?
rolled 7, 2, 5, 2, 4, 5, 1, 8, 6, 4, 8, 8, 9, 2, 8, 2, 7, 7 = 95>>16063913Let's say 18d because that was first in my email field auto-filling thing.
>>16063950>>16063956Oh yeah, we're looking at a good 'ol level 5 wound to the head or neck, even through the helmet. The guard goes down without a peep. Broad daggers. Fun times. After strenuously pulling the dying man into the cart with her, Gizka takes the fundaments of his armor, and lashes them on hastily. It'll get her past distant guards at the very least, so that she can get back onto the rooftops unmolested. She hops out a few minutes later, the positive visage of a... Tiny, poorly fitted guard. Those are more common in this city than anyone wants to admit.
>>16064048Hm... what to do now...Do ristoranti and pasta exist already ? If so, try the local cuisine.
>>16064097Not in the guard uniform! we'll do that later, first, we nonchalantly start moving whole taking stock of our options (what are our possible escape routes?)
>>16064140>start moving while
>>16064097Prior to actually donning the uniform, while assessing her options, Gizka buys a bowl of pasta and a cup of some incredibly strong black drink called cafe.It is that taste she gets in the back of her throat when she is furious-except a drink. Delicious.(Gizka's Fatigue drops back to 0!)Options are fairly simple. Gizka could slip along the rooftops, or through the ground level with the crowds of the marketplace, or through the alleyways behind the market.
I'm baaaack!Alright, we're a guard now. Alleyways are right out. A lone guard is going to be a target for all the scum in Rome and the rooftops are way too obvious. We should probably hurry towards the gates and pretend we're there to make sure the assassin doesn't get out by the south gate. Then get out by the south gate.
>>16064248we got that nice armor, might as well see how well the disguise holds - let's go through the market!
Ahh, screw work, I can wait an hour.Alright, so, we head straight through the market in our cobbled-together guard armor. The other guards give the new girl a few looks...How about a WP/Acting (8?) roll to wear an expression and demeanor of authority, so that nobody questions Gizka's presence? Looking like you belong is about as good as belonging.
>>16064248Do we look like a woman with a helmet ?If so, stay away from crowds and other guards.I'd say rooftops because there we can sing and no one cares.
rolled 5, 1, 6, 8, 6, 5 = 31WP is willpower right? That's 6 for Gizka.
rolled 5, 7, 6, 9, 3, 7, 2, 6 = 45>>160643808 is the TN or the number of dice ?I must I'm still confused on RoS basic rules.
>>16064384The breastplate is pretty masculine, but Gizka is about 4'8".However, I see one success in there. None of the guards are gutsy enough to stop the short officer in his stern walk towards the gatehouse, for fear that he'll have a napoleon complex and beat them to death with his codpiece. It's a nice market. People selling banal foodstuffs and spices, weird contraptions from the orient, and there's an extremely persistent sun-dial salesman hawking his wares to passing townsfolk. (He stays far away from the surly guards, of course.)Gizka makes it through the market. However, the ill-fitting straps of the armor are going to make it a nightmare to actually run if she has to flee once she gets to the gatehouse, which is now about 500 feet away.Should she shed the armor, or keep it and try to bluff her way through the gates?
>>16062537>>16064380Called it.
>>160644088's the TN, you had it right the first time.And... Yeah, the notation has always been very strange.
>>16064435Hey hey, that doesn't mean anything!(Stop blowing my cover here!)
>>16064429Ditch the armor. The bludgeoning wounds we got during the fall are all minor and ignorable. We can sprint out of this now that we're near the gates! But let's not forget to reload our guns, we're going to need them if things get really tight.
>>16064429Shed.Isn't there a convenient pathway to climb over the guards ? I trust our acrobatics abilities better than our disguise.
>>16064429Find a hay cart to stash the armor in, and look for a way around the gate, we don't wanna leave a clear trail.
>>16064508Carts of hay will be our answer to everything. yes, even that.
Alright, ditch the armor somewhere inconspicuous, and try to find a way not to deal with the guards at the gates.Gizka isn't much of a city girl, having spent most of her formative years chained to a wall in a plantation near Baghdad. But she knows a thing or two about how to escape from tight situations, and this definitely counts. She spots a rookery that extends just far enough up past the walls that she might be able to leap from it to an unattended section of wall.Alternatively, she could scale the aquaduct, and try swimming out of the city through there. It'd be a bit dangerous though-part of the duct is covered, and getting stuck there would mean certain drowning.Aside from that, there are only... 20-something guards at the gate, and two crossbowmen above. Not the worst odds she's faced this week.
>>16064552The rookery. That's the best word.
(hold on, gonna drive to my place of business so that I can keep this going as long as possible. Playing it to the hilt here, keep replying people!)
>>16064552>20-something guards at the gate, and two crossbowmen aboveYea-no. how good IS Gizka's swimming? If she's also a female Michael Phelps that could be our best bet.
>>16064598A rookery? Like for birds or poor people?
>>16064608grew up chained to a wall in baghdad...
rookery, aqueducts always have the risk of being gated or guarded at the exit to prevent poisoning the water
>>16064632hey, she could have been chained to a sewer wall in Baghdad, and fighting the rats half underwater is why she's so good! (Seriously, with her fighting skill, I wouldn't be surprised by anything else she could do.)
Back.Gizka knows how to swim, but not nearly as well as she knows how to climb and run. It's the path of least sword-resistance, but the hardest skill tests she'd have to make.
>>16064873Well, I say rookery then. Maybe we can get a bird costume! Gizka's small enough to pass for a pigeon, right?
>>16064968...Potentially. A very large pigeon. A Subotica pigeon.Alright, climb is... So easy let's not even bother rolling it. Then we get to the fun stuff! At the top of the rookery is Gizka's last hurdle before she can escape. There is one duty-shirking guard entertaining a prostitute on this sheltered section of wall, where none of his cohorts bother checking. He might not notice her leaping onto the wall and then into the muddy wetlands beside the tiber below, but if he does, he'll sound the alarm. The rookery has many messenger pigeons, and a few pole-scrapers to take the shit off the roof.
>>16065020hmm, if we sneak past him, no one will know we came this way, but if he sees us, the chase is on again. Alternatively, if we kill him, they'll know which way we went, guaranteed... tough choice.
>>16065143any conveniently placed hay piles or lockers to store a body in around here?
I vote sneaking, after all if it works we get away clean. If it doesn't work, groin stabbings! I mean with his trousers around his waist he's just asking for it.
>this sheltered section of wall, where none of his cohorts bother checkingI don't think they'd find the body here for a while. Or, bodies, maybe, if we have to kill the prostitute as well. I'd say kill him. If we really need to ditch our pursuers we can do it better outside the city.
>>16065274Or it could be this spot isn't checked because its where they take the working girls. If thats the case then who knows when the next one will come along.
>>16065298Maybe. I guess the question would be how well could we react if we were seen while sneaking? What are the chances the guard could either get a good shot in or yell for help?
>>16065327Well we can always throw our knife, that worked well last time right?
>>16065327With his position there's only one thing he has a good chance of getting a shot in *rimshot*but alerting other guards? At least 100%, if not more.
Alright I seem to be out numbered, so looks like we're gonna have ta murder 'em both and then escape.
>>16065378It's probably for the best, still wanna know if we can go Metal Creed Steel and stuff him in a locker, though.
>>16065408That would be awsome, maybe we can disguise him as an extremely large pidgeon?
>>16065327>get in a good shotNear zero.>yell for help100%.We have 10 AG, the guy's at TN 7 or TN10 to notice us, I say we sneak.
>>16065378Well we might not have to murder the prostitute. I suppose we could take her along, maybe later we can show her our "epee," eh? Oh, wait... er, our... uh, "basket hilt"?Never mind.
>>16065436Since someone's backing it up now I vote sneaking
Agh, maybe John signed off for work? Anyone know what the man's schedule is?
>>16065437I think we're a woman in this scenario. Which doesn't make this worse.
>>16065472those two are otherwise occupied, sneaking around them shouldn't be too hard!
Sneak, and if that fails, kill the Guard, Les-Fuck the prostitute, then get out of there like a batgirl out of hell.
>>16067283Screw it, let's try the sneak. Does anyone know the numbers here or should we wait for Galt to finish things himself?
Goddamn it Galt I know you've been posting these when I'm asleep to avoid me but you cannot hide forever!ROMA VICTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR
>>16069087Nuh uh! I've just had some weird work hours.
While we're waiting for Rand, does anyone know of a way to protect the elbows for more than 2AV without incurring penalties? >>16069638I think you'd need a fine banded mail suit, for you have the best normal armor can offer.
adding another vote for sneaking pastwe can always duck and weave and if we're more than say 20 feet away a crossbow isn't going to have an easy time hitting a small rapidly and erratically moving target.I'm actually more worried about the gate guards getting horses than the crossbows.Does RoS have mounted combat rules? Might be kinda awesome to see what happens
