93 KB Warriors of the North Quest 9 The Will of the Gods !EabccEYuUs 07/06/11(Wed)22:53 No.15497988
"You are a fool, Umhang... did you really expect to lead a beastman herd past a second moon? Chosen of the Raven God you may be, but time and time again your impertinence has proven to be your folly. Let this be the last I shall see of you, h-u-u-u-uhhmahn!"

The bray shaman is livid with glee. Already, he has lead you to the abandoned village watchtower, alone and unarmed. The chaos spawn howl and bite all around you, and the Minotchar Tauresius stands at the ruins of the door, barring any exit.

"Let these Chaos spawn show you the true meaning of the Ruinous Powers!" the kul screams, and smashes the nearest loophole chaining a chaos beast.

"Yes... you shall see the Ruinous Powers, wizard... you shall see it as your final view of this world..." Tauresius echoes, his mighty voice echoing in the empty tower amongst the snarling an snapping Chaos Spawn.

"H-A-A-A-A-Ahahaha! Die as the doombull says, WARGOL UMHANG, DIE!!!" The bray shaman screeches.

"Oh... I'm so sorry. I seem to have lead you to believe that it is the Tzeentchian that is the wizard to see his last of the material plain. Let your spirit rest knowing my apology, bray shaman..." Tauresius says sympathetically.

The bray shaman's eyes grow wide and already his mouth opens for a scream or an incantation, but the Sage Spawn is upon him before the first syllable is spilled, leeching the magic from his bones like blood.

And so dawn breaks, Wargol Umhang. A good beginning of the day for a champion of the Raven God...

(Sorry about the lateness of the threads. I'm actually on the road right now.)

Rules: Warriors of the North uses 2d12 as a system.

If you want to influence the story, you must link back to the action as told by the storyteller with a suggestion of an action.

The first die is used to decide which action will be used to further the story. The first four rolls that are linked back to the most current piece of the story will be the rolls that will be considered.

The second die is used to determine the effectiveness of your action.

Double nines are the equivalent of rolling two natural twenties in a d20 system and higher than rolling a double twelve, as nines are the number of the patron god of this thread. However, only double nines carry this rule. If only the first or second die are nines, then it is treated numerically.

You may attempt to reroll previous actions by linking back to the action and rolling 1d12. The most current reroll will take the precedence of the first die while replacing the second die with the number rolled. Rerolls will be considered until the fourth action roll is completed. Any rerolls after the fourth are null and void.

In the case of two or more rolls having the same value of the first die, the storyteller assigns the actions values on an appropriately numbered die and rolls to see which happens.

ALWAYS LINK BACK TO THE STORY OR THE ACTION YOU WANT TO REROLL. A lot of people forget to take the 2d12 out of their email field, and more than a few rolls just exclaiming or commenting on the story have been taken as a serious roll in the past.

    Have fun!

The bray shaman twitches and stares at you from his prone position, the sage spawn constricting him like a daemonic python. You can visibly see that the magic is flowing from the gor to the spawn, but as far as other effects, you can't be sure still. At least you can be sure that the creature is stopping any magic from the beastman wizard. Tauresius watches on with mild amusement at the sight, enjoying his first clandestine Tzeentchian assassination and betrayal.

"My, this is exhilarating..." he grins, squatting and poking one gigantic finger at the shaman's body.

What next? (2d12 with action. First four rolls considered)

As weak as the kul shaman is, slitting his throat for the Changer of Ways is not unlike the sacrificial goats that your former village did to appease the gods in stead of proper sacrifices of men. You tell Tauresias that this is a small mercy, and that the pain of betrayal is the only pleasure that one that follows the Raven God for a scheme such as the one that has just unfolded. The minotchar nods, eagerly drinking in what was once so beyond his nature.

Then you smile as the bray shaman's life is finally snuffed out. You tell Tauresias that there are no final mercies for a corpse, though, and gleefully the both of you eviscerate the body and bones.

Aaaah, fresh and red, but so full of spiteful power... a good skull. What now? (2d12 with action. First four rolls considered)

The irony is sweet, and you wish to savor more of the flavor. Tauresias watches in anticipation, delighting in the proper worship and actions of a more experienced cultist. You lick your taloned hand, drawing a drop of blood from your tongue and tracing the wet claw over your human hand with the symbol of your patron.

The claw begins to glow blue, with no discomfort for you, and you carve with ease the Raven God's symbol within the wheel on the forehead of the shaman's still wet skull.

The eyes glow a deep blue and two little licks of azure flame begin to flicker within, shooting back and forth frantically in panic.

Seems as if the shaman still has ties to this mortal realm. Tauresius has been proven a liar as well, you chuckle with the minotchar as the remnants of the bray shaman's spirit lingers in your new artefact.

You feel the grime start to settle on your hands. Wiping the blood on the sage spawn, you nod at Tauresius to finish cleaning up and, for now, concealing the death. The minotchar snorts, nodding at the unfortunate task, only accepting it due to the task requiring some power of subversion...

Now that loose end is tied, you think of what else there needs to be seen to. You remember that the bray shaman had visited the forest many times during his escape from your focus. A month free to plot, even for a creature as straightforward as the kul, is something of a danger.

You exit the old watchtower, and you aren't surprised to see the slave waiting, leaning against the wall outside for you. In the month you've had her, her eerily lingering presence has become something you've accepted.

Knowing Tauresius will deal with the herd while you are away, you head for the forest...

You do not have to turn your head to know that the slave is standing behind you, three paces away as you study the herdstone intently.

You ask your slave if she has heard anything from the ungors that so recently she had been training in futility. What gossip has she heard from those idiots?

For a moment, you hear the rustle of wind and you wonder if your senses are playing tricks on you, but eventually you hear her speak.

"No... as you say, they are idiots, and only idiotic matters tumble from their lips..."

The inaction for the past month has started to curdle your blood. A full waxing and waning of Morrslieb has made you start to feel like a sordid Nurgling, and the morning's assassination has made you hunger for more intellectually stirring activities.

You place your hand on the mark of Tzeentch and whisper his name, and the symbol glows, burning bright blue fire and scorching away the lichen growing between the cracks.

"Pestigors..." A familiar voice caws from the top of the stone.

You feel a certain emotion welling up in you. Mostly nausea.

The raven smiles even wider as you look up at him.

Well... what now? (2d12 with action. First four rolls considered)

"The winds, the winds! Do you need to dry your laundering so badly, champion?" the raven mocks, fluttering down and alighting on the slave's shoulder.

You start to lose your patience and you sternly request for more accurate means of reading and manipulating the winds of magic.

"I thought you needed wind, not a book, champion..." the raven laughs, hoping from the shoulder to the slave's hand, which for some reason the elf had already outstretched in anticipation.

You strain and ask again, more politely. You suffer the raven for as long as you have to.

"My, you really mean it, don't you?" he cocks his head to the side, grinning wryly, and you nod emphathically.

"Very well..." the raven nods. He jumps on to the slave's head and pecks at the sigil, and instantly the slave begins to shiver, blue tendrils starting to appear on her skin. Eight glowing paths seem to appear under her skin, and runes start to glow softly before fading back into her skin.

"Haha! There! A book, and she can do your laundry as well as fly a kite! Happy reading, chaaaaampion!" The raven caws again, flying off.

Technically bro, claiming the heads of our enemies doesn't HAVE to be Khornate, I mean, every single chaos faction has SKULLS everywhere, its the motive behind the skull-taking, like, say we wanted a screaming band of skulls to constantly sing praise of us, that would be Slaaneshi, if we claim skulls to use as Foci / possibly solid scrolls that would be Tzeentchian.

To be fair, this thread has been pretty cool. Not OMFG, WE JUST SUMMONED A GREATER DEMON AND TURNED THE VILLAGE INTO A CRYSTAL FILLED WITH MUTANTS cool, but glowing compass tattoo of the eight magic winds on the back of slave? Some genuine intrigue and backstabbing against the bray shaman and finding a way to raid more villages? Good exposition if not action quest part.

If I recall, he's also technically contemptuous and neutral to Khorne, despite Khorne HATING him.
What i'm saying is unless we start living purely for base pleasures, then no Slaanesh.
Given some... interesting depictions of Tzeentchian sorcerers (notably in Pawns of Chaos, from the usually more simplistic Chaos of 40k), I don't see that happening.
The aforementioned one in Pawns of Chaos repeatedly suts his dick off for rituals and every time it grows back, bigger, badder, and more mutated, the better to ravish with, in his own words.
And that guy was by far the most blessed of Tzeentch on the entire world.

We can conquer and rape a hundred villages for the lulz... but until we start living for pleasure it's still an act in honor of Tzeentch rather than Slaanesh. We could rape our slave all day long but as long as we conquer, scheme, ect ect then we're still doin' it rite.
