We're Quin Fuller Smithsson, the daughter of a renowned blacksmith (at least around these parts), and we're about to clear a level of the local mine from an insect infestation with some adventurer friends. We decide to head west from where Jim the mineforged's location, and soon enough, we find ourselves facing 12 mineroaches. No matter, we got backup!
Roll 4d20 to whack your share of mineroaches!

As your friends (Llywelyn the elven mage, Hertzog the half-orc paladin, and Kendall the human rogue) go to town on the mineroaches, you manage to kill 2, mortally wound 1, and missed 1 mineroach. The mineroach you missed decides to avenge his friends and jumped on your arm, biting. Although it drew blood, it's no big deal to you. The mortally wounded one just lay there, perhaps writing a will at its last moments. Your friends have eliminated 6 of the other mineroaches, and two fled. Should we crush this last mineroach, or just leave it alone? Roll 1d20 if you want to crush it.

This sounds like plot hook for having a pet mineroach. Can mineroaches navigate dark places easily? If so, then we shall name the roach Stella and it will be our pet/guide in the deeper part of the mines.

You decide on a no-prisoner policy and finished the little rebel's life. Meanwhile, more scurrying are heard to the west, which is the only way the tunnel's leading to.
As we move ever westward, we come to a bend in the tunnel, one where the ceiling rises high. 20 mineroaches came a-skittering, and it looks like they're a bit bigger than the last twelve. The queen must be nearby!

As you look around, your friends are almost finished with their share of mineroaches, and scattered about the place are 52 mineroach carapaces. You noticed that these could be made into... bras...
You wonder if carapace bras are in fashion.
The team heads westwards, and now they confront the massive queen and its retinue of a hundred mineroaches. Hopy shit.

I count 10 mineroaches dead, not including the queen. But, one mineroach got struck real hard by your pick, that a fragment of its shell stabbed another mineroach right on the head. So, tally 11 dead roaches in this battle.

Llywelyn can use some elemental magic (but she's a beginner) in addition to healing spells and enchant weapons; Hertzog can cast minor protective spells and use his big bastard sword to cut something real bad; Kendall can sneak a critical attack with his knife and steal something from our enemies.

A bit more description on the queen mineroach:
It's a man-sized mineroach with a bigger abdomen, and is covered in carapace harder than iron. Usually mineroaches don't have eyes, but the queen has them. Think of a cross between trilobites, roaches, and beetles, that lives in caves and mines, and you have a mineroach.
From what Uncle Grum had told you, these mineroaches are swarming level 3 to level 5, and below that their numbers dwindle because they get eaten by bigger monsters. The reason why there's a lot of monsters inside the mine is because the mine used to be dormant for some time, and when the villagers decide to go mining again they found the place to be swarming with insects and monsters.
Also, if you clear a level of the mine, Uncle Grum will supply you with 10% of whatever he got mining down here.

Let's have Hertzog up his defence and charge the queen, with the rogue riding in his wake. Have them both tear down the queen, with Kendall using his Crit on her.

As you fight the mineroach imperial guards, you ask Kendall if he can sneak a critical on the queen.
"Dude, she's on the ceiling, and its back is just too hard for my knife. Tell you what, if you can make her drop from there, I'll try to kill her quickly."
You then ask Llywelyn. "Hey Llywelyn! Do you have any spells that hit a big area??"
"Huh? Oh, area spells? I only know Wind Gust. It makes a strong wind blow on an area."

"Okay guys, I think I have a plan..."
You relay your plan, and group on the corner of the room, nudging the mineroaches away so most of the survivors (about 40 of them) are beneath the queen.
    "Llywelyn, now!"
She spoke words, mantras which flow like the winds themselves, and soon enough they became the wind itself, gathering speed and hitting the queen, trying to pry it off the mine ceiling. The spell worked... and then some. The mine ceiling chipped, and the queen fell with some ceiling fragments on its belly. The fall also eliminated most of the mineroach below, and the survivors scatter.
Hertzog chased after some of them. "Quickly! If we don't kill all of them or drive them to level 4, they'll just breed a new queen!"
But you noticed the old queen still alive, and is about to strike Llywelyn.

Well, first things first: we need a temporary holding cell for the bug and we need to get started drawing up the designs for a more permanent holding cell.

I recommend that we stuff the bug under a cast iron pot with a brick or heavy stone on top of it. From there, we can make a pit deep enough to hold the creature. The final solution should look like an animal cage big enough for the creature to have room to grow, but secure enough to hold it in safely.

When the mineroach get bigger, assuming to stays with us, we can use it as a pack mule down in the mines. This could prove to be a very worthwhile endeveor and we should make every effort getting the little bugger attached to us: taking it for walks, talking to it, feeding it food it likes.

You buy a meatbun (3 Cc), wishing you could share it with the adventurers. But they're at the mayor's office for now. So, you eat it in two bites. You head to the mine and looked for Uncle Grum. Oh hey, he's returned from mining! You get 5 hematite, and bought 15 more (30 Cc). You smelt it (5 Cc), and get two medium-quality bars of pig iron.
Returning home, you now have 52 mineroach carapaces, 2 mineroach queen carapaces, a cave Bas hide, 3/4 bar of copper and 4 bars of pig iron as smithing materials. Other than that, we also got 10 coal, 5 hematite, 2 chalcopyrite, 1 prisoner mineroach.
Decisions? As in, what shall we smith?

I say we start drawning up plans for a breastplate made of Mineroach Queen carapace. This is big project, so we should do a lot of planning ahead of time. After all, we don't know when we will get another chance like this again.

Let's plan on making the chitin bra and bikini set. Maybe several of those since they use smaller parts. Let's ask Llwelyn to help us as a model for them; we'd do the initial fitting to her.

You draw up a plan on using the queen carapaces as a breastplate. Hmm. You'd need to think this one carefully, because you only have two of them. What metal would you like to integrate into it?
Your mind wanders, and you came up with the idea of a warhammer. Hmm. You can use a bar of pig iron, but you don't have a handle yet... you'd need a sturdy wood, and maybe it's in the woods up north. But that's for later! Now, we craft the hammerhead! Or should we craft the handle from iron, too? We'd need another half bar, though.
Decisions? And specify the design of the queen carapace breastplate?

Well this one is easy to do. I'll include it in next 'update', after we decide the warhammer and the queen carapace.

Let's buy some booze for home too. The stuff we like and the stuff Llwelyn likes.

Well, not bad! You try it on, and thankfully, it doesn't chafe as much as you'd think it would. Then you think, where would be appropriate to sell this...
the mineroach squeaks again. Little guy seems hungry. On a lark, you go outside and scoop up some dirt, putting it inside the cage. The little guy eats it like it's the best thing it's eaten, ever.
You think, you should give it a name, and looking at its carapace, you notice a star-like pattern on it. Stella it is. You reinforce the cage a bit with some leftover metal slags, and put some more dirt in it.
You put the cage back near the shop entrance, and go out to buy a bottle of ale (Llywelyn also likes this flavor of ale). We meet her on the way home, she's bringing books, and... a small wooden ring. Hmm.
    decisions?

Clearly we are moving up a level in learning how to enchant. We should stay sober long enough to do the job and then share a drink afterwards, in order to celebrate.

    "Hi, Llywelyn!"
She turns to you, and blushed. Well, not as red as that other time, but still. "Need help with the books?"
"Well, t-thanks, Quin..." She blushes again.
Back home, she teaches you to enchant the ring with an elemental magic, fire in this case. Roll 1d20 to see success in enchanting.

Yeeah! You successfully bound a spell to the wooden ring, a spell that essentially turned the ring into a flashlight. Not that you know what a flashlight is, anyway. You gain a skill point in enchant! 2/5 now!

I'm all for the social lubrication, but the striptease is a bit much and will probably scare the poor elfy away.

What we should do is challenge her to another drinking came, claiming it is a rematch. Get the booze out and say loser has to wear what you made, but don't tell her what it is. The drinking game was fun last time anyway.
