Today we had our game afternoon, and after a few games my players managed to defeat a coven of elven witches that wanted to drive away all the humans and dwarves from their ancestral forest home, as it had been absorbed into an expanding kingdom.

So, my player got separated and the blackguard player stumbled upon a chamber with many elven children hidden. They turn out to be the disciples and daughters of the witches and the reason they fought to dead to stop us and the human soldiers from entering their lair.

    Then things go like this

    >Me: You see the children. They are scared and they are no longer a harm. One even walks to you and asks who are you.

    >Player: I just don't reply. I close the door and set the place on fire.

    >Me & other players : whaaat? why?!

    >Player: Because I can. Also world will spread about this and elves will know better than become rebels. Also I hate children.

And the player had his PC smoke a cigarette as the elves burned to death inside.

God damn, I HATE when players think that being sadistic assholes is so cool and edgy.

I've had a blackguard character that has done similar things (with goblins) but I always made sure to explain that I was doing this because goblins always raid and always bring war and always are nipping at the outside of these lands. Killing the women and children, while extreme, keeps their population manageable, frightens them, and will help restore order. I took no pleasure in the slaughter, it was just something that needed to be done.

It's about setting your personal feelings aside, and playing your character.

I've played Space Marines, Orks, Kroot, heretics, techpriests, Guardsmen, Vampires, Werewolves, MI6 agents, SAS soldiers, Dutch Royal Marines, terrorists, Orcs, Ogres, a Guyver, an AdEVA pilot...

All that stuff within their respective roles.

Blackguards don't HAVE to be evil. They aren't antipaladins from Dragon Magazine, or paladins of Slaughter from Unearthed Arcana. They don't have a code of conduct. They are no more evil than, say, an assassin, and people have no trouble imagining not-so-evil assassins.

Still... they certainly CAN perform evil, for no reason if they like.

A while back I had a player who player a female blackguard. She used to be a runaway princess who asked a witch to help her be strong.

So what the witch does is throw her into a cave with a sword. When nightfall comes, a bestial demon comes from the depths of the cave and assaults her. She fails to defend herself and is raped all night long.

The same happen three nights until she manages to seriously wound the demon. Then the witch tell her that every three days she will have "more".

Next night is two demons, and she gets raped again. Then 4 demons the next three days, then 8 and so on. She spent months there, turning badder and killing scores of demons before being defeated and brutally gangraped. Until finally she manages to kill them all, and the witch gives the new blackguard her own heart, so she is ever young.

Bitch was the most evil monster I've seen anyone playing.

I know how to GM too. I don't try to railroad my players into some stupid shitty moral dilemmas where I already have some idea of what they "should" do. I'm very open and listens to every idea and try to understand my players before I pass any sort of judgement. Also, I read the fucking rulebooks.

I'm not a terribly good GM, but I'm infinitely better than shitfaggot OP. Indeed, most completely fresh and new GMs would be infinitely better.

Less derpy ways of playing evil characters:

LE: Supports law and order, acts brutally but legitimate works for a better future, by being ruthless and cruel. Example: Lawman who tortures prisoners to find their lair.

NE: Views party as family/friends, will do horrible things to help them and themselves.
Ex: Breaking out a prisoner the party hates in order to kill him, because the rest of the party had imprisoned who would have escaped. Possibly leaves the prisoner's head on a party member's bedroll as a demented gift.

CE: Cares not for law or morality, but might care for the party/not have anything better to do. Will kill if given an incentive, but normally gives no fuck.
EX: Barbarian who's family was slaughtered by gnolls, will happily murder any of them he encounters, regardless of age, gender, or alignment. But won't randomly kill people unless they give him offense (spitting on him ect.) or attack whatever people he cares about. Or if he's really out of it (drunk).

Evil does not mean being absolutely evil, just as good does not force you to donate every bit of excess wealth to charities. Absolute extremities suck often.

She had seen nine and a half years before she was freed. Born into slavery, surrounded by chains she had not even realized were there.
It all changed though. When HE came. The one who freed her.

They huddled in a corner, like rats, hiding from those that had slain their parents. Clinging to their shackles.
But he found them. He stood, silent, staring. She had a vain hope that the darkness concealed them, that his armor muffled their whimpering.. She was wrong.

He moved so FAST. She remembed that still: the speed with which he struck. Five children cut down before she fully realized he had started his assault. Then the screams came. She clutched her hands to her head as tight as possible, but still she could hear them. They seemed to come from all around her. He told her later she had been their source. She hadn't even realized.

"Silence." It was all he said, all he had to say. Their terror commanded obedience, and her voice fled. She opened her eyes, saw his work.

Seven dead. Less than half their number remained, shee looked across their faces, and felt relief when she saw her sister among the survivors.

On the one hand, yes, a purely CE character might do that.

    On the other hand, no character that isnt a demon should be purely CE;

Partially because they should still have emotions,

Partially because if they are functional enough to be capable of speaking or not slaughtering the party they would have some idea of the consequences of randomly killing people (and by the time they are strong enough not to care, people should be too frightened to bother them. And they'd have better things to do than killing worthless peasant #345)

Partially because 'lol maimburn only' is a boring type of character, just like 'lol sex everything' is.

And finally because that kind of character tends to be played by assholes who just want to troll the rest of the party cheaply/play out their sadistic fantasies with real people involved.

Agreed. Personally, I feel that if you're going to have an evil character in the party, you should talk to the player about exactly what their reasons are for wanting to play an evil character and how they plan to manage the character and whatnot. If they're just in it for trolling or to be sadists or "because evil is cool and good is dumb" or whatever, say no. Say no, and think hard about whether they should be in the game at all, or whether you should probably tell them to come back when they've done a bit of growing up.

She watched him remove a pouch from his pack, and stole a glance at her sister, two years younger than she, and nodded, trying to reassure her. Things might be alright.

"You, elf girl." He spoke to Mhirrin, the oldest of the remaining, nearly thirteen. "Do you want to live today, and leave this place?" Mhirrin, nodded, dumbly.

"Speak. Do you want to survive?"

Mhirrin mouthed words, struggled to find her voice. Finally, she croaked out a whisper, "Yes."

He nodded, and opened the pouch, upending it. Knives fell out, and skittered across the cold stone floor. "Pick one up."

Slowly, never taking her eyes off of him, Mhirrin bent to pick up a dagger that had come to rest near her feet. She could see the older girl relax. The blade made her feel safer, if only just. Mhirrin looked to him, waiting for instructions.

"Kill the others, and you can leave." She saw the horror spread across Mhirrin's face. The words came easier to her now, the blade had made her feel bolder.

"You're the biggest. The strongest. If you want life, you have to take it. Take it from them, the mewling wretches, huddling in the dark." He spoke sharply, while Mhirrin looked around at those she had grown up with.

"I...I can't. Please, they're my frie-" He moved. Mhirrin stopped suddenly, she didn't realize why at first. Then she saw it, the dark sheen, creeping down from under her chin. He had slashed her throat with his sword. Mhirrin stood for a moment, tried to hold her neck, to stem the bloody tide. She watched Mhirrin fall, remembering how long the fall had taken, how slow death had been to come.

"She did not want to live. Maybe one of you do..." She stared at Mhirrin, watched the blood pool slowly where her body fell. He kicked the remaining knives around the room, one to each of them. The one aimed at her came edge first, and bit into her leg. It broke her reverie. She focused on him once more

"I offer the same chance to live to the rest of you. Pick up the knives. you must take your freedom from those around you." The dagger felt cold in her hand, it felt far heavier than it should have, given its small size.

She looked at those she had known her whole life. She looked at her sister, who stared back, looking for comfort from the fear the felt. She knew to try and offer it. She knew big sisters had to do those things.

But she also knew she wanted to live.

"Pathetic. But maybe...maybe you don't know HOW to kill. You are rather young, I suppose." He drew his blade, leveled it at Danna, and struck swift.

"AAHH!" Danna screamed. The blade had come to rest, and it stopped in her stomach. He jerked it from her cruelly, and the girl fell to her knees.

"That is how it's done. " Danna clasped her hands to the wound, but the blood still spread, staining her simple clothing a deep crimson.

"She will be easy. That wound of hers will keep her slow, and docile. Cut her throat if you want to live. If you want her to die with less pain." He pointed his sword at the last of the girls, she knew her at Prym, a human girl that had come to the villiage only a few years ago.

"Me? Why me, please, I can't even kill the chickens, I have my brother do it, maybe he can-" She stopped, remembering her brother. He was one that lay on the floor slain. His body crumpled at her feet.

"Do it. Or share the same fate as the rest of them." Prym could not hold back her tears, they flowed freely, falling to the blood around her that had been her brother's only minutes earlier. Slowly, she took a step towards Danna, who only half watched, trying to stop her blood from spilling any more than it had.

Danna looked at Prym, then at her and her sister, then at him. She reached for the knife he had kicked in her direction, but it was at least two arm lengths away. The girl reached for it, tried to stand and take it up, but winced and cried out from the pain of her wound.Prym continued forward, less than five steps away now. She paused.

    "Do it."

Prym let out a final sob, Danna stared up the girl.

"Please, we can all-" Danna was cut short. Prym screamed, and slashed wildly at the wounded child kneeling at her feet. Two strikes were low, but they drew blood, welling from Danna's chest. Another, higher this time. But Danna had bent down lower, reflexively shielding herself from the pain of the onslaught, it struck empty air.

Danna fell to her side, howling from the pain of the new wounds, she curled up as tight as she could. Prym paused, unsure how to proceed. Danna focused for a moment, and with the last of her strength, kicked out with all she could muster.

It wan't much, but it caught Prym by surprise and she fell, her head hitting hard on the stone beneath them. For a moment Danna thought she had won, but soon enough Prym stirred, then stood once more, the knife still held tight in her hand. She watched the girl circle around behind Danna, apparently wary of another kick.

Prym knelt behind Danna. The wounded girl struggled, but was growing weak. Prym yanked back on her hair, the girl cried out, and with a flash, the knife found its aim. It bit deep into her throat. Danna struggled, sluggishly, but her arms were so heavy, she could barely lift them, and soon she lay still, and moved no more.

Prym stared down, barely blinking, breathing heavily.

His voice cut the silence. "Well done." So you do want to live, after all." He nodded at her and her sister.

"But you still have a few obstacles..."

She heard him, but his voice was like tin, and far away. Waves of cold crept across her skin. She stared into Danna's eyes, and they stared back, unblinking. She seemed fine. Like she was playing one of her staring games she loved to play so many times before-

"What are you doing Prym? Stop it, please, you don't have to do this." A voice called out to her, cutting through the fog that had settled around her thoughts. She looked around.

Prym was ten paces away, right in front of her little sister. She saw the flash of the knife, as it glinted with torchlight from the hallway.

"Just like I showed you. Good girl." The cold was ever-present in his voice, but now she heard his satisfaction mixing in with it.

The older girl knocked her sister over, she fell and hit her head hard on a crate she had earlier sat in. Prym straddled her sister while she struggled to regain her bearings, and dispel the fog and dizzyness the impact had brought.

She looked at Prym, then to her sister's eyes begging for help, but her own body unable to move. She could only stare; stare at her sister, stare at Danna, who still lay still and unblinking, stare at Prym, the girl who couldn't even watch someone kill chickens, now holding a knife that was wet with Danna's blood, stare as it arced up, above Prym's head, stare as it paused and started its descent.

She remembered something her father had told her when her sister had first started school, years ago. There was a fight, a boy had been mean to her sister, and pushed her down a hill. She ignored it. Her father scolded her later, and she had to promise him.

She charged at Prym, her knife still felt heavy in her arm, but she was slashing it wildly. The other thoughts were gone from her mind. All she could remember was the promise he made her swear. "You have to protect her when I'm not around. Big sisters have to do these things."

She pounced at Prym, knocking the girl off her sister. Knife slashing wildly, biting into the girl's arms, her face. Prym screamed out in pain, she ignored her protestations and cut, again and again. Prym fell still, but she continued, until her arms no longer obeyed her, exhausted from their efforts, the knife fell from her hands and clattered on stone, her fingers too tired to clasp it.

    1. a person who tells a story or gives an account of something
    2. (Performing Arts) a person who speaks in accompaniment of a film, television programme, etc.

Since this is in the perspective of the Older Sister, one of three left alive next to Prym, the killer, and Danna, the younger sister, that would make the Older Sister the narrator of this tale. In most cases the narrator is the protagonist in their own story.

Went away for a bit after typing it before posting it, so disregard the part about there being 'three' still alive . . .

Also SWEET DAMN. Now that we have her killing someone else SPECIFICALLY because the older sister always protects the younger, that means it's going to have to be something big that forces her into killing the little sister.

Writefag here, sorry for the confusion. Not naming the girl has caused some confusion.

The narrator is focused primarily on the unnamed older sister, but it isn't actually the older sister narrating, otherwise it would be "I remember..." Thus, "her sister," "she remembered," etc...

reminds me of a Blackgaurd i played once story goes as thisL

Was playing with a few RL friends ( fighter, cleric, rogue and druid and me being the blackgaurd) We've been tasked to protect a princess sent as a royal envoy to a neighboring kingdom. who's been on a plundering and raping spree along the border.

The current king of Kingdom 1 (the princess's father) was to put it nicely, a fucking pussy, he wouldn't decalre war even though thousands died every year from his unwillingness, even though he has a superior army. So he hopes to send his daughter to be married off to the other king so that hostilities to end. but he loved his daughter more then anything

Upon reaching the castle of the second King, we see him preparing for war with the first King. shortly afterwards we are taking hostage and the princess is force to write a letter that the mission was a success back to her father that we were supposed to return back to the king when we were released at the end of the year.

While we were being held prisoner by the king. me and him got to be brosephs i could wander around his castle but i could not leave.

anyways, it ended up with me killing the gaurd getting his keys rescuing my party have them wait for me to finish my plan. So i go up to the princess's room, and proceed to rape and kill her. while i was doing this the fighter comes in and catches me as i kill her. immediately he attacks me (lawlful good to the extreeeeeem) but being just an paladin intiate (he was rping pretty well for the job) i backhand him and knock him out,i wrap up the princess's body and drag both the bodies out to my waiting group. but due to my actions started off a war between the two kingdoms, that in the end save thousands more lives

"Now this IS unexpected...I thought you would be content to sit and watch everyone die." A smile spread across his face. She still remembered how pleased he had been with her. "But why now? Was that little one important?"

Was. The word stuck in her mind. She looked, her sister lay unmoving. She scrambled over to her, saw the wound in her chest.

This wasn't right. She saved her. She knew she had. She tried to wake her up, she had to be alright. She stirred, but weakly. Looked up , and winced. Tried to speak.

"Please, you're going to be alright. Don't try to talk. We'll get you to mother, she knows how to treat cuts and scrapes, remember?" Her sister nodded.

She looked up at him, he stared back. "Please, can I-"

"I've seen that would before. You're not healing it. She'll die slow, choking to death as her lung slowly fills with blood. You can spare her that. If you wave to will to do so." He drew a small blade from her belt, the metal black and pitted, but the edged danced with torchlight, and spoke of its fine honing.

She looked at the ruined body of Prym, what her fervor had done to the girl's body. "I...I can't do that again." He held up his gloved hand to silence her.

"Not like that. That was messy. Like this." He reached behind her head, pressing his fingers into her neck, finding the gaps in her spine. "Right here. Between the bones. It's quick and painless. You can help her go easy....or we can sit here until she chokes on her blood. ..

"Your choice, I have the time." He chuckled, as he held out the blade's handle.

You need to rest if you're going to get better in time for the festival next month." Her sister caughed again, leaned up and gasped , trying to pull in air, and coughed again, drops of blood falling down her chin.

"See what I mean? Gasping for air." He held out the knife again. She looked down at her sister, then back to the knife. She shook her head.

"Please, I can't do that, I can't-" Her sister's hand lifted up, and came to rest on the blade. She looked down, saw her sister nodding, pushing the knife towards her.

"Even she agrees. This is for the best. Protect her from the pain and fear of that slow death." Protect her. The words wormed their way into her mind, she couldn't push them aside. She put her hand atop her sister's, took the blade from her.

"Good. Right there" He tilted her sister's head to the side, leaned it towards her shoulder. "See the ridges? Those are bones. Push it between them."

She lined the blade up, right at the edge. Where it tapped skin, she saw a drop of crimson begin to well up. She had been right, the blade was exceedingly sharp. She looked into her sister's eyes, saw her trust, saw her nod. She started coughing again, but did her best to push it aside.

"I'm sorry." She clenched her eyes shut, and shoved the blade home. It met almost no resistance, its edge guided it to its proper place. She let go, and wept.

"Good girl." He said. She hadn't noticed he was beside her. "Come. The others no doubt wonder where I've gone." She looked again at her sister, she looked so peaceful, resting there. The black knife standing as stark rememder to her true condition. She lifted it, noticed how light it felt in her hands. She offered it back to him. He held his hand up.

"Keep it. You're coming with me, you'll need to defend yourself from things now and then. Judging by that...mess...over there" he gestured to the broken remains of Prym, "you need training." He unfastened the blade's sheath, and held it out to her.

"Let's go." The cold in his voice was back, and she stood up, running after him, and down the hallways that had once felt so familiar to how, now all they felt was alien.

"There you are! What could have taken so long?" Another man, slender, noticed her, "Ambling through hallways scaring children for thrills again?" as he laughed.

"I'll hear no musings on my hobbies from a BARD." He said, placing his hand on the hilt of the blade she had seen weave so much death. The bard noticed this as well, she saw, and fell silent for a moment.

    "So who's the elf runt?"

"A child of the witches. They slew the rest. I found this one in a cupboard, covered in blood. She is coming with us."

"Oh really? Now you care for the welfare of orphans? I'm touched." the bard stared down at her, she clung closer to the black-armored man, hiding behind his cloak.

The bard knelt down. "You have a name?" She knew a name, but it was wrong. That was the name of a girl with a mother, a father, a little sister. She shook her head.

"No eh? Well, we'll just have to make one up for now. Elf eh? You people like long names. I knew an elf named Arthchiril once. How's that? She was this innkeeper's daughter, you see, she-"

The man, the Blackguard, as she later came to know him, grunted in disgust, and shoved him aside "Enough of your incessant prattling. We're leaving."

"So we're jsut going to call her elf girl? She needs a name."

"She has a name. It's Lily. Move it, girl." and he walked outside, away. Lily rushed past the Bard, clutching her knife close to her chest, and followed after him.

That's not . . . the actual author, is it? Please tell me that isn't actually part of the story I've been sticking around for. Please tell me that the conclusion I've been waiting for sounds like it could have come from Napoleon Dynamite more from a sadistic, mind-twisting Blackguard.

Call it parallel universe or something

Her senses were awoken by a sharp smell. A smell so distant now, so alien she barely remembered what it used to represent. Acceptance, family, warmth. Nearly delirious from the horrors she witnessed she imagined herself sitting with her family by the fireplace, holding her little sister... Her dreaming was cut short as snapped back into the bleak reality. She smelled smoke. Looking up, the black-clad figure of her tormentor was gone, but in his wake there was fire, fire that looked almost demonic in its nature, flickering in crimson. As her lungs filled with smoke she made her way to the door, trying to catch a glimpse of the woods for the last time. And as her vision faded, the last image was that of a black silhouette calmly watching the fire...

I'm not reading all this crap but.

You're playing with a blackguard.... ignoring for the moment that the player might think its cool, the CHARACTER might think its cool, I can easily imagine a tragic character with depth who struggles with his self image. Imagine a dorky blackguard who lights his cigarette trying to emulate what he thinks he should do.

It pisses me off when the allegedly good roleplayers ignore what COULD be good RP, instead preferring to poop all over someone. Grow the fuck up, evil campaigns are boring.

The man threw Lily's naked body out of the tent like a wet rag. The ground of the secluded forest was muddy from the rain earlier in the day. Lily didn't even bother trying to get up. Her little body was covered in bruises and part of her scalp was exposed from where the man had pulled out her hair.

But even in this sad state, she turned her head in the muck and glared towards the tent with all of her hatred.

The man chuckled as he stepped outside, "Ooh, scary!"

He knelt down besides her and pulled out his knife.

He grabbed her fragile chin and looked into her eyes, "That spirit of yours is good. But if you're not going to accept your position, then you're not going to eat. Go catch your own food."

He tossed the knife casually besides her and strolled casually back into the tent.

It's the introduction of the rest of the group. I'm not against them being introduced, or interacted with, but the way in which it was handled was just . . . Well, it sounded like original writefag got up for a cup of coffee, and somebody with trollin' thoughts on their mind sat down and finished it.

It sounds like an entirely different narrative voice. We go from a grim, brutal depiction of a sadistic, very evil man to him becoming the half of a comedy duo with the Bard.

OP have someone else DM or GM so you can show them how to play evil the right way.

For example my players used to be focused so hard on the objective that they would loot anything, often killing random allied NPC's so they could loot there weapons before the the plot ignored them and they disappeared.
So I let them GM a few and it turned them around, they still prefer evil but this time there's method to there madness:

    >Party is on a crashing spaceship, they play as some Tyranid style invaders that have to gain control of the ship before the idiot crew crashes with them on board.
    > P1 is a swords and claws samurai style warrior and P2 Is a huge big bulletsponge that slightly resembles Cthulu, they also have the captured and zombified captain on there side after a successful ambush.
    >The plan is to have the captain walk in and order the crew to raise the shields, fire countermeasures, ect to ward off the attacking forces, but as he walks in and starts commanding it turns out the entire crew is inept.
    >zombie:"You there! Underling! Why haven't you raised the shields yet?!"
    >crew:"I can't! I don't know how!"
    >zombie:"If you don't raise the shields right now a giant monster is going to walk in here and eat your brain"
    >crew: " ... " *fails tech use test*
*Suddenly the cockpit door opens, two giant lumbering creatures walk in, one grabs the unfortunate crew member by the neck and drags him kicking and screaming back through the door whilst the other casually chimes in a code the the console, The ships shields raise and the bridge falls silent is disbelief, the only noise is from the panicking doomed crew member and his cries are cut off when the cockpit door slams shut again with the monsters gone again.*
    >crew as one: "HOLY SHIT!"
    >zombie: "now I want *YOU* to take evasive manoeuvres, and you know what's going to happen if you make a poor job of it"

Lily wobbled through the forest, holding her side with one hand and her knife with the other. It had only been one day since her adoption by this madman, and this was the first time she had left his side. After receiving some payment from his fellow adventurers, he had led the girl on a forced march deep into a nearby forest.

The man had refused to even tell her his name. She was told to address him as "master". He was short for a man, and never seemed to remove his armor. His face always looked calm and relaxed, and even as he had tormented her through the night, he would only look her in the eyes and smirk in mild amusement.

Now Lily (the name he had chosen for her) was naked and alone. It was only autumn, but her body was wet and muddy. She felt like her blood was freezing inside her.

As she continued through the forest, her feet being torn apart by underbrush, she heard a noise. Lily turned and saw a man nearby, drinking from a stream.

    "Hey! Please! Help me!"

Here's a justification for this sort of behaviour: the character is an evil, selfish man. He fully believes that in this world of death and carnage only the strong survive - through their skill and their cunning. Any who can't defend themselves are chattle. This man is not chattle. He never will be. Never! When he dies it will be by his strength alone...and for that reason, he sometimes takes in a child. A child he tests, a child capable of killing. Then he needs a child capable of surviving, capable of hating. And one day...maybe that child - the child he trained, the child who survived by his hand - will kill him. By his own strength he will die and by no one else's. This man is not chattle and never will be. Not even on his deathbed.

Lily ran with all her strength. The man looked up from the river with an expression of utter confusion. He had a bow and quiver attached to his back, and short black hair.

Lily's eyes opened wide as she saw a familiar figure step out from the forest towards the man. Her "master" had already pierced the stranger through the neck and chest with a single downward thrust. As he withdrew the sword, the man's body lost all power and collapsed into the river.

Lily's master did a little shrug, "See? This is the sort of thing that happens when you disobey me."

The master knelt down and starting looting the stranger's corpse. A few paces away, Lily fell to her knees, tears welling up in her little eyes.

Her master found a pouch of coins and pocketed them, "Don't ever forget Lily, you're only here because of my mercy. And if you're willing to cooperate, I can make you great."

The girl clenched her teeth and felt the handle of the knife dig into her soft palm, "My. Name. Is. NOT. LILY!"

She let loose a screech through gritted teeth and charged towards the man. Her master just gave an uninterested sigh without even looking at her. He wheeled his body around and planted a gauntlet to her jaw with a wet crack.

Lily's vision went black for a moment, but her master grabbed her by the neck as she fell. He lifted her frail body into the air and moved his face so close to hers that she could feel his breath.

"Here's your first lesson: don't start a fight unless you have the upper hand."

The master let her go, and she slid into the soft silt of the riverbank.

Lily looked up at the man like he was garbage, "Kill me. I don't want to live like this."

The master rolled his eyes and started pushing the corpse into the water, "You know what your problem is? You're living is the past, Lily. Sure, we could stand here all day throwing a little pity-party for you, but what would that accomplish, huh? You need to focus on your current situation. You're the one who wanted to live."

The corpse floated off down the river. Lily wondered if that stranger had a family and friends waiting for him; people who would miss him now that he was gone forever.

Without looking away from the bobbing corpse, Lily asked, "How can you be so evil?"

Her master turned to leave, "You've only got one life. Why should you spend it restraining yourself?"

He continued walking away, leaving Lily in the mud. But almost as an after-thought, he turned he head and added:

"Catch some food and come back to camp by nightfall. I'll give you some clothes if you don't fuck up."

    >I'm still writing, but I'll start a new tread eventually, that way more people will know what's going on

Lily swung the axe down onto the nearby log with a hollow snap. The master had asked her to chop firewood for the new campsite. For the past weeks they had moved around the forest with no discernible destination.

At first she prayed to Labelas to save her. But after a while she only prayed for death. Her Master would mock her for this, and would shout for the elven gods himself. When they didn't save her, he used it as proof that she was forsaken and this was her punishment for killing her sister.

She had resisted her Master for as long as she could. Even though she knew that following his orders would make him less brutal, she felt like a failure whenever she submitted. Her parents had raised her to be proud and independent and chaste. Giving in to this beast made her feel unworthy of life.

Something had been worrying her recently. It had only been a few weeks since The Master adopted her, but for some reason she couldn't remember what her family used to looked like...
