!qw2cdBTZAc 03/17/11(Thu)04:33 No.14272883"I do not know what to do, Father." You say after a while.
O'Malley is silent for a bit. "I don't know what to do either, Gabriel."
"Please, lead me back upstairs Father." You say, trying to head in the direction you remember the stairs being.
The Father leads you by the hand, and you walk haltingly, running your free hand along the pews for support. The steps take a long time, but eventually you hear the creak of a door, and feel the cold night air of the rooftop.
"Will you be alright, Gabriel?" The father says.
"I don't know." You mutter. "I can sit on my own, Father."
The Father clutches your hand tight for a while, slowly letting it go. "I'll be here if you need me, my son." He walk back inside.
You walk slowly, carefully, to the edge of the roof, for the first time in your life afraid of heights. You hear the other gargoyle on this roof move.
"Hey, what's the matter?" He asks, curiously.
You pause, not quite sure how to explain it. "I had my eye put out."
"Well, why'd you do a thing like that?" He asks, hopping onto the roof and coming over to you.
"I had no choice." You say, your hand clenching on the stone of the roof.
"You're being really strange lately." He says, wandering around near you. "You've been talking with that human too. Why aren't you hiding from him? You're losing the game!"
"This isn't a game!" You shout. "You don't even know- Argh!" You climb up onto the edge of the roof. |
