So lets continue shall we? First off, Reposts of what I have:

We are a Standing Force created in the 34th Millenium from the Geneseed of the Ultramarines. We're a New generation, having the flaws bred out with a hard-on for genetic purity/superiority. Highly perceptive combatants, excellent at weeding out the hidden impurities.

Our hero, was a Librarian who led an assault on a filthy Eldar pleasure world, inflicting serious damage to the population, nearly succeeding with our attempt at erasure.

We hail from a Feral Desert World, briefly climbing down from out mountain top fortress to pick only the purest of specimens for their ascension into the ranks of what the populace would consider godhood.

We follow the Codex as pure as possible. Any divergence is to be abhorred. With our specialty being precision strikes upon a chain of command followed by the blasting of our Chaplains' sermons of hellfire and brimstone. For we are the true inheritors of the Emperor and the inferior shall not be tolerated.

Our chapter strength is nominal. But more then ready for battle due to the backing of our allies in the Adeptus Mechanicus, who supply us with a wealth of armor capabilities so that our crusades against the Dark Eldar, mutant, and xenos alike will be successful.

    speech 1

Oh, [insert chapter name here], race from arid wastes, chosen and beloved by God Emperor's will, who shines forth in many of your works set apart from all the universe by the situation of your homeworld, as well as by your faith and the honor of the holy church of the Emperor of Mankind! To you our discourse is addressed and for you our exhortation is intended.

Let the deeds of your ancestors move you and incite your minds to manly achievements; the glory and greatness of the Emperor, and of his son Roboute Guilliman, and of your other kings, who have destroyed the kingdoms of the impure, and have extended in these lands the territory of the holy church. Let the holy sepulchre of the Lord of Mankind, which is possessed by unclean xenos, especially incite you, and the holy places which are now treated with ignominy and irreverently polluted with their filthiness. Oh, most valiant soldiers and descendants of invincible ancestors, be not degenerate, but recall the valor of your progenitors.
    speech 2

"Attention Infidels. These are the words of your superior caste, the [INSERT CHAPTER NAME HERE] speaking. You worthless beings are but insects compared to our perfection. Inconsideration of this, we have exterminated [number] inferior worlds, and have decided that we will absolve you of your sins as well. The most grievous of which is existence. Surrender immediately and you shall receive our greatest mercy: a quick death. The Emperor's wrath shall visit you all."

    Well consider this;

Ultramarine geneseed is most used because it has lasted thousands of years without the progression of defects/flaws.

One could argue that it is the "purest" geneseed, in relation to the one born of their primarch.

Now yesterday we rolled up 3 Important results:

    1. New Generation (breeding out of "real" or perceived flaws)
    2. Purity Above All (hates genetic deviation/instability in humanity and even other Space Marine Chapters)
    3. Purity of Man (believe they are the perfect vision and true inheritors of the Emperor)

One could construe even a dislike of the Ultramarines? The "bred" out flaw might be seen as the displacement of the original geneseed from Roboute vs. the geneseed of the Emperor. In other words, removal of the third man (being Guilliman).

These guys could literally believe they are more pure then the Ultramarines, and that they are closer to the Emperor, then even the GK, putting themselves on level with the Custodes. Simply because of what they perceive was the flaw that was bred out. We could continue this further, making their terror tactics, more of them believing in a form of "Manifest Destiny".

    >> OP 05/07/11(Sat)17:45 No.14847455

Another suggestion would be to do them as White Armor, with Gold Trim and Blue symbol, considering that white, is somewhat a symbol of purity (eg. Brides' gown denoting virginity).

Symbol-wise, I suggest things such as:

    -Cross Fitchy?
    -Cross of St. James?

    Blood Drops? (Symbolizing genetic purity)

U's (Ultramarine Background? Although they might forsake this as it is a flaw)

Possibly a Silhouette of a Throne?

    >symbol has been drawn as a Papal Cross last I heard, due to trying to avoid the KKK symbol.

some guys idea bout librarian hero:

    Rewritin' idea from old thread:

Chief Librarian Tiberius is one of the most genetically pure and experienced heroes of the Guardians Exemplar, famously devastating an Eldar Craftworld. His one blemish is his Psyker Gene. This has caused an inchapter controversy over whether Psyker abilities are an aberration barely permitted in the chapter, or a genetic benefit that should be embraced. The main groups are lead by the Chapter Master Nero, who believes that Psykers are barely above Mutants, and Tiberius, who believes that the discrimination simply prevents one of the greatest heroes of the chapter taking his rightful place as Chapter Master.

Anyway, you can change the names if you want.
    >> OP 05/07/11(Sat)17:47 No.14847471
    the critique he recieved:

I like your idea, but I feel it would be better for another chapter, such as say, a Blood Angels successor. An inter-chapter rift about the Black Rage being either a blessing or a curse, would make for a great basis for the concept.

Now, the concept of a chapter hero and a chapter master being separate most definitely fits. With our chapter being so purist, a psyker most definitely would be unsuitable to them.

That is unless we choose to use Psykers as a well thought of unit. Considering that the emperor is a psyker. In which case, those would be revered.

Either way, I feel that your idea of psyker and chapter master being separate is a good one. We need to iron out whether psykers are a blessing or a curse.

Also, how do you feel about the psyker hero burning out? Much like Malcador the Sigillite did. Have him lead a massive assault then be forced into a position in which his body simply burns out. That way he is revered, and doesn't need to be in the running or cause issues within the chapter.
    >> OP 05/07/11(Sat)17:47 No.14847477
    on heros and hqs:

we could also have a hero who takes the role of a more, purger? In the words of an old anime I watched the "Sower of the Ashes of Death". Think of it as an honorary position, similar to Astorath of the BA. He also turns his weapon on his soldiers who fail to exhibit purity.
That sounds good. We could perhaps go with he hunts "monsters" similar to what Corax crated when he was attempting to clone the Gene-seed.

I'd think the chapter would first give the "Impure" of the Chapter a chance to die in honorable combat.

Also perhaps someone, at least in fluff, responsible for watching those that make up the Librarium. Since they are imperfect, unless considering their mighty hero is a Librarian, they think more of Librarians.
One could argue that their views on Librarians is an end to a means. Simply, a vessel that leads them towards the impurities much like a drowsing rod. At the end of the day, the rod ceases its function and will be exterminated.

Technomancer drawing of a count-as "Vulkan He'stan". And the image that started the KKK issue to be dealt with. Although when it was requested, part of the idea in the post was to imitate the custodes. Understandably so considering they are probably the "closest" to the Emperor in purity.

[As I had suspected, few members within the Guardians Exemplar were willing to talk with a “lesser being”. What reasons he had now, I had no clue. Even as we sat silently before the beginning of this record, you could tell that he had something undoubtedly swirling in his within his memories. Something that tormented him in a manner most profound. His stare, cold in nature, seemed to give off an air of remorse almost, not as though he did something wrong, but as though he lacked the power to prevent something from happening. A feeling, that I, although capable of relating to, was unable to comprehend when placed alongside my perception of an Adeptus Astartes soldier.]

It is important for you to understand, that I bear no ill will to our captain for what he did. I understand that it is part of his duty as it is now. But nothing prepares you for the first sight of this type of action.
    >Type of action?
Turning your weapon upon a fellow Astartes. One of your own kin. One of your own Chapter. Someone who by all means you should share a familial bond with.
    >Maybe you should elaborate on the role then first. Before we get into the gritty stuff.
Maybe so. I guess I’ll start with all the information pertaining to the First Company Captain then.
    >The First Company turned their weapons upon you?
No, no, not quite that. The First Company Captain, possesses, a role that although desirable in many aspects, is also the heaviest one could imagine. He is the sower of the ashes of death, the redeemer of the fallen and the one final salvation in the eyes of the Emperor for many of us.
    >> OP 05/07/11(Sat)17:56 No.14847584

    >Final Salvation of the Emperor?
Give me time to elaborate guardsman, or you will be cutting your interview short. Look, to put it simply, his job requires him to kill his brethren. We, as you know, are the exemplars of purity. Perfect, paradisiac, flawless, untarnished. We are, as the Adeptus Mechanicus willed us, closer to the Emperor in nature than any other marine chapter. Our reputation is unblemished. But for a reason. Our First Company Captain is charged with the task of erasing any blemishes that choose to rear their ugly head. First and foremost, within the enemy. And secondly, within ourselves. Should a member of our ranks, show less then unmitigated perfection, we are to be purged.
Yes. Killed. Missing in Action. Eradicated. Of course we take a rather ceremonial route at times. Those of us who have earned honours, have ritual of sorts. In symbolic nature, we are cremated while mimicking our father. Seated on a small chair of gold. Accepting this final gout of pain, so that we may join him in rapture. For those who have yet to earn honours, or are psykers, their fate is swift, and on the battlefield. Dabbling within the realm of the Warp is a dangerous task. Sometimes psykers burn out, sometimes the Warp grabs a hold. To us, that level of infection, is like a cardinal sin. Respect may be due, but one has to remember, that even registering as psyker, by nature, is imperfect, a stain on our white armour.
    >> Anonymous 05/07/11(Sat)17:57 No.14847588
wow my chapter my chapter is so far from that it may as well be the opposites.

my chapter left the ultramarines at around m39-m40, and they left because they were sick of how the ultramarines were so strict in their ruling and organisation.
but they were only 1 company at the time, and after a successful campaign in a nearby system the administratum gave them full rights as a chapter, and are giving them geneseed for the time being until they are at full chapter strength.
    >> OP 05/07/11(Sat)17:57 No.14847594

    >I take it, are talking by fire then. So the Captain has a flamer?
To a degree you could call it that. When this role was created, our Masters of Forge, and our Techmarines dabbled upon making a weapon, but eventually decided to head to their colleagues with the Admech for some additional help. See, what they designed, is both amazing, and horrible. A small flamer, much like a handflamer of the Adeptus Sororitas or the Blood Angels, only, bearing firepower comparable to that of the Forgefather of the Salamanders, Vulkan He’stan. But not without cost.
    >Monetary cost or other?
Other. This relic of ours, is an object of penance. Similar to self-flagellation. With each use of this item, with each gust of flame that roars out, he sears himself to the bone. Burning away his own flesh, as he bathes us in holy fire. Hence his unwillingness to use it on our foes. It is a rite, that only perfection is worthy of.

[He looks to his left for a second, almost as if he heard something my ears couldn’t register. Then continues]

Although he scorches himself, he feels it not. You see, this armor he wears, modelled like a Custode, houses machinations that only the brilliance of the admech could devise. Upon your first entrance into the armor, a large number of syringes and tubes stab into you. Pumping you with drugs of which I have no idea. They numb the pain. To a degree. They give him a “cold” feeling. He feels not the burn, but an ever present frigidity similar to that of space. With each use of the weapon, he feels a sharp twinge of heat. It would be to you as heating up the metal of your lasgun and grabbing it. A tiny singe. Short and unable to quell the feeling of death within his world. His world indeed, for in lonely job, he is unable to speak, and unable to remove his armour. Think of it like a miniature dreadnought. Except removing the ability to vocalize.
    >> OP 05/07/11(Sat)17:59 No.14847615

    >How is it you know all this then?
I was once considered for ascension into the rank of that angel of death. When considered, you are privy to information others are not. Some of which, is written by the Captain himself. Notes of which he feels are important for you to know. This current captain, felt that, the feelings he felt, the darker nature of his rank, are what was important to express.
    >I take it you chose to avoid the job.
Not entirely. I was deemed unfit after watching him incinerate one of my closest battle brothers.
    >So that is what is making this hard for you then?
Hard for me? You grasp little understanding of us guardsman. I accept what had happened fully. I saw, for my own eyes, as the warp corrupted my battle brother. As his bones distorted, as his flesh writhed, as his calls for help devolved into grunts and roars of animalistic nature. But I also remember the screams and cries as he burned away. Each one, to some degree ringing in my ears as though there might be some remains of who I once knew begging me to quench the fire that removed him from our ranks and our world.
    >So the Captain saved you then?
You could say that. You could also say, that this incident was a curse of sorts. Being deemed unfit, I am scheduled for execution. My chair being prepped as we speak.
    >> OP 05/07/11(Sat)18:00 No.14847623

    >What? Over just that? Has he executed others for that then?
Yes, for that simple witnessing, I am being burnt like a martyr. My being is tainted, more importantly, my mind. Which is visible when I described the death of my brethren. Many of us have succumbed to this fate. Sometimes multiple squads at a time are put to death.

[At this point he looked at me in the eyes, moisture gathering near the edges of his own. It was the only time I ever saw that kind of face from an Astartes, and its something I’ll never forget.]

I called you hear, because I felt that this knowledge should be released to the Imperium. Not for reasons of heresy, but so those who hear it, can understand us. We, although pure, and amazing in nature, are bearers of a burden others fail to carry. With the blood of the Emperor flowing through us, we mush make every effort to maintain is beauty. Like I said before, I bear no ill will towards my Captain. If you want to put it simply, I love him as one would a sibling, and understand what he has to do. It is far worse than mercy killing a pet. I can’t imagine living a life such as he, it would break any lesser man. So, if you would please guardsman, might I ask you attend my hour of redemption.
    >> OP 05/07/11(Sat)18:00 No.14847628

[After that I left. Unsure of the situation, but present the following day. Its rather the interesting spectacle. The marine himself, is led out, robed in white, doused in oil. And asked to sit upon a golden cathedra. He sat there for a few brief seconds of time, readying himself, then finally nodding towards his captain before closing his eyes. Then it happened. A blast of white hot fire, from the arm of his merciful angel. Engulfing him wholly. Lo and behold, his captain stood aside him. That familiar shape of an alabaster-white eagle helm cast downwards, almost as if mourning his death. His shoulders, heavy, slouched, bearing the wait of a saviour. His statuesque figure, still as if hung from a hook. A silent testament to those fallen from grace. All of this infront of the stone-faces of his battle brothers. And somehow, even as I writing this now, I feel a pang of doubt that it will reach the surface of the public, or ever really understood for the level of gravity, the level of adonic pulchritude. Such is the life of a war correspondent really. People never really understand what you see.]

BTW, if the hero is the Chief Librarian, how can the Guardians Exemplar hate Psykers enough to purge all of those who become members?

    Anyway, chapter relation ideas:

Ultramarines: Neutral, they are respected for their deeds but the Guardians Exemplar dislike their pride and enforcement of the Codex.
    Iron Hands: I dunno.
Space Wolves: Loathing, Space Wolves think that the Guardians Exemplar are dicks.
Blood Angels: Loathing, they think that they should be eradicated due to the Black Rage/Red Thirst impurities.
    Dark Angels: I dunno
    Raven Guard: I dunno
Imperial Fists: Respect, because of Rogal Dorn's relationship with the Emprah.
    Salamanders: I dunno
Grey Knights: Heavy respect, the only chapter they regard as their equals.

They would probably view the Raven Guard as inferior due to their genetic defects as well. Not to sure about the Iron Hands: On one hand they want to make himself into perfect beings, but on the other its because they how their fleshy bits, which would put off a chapter dedicated to eugenics.

Oh and they'd hate the Salamanders cuz lol KKK marines.

    Okay here is some shit:

The most important of the Guardians Exemplar are known as the Paragon Council. Their members are the 1st Company Captain, the Chief Apothecary, the Chief Chaplain and the Chapter Master. Currently, they were meeting in the center of their fortress. The Chief Apothecary started the meeting. "Brothers, you wonder why the few Psykers we get are so powerful before they are purged, do you not?" The Chapter Master commented "Yes. When we were fighting that Eldar, Nero managed to seriously devastate them singe-handedly. Saved the third company. He could be an asset were it not for the impurity of Psykers." The Apothecary nodded. "Yes. As you know, the Grey Knights, our only equals among the Space Marines, consist entirely of Psykers. They are said to be made of the Geneseed of the Emperor, and our Geneseed has been distilled enough that we might as well also have his." "What are you saying?!" the Chief Chaplain growled. "Brothers, from recent experiments, I have discovered that our Geneseed may possibly amplify the powers of every Psyker who joins us."
    >> Anonymous 05/08/11(Sun)08:30 No.14854576
The Chapter Master looked shocked. "We have a defect?! Impossible!" The Apothecary replied "It is a blessing. I believe that it is related to how the Emperor was an extremely powerful Psyker." The Chaplain fell into a rage. "HE WAS MORE THAN AN EXTREMELY POWERFUL PSYKER! THIS IMPURITY IS A LIE! WE OUGHT TO KILL YOU FOR THIS BLASPHEMY!" The First Company Captain restrained his zealous brother. The Chapter Master remarked "Calm down, brother." He looked back to the Apothecary and said "If this is true, this could tear the chapter apart. Your hypothesis shall be known only by us, until I deem otherwise." The Apothecary stated "It is only a theory. I need a live subject to confirm my suspicions." The Chapter Master looked at the First Company Captain, and commanded "Keep Tiberius in the dungeons. He needs to be studied by the Chief Apothecary. If his theory is true, may the Emperor help us all."

The thing I learned from this story is that the First Company Captain needs a title.

I wrote the intro for the wiki. How does this sound?

The Guardians Exemplar are another product of fat/tg/uys playing around with the Chapter Creation tables from Rites of Battle. After a lot of dice rolling, the results came in; an Ultramarines successor chapter so stuck-up their own arses that they'd make Rowboat Girlyman blush.

Established during the 34th Millennium, meaning they were part of a founded between somewhere between the 6th and 9th foundings, the Guardians Exemplar value purity above all; be it by the Codex Astartes or by eugenics. They consider themselves to be the inheritors of the Emperor and believe anything other then perfection is unworthy of the Imperium. Hailing from the feral desert world of <INSERT NAME HERESTAN>, the chapter rarely ever ventures down from their mountain-top fortress, only doing so to pick out the “purest specimens” for recruitment into the chapter; an act the Feral Population consider to be an ascension into godhood.

waaaay different. Guardian Angels are Salamanders-level nice, Guardians Exemplar are douches supreme.

maybe have him as some form of chapter champion etc?
    >> OP 05/09/11(Mon)01:01 No.14863854

    And my interpretation:

Ultramarines = Lesser Guardians Exemplar. They are less pure.
    Blood Angels = Unpure.
    Space Wolves = Unpure.
Iron Hands = Unpure. Dislike of heavy mechanization, but respect for forging good bonds with mutual allies being Admech.
Ravenguard = Unpure. Corax was a bitch for trying to clone the geneseed.
Salamanders = Unpure. High chance of deficiencies.
Imperial Fists = Bout the same as Ultramarines.
Traitor legions = Unpure and full of decadence.
Black Templar = Same as Ultramaines.
Dark Angels = Unpure and distrusted, they are hiding their Impurity.
Grey Knights = Level of respect, but slightly disliked possibly. Eg. Crowe using Daemon weapon. Dislike of Mordrak.
    Custodes = high respect.

We should decide on a homeworld name for them. Maybe based on Akkadian/Ancient Mesopotamia/Early Indus for name?

It was in the early 35th Millenium, roughly around 345M35 when the Guardian's Exemplar first touched down on their current homeworld, Sacranus. Since the last years of the 34th Millenium, the Guardian’s Exemplar had been watching the world closely. Scrutinizing and studying its inhabitants. Watching them, as their primal instincts and tribal wars asserted dominance over the various other flora and fauna. Never once considering the rebirth that would soon be offered to them. Landing upon a massive natural monolith. They began to set up base. And once the project was finished contact with the natives was established. This contact has long since been mythologized by the inhabitants of Sacranus. Figures, clad in a blinding white, heralded by smoke descended from the mountain top. These figures, these angels, helped the natives. They taught them methods of construction, and stole away some of the Sacranussians for ascent into godhood. This meeting was short-lived. The angels disappeared almost as quickly as they came. But that was not the end of their interaction. Time and time again, plagues have smote the Sacranussians. Plagues, unnatural in origin. Plagues that might be only described as targeted. Furthermore, there have been punishments.
    >> Anonymous 05/09/11(Mon)19:39 No.14871804
In the 37th Millenium, the Sacranussians, believed that they could build, a tower, up towards the top of the mountain. To glimpse this realm in which the angels dwelled. A foolish attempt. When the angels, heard of this endeavor, their attack was swift, and terrifying. A blast of unimaginable power fell from the heavens. Obliterating the tower. Destroying much of their surrounding equipment. But this blast was not the extent of their wrath. Flowing down like a waterfall of hate, the angels descended. Dispensing justice by fire. Riddling the villages with bullets and fire. Decimating the population in one fell sweep. Reminding them that the Emperor’s chosen sons, are not to be meddled with. And as quickly as they came, they disappeared again. Up into their heavenly abode. As such, the Sacranussians view them with a rather weary respect. These are gods, and angering them is cardinal sin. They are not worshiped, but simply referenced in oral tradition and myth. Referenced as a force of salvation and as a force of retribution. It is a blessing to lose one of your own towards their ranks, but it is also a cursed fate. Knowing that this being he becomes will be forbidden from association with their past.

OP, you do know that most of the Imperium is aware that the Emperor is a psyker, right?
    >> Anonymous 05/09/11(Mon)20:13 No.14871979

It's a repost from a former thread. Not OP's work. Furthermore, the chapter seems to be associating Psykers (excluding the Emperor/Custodes/GK) with Magnus and a higher chance of falling to chaos/impurity.

"Many thousands of years ago, there was a human so pure in body and mind he was like a god. We know him as the Emperor. And he unified humanity, and created twenty sons. And from the genes of the twenty sons came our kind, the Space Marines. But those sons were not pure as their father. Eight of them fell to worshiping the Dark Powers, twisted mockeries of the aspects of purity. Khorne, a distortion of strength. Nurgle, a distortion of health. Slaanesh, a distortion of perfection. And Tzeentch, a distortion of wisdom. These eight sons waged a war that ended with the Emperor defeating them at the cost of his life. He now sits on the Golden Throne, a device made to preserve him until he can rule again. From one of his sons, Roboute Gulliman, our chapter found it's ancestry. But we knew that he was impure, and so we distilled our geneseed until it was closer to the Emperor's than any other chapter. Over the years, you shall become stronger and stronger, until you are truly worthy of this *points to custode-esque helmet*. Now go."-Scout Company Captain Othrus's speech to new initiates.

    >> Anonymous 05/10/11(Tue)01:50 No.14875148

As far as I am concerned, they may be viewed with respect. As "daughters" of the Emperor. Possibly worth protection. Considering that the custodes felt that some were worthy to see the Emperor. That would be an ideal mimicked by the Guardian's Exemplar.

    >> Anonymous 05/10/11(Tue)12:58 No.14879217

Yeah, its from "Rites of Battle" or something like that. We've got four chapters at the moment (Guardians Exemplar, Abyssal Jaws, Emperor's Nightmare and the Rising Sons). We've also had a few duds, like this Aztec-themed chapter and the Emperor's Bears.

So yeah, like I said in the AJ thread (before it felt The Call of the Deep), a writefag needs to make a story with a Deathwatch Team composed out of all the four of the custom chapters. The inevitable clashing between the AJ and the GE will be delicious.
