The battle for Titan was hard fought and won. Enemy retaliation came swiftly but despite being outnumbered, the HLF forces pushed out a win. Against Makarians, Xenoforms, the newly Encountered Tera Zera - ODF Forces pushed back again and again as their ranks swelled from unlikely allies and eager combatants from the homefront.

Titan has now been reestablished as the Fortress planet that it once was and likely forever will be as it is quickly reaffirming its place as a primary forward base for another push.

Unsurprisingly many Executor forces have opted to take this small reprieve and snatched every hour they could muster celebrating the time they earned for themselves.

Command rooms continue to hum with nothing more than the hum of monitors and TAs, Engineers and researchers alike were struck with inspiration began filling their once busy schedule with personal pet projects, reconstruction missions, and defense planning.
And soldiers holed up in bunks so long that some wondered if they were one of the many casualties.

The ceremonial grounds were littered with paper cups and flag beaten masts as echoes of combat drills clapped in the distant dunes.

For all the battle and all the war that had occured for nearly two months straight, the HLF has bought themselves a day of peace.

    " The Rescue Mission"
Was at the back of everyone's minds. Even the most basic recruit of the squad knew that Penavol had something to do with it.
The science guys along with some researchers saw a bit of adventure to this as well and were the first to hint at researching possibilities that involved the use of a capture Makarian device. Salvage would also collect a much more comprehensive set of useable parts from the space debris that pieced the puzzle together bit by bit.

Soldiers rested, others showed obvious signs of getting ready. It was apparent that IQ or some unnamed faction within the higher ups was poised to stop them somehow and Adoria was fast running out of options to keep her hold on them. And so she too had disappeared for sometime during semi formal routines unless her presence called for it.

    The fight wasn't done.

They weren't going to leave this one behind.

    >Fine, I'll go requisition your deathpress jammer thingamabob thing.

He reviewed the list of materials and equipment requested for the "test run" of the modified Cruiser. Included in all the gear the science and engineering crews requested was equipment requested by Captain Geist, officially to handle "the event of accidental reverse time-travel." With a few last-minute additions, Walker reviewed the list one more time, then sent it to Commander Keen.

Walker sighed, then cracked his knuckles as he returned to the endless amounts of paperwork that needed his attention. Even with McMillan, the number of forms and documents sent to his desk meant that he was going to be very busy in the immediate future.

And this excluded the ever-growing list of tasks that he needed to do, which included visiting the Xenoform pens, talking to Domino, finding Adoria, and talking to Fierstrom about Blacksad.

He sighed, and reached for a cup of recaff only to remember that it was emptied some time ago.

Nobody said being a CO was easy, but sometimes he cursed whoever thought it was a good idea to make him one.

They didn't bother to give him nano treatment, since they wanted to make sure his quick clotting blood was working properly, and could help him heal on his own. Aggoria felt like decades past.
    To some this was true.

It took some impossible set of events for the drone to walk through the transcriptor. For one, it wasn't every day that a mining construct was given a pair of legs which then walked itself onto a recruiting station.

2 years of armor training and countless tests later, the drone with a kinetic helm walked through various checkpoints before finally being assigned to an armor squad.

What strange set of coincidences and surprises when the mark of a celestial bear was pasted against the hull of a bitank he was to ride in.

"Bravo Armor division, is that right ?" The officer asks.
"Yes, sir," Grimbled the motionless doll. " Here at last "

    >> BlackBox joins the fray.
    =====

    The response came quickly enough,
"Accepted" the letter replied. With this note all the pieces were falling into place, a scientific expedition to test out warp travel came with but a few conditions:

A list of soldiers. Some of them nameless privates that answer directly to another authority. But one name caught Walker's eye.

" Corporal Blackbox " the drone introduce itself with a salute." I will be joining bravo's from here on and serving in your armor section due to concerns from Tactical Command."

The drone was motionless. Blaze was sipping the last of the cider. But poured in an extra cup of some non-descript bottle in the silence.

Coincidence? Walker knew better than to believe in such a thing. When he saw the name in the list of soldiers to be added to the "expedition," he knew there was another force acting behind the scenes.

Then again, there always was one, usually one of the many factions of the Inquisition.

Blackbox. Or rather, Corporal Blackbox. Found and named what seemed like ages ago on Aggronia, the mining tank AI repurposed to fight for a resistance force had, upon absorption of an ODF Knight droid AI, found itself repurposed once again for battle.

That AI won that battle, he thought humorously to himself.

Was it providence that brought this machine back to the people who gave him new meaning, or was it something more sinister? Either way, something stirred in Walker's mind; something that drove him to enter R00 as an additional crew member to the expedition.

He reviewed the list again. Geist, R00, and Blackbox. Present in that battle so long ago, they would now find themselves fighting alongside each other once again.

He sent a letter informing the Commander of the new addition. Hopefully, he wouldn't mind entertaining a whim of an old soldier.

Scarcely surviving the onslaught between two juggernauts that is the Titan Orbital Battle, Ahab had gotten so used to the constant gunfire and missile salvos, so much that the lull in the battles were making him a little edgy. He kept thinking of how to dodge enemy missiles and laser beams, even into his dreams. But his battle-soaked thoughts were broken when the officer spoke his name. He then walked to the counter.
"Good evening, Mr. Ahab. We hear you have a suggestion for the improved Predator design?"
    "Indeed, sir."
"The design you submitted to us were a bit... inadequate."
The officer is holding a paper napkin scribbled with vaguely comprehensible symbols and drawings.
"What's there not to understand, sir?"
Ahab leaned closer to the officer.
"Simple, sir: Harpoon guns on the underside of the Predator."
The officer lets his jaw hang loose.
"Honestly, sir? I just want to harpoon a big, fat Makarian, and then drag it kicking and screaming to its doom while I shoot at it with my guns."

    >Try and push for harpoon guns/grappling guns for Predators.

They can have claws, you know. That extend. In a Bionic Commando-esque fashion.

It came about because the original term for Predators was "Armslave," and it seemed kind of odd that one of their features, which was modular arms, was never really implemented.

Plus, arms imply hands, and Predators don't have hands.

Hell, if one player managed to get arms on an Ag (which shouldn't, really), then it should be pretty easy for Ahab to mod the Armslave grappling arm to a harpoon.

"We stopped calling the planet Rinn's Landing a while ago. It just sounds too egotistical."

The system of Eridan was found relatively late during the age of expansion following Humanity's exodus from Earth. The fifth planet from Eridan, the star after which the system is named, was found to have a geology and climate perfectly suited to not only harboring human life, but also to possess an indigenous population of flora and fauna. In many ways, the lifeforms of the planet mirror agricultural plants and animals of Earth, often to such a degree that they were simply named after such life forms. Some examples are the Eridani hen, the Eridani cow and Eridani wheat, as well as exotic fauna such as the Eridani Stalker, which prey upon the mostly helpless herbivorous creatures. Seeing the unusual agricultural value of the planet, the first colonists set up and began cultivating the native life forms, which were perfectly edible in practically all their forms. Eridan V was originally named Rinn's Landing, after the explorer who discovered it, but this name had since come to apply to the major space hub on the planet's surface; The planet itself is simply referred to as Eridan V. Eridan V became famous for their large exports of non-protocultured foodstuffs; at the height of it's prosperity, Eridan V was exporting roughly 27 billion tons of food annually to the rest of humanity.
    >> [K] Blaze !HeLloxNGm. 04/28/11(Thu)01:29 No.14739274
"You don't drink Eridani Quick Silver for the taste. You drink it to get drunk, and maybe a little high."
"Well that wasn't so bad, I don't feel drunk at OH GOD."

Geologically, the surface of Eridan V is dominated by vast plains with small, rolling mountain chains out of which flow river complexes that lead into the relatively shallow fresh water seas. There are three rough subsets of Eridani agricultural ecology, each capable of hosting their own type of agriculture. The first is the mountain areas, which are more limited than the plains and coastal marsh in their growing capacity, but which spawned a unique culture, known as Eridani Mountain Farmers. Facing their own challenges on the agricultural front, the mountain regions nevertheless thrived, cultivating much of the same type of things as the plains. One export from the mountain region that is famed throughout humanity is Eridani Quick Silver, an alcoholic beverage which while "only" 160 proof, is mixed with a small amount of toxin from the Eridani Bristle Thorn, which is known to have psychoactive properties. The legality of Eridani Quick Silver is questioned, but most people ignore such trivialities for the feeling of "being slapped in the brain by a silver brick wrapped in lime slices."
    >> [K] Blaze !HeLloxNGm. 04/28/11(Thu)01:30 No.14739284
The second is the upper plains area, which is where most of Eridani agriculture was based. With large amounts of flat ground, the upper plains regions cultivated the most basic types of foodstuffs and accounted for the majority of exports from the region. The natural river complexes serve as a natural irrigation system, making farming here that much simpler. The last region is the coastal marsh region. Lacking any natural satellites, the tidal shifts along the coasts of Eridan are highly predictable; the tides rise during the day, and fall during the night, influenced by Eridan's gravity. This resulted in a unique, nocturnal culture, the people of which sleep during the day, when the tides are high, in stilted buildings, then awake during the night to cultivate and harvest the unique amphibious flora and fauna. Eridani marshweed is a popular substitute for Terran seaweed, and Eridani salamander tails are considered a delicacy.

"My family has lived here for five generations, cultivating this land. These are my sons. These are my daughters. They will be the sixth generation."
"The Eridani are peculiar. Ask them for something politely, and they're likely to give it to you. Try to take it, and you'll have a fight on your hands."

Relatively recent deep scans by HLF survey teams revealed that vast quantities of protoprotein lay beneath the mountain chains of Eridan V. With the war against the Exalted, the HLF was in dire need of such resources, and pushed for the establishment of extraction facilities to tap into these deep reservoirs. However, this would have caused the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Eridani living in the mountain chains. The Eridani had always been known for having a "don't bother us, we won't bother you," attitude. None too keen towards the idea of being displaced, and somewhat removed from the war, the Eridani resisted, sometimes violently. They ignored HLF claims that Exalted forces were drawing ever closer to Eridan.

"Rinn's Landing has fallen. Estimated death toll is 256 million and rising. HLF forces have assured their military support. Stock up on essential living requirements. Remain in your homes. Pray for deliverance."

The Exalted invasion struck in the midst of turmoil, descending on the denizens of Eridan V without remorse or pity and killing 37% of the planet's population within the first week. The PDF was severely undermanned, and powerless against the numbers of the Xenoforms and the technology of the Makarians. HLF forces in the area conducted hit and run attacks to stall Exalted forces until reinforcements could arrive, but were insufficient to do anything more than dent the onslaught. The true salvation of Eridan V would come not at the hands of HLF reinforcements, but by the tenacity of it's native population.
    >> [K] Blaze !HeLloxNGm. 04/28/11(Thu)01:35 No.14739313
"They probably would have kept fighting the HLF if the Exalted never attacked. I guess sometimes it takes a kick in the teeth to wake people up."

The HLF declared that it was prepared to arm the citizens of Eridan V if the people were willing to fight for the survival of their home. The number of Eridani to answer the call was shocking; within three days, 30 million Eridani flocked to HLF armories dropped to supply equipment to the people. By the end of the week after the announcement, over one hundred million Eridani stood, armed and ready to push the Exalted from their land. The Eridani, with their new found strength, held out against attack after attack, never giving an inch of ground to the invaders, holding out long enough for HLF reinforcements to arrive. The HLF fleet defeated the Exalted fleet and cleansed the remainder of Xeno and Makarian ground forces through orbital bombardment. 73% of Eridan V's population lay dead, but it remained in Human hands. And, most importantly to the HLF, so too did the untapped reserves of protoculture.
    >> [K] Blaze !HeLloxNGm. 04/28/11(Thu)01:36 No.14739321
"Eridani culture believes in paying back debts several times over, which is why most Eridani try to avoid being in debt at all. Eridan V's been in debt to the HLF ever since the invasion, and it's unlikely to change anytime soon."

The Eridani allowed the HLF unrestricted access to their land for the purposes of tapping the great protoculture reserves. What was more, they volunteered a large amount of their people's DNA templates for the ODF draft. Roughly 80% of all Eridani have submitted a proxy for recruitment into the ODF, all of whom are, for sentimental purposes, originally grown from Eridani protoculture, claiming that the blood and flesh of their new sons and daughters should be made from the blood and flesh of their planet.

Eridan V is no longer the agricultural powerhouse it once was. While some agriculture takes place, it all goes to the HLF military to fuel the war effort. Eridan V's greatest contributions come from it's protoculture wells and volunteer DNA templates. Most commanders have a love/hate relationship with Eridani proxies. On one hand, they like being useful to their unit and don't seem to fear death. On the other, they tend to be mischievous and impetuous thrill seekers. They are as a whole not inclined to disobey orders however, and it's easy enough to keep them on a short leash.

Interestingly, he is capable of performing certain tasks equally well with both hands, the dexterous use of melee weapons such as knives and swords being one example. Claims to be right-handed for most purposes due to writing with his right hand.

    >This part is completely unofficial. I thought you should know a few things about Private Blaze. First, the part you probably already know. Private Blaze is not officially qualified to be a knight, having never received the formal training. You've probably already noticed this but he hasn't been indoctrinated with the usual "hold the line" credo of most knights, which might explain why he's so aggressive and reckless. Second is the part you probably don't know about. The amount of training listed in the official dossier doesn't match up with the amount of time between Blaze's original activation and dissemination to Bravo. That amount of training would have taken at least six months to complete, even if undergoing compacted courses and undertaken one after the other without delay between training assignments. Private Blaze's training period was only one week long. Either these time stubs are wrong or he's just another of the Inquisition's pet projects.
Service History: Operation Amen, Titan Invasion.
    >I know they're all very proud of all the missions they've been on, but PLEASE tell them to stop listing individual mission deployments when I ask for service history. I can only officially count the campaigns and operations, even if they were only in for one mission. "That mission where we rescued Charlie and blew up some fuck huge guns" does NOT count, and, as callous as it might sound, the massacre at Prima Masquerade wasn't an official operation either. Also, tell them to stop sending me their kill scores along with service history. Those don't officially count either.

Lost was slow to wake. In part it was the drugs, which left her groggy, but mostly it was that she was a prisoner. Most of the day she could forget it as she talked with Richard, but now, in the early morning of the Tabernacle, it all came crashing back in. Richard said she was doing so much good for humanity right here, but she had only to look at the stark white walls of her cell to know she was a prisoner. Richard only sighed and shrugged when she asked when she could go free, maybe he didn’t know either. Maybe he was just as much a prisoner as she was. Lost lied in bed, idly moving her right hand around on the damp spot next to her head. The flex-steel had sucked up the water around where her right hand had lain while she rested, locking the moisture in the spongy matrix that made up her bed.

Eventually she slumped out of bed and pulled the sleeping gown over her head and tossed it on the floor. In the corner of her room she pushed down on a palm-sized glowing alcove set into the wall, which slid down a few inches as if on rollers. The floor dropped down a half a dozen inches, if pushed down by a giant’s rectangular foot, and just above Lost’s head a showerhead extruded itself from the wall. Immediately warm water to gurgle out of the perforated head, splashing onto Lost and beginning to foam. In the first few minutes of the shower a cleansing agent was added to the water, with the rest of her ten minute shower giver her clean water to sluice away suds. Picking up the towel from a parcel by the door, she dried herself off and wrapped the fabric around her head before putting on the clothing beneath it. It was still the same clothing as when she had got here, looking like something a hospital orderly would wear.

Lost pulled the tray away from the door cautiously. She had learned quickly that there was an inward facing numbing field projected from the doorway, which would cause her to collapse on the floor and wait until Richard turned it off and came in to help her. Resting the warm tray on her lap once she sat on the bed, she ripped off the bubble-like ovaloid that covered the tray, letting up a cloud of steam. They had started letting her use utensils, and she pried them from their alcoves before slipping out the jar of water beneath it and twisting off the cap. Like the jar, the fork, spoon, and even the tray would dissolve within the hour. When Richard came in for their lunch together, a servitor droid would come in to pick up the melted tray and clothing.

She held the water at eye level, a warped face of comely features framed by long blond hair returning her intent gaze. Raising her ring finger above the lip of the glass, she plunged it into the cool water. Richard had tried to explain flux to her, the underpinning of everything, the reason psionics could do what they could do. It had sounded more philosophy then science. The flux of a thing was the belief of the thing that is was what it thought it was. Lost took a deep breath and willed Geist’s ring to form around her finger. Richard said that she was altering the flux, the belief, of the water around her finger, telling it it had become ice. As the band solidified, a white ring with a deep blue core, Lost pulled her hand from the water, inspecting her work.

Over the previous weeks Richard had slowly helped Lost expand her powers, to the ultimate goal of improving her empathy. While she hadn’t been able to make progress there, her skills with her “cyrokinesis” had improved markedly. Taking the flux of the ring, she willed the ice not to be cold or melt, but still be ice. While a contradiction in physics, psionics could completely bypass it, going straight to the flux and doing the impossible. Lost twisting the ring on her finger, brows furled. It was becoming harder and harder to see Geist in her mind’s eye: he had started to become a picture set into a frame as opposed to a living, breathing person. She found herself, guiltily at times, looking forward to the kind and gentle meetings with Richard during lunch and evening. She squeezed the hand with the ring on it, hoping Geist was okay.

    > I totally forgot the trip I was using for Richard, so I'm using my own instead! Sorry!

Dr. Waverly was getting more and more concerned about his… “colleague”. The man had started to grow increasingly erratic and paranoid, but if it was from the Bravo Force psi-comm traffic or his “experiments” Richard couldn’t tell. He didn’t really want to know either. Regardless, Dr. Waverly worried more and more about his safety, and more importantly the safety of Lost. As Richard never stepped near his colleague’s workplace, he could only tell the man’s “progress” by the increasing number of bodies registered in cold storage. If they were dead or in cryo, he couldn’t tell, but knowing the agent, it wouldn’t make much difference to the clones he had worked on.

Richard gave a shudder of disgust, and as if summoned by that, the agent stepped through the door. The man’s face looked grim.

    “We’ve missed something.”
A quick jerk of the head. “What?”
“Our interceptions. They’ve won the war on Titan, but their gearing up for something, I know it.”

“IS THIS WHAT YOU FUCKING WANT?!”

The Guardian stood, a bemused smile on his face as the woman, Clytemn, continued to scream on the other side of the one-way window. From her side this would look like any other part of her cell, a completely blank white surface. That was good, it meant she was tracking his thoughts. She wasn’t delving, she couldn’t. The second he had taken over this body he had had it black noded and psi-screened, but she could still follow the music to the closed door of his mind. This test was becoming promising indeed.

The thing he thought of as Clytemnestra 12 wasn’t a person anymore. How many times would you build up and take down a person before they ceased to be one? How many people would think the thing in front of him as still a person? Swaths of blonde hair littered the ground around her, some still attached to bloody ribbons of scalp. Bloody streaks marred the observation window, with chips of fingernails covering the floor. More blood had flecked the floor, walls, and ceiling, forming a pattern around the figure that writhed and raved right in front of the window.

She didn’t look much like the one that used to refer to herself as Lost, he reflected. Muscle and fatty tissue shown where she had ripped bloody handfuls of her hair and scalp out, leaving a ragged, blood-slicked mohawk that let a few gore-coated strands dangle in front of her eyes. Those eyes, filled with a feral fury, lacked any sort of humanity, especially set in a face which had replaced a beautiful living soul with a mask of rage. She looked quite ugly now, with curled-back lips and blood coated teeth from biting her tongue, the features the body he’d become intimately familiar with pulled taunt by the strain of her anger.

She couldn’t help it, of course. The regulator chip in her head wouldn’t allow it. It had taken her from a normal baseline—calm wouldn’t have been the right word for it—and slowly ramped up simulation to the parts of her brain that caused anger. Already she had been at close to maximum for twenty minutes, her skull being pumped full of so much norepinephrine and epinephrine that she was literally poisoning her own brain. Of course he’s expanded the reserves of her adrenal medulla and cortex by over 300% for just this purpose. So far the results had been… informative.

She was, not surprisingly, insane. What was surprising was that she was still capable of speech and human actions. This amount would have reduced a normal person into either catatonia or animal-like behavior, but her mind had expanded, racing in front of the fires of rage that consumed her mind, holding onto some degree of self. This expansion of consciousness along with the improved telepathy was promising. As he keyed in more notes, warning lights flashed as the temperature of the examination window plummeted, frost partially obscured Clytemn from sight.

It was true that even flex-steel could become somewhat brittle in sub-zero temperatures, but even completely frozen, the strength needed to—a shudder filled the room. She had pulled a bloody fist from a crater over three handspans wide. He smiled.

“That looks like telekinesis to me.” The readout agreed.

He sighed as he flipped the cap off the switch and flicked it. The room in front of him literally filled with fire, a swirling torrent of flames that quickly reduced everything in the room to char. While the readouts were plenty, he always liked to have a hard copy on ice. However, with the amount of fight-or-flight chemicals he had pumped into her brain, nothing short of a spinal shunt would have stopped her, and with her powers maybe not even that.

The agent whistled to himself as he went through the data. He was getting closer.

At times sentence structures reversed but implied the same thing. The order of events too had reversed to him for a while, as he was capable of editing his actions that day throughout the stretch of its timeline, fixing one paradox after another until the ripples of causality lined up. The task of revisting each moment vexed his sense of time . And while he suffered this malady , his fingers marched across the console of the makarian drive and everything felt as if it was in perfect working order. It was ingenious he thought. Those who could operate the device already knew what they did.

He was tired. But also needed. As certain as she was about Bravo's survival as a potent and able millitary force. She had to consider what sensible minded person was capable of putting up with such a task.

Geist was young and headstrong- a big liability when it came to the subject of Lost. He was there but not ready.

Looking through the other data slates that she had Adoria acquisition, she needed someone that would get the job done, had earned basic respect of his/her comrades, but most of all- could keep their head above the mayhem when the subject of fighting an impossible force of aliens came to question.

Colonel - or rather, Brigadier General William "Walker" Adams now - had read the letter. Once, twice, three times, then a fourth time to add up the numbers.

New CO's would have to be selected, despite him accepting the offer. While a part of him wanted to reject it, there was nothing else for him; he was not ready to retire, to pass the torch just yet. Captain Geist was good, but still needed more experience, needed to be shaken a bit more and come out stronger for it.

But in the meantime, another CO would have to be selected, another Bravo soldier promoted to help command Bravo's expanding forces.

A thought entered his mind. Why one CO? Why not strike a balance of sorts? A team - a Sergeant and a Tactician, two distinct commands simultaneously to ensure a stronger front? Battles were getting bigger - so why not increase command?

Walker pulled the roster of Bravo personnel, and began to shift through the more experienced members, looking for those who had experience and command potential. Several names came up, and several letters were sent. A test would likely be needed.
