We sometimes have these world-building threads, where we basically design a whole new campaign setting. Those are fun and all, but let's try something different this time.

Instead of being a bunch of creative writers, let's be gods. Instead of designing a setting, let's bring a world into being. Smash some rock together, fill the oceans, paint the mountains, breathe life to all the living things... there'd be just a few of us at first, the first and the eldest gods, but more would probably show up if the thread gains interest, some even ascended from among the mortals later. And we'd all have our own domains and the like, and stuff. The whole thing.

So, with no further ado, I shall begin... "Let there be light."

    Pick it up from there.

Light poured out into the universe, and it was born of the stars. With the light came heat, and the warmth was known by the universe, but the warmth had no destination.

And so, let us forge worlds to house the warmth.

The earth and stone crash together, forming massive spheres and the warmth poured into them, baking them.

The stone cracks and the earth burns. The strength of the stars, the hot geysers and the magma is too great, the warmth is destroying the stone and earth. The harsh wind scatters the stone dust and the ashen earth. Let there be cold water and a chilling air.

The cold wind sweeps across the water and ice is formed. Great swaths of ice form where the stars' light doesn't fall.

Many of the first gods who engineered the plane saw it was good. They cast off their divinity, to dwell beside the creatures of the plane in body and spirit. Their essence would come to imbue select individuals with great skill and power, becoming the first heroes.

These gods became the first Player Characters, and in hushed whispers, they referred to the world they had helped form as "Ti'gee".

The dwarves delighted in their creations, but were dismayed by the ice wastes and burgeoning flora, and dug deep caverns into the ground, and sought after the magma. There they found precious stones and metals, and were held in wonderment of them.

And so too did the elves create a menagerie of life. They created birds and deer, and other such camp woodland life. But the creature they most found pride in was the cat, for it's grace and aloofness.

And so it became traditional for elven high priests and priestesses to dress as the cat, in homage to their patron creature.

But long had the stone beneath them been left to grow, and from depths of the world could be found species peculiar and unheard of.

So came the deep races- the Drow (who had shyed away from the light at the beginning of their mother-race), the Giants, and other such beings came to emerge from the soil- to peer curiously on the races of the surface; some with wonder, and some with a hunger.

The men, in their vigour, made a great many wonderful spires and cities wrought from the metals bought from the dwarves, and decorated them all about with the artistry of the elves, and dedicated themselves to the aquirement of knowledge and learning, and built many libraries in their glittering cities in the west. But men, being forged with the breath of the lizards, had within them a mote of the darkness of the deep waters, and longed to voyage across the oceans. They built great navies, and set off to find new lands, for the wanderlust was in them.

But there was disagreement between the twin-races of Kobolds and Cutebolds- for while the Kobolds thought it wise to retreat from the surface, the Cutebolds wished only to frolic in the sunlight, and enjoy the world above.

So most Kobolds retreated into stone, and most Cutebolds retained villages and camps on the surface. The Kobolds who retreated grew more paranoid and angry with the world which, in their eyes, cast them out- and came to despise the affairs of the other races.

So when the Dwarves encountered the Kobolds in their realm of stone, the Kobolds lashed out, leading to a lengthy distrust between the species.
