Technology among settlements is rarely, if ever, advanced. That which is will usually be a lost piece of Space Ghost technology, or a rare working piece of technology, scavenged from a shard of the two shattered spheres. What does exist among settlements is rudimentary industrial equipment, such as chainsaws, circular saws, jackhammers, and many others. Advanced settlements may take advantage of waste gasses expelled from the waste vents to harness the power of electricity for these tools, while most use the combustible gasses in crude engines. The most common, if, perhaps, the only type of ranged weaponry on the Spheres is the ubiquitous flamethrower. Often firing only combustible gas through a metal tube, they are fairly effective. Some improve upon the design, pressurizing gas or using special tubing design to cause flames to fly further. Some even add toxic chemicals to the mixture of gas for increased lethality. Moto-gangs take advantage of waste gas as propellant for their vehicles, whether rudimentary jets, rockets, or crude combustion engines are used.
Due to these limitations on tech, foot warfare is truly a horrifying sight. Combat saws belch noxious fumes, often creating a darkening of the sky before a battle, while flamers can often appear to be massive walls of flame before their enemies, their hellish exhaust either scorching or poisoning their enemy with the resulting smoke. The moto-gangs anticipate such conflicts and wait on the horizon, seeking to steal as much waste gas and other salvage from the battleground's aftermath, regardless of if it's weapons, waste gas, or even meat. |
