You are a strange creature, capable of taking over other lifeforms to serve as your vessel. Your current host, Jack Winters, was unbeknownst to you a drug addict, and overdosed on speedball. To survive, you bonded with him, but this damaged you, leaving you without any idea of what you are.

Your kin, the bodysnatchers, seem intent on murdering you, and have sent combat specialised variants, called Warriors, after you. The reason seems to be that you are a Hunter through accident, a form that is the greatest weapon of the race.

Joining up with a small team, calling themselves the Fools, you, along with the man called the Doctor infiltrated a research base of the Wise concealed as an office building with the purpose of healing Jack's girlfriend, Catherine, who was infected by both alien strains. You kidnapped it's Director and assumed his appearance, managing to steal valuable information and resources.

Eventually you managed to cure the girl, only to be ambushed by specialist troops called the Canes Belli. You fought your way to C5, the level above you, and broke through the defenses guarding Number 7, a strange bodysnatcher, who the Wise are intent on keeping you from.

    Your known abilities are:
    - reinforcing your muscle and bone tissue, making you several times stronger, faster and tougher
    - growing weapons from your arms, limited to one on each arm in any combination:a hooked, double edged blade on your forearm, claws or a spike that springs out from your wrist underneath your palm
    - hardening your skin into thick, segmented bone plate armor, and growing a membrane under your skin, that contains fluid that hardens on impact
    - absorbing ingested organic material, that you can use to increase muscle and bone density(animal tissue is the most effective)
    - the ability to call forth your host's memories, skills and knowledge
    - altering your appearance, includin skin\hair\eye colour, facial features, height, build, and gender, though the more elaborate the change is, the more time and effort it takes.
    - producing almost any kind of drug, poison or acid in liquid form, including sedatives, that you can deliver either at high pressure from an opening that can be created anywhere on your body, or through the wristspike.
    - emitting pheromones that influence humans
    - sensing the mind-link of bodysnatchers
    - greatly enhanced senses, capable of switching to different spectrums (infravision, ultrasound, noise filterin, etc.)
    - fiber-optic nervous system, allowing you to ignore pain to some extent, and speeding up your reflexes by orders of magnitude

Professor Kellery looks at you with alarm as you tear away the side of the container. Inside, the floor is riddled with half-eaten food, most of it gone bad quite some time ago. The small girl sitting in the corner is without a doubt Number 7. She is no older than twelve, her skin and green pajamas laden with layers of filth and grime. Before you could decide on an approach, she lunges at you with speed clearly inhuman, easily slipping through your guard. To your surprise, she burries her face in your stomach, hugging you tightly, a stream of muffled and half-sobbed "thank you"s audible both normaly and through the mind-link. You exchange a confused look with the Professor, neither of you expecting this.
    Wat do?
    >> Anonymous 06/05/11(Sun)17:01 No.15167428
    "Uh... you're welcome?

Do you have a name? And possibly know a good escape route for us?"

Well shit I did not expect a little girl to be "Subject 7". Although that would explain why they used a number designation instead of a name, they probably wanted to dehumanize her as much as possible to keep the staff from forming any kind of bond with her.
    >> Anonymous 06/05/11(Sun)17:07 No.15167494
Well if she can't even break out of a wooden crate she's not going to be the help in combat that we were hoping for, so we pretty much need to run before reinforcements show up. At least she seems to be fast.

It was a large steel carge container, looking like the kind that they use in shipping on the outside, but heavily reinforced military-grade stuff on the inside.

We "cured" Catherine, stole some documents, absorbed samples and freed subject 7. Now we must come back to Doc and get away from here as fast as possible.
There's no time to talk, so let's just ask her if she's alright, does she know any escape route, etc. Basic stuff. We will question her more in safer circumstances.

Plus the poor girl's probably terrified and most likely sick and/or malnourished given the state of her living space. She's doesn't seem to be in any condition to escape or fight on her own.

Unfortunately, that means we now have extra baggage we're reponsible for.

Huh, I just looked at the end of the last thread and you never specified the type of container. Don't know why I was sure it was a wooden crate. Running is probably still a good idea though, she's not likely to be in top condition right now.

"You're welcome. What's your name, kid?"

She steps back, still holding on to your Canes Belli uniform with her right hand.
    "Daisy. My name is Daisy."
"Okay, Daisy, do you now a way out of here?"
Her limps tremble, and she almost begins to cry again. "No. I don't know where we are. They kept me in the box."

We're not going to be able to sneak our way through, not with Cath and Daisy in tow. If we're going to make it out, we're going to have to haul ass, clearing out patrols as we find them, moving quick enough so that they can't pin down our exact location as we take their men down.

Have the doc cover the rear with the gun we gave him, make sure Daisy stays right with him, and we'll take advantage of the guard uniform trick we used last thread.

'I, uh," she sighs, and picnhes the bridge of her nose. "This is against my better judgement, but I'll help you. There is a hidden maintenance elevator, protected by multiple sefaty measures. Several personel need to identify themselves to access it. I'll show you where it is."

She walks out, stopping about 10 meters down the corridor, and turns toward a security camera. "Emergency protocol Bravo-13-A. ID code 3471." A section of the wall slips away showing a smaller version of the vault door you tore out.

Also, I was thinking that there might have been a way to prevent the death of those couple of guards.

We can make any kind of a mix of chemicals, right?
Well, I was thinking, would it have been possible to make a "healing" cocktail or something like that? A shot of adrenaline into the heart to start it pumping and then the 'special' healing mix made on the spot to keep the person alive for a while (enough to get them to medical attention. I don't think it would be possible to downright heal them).
Sure, it might have needed a good roll to be successful but I'm sure that between inhibiting Jacks body and trying to fix Cath, the bodysnatcher should have enough knowledge of human biology to do it.

    So, would that have worked?

She looks at him with disbelief. "If you say so." It's slightly irritating to get such a reception after what you did for her. "Come on, we have to get moving." You turn around, and start jogging back to the maintenace elevator. "This is Daisy, by the way. She's like me, and she's coming with us."

She barely audibly mumbles hello, the relief of getting out of her prison clearly overcome by fear of these unknown people and the bodies of soldiers littering the floor.

You can foce the door, it's somewhat less sturdy than the one you tore out. Falilf's card could be used to substitue for one identification. And it's expressly made so it isn't easy to access, as it's purpose is to allow maintenace of the security systems. "Everybody stay here. I'll be back soon." you say wtih all the authority you can muster. The only one who doesn't seem terrified at the thought of fighting is Kellery.

You grab a flashbang off of one of the soldiers, breaking into a steady jog towards the elevator. You take the pin of the grenade out, and turn down the corridor leading to the lift. Another six soldiers, this time with radicaly different weapons though. No time to look, as you chuck the flashbang between them, ducking back to avoid blinding yourself. After the flash and thunderous noise, you charge.

Speeding up, you wade in between the staggering soldiers, taking care not to pulverize them with your strikes. The sedative is as effective as ever, four of them dropping to the floor a second after the grenade went off. You jab the fifth one lightly in the biceps, stepping out of his path as he reels, lunging towards the last one, who was shoved by his squadmates in the confusion about three meters away from the rest of them. He has a strange alien weapon in hand, something distinctively different than the energy-lances.

    >Crikey, this is going to go swell.

You would move, reflexes fast enough to allow you to dodge, but you are mid-leap, nothing in reach to allow you to get out of the way. The weapon roars, it's sound deafening in the closed corridor, much louder than any normal rifle. It sprays a swarm of projectiles at you, the blue muzzle flash painting the scene in an eerie light.

The bullets, if you can call them so, dig themselves into your armor, exploding a fraction of a second later, sending you off course. You end up in a pile after bouncing off the wall, bleeding heavily.

The soldier shouts profanity as shrapnel from your bone-plates rips his face open. He gets up, still reeling from the flashbang, and sends another burst your way as you try to get on your hands and knees. A lash of pain goes through your back as more of your body is torn away, the force of the mini-explosions knocking you back down. He walks to you, and points the gun against the back of your head.

He tries to raise the gun at you, getting out the start of a shout, before you land on his chest, grab his forehead, and let out an animalistic snarl of rage and pain, the spike running through his head to lodge itself in the concrete beneath.

You retract it, and stand up, holding a hand out on the wall for balance. Your bleeding slows as you close the wounds to the best of your ability. You are hurt badly, your right side has holes the size of a child's fist, and your back is a mess of mangled flesh.

If they're meddling with AIs, they're going to doom us all.

Like >>15171673 said, check for bugs. Also, talk to Daisy, reassure/comfort her, etc. Try to find out more about her from Kellery. I assume we're capable of empathy and feel pretty peeved something who was in a very similar situation to us was subjected to that sort of treatment.

Are you shitting me? What, do they think that's going to solve all our problems?
People have a hard enough time keeping up with the progression of technology. Sure it's bound to happen eventually but what they want to bring it about sooner?

"Rather well, or so I'm told. The Wise seem to be very intent on progress, for some reasons I can only guess."

    >>15171732
"Oh, well, they have been working on it for decades now. The Wise have existed since the early 20th century. And they do consider it a second priority to sorting out this mess with the aliens." She laughs with amusement. "They have a rather nebulous and idealized idea of humanity, a curious standard that not many live up to outside themselves."
    >>15171726
"You okay kiddo?" She gives you a bright smile, sensing your concern and simpathy through the mind-link. "I'm okay, just tired and hungry. Can I shower soon? I'd like to shower." Her answer echoes, the actual words said after they arrive through the link.

This is encouraging, since she doesn't really seem to be traumatized. At some time we should make sure she's actually a little girl and not some Hunter passing itself off as one, but for now we should be content to adopt her as our daughter :3

You pat down the Professor as best as you can while sitting."So what's the deal with Daisiy, Prof? Why did you guys kidnap her?" She sighs, clearly annoyed by something about the issue. "I don't know much, most of what happened was beyond even *my* clearance. I was only told to conduct specific tests to map out the extent of her abiliites. But if I were to make an educated guess, she is something similar to you, but instead of Hunter-like abilities, she posesses an Overseer's potential." You find her phone, and a small device, most likely the one she used in the specimen storage. It's 4" of black plastic, with four buttons on it's side.

Toss it to the Doctor. As an omniscientist, he'd know what to do.
And ask Megan or the troops to give her a more thorough pat-down. And Doc to jam or something.

Also, well, well, well, an Overseer?
I just hope it doesn't turn out to be like Ms. Grey later on.
Can it also feed on samples? Or should we keep her from eating samples, in case what happened to Grey happened because there were too many Invader sample inside her.

That you already know, the racial memory surfacing at your request. It's the officer or field command of the bodysnatchers, serving as a nexus, amplifyer and coordinator for mind-link communications, relaying orders from queens and adjusting battle plans real time.

Pulling batteries out doesnt stop the modern phones from being buggies, so throw it out of the van
ask what the other device is
if it is nothing important throw it out too.

    >overseer
huh, good that we took overseer upgrades she shiuldnt be able to manipulate us

Sure it does. That's why I said take out both of them. You can't track a cell phone remotely if it's not transmitting anything.

Second on checking the unknown device, we should also verify what she says with the doctor.

"It's the officer or field command of the bodysnatchers, serving as a nexus, amplifier and coordinator for mind-link communications, relaying orders from queens and adjusting battle plans real time. Am I right, Prof?"

You chuck the phone out the window, and raise the device in front of her. "What's this?""Oh, that. It's mid-tier Wise tech, capable of jamming all human, bodysnatcher or cyborg wireless communication in a short radius, 10 meters or so."

So, we'll have to talk to Daisiy a bit at a more secure location. Trade stories, etc and hopefully find out what makes her different in the grander scheme of things and/or how fully in control of her abilities she is. Also how a little girl ended up becoming a host.

Good luck, 1 player out for the night.

You lean back, turning your head. "Doc, her story checking out?Oh, and look this thing over, I don't want any surprises." you say, throwing the device to him. He catches it, saying " I didn't notice any discrepencies with what I know. Oh my, I saw the plans for the ptorotype of this a while ago." He turns it around, popping of the panel on the back, poking around it's insides. "Seems to be what she says it is."

You relax, Cath nestling her head on your shoulder. For the first time in three no immediate threat or urgent mission to worry about, and it feels damn good. There's always tomorrow of course, and it's not like there are fewer people wanting to kill you than yesterday, but right now, you find it hard to care.

You close your eyes, and fall asleep moments later, the van securely on it's way back home.
