Welp, this quest is failed.

You are Allariv Earth'mus, illithid flesh-shaper extraordinaire. To your mind flayer kin you were always a dangerously driven and non-conforming being, which eventually led you to leave your hive and the oppressive rule of the elder brain to become an adventurer. Using a simple hat of disguise, you became "Al" the eccentirc wizard, touring the world and the planes beyond in search of power and knowledge.

And now it seems your long search has paid off in an unexpected manner. Along with a group of other general creeps and scum you managed to penetrate the fortress of a notoriously cruel and twisted Balor in the Abyss. You fought your way through his minions, paying for every foot won in blood. But success was yours. But success was yours. Even though all of your party have fallen, strewn across the Balor's throne room like ragdolls, so have all the demons elite. Defeated and broken, the Balor himself offered you a bargain for his life. His most prized possession, an artifact of great power, in return for his pitiful continued existence.

And now you hold it. The Despoiler of Flesh. Wriggling pleasantly in your disguised hand, the rod is throbbing with the power to reshape any living thing according to your wishes.

The Balor looks sullenly at you.

What happens next?

Can someone post the Despoiler's stats?

I'm not saying that this has to become a fapfic, but it looks like we can look forward to atleast a little exploitative Mind Flayer romance. We can draw a discreet veil over it if necessary, but I think we're mature enough to let it go that way anyway.

You quickly make up your mind. The heavily wounded Balor begins to rise, thinking the deal is still in effect, when you hit him square in the chest with the Despoiler. Feeling a jolt of energy rush up your arm, you are rewarded with the sight of the artifact working. The Balor's eyes widen in terror.

"Wait! We had a deal!" he sputters.

Quickly, his massive form shrinks, and the heavy red-scaled skin becomes paler and softer. Armor plates melt into his skin as his limbs straighten out. He screams, a terrifying wail of helplesness as he falls to his knees. His massive bat wings shed their leathery hide, becoming feathered. Finally the demonic shape slims, gains feminine curves, and a mane of darkest midnight hair billows out from the ex-Balor's scalp. Staring down at her hands in disbelief and fear, the erinyes shudders. She looks up at you, her dark eyes fearful.

If you fought a balor and won it's because you have 20 levels of psion or sorcerer under your slimy belt.

The erinyes listens to your warning, and you can almost see her pale skin grow a little paler. Doubtless, being turned into a being on the opposite side of the cosmic scale AND having her power reduced enormously has spooked her. She nods.

You casually stroll around the room. Rapidly decomposing demon bodies are everywhere, a few mariliths, several lesser summoned demons and other fiendish creatures. There's an assortment of demon weapons here, but no artifacts of special power. Your companions (as little loyalty as there was between you of course) are just as bad off. Some are charred or reduced to putrified heaps, beyond any form of recovery. However, two of them seem to be alive still.

One is the female elven wizard who proved useful at creating portals to other planes and providing firepower in the past. She was in her prime a coldly beautiful but stern female (disgusting humanoid of course) who had little love for you. Now she's burned almost beyond recognition, most of her gear destroyed, and will likely expire soon.

The other still-living creature is the male duergar warrior who joined up a few months ago. He too is badly damaged, but seems almost conscious. Apparently dwarves are tough to kill. His eyes are glazed over and burned, but he blinks fluid away to try and look at you when you pass close. His voice escapes as a hoarse rattle.

"I finally have what I want, and you... both of you are now no longer useful. However, I am not unreasonable. If you swear to join me, and serve me unquestioningly, I will save your life and even give you my blessing of new flesh.

Unsurprisingly, after a moment of contemplation, the duergar nods. Unfortunately it seems the elf is unconscious, or out of it enough that she can make to visible sign that she has heard. The dwarf has agreed, at least.

Wow, I was the fourth poster who suggested illitihid in the first place. Though not surprising, a lot of this talk is dissapointing. What our agenda should be:

-Convert all of the spare flesh into an easily transportable form.
-Create flesh and bony collars/spinal implants that are semi intelligent and can psionically speak to each other to allow communication (and some control) over hosts. Give to our three new servants.
-Gate into an area where there is a massive amount of organic flesh/plants/anything
-Make an enormous living hall (with tentacles for effect) and furnish with living accomodations for an army
-Shape a pair self reproducing muscular and mindless illithari-warriors and leave them to consume the rest of the plane (no need to go into details of the reproduction) until everything has been assimilated.
-Send each of our three generals to a different plane with an army. We will seek revenge back home.

In regards to transporting the flesh, I like the idea of transforming them all into bone miniatures. We know we can alter size, and it's more creepy than just a ball of flesh. Then we can pick which ones to feast on, and which ones to make into gold statues.

-Our gargoyle guard is poorly equipped. give him some fire breath (dragon organ) to make him more adaptable when he can't fly.
-Our elf may be properly humiliated but she won't be much use in battle. Give her massive psionic powers to make her more useful. But put a fail safe in so that she can't ever direct them towards us. The spinal implant could accomplish this. Also, bio-armor.
-We need to make a force that can effectively fight in the underdark and better than illithids can. I would suggest pseudo-natural bullettes or wurms with riders strapped to them in modified pustules. But we'll need more biomass for either.
-All of our servants need a distinguishing mark. We must make ourselves known in this world and all worlds. Tentacles are good. Extra eyes, spinal implants with jutting spikes, and retractable bonespikes are also good.

I like that we are now essentially a mini-cthulhu in physical form. We should totally run with that idea. More ideas:

-For the biomass problem here is one solution: Find a plant or, if our powers only work on animals, a plant-type monster. Gate it to the positive energy plane. Let it grow uncontrollably through accelerated life cycles. Harvest biomass. The idea of a base of operations for an evil guy on the positive energy plane is delicious.
-Upon reaching the elder brain target it's frontal cortex (intelligent thought) and implant it with another psionic implant. Although now I seem to like the idea of actually PUTTING the elder brain into a body befitting its power.

-Xura will be useful as an advisor. She is used to managing power and is ancient and wise. She can also be trained to lead a small tactical force with vorpal blade and expert maneuverability. Not to mention a lust for blood. Perhaps dominion over devils and demons alike should be a goal. We can make her a merging of ernyes and succubus. Or pitlord and balor. Whichever. With some aberrant tentacles for effect of course.

-As for our illitid army, we can select the most useful and grant them some transformative abilities in our image. The less useful can be shaped to become lower officers in our army with psionic and physical power at their disposal.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. For now, we need to discern the quickest path to the Elder Brain. There will obviously be defenses against just teleporting right in. The run and gun method might be the best. But I think we should have some forces with us just in case. And we have a town to explore down below. Iriania should be punished by forcible transfiguration through several unpleasant forms, and an extension in her current body of half orc/drow for a year or until she starts showing improved behavior. Then show the pleasure points of the female form on us while we are in a far less pleasing shape, and after we've put the despoiler somewhere safe

Al should have no one fixed shape. Each body should be used according to the situation- elf for negotiation, etc. Default should be mildly reminiscent of ilthid form, but with lips. Lips are very useful
