So /tg/, I haven't seen any Chapter threads in a while. And most of the good ones are for the most part done/need little active contributing. Rather then work on one previously established, I feel it is time for a new one. So if you care, shall we have a go? I'll sum things up as we go/maybe put a twist or take artistic liberty to try and make it interesting. So without further ado.

Why were we founded? Roll a d10.

    Crusade Chapter
-Founded in the 33rd Millenium around the time of the Beheading
-Geneseed is pure and from the Blood Angels and we revere our primarch
-Renowned for skill in melee and leadership under fire
-Our hero, is our chaptermaster, who Slew a daemon of note
-We are from a Temperate Feral World that we rule over with Direct Rule
-Our organization is unique with an emphasis on drop pod tactics, axes, and a large number of bodies but a disdain of ranged combat
-occasionally we fly into a rage
-we maintain a good relationship with the Adeptus Astra Telepathica and their psykers
-we have a hateboner for the Dark Eldar

Now this is how I see us going:

    1. We are the leftovers from a time of turmoil who took a rather revolutionary path. Liberating worlds as we go and maintain rule over them. Our crusade, being to unify the Imperium. Our methods are irrelevant. They simply allow for us to quickly overpower and convert worlds to our following. Our friendship is fostered by a high degree of psykers being trained and our abundance of numbers is necessary for us to control our territory.

My vote goes to a Space Wolf Codex army.

The Wulfen are just batshit insane versions of whatever they were before

    Nonononono.

When a Lumbermarine is inducted into the Chapter, he plants a tree. As his career goes on, his tree grows. When he dies, his comrades chop down his tree with his axe, each in turn taking a swing, until finally it is downed. They then use the wood from the tree to make his funeral pyre.

As such, Lumbermarines that die after, like, a week, have unimpressive funerals. But ones that have been in the Chapter for centuries have a funeral pyre that burns entire cities to the ground.

Ah, the World Tree, we could have an Ancient Dreadnought, represented by Bjorn, who has been in service since the conception of the Chapter, his tree is said to be miles wide, and towers higher then many a mountain. This tree is a centerpiece of the chapter, a view that few see. Those that travel to the world tree, do so only in times of great need. For, the anger of the Dreadnought, is said to be capable of cracking the ground beneath him. Forests tremble at the booming of his manly voice. Waking him up in a time unneeded would be a terrible fate for the initiator.

I like the idea that new recruits just beginning their modifications and training must physically dominate a young bear as part of their test. Should they succeed, then that bear and that bear's bloodline become yours.

    From a super religious site:

    Trees - represent prominent men.
Grass - represents masses of mankind.

"The first angel sounded...and the third part of the trees [prominent men] was burnt up [were converted], and all green grass [men sufficiently alive to receive or absorb the water of truth] was burnt up [were converted]." Revelation 8:7

Trees represent prominent leaders that stand above the grass, the masses of mankind. The righteous man is likened to a tree: "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water..." Psalms 1:3 The wicked are likened to the "green bay tree." Psalms 37:35

Grass represents the common masses of men. "The grass withers, the flower fades...surely the people is grass." Isaiah 40:7 It will require only a breath from the Lord to scatter all the might and glory and power of earthly institutions. All who oppose His plan will fade in the great Day of Wrath

I'm not trying to make a crossover or anything, but in Star Wars there's the theory that all the trees of Kashyyyk are connected as one large super-organism.

Maybe the Emperor's tree grew to be so large and expansive that its upper foliage is its own ecosystem and land. In other words, the trees that are planted by the Lumbermarines are planted on the Emperor's tree, which keeps the Chapter's base far, far above the ground upon a tree trunk the size of a large island. The Fortress Monastery itself is carved into the tree.

The chapter could have been founded after a passage of the Blood Angels, there, Veteran Sergeant Cleutin passed, and it is said, that blood of Sanguinus dripped from the Shroud that day, staining the earth beneath it, and from his blood, sprang a forest of red oak, crimson as far as the eye can see. Taking this as a sign, the Original Chapter Master and a few marines stayed behind to culture what would be the chapter to come.

Their growth and belief in the Emperor stems off the logarithmic spiral that is visible in nature. They as they grow, their shape is unaltered, despite any successive curves thrown their way. True proof that the Emperor's will, and Sanguinus bloodline live on.

I like the idea of the trees being planted by Sanguinius' blood, as well as the Emperor's Great Tree being the base.

So maybe a combination. Maybe Sanguinius sees the tree for the first time and weeps at the sight of such beauty. His tears fell and trees grew upon the great branches of the Emperor's tree. A young, rank and file Space Marine, sees this and is particularly moved by it. It is this marine that kept it alive until it becomes a major legend amongst the Blood Angels. Two or so millennium later, when a new Chapter is needed nearby such a place, it is decided that such a site must be the focus of the new Chapter.

I don't know about that. See, as much as they worship the Emperor, Sanguinus is their priority. I see them viewing the Emperor, as their equivalent of God with Sanguinus being Apollonius of Tyana/Jesus.

*shrug* I just don't see why the Emperor should be removed in order to make Sanguinius a priority. How could one worship Jesus if you've removed God?

He may be THE focus of the Chapter's attention, but if we're likening Sanguinius to Jesus then there should still be a strong connection to the Emperor in the legend focused upon. Such as saying that the planet was chosen because of Sanguinius' actions upon the planet. But what Sanguinius did was because of the Emperor's before him.

wel, they would at least respect the dark angels purity and general goody-goodness. maybe not the whole not talking to outsiders or randomly abandoning campaigns thing though

No chapter is liked by the Ecclesiarchy, because they are heathens.
These marines will be no different.

bump.... anyone wanna make a wikia or some shit so we can have an actual codex thing to refer to next time we resume this idea?
    >> Anonymous 08/14/11(Sun)06:38 No.15932533
    >>15932449

I would like to, but my writing leaves a lot to be desired.

All we have right now is this thread to refer to in the future.

i honestly dont think that anyone would mind as long as what we have is presented in a more clear cut manner then a thread.

Why don't you do it, I'm sure you would do a much better job than me.

If I wrote it I'd probably pull a Matt Ward.

nah man, im shit at that, besides, we dont need fucking shakespeare, just basic groundwork to expand on later
    >> Anonymous 08/14/11(Sun)07:07 No.15932708
that and all we need is what weve agreed on prety much copy-pasted into a wikia, just so we have an easy access micro codex

You guys do know that we have this archived on Suptg right? I can just repost it when I continue tomorrow.

Looking forward to it Op, hopefully we'll have this done in time for me to roll a lumbermarine when space marine is released.

We do have 1d4chan, you know -- might be a good idea to archive this stuff there as well.

As a /tg/ chapter, it really should all be kept on 1d4chan just to be consistent with all of the others that have been made.
