    remember that space pirate/dwarf fortress idea all those months ago?

    well we're working on it. progress is slow as fuck, but hey, its getting done.

    sadly, dwarf fortress is a lot more hard coded than i thought (can't change much of it) so i've had to improvise with some of the creatures

    here's an alpha of the mod. right now all thats added is the space pirate playable race (with custom sprites for them), a few notable megabeasts like ridley, samus, and crocomire, some creatures, a few metroid inspired metals, and phazon. its based on the ,25 version of dwarf fortress 2010, and is right now using a pheobus graphics set (which will be replaced in the future)

    any feedback or balancing ideas would be great. also, ideas are welcome (and actually sorely needed... i have a list of whats to be added but its pretty damn short).

    also, kill zoomers as fast as you can. seriously. i didn't think it was possible to make them worse than cats...

    perhaps. its similar to dwarf fortress, a bit easier early on because the space pirates have more damaging attacks than dwarves and aren't alcohol dependant, but their skin is brittle as hell (its chitin) so you need to know what you're doing to get a decent fort up quickly

    dunno what plants and stuff to add in. the only game i remember with significant flora was metroid prime, and even then most were just ice/hot/water variants of the same plant

    also i'm unsure if i should let corpses and plants be used as a fuel sources... would make sense for space pirates but would make the game a bit too easy, i fear.

    everything has fat, even insects like cocroaches . also the way the layering system works makes it so that there has to be something there or the creature doesn't work... other than bone, skin, cartiladge, or guts. if someone comes up with a substitute tissue i'd be more than happy to change it, as many creatures have fat placeholders.

    I am super glad to hear this.

    I would make threads asking about this thing but got no responses. I don't know enough about DF to help, but Oh man I gotta try this game when it is done. I first gotta figure out how to get then mod Dwarf fortress though. I always had trouble getting past the visual.

    so ive been messing around in object testing mode

    the only time i've managed to kill samus is with quite literally an army of fully phazon equipped pirates and a couple of ridleys

    and apparently dark samus can't be killed
