    223 KB Bodysnatcher Quest 6 Brain In A Jar 05/23/11(Mon)18:21 No.15027226
You are a strange creature, capable of taking over other lifeforms to serve as your vessel. Your current host, Jack Winters, was unbeknownst to you a drug addict, and overdosed on speedball. To survive, you bonded with him, but this damaged you, leaving you without any idea of what you are.

Your purpose seems to be related to the series of objects that have appeared and dissapeared above major population centers, and to the cyborg-like creature that you killed.

Your kin, the bodysnatchers, seem intent on murdering you, and have sent combat specialised variants, called Warriors, after you, that you defeated with help from an unknown aircraft with cloak-capabilities, belonging to a branch of the military with some knowledge of the aliens.

Joining up with a small team, calling themselves the Fools, you found out that you are something called a Hunter, a creature of immense potential. Through careless handling, a cyborg creature attacekd and infected Catherine, Jack's girlfriend, and called it's kin to fight you. You narrowly escaped a battle with something called an HK, the military openly intervening. The end result of the fight is unknown, the area where it took place quarantined. Catherine, after your attempt to cure her failed, is in a coma, her body torn in a war between the cyborg and bodysnatcher strain infection, and you agrreed to infiltrating a military base in hopes of curing her.

    Your known abilities are:
    - reinforcing your muscle and bone tissue, making you several times stronger, faster and tougher
    - growing weapons from your arms, limited to one on each arm in any combination:a hooked, double edged blade on your forearm, claws or a spike that springs out from your wrist underneath your palm
    - hardening your skin into thick, segmented bone plate armor, and growing a membrane under your skin, that contains fluid that hardens on impact
    - absorbing ingested organic material, that you can use to increase muscle and bone density(animal tissue is the most effective)
    - the ability to call forth your host's memories, skills and knowledge
-altering your appearance, includin skin\hair\eye colour, facial features, height, build, and gender, though the more elaborate the change is, the more time and effort it takes.
-producing almost any kind of drug or poison in liquid form, including sedatives, that you can deliver either at high pressure from an opening that can be created anywhere on your body, or through the wristspike.

Sitting in the damp basement of a third-rate tenement, you relax, trying to gather your strength after the botched attempt to save Cath. Megan, after much protesting, has agreed to go buy you the food necessary to recuperate. Soon, you'll have to leave for the research lab, but for now, you rest.

    Yes.

There wasnt a lot of time at the end of last thread but would it be possible to find something synthesized that could act as well as consuming tissue that would be more compact? A sort of super protein shake?
It's going to get suspicious in the long run if people from the team keep having to buy up so much meat.

A protein shake would work, but bones are important as well, making it somwhat lacking. Some supplement might be a good replacement, though. And chicken is simply cheaper and easier to buy from supermarket. Some deal with a slaughter house might make your life easier.

"Doc, mind telling me the rest of the story Megan started? I'd like to know what I'm dealing with."

He adjusts his glasses, looking at you with a slightly pained expression."Well, allright, though Megan would tell it better."

"So, where did she leave off. Ah, right. So, Anne Grey approached Agent Jacobs, and told him about what happened to her, backing her claims by a demonstration of her abilities. She was the first documented Hunter, the only one for years. The governemt assigned her a house, and tasked Jacobs with gaining her trust. Meanwhile, they prepared a military base with all the equipment they could, and made it's security airtight."

She agreed to help them, and so began a partnership between her and Jacobs. He was her handler and partner, and grew quite fond of her, if my sources are correct. They combated threats all around the globe, hauling what they recovered back to the base. Most of the technology and knowledge we have of the Category-ones was acquired during this time. "Oh, well, it might be more relevant to your situation indeed." he says with an apologetic look.

"So, five years after she signed up so to speak, she encountered a Hunter in the field. It was quite a surprise, as we thought that Miss Grey was the only one, a new breed. Turns out, the Hunter form is the last resort of the bodysnatchers, their weapon of mass destruction if you will. Grey was similar in terms of power to you, based on what I saw during the fight against the Category-ones. She was nearly killed during the fight, saved only by the intervention of a large detachment of the Airforce. The natural born ones seem to operate on a different level, every part of them fine-tuned for their task."

"To destroy any threat that manages to overcome their regular forces, I believe. You must understand, we have very little information about either side of this conflict. The Category-ones, the tin-men as they came to be known, refuse to open communications, though they clearly understand us. The bodysnatchers simply commit suicide the moment they are captured. They simply stop and die, it's rather uncanny. All we know is that they wage war
against each other, and only stop when one side is completely annihilated. Humans are merely tools to them."

He shift around in his seat, clearly embarassed " This is why Megan would have been better, I get sidetracked rather easily. Where were we? So, the Hunter was eventually slain, knocked out by a barrage of missiles. Grey devoured it while it was still alive. She changed afterward, keeping her distance from everyone. She dissapeared three days later, and went undiscovered for most of 4 months. The military was suspicious of this development, and strengthened the security of all their bases and labs, rightly so, as Grey appeared by one of the most important research complexes in Europe. She tore half the base apart, only stopping when a large number of both bodysnatchers and tin-men converged on the complex. During the battle royale that ensued Miss Grey slipped away. No one's seen her since to my knowledge."

"This is all I can tell you about her, there were some files above my clearance though, and in my experience, the Wise tend to keep much of what they deem important on a need-to-know basis."

There are 6 known forms: Infiltraots, Warriors, Overseers, Queens, Dragons, and Hunters. The Overseers and Queens guide the rest, the Queens breeding more of the forms that are required to deal with their enemies. The tin-men are more mysterious, they have many varieties. They are all artificial intelligences, even their vehicles are sentient. Very little is known about their command structure though. Anything in particular you want to know?"

That, though, requires massive amounts of force to penetrate. The military use bunker busters to get through to them. There might be a way to bypass the field, but so far I don't posess such knowledge. It reflects kinetic and termal energy, and though there was some succes in experiments wiht radiation, no satisfying result was achieved."

Jesus christ the amount of energy it would take to keep up a field capable of deflecting that amount of force is staggering.

Is it a passive field? (as in, always on all the time), or is it something they have to actively activate in combat? If it's the latter, I'm thinking sneak attacks might be the best way to go.

We have been blessed with both independent thought and an amazing capacity for growth, far beyond what anyone else here can accomplish or even comprehend.

We will hunt, we will advance, and when this war finishes ravaging both sides, we will be the only victors left standing. We are the superior being here, and I think it's about time to start showing it.

He laughs a little."Do not believe that what you saw last night is indicative of this conflict, Mister Winters. Most of this war is fought unseen, in rural areas and in small groups. The bodysnatchers only employ their forms outside infiltrators when things are dire, and the tin-men rarely act, their forces taking much more time to build up in secret than their enemy's. And the Wise keep things well under control. The main reason I decided to join this group was in fact that I realized that I've been kept in the dark. The Wise's objectives are not quite as clear cut as I would prefer, and they seem to withhold much of what they know. I had the distinct feeling that they were much better informed about the situation than they let on."

Let's try to observe him a bit beforehand and see if we can get a better feel for his specific mannerisms and any other distinctive traits. Copying someone is more than just looking like them, you need to be able to walk like them and talk like them.

When you start grinding it to pieces, she smiles back, with nervous fear in her eyes. "Hey, you just managed to become even creepier, your prize is me backing the fuck off!"

The Doctor looks at you both with a look of concern. " Mister Winters, Megan, please try to keep things civil. We cannot afford to make enemies of each other." He sighs, weary and slightly bitter, his age apparent for a moment." We should get ready, I fear our time short." The gunmen start packing, taking only the bare minimum that they will need. You look on, finishing your meal, and clean your hands afterward.

You walk to the table Catherine is on, and lift her gingerly into your arms, carrying her up the short stairs. Megan opens the door of the van for you, and you place the girl on a small rug, securing her between some blankets. You look up, everyone waiting on you. "Let's get going, shall we?"

You sit through the long, dull drive, the surroundings barely visible in the night. The Doctor, seeing your apparent boredom, puts his laptop into your hands, a map of the city you are heading to on the screen, a rouute marked with a red line. He points at it. "That's the route Fadil takes. I thought it would be best if you studied the area." You nod, taking time to look over it, seeing two spots that might be good for an ambush. An alley connected to the sidewalk, and a short street that he cuts through, isolated with no line of sight from anywhere else. "I also have this. It might be of use to you, though it's barely alive." He holds up a glass tube connected to some small machine, filled with a liquid, in it some tissue floating, covered in wires and electrodes.

"Let's get geared up, then." The soldiers put on some kevlar and conceal handguns. Meg refuses their offer for the same. "If it gets bad, those won't help me one bit. Better to be inconspicuous. " They hand you a headset. "We should keep in contact. And you won't be needing this, now will you?" the second soldier says, raising a silenced gun. You pass the city limits just then. The time is 4:34 AM, Fadil won't be moving until 6:30.
    Anything you want to do?

I didn't make it clear, but the two corners are on the opposite sides and ends of the street.

Not really, just make sure to go early. If the guards have regular check in times we should wait until only a few minutes before Fadil is set to show up to take them out. Say 10-15 minutes.
Oh, pickup something that would clean away blood from the street or wherever incase things are a bit messy.

Uh, I have to admit, I have no idea what that could be. Kind of stuck thinking about a mop. It's hilarious, but not very constructive. Little help on what could do that fast/efficient enough?

No bleach. Ammonia. Follow with 'Odo-Ban', a eucalyptus scented neutral leaner. It won't react with the ammonia, but will mask the smell and help wash away evidence. Best combination available for disposing of blood stains.

The soldiers make a quick stop at a shop, and come back with household detergents. "Might have to remove blood. Better safe than sorry."

You park the van some distance from the street, and wait. Time goes by slowly, and Megan, obviously bored and anxious, turns to you. "So, one thing I don't get. You are going to an awfull lot of trouble for little Cath. Don't know you for the type who gives a shit. You gone soft on me?" she says, her face suddenly turning into a wicked grin. "Oh god, don't tell me it's twu wuw or some shit. That would be fucking hilarious."

"Fuck you, Meg. I never was one who turned his back on his friends. You should know that best. And it's not like it's so different with you and the Doc."

She clearly didn't expect a comeback like this. She's lost for words, and you can see some respect on the first two soldiers' faces. The third one simply says "You can argue later. For now, just shut it." You decide that it's the best thing to do right now. Before you notice, it's 6:15 already.

You move out, the three groups moving their separate ways. You go to the alley, climbing up to the roof when nobody's looking. Jumping from building to building, you try to stay in cover as much as possible.

Misjudging the distance for the next leap, you bash into the chimney you wanted to land behind, reeling out of cover for a second. Silently cursing yourself, you keep low as far as you can, glancing at the buiding your targets are at. You can barely make out a figure by a window, waving to another one to come over.
    Wat do?
