    223 KB Bodysnatcher Quest 8 Brain In A Jar 06/02/11(Thu)16:12 No.15137399
Quest will start soon, folks, posting this from iphone of roommate, PC got a bit wonky. 30 minutes tops.
    >> Brain In A Jar 06/02/11(Thu)16:42 No.15137597
You are a strange creature, capable of taking over other lifeforms to serve as your vessel. Your current host, Jack Winters, was unbeknownst to you a drug addict, and overdosed on speedball. To survive, you bonded with him, but this damaged you, leaving you without any idea of what you are.

Your kin, the bodysnatchers, seem intent on murdering you, and have sent combat specialised variants, called Warriors, after you, that you defeated with help from an unknown aircraft with cloak-capabilities, belonging to a branch of the military with some knowledge of the aliens.

Joining up with a small team, calling themselves the Fools, you found out that you are something called a Hunter, a creature of immense potential. Through careless handling, a cyborg creature attacked and infected Catherine, Jack's girlfriend, and called it's kin to fight you. You narrowly escaped a battle with something called an HK, the military openly intervening. The end result of the fight is unknown, the area where it took place quarantined. Catherine, after your attempt to cure her failed, is in a coma, her body torn in a war between the cyborg and bodysnatcher strain infection, and you agrreed to infiltrating a military base in hopes of curing her.

Disposing of his guards, you kidnapped Dirar Fadil, an agent of the Wise, and director of the research facility named Fort Heilen. His appearance assumed, you easily entered the base, and proceeded to explore it while the DOctor began his procedure. YOu acquired the documentation for an experimental mass-driver in the last stages of it's testing, and felt some kind of creature through the bodysnatcher mind-link.
Deciding that the thing you "heard" was decieving you, you ignored it's desperate pleas and headed for the room where the bodysnatcher samples were stored. On the way, a security guard informed you that the Doctor was almost done.

    >still ironing out some kinks, should be back to full speed soon

    Your known abilities are:
    - reinforcing your muscle and bone tissue, making you several times stronger, faster and tougher
    - growing weapons from your arms, limited to one on each arm in any combination:a hooked, double edged blade on your forearm, claws or a spike that springs out from your wrist underneath your palm
    - hardening your skin into thick, segmented bone plate armor, and growing a membrane under your skin, that contains fluid that hardens on impact
    - absorbing ingested organic material, that you can use to increase muscle and bone density(animal tissue is the most effective)
    - the ability to call forth your host's memories, skills and knowledge
    - altering your appearance, includin skin\hair\eye colour, facial features, height, build, and gender, though the more elaborate the change is, the more time and effort it takes.
    - producing almost any kind of drug, poison or acid in liquid form, including sedatives, that you can deliver either at high pressure from an opening that can be created anywhere on your body, or through the wristspike.
    - emitting pheromones, currently untested
    - sensing the mind-link of bodysnatchers, possible utility and range unknown

You enter through the reinforced door into a crowded room of white, surgically clean tiles, filled with contaiment units like the tube the Doc handed to you. Large glass cylinders, filled with a slightly opaque, brownish liquid, cables snaking into them from the pedestals buzzing with activity underneath. There are eleven living ones, all marked with a small red biohazard sign. There are other containers in the back, but these seem to be more akin to large stainless steel freezers, with nothing of value to you.

The samples are diverse, six of them Infiltrators, two Warriors, another two of some form you don't quite recognize, and a single Overseer. You smile, and almost walk to them, before noticing a surveilance camera, in a postion on the far side where it can record everything inside the storage room.

    Wat do?

    >surveilance camera, in a postion on the far side where it can record everything inside the storage room

Well, that's not really surprising.Hmm... Our pheromones won't work on machine, and it watches storage room constantly. If we start messing with it, we'll only raise alarm. I don't really see any solution. If nobody figures something out, we'll have to give up and just meet with Doc. Do we see any way we can disable camera without casting suspicion on us and causing an alarm?

Neither you nor Jack have the technical expertise to disable it without raising an alarm. As far as you know, though, you do outrank everyone in the base, with the possible exception of the strange troopers by the stronger signal.

Ascertain if the camera is active or passive. Is it fish-eye lens, does it turn and follow us around, etc. etc.?

Go to one of the pedestals. Figure out if there are any vitals connected to each of the samples.
We'll extrapolate some actions out of those information.

If it is almost impossible to do so without arousing immediate suspicions, return to the Doctor, and there aren't anything wrong going on, send Doctor and Cat out first, THEN try to wreak some havoc by consuming as many samples as possible.
Get that weak 'voice' out too afterwards, if it is still in our capabilities.

    >>15144070

Fisheye, it's a single immobile camera, about 2.5 meters high.

You walk to one of the containers, and inspect it more thoroughly. The cylinder is 20 cm in diameter and 40 tall, a blob of tissue the size of your fist floting inside with wires and pads all over it, likely responsible for the creature's survival. The machine underneath is a simple metal box with a small screen displaying life signs. The container is structured in a way that allows easy removal, a smaller version of the device attached underneath it that keeps it alive while it is transported. In a corner you see a trolley with notches fit for 20 containers.

As you are trying to come up with a plan, the door opens behind you. A woman, almost a head taller than Jack, steps in, high heels click-clacking loudly on the floor. She wears in a white lab coat, with an elegant black dress under it. Black hair kept in a tight knot behind her head, her face -hard, pronounced lines, striking rather than beautiful- showing pleasent surpise at your presence.

She walks closer to you, a badge around her neck, identifying her as Professor Kellery. "What brings you here today, Director?" She has a very slight accent, slightly clipping the end of words.

Deliberately cast our eyes towards the camera, so that she notices but not anyone watching. Whisper 'I think we have a parasite on the inside. Can we talk privately?' Back that up with a pheromone induced trust of us. If she can get the camera turned off, spin a yarn about a parasite trying to attack you today, knowing where your guards would be. That info has to come from the inside. (best lies are ones with grains of truth in them). Warn her to be careful. Once she's distracted, put her to sleep, feast on the critters in the tubes, then dose her again to keep her unconscious in the lab while we tend to other matters.

Grabbing you by the elbow, she pulls you until you have your back to the camera. "We can talk now. The car will be filled with Claymore mines and watched by snipers. We let the 'transport' plans slip to one individual at a time. If the transport is attacked, we've got our mole."
Meanwhile, we'll be feasting in his office. Let them chase shadows while we feed, then walk out at the end of the day with nobody the wiser.

If Number 8 has infiltrated the building, then we need to notify the Wise. He can't be allowed to make contact with Number 7. The single unit of Canes Belli in the base won't be enough to stop him if he wishes to act."

Me too. I have to take off, but if she makes a move to call guards or do anything, gas her with sedatives, then as she's falling unconscious pull her into a sleeper-hold, so it looks like we knocked her out that way. When the tech and/or guards come in, accuse her of being infected, insist she be quarantined. Say she tried to get you to authorize moving the samples and gave herself away by not responding to key phrases. Use the jammer in her pocket as proof of her duplicity. Then 'move the samples to a more secure location' in your office and proceed from there.

"Of course, sir." They file out, and you lean out the door after them. "Miss, the report please?" She's already standing by the printer. "Just a minute, sir."

You sit down by the desk, and have to wait only for a little while before she hurries in, placing a dossier in front of you. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, MAKE NO COPIES and DESTROY AFTER READING are stamped on it in large, blocky red letters. "If you need anything, I'll be right outside, sir." Skimming through the document, you realize that you can gain very little information of it, due to the many abbreviations and terms they use. It becomes apparent though, that the HK escaped, and that the quarantine is only to prevent witnesses from spreading their story.

You fold the papers and place them into your pocket along with the data of the mass-driver, and walk to the trolley. You screw off the tops, and impatiently start to take off your suit. You plunge your hands into the containers, the samples feeling slimey in your hands while the tendrils do their work. Absorbing all of them takes almost no time, and though they contain little information, combined they assault your senses, your head aching, the signs of an insistent migraine forming.

If it is and willing to kick some ass and take names, then it might be worth it to turn around and let it loose. And the way back is probably not as well guarded since they'll be expecting us to head up and out, not further in.
    >> P(&P) WK 06/03/11(Fri)23:35 No.15150732
I am all for freeing the 7. But that might be my Wk tendencies acting up.

Pragmatically, a second set of morpher capabilities give us some aid, even if only to serve as a distraction, since we are not too sure of 7's capability after a time in captivity, nor if it is not entirely inhostile.

That it tried to contact us in almost normal HUMAN way though, in comparison to for instance the way the punk chick tried to 'speak' to our damaged comm instincts, needs to be noted.

Ask Doctor if he knows of any subject 7...

Ok, so ask the doctor if he knows anything about this Subject 7.

But right now it's looking like we're in agreement to bust it out, so unless he knows something specifically about it that would hinder our ability to escape significantly, we should plan on turning around and going back for him.

Shrugging into the suit, you gave an answer muffled by the mask, slightly slapping his back. "Thanks Doc, I appreciate your faith in me. Stay by the door, and shout if there's trouble."
