Tessa shook her head as you stood preparing to depart. "No... Esme I meant, what's going to happen to you?" She caught your eyes. "Consider all options before doing anything... alright?"

Rodwen sniffed in disapproval, starting out in the direction of the rest of the city, eyes and hands glowing as she used her power to weave some sort of concealment power. Caramel hesitated before starting after her, jogging quickly to take the lead, the creature clinging to her leg. You and Tessa followed after them, trying to ignore the cold, the swarm chittering overhead.

You made it to the edge of the larger part of the city when a loud shriek shatters the frigid air. A massive beast rocketed overhead, its glowing body undulating as it flew. It shrieked again, its enormous jaw opening, wide enough to swallow a predator tank. It banks quickly, swooping low, forcing you and the others to the ground to avoid being consumed.

The farseer lets her spell dissolve, stumbling a bit. Maintaining such a powerful ability had taken a lot out of her.

Caramel instantly took to the sky, flying after the creature, weapons at the ready.

"Caramel, don't fight the thing on its terms." Esme signals everybody to move into the nearest uncorrupted building. Fighting the daemon in the open is suicide. "Hurry!" She takes the Farseers hand and starts running, just in case the Eldar doesn't understand the battle cant of the sisterhood.

"Caramel, we need you down here!"
I grab the farseer around her waist, supporting her, and began trotting towards the city center.
"Everybody, move towards the taller buildings! If we seek shelter there, it would have to crash itself to get to us!"
I smile grimly. "Then we can fight it on our own terms."

We might have to use our holy powers if this gets out of hand.

Also, some cover fire from Caramel would be nice.
Just enough to keep the thing off us until we reach a better defensive position, don't want her exposing herself too much.

wait... guys... Can't Esme fly? And couldn't we spend just a little more power to keep the cold off of everyone? I mean seriously. Why are we just sorta... limiting ourselves. Lets try something.

The powers are grand and all, but we are trying to lay low for the moment.
Any use of our powers gives the sleeping god our location, what our abilities are, and pushes it further to waking.
As such, we are waiting until we are well and truly up a creek to use them.
We don't even know where the thing is yet, so patience until we actually know what we are doing.

Alright, if we can, follow after Caramel, the last thing we need is her heroically sacrificing herself.
    "Tessa, Rowden- keep in cover!"
"God emperor save us all," I murmur, watching the deamons shadow pass over our position.

Alright, here's the plan, I think
We follow after Caramel, using our wytch powers.
We use this behemoths of the skies size against itself- dart in and out, harassing it, and letting chase us willy nilly. While either Esme or Caramel is distracting the beast, the other will alight on its black and let the sky beast have it- hopefully we'll be able to pierce some of it's sensory organs, or damage it's thinking bits , making it loose stability in the air and crash

The creature is surprisingly fast and agile for being so large. You duck and feint as you rocket through the air, its tail nearly hitting you several times.

Caramel manages to get above the beast, firing her sonic pistol approximately where the creature's ears are. It lets out a horrible scream, its entire body bucking up. It looses almost 30 feet of altitude, one of its wings clipping you, sending you tumbling through a window.

From a different building you see a hail of warp lightning, the powerful psykic blast enveloping the creature, causing it to fall further. None of it seemed to truly damage the creature, however. It was going to take blades to take this thing down. You could only hope your blades were long enough to pierce its armor enough to do significant damage.

(These encounters are your warm up. You dont need to post prayers yet... Though when you do, make sure they are good. Stuff from the uplifting primer is awesome but stuff that you write yourself will earn the most kudos.)

You launch yourself back into the sky and switch tactics quickly. Targeting the daemon's wings, you weave up and down several times, leaving huge tears in the fragile membranes. Caramel seemed to get the same idea, her sollex blade doing far more raw damage than your force blade on each impact.

The creature screams in agony, though it doesn't lose altitude. It figures that such a large beast would have some unconventional means of remaining airborne, though the loss of its wings also resulted in the loss of its ability to maneuver and change direction mid-flight. It struggled to maintain course, skimming several buildings, damaging them

Bringing yourself back to reality, you charged up a mighty psykic bolt, white holy fire consuming your body as you hurled the sizzling projectile down at the flying behemoth. The energy burst on impact, causing the creature's flesh and scales to brown and curl, its massive form driving into the ground, tearing up asphalt as it skid.

It lay there for only a moment, slowly beginning to rise once again when Tessa dashed from hiding, her Evicerator held high as she cleaved down into its skull, turning its brain into a fine red mist and gore.

The monster siezed once before it fell dead.

Still exhilarated by her victory, Esme reminds herself to check on Caramel. Worried that she hurt the sister by using her powers, she hurries to her position.
"Are you ok? I was worried that my aura might have hurt you."
After making sure that the young sister isn't hurt, the Exalted Martyr moves towards the farseer. "Do you need to rest a few moments? I can understand if using your powers for such a long time tires you. Any idea how that thing was able to find us?"

    Tessa gets a hug.
Esme should also see if the fluffball is still ok. She could offer him a piece of the daemon.
Otherwise, I'd suggest inspecting the creature.

(dammit 4chan wouldn't post this for hours)

Caramel waved you off. She was fine. "As long as you don't try to bless me or purify me or something along those lines I should be fine"

The fluffball was no longer clinging to her leg but was feasting ravenously on the still living daemon along with the scavenger daemons. Occasionally one would get too close and it would snatch it out of the air, its mouth far larger than you expected with multiple rows of spinning chainsaw-like shark teeth.

You give it a wide berth as you approach the Farseer, Tessa intercepting you half way with an enormous hug.

"You two are making me ill!" The farseer carefully smoothed out the wrinkles in her cloak. "My ability only creates a gap in creatures' perception. We're not actually invisible and there are a lot of things that are immune. But it is better than nothing."

You nod, moving to inspect the creature before there was none left. There didn't seem to be anything special about it. The mark of the chaos god was set deeply into its scales in several places.

"Do you think we should continue taxing you if the power's scope is limited? I'd hate to put undue stress on you for a possibly small effect."

Before moving onwards, Esme approches Caramel. "Have you seen the things teeth?"

"Was keeping up the cloaking too much strain on you? It was fairly useful, as it got us to this point unmolested." I ask Rodwen as Tessa continues to snuggle into my shoulder.
"If it is not too much effort, could you maintain it for a while further?"
I also throw in a light barb, "No need to be jealous, farseer. If you want a hug, just ask."
As the creature is reduced to bones, we press on towards the city center, where the highest buildings are.
"Keep an eye out for anything out of place, by the way. If we can find a weakness in the realm, we could get some heavier clothing or ranged weapons."

The fluffball seems to be eating a great deal. Maybe it will grow into a pet monster for us if we continue to feed it well.

Tessa squeezes your arm, puffing out her cheeks. "She just doesn't know what she's missing."

You managed to put some distance between yourself and the feasting horde when you hear Caramel cry out in surprise. The fluffball had managed to catch up with your party and was once again clinging to Caramel's leg. It was bigger now, the fur around its mouth stained a faint red from its meal. She looks at you helplessly before continuing on, the daemon having no intention of letting go.

You're so distracted you almost miss the two snake daemons curled up on the asphalt. Pulling your party behind a large, abandoned ground vehicle, you poke your head out to assess the situation. The Daemons were much MUCH larger than the one you fought before and were only glowing faintly. Near them was a large irregular patch of melted snow, the air above it shimmering. A tear in the God's realm. Just beyond the tear squatted a massive hive daemon. Now that you were closer you could see that the tiny creatures that resided in its body were not insect like at all, but instead were very flat and somewhat oval in shape. They darted through the air on several pairs of gossamer wings attached to either side, clicking their jaws and showing off their massive teeth. They had a single eye on each side, huge, round, and unblinking.

Contemplating the situation, Esme decides to consult her companions.
"Hmm, any opinion if we should either fight or avoid them?"
If they advise to fight, Esme begins planning as how to ambush the creatures best.
"I think we might have a good chance if Caramel distracts them with her ability to fly and Rodwen uses her powers to fry the hive daemon and its minions from afar. Meanwhile, I'll try to approach the snakes undetected and take at least one of them out before they are able to notice me."

    >Just saying OP; if you're planning to pull a Shyamalan on us, our act of freeing the fluffball actually releasing the weak infantile god and now strengthening his feral form by feeding it daemons and thereby nurturing it towards sentience... I called it.

You outline the plan, Tessa immediately darting out of hiding, firing up the flamer. The snakes raise their heads, clearly surprised by the sudden intrusion. Both you and Caramel leap into the air, flanking each snake as purging flames gush from Tessa's weapon, engulfing the hive daemon, making it scream in agony.

The snakes shy away from the gout of flame, instead targeting both you and Caramel. Once again, your force blade proves minimally effective against the snake's absurdly hard scales. What were these creatures made of? The Sollex blade seemed to fare better, causing major damage to the armored scales.

You feint one way, the snake lashing out, following your movements. Its mouth was about to close around you when you felt a surge of power as the Farseer focused her power on you, letting you slip away with ease.

It may be tough on the outside, but let's see how strong it's guts are.

(yes thats Elizabeth and its filigree doing the "Hmph!")

Your claw cracks the scales of the enormous beast, weakening them enough for you to thrust your force blade through. Your power makes the blade hum. the snake screaming as the wrath of the emperor fills its form, vaporizing it from the inside out.

Tessa turned her attention to the other snake, the massive size and blessed nature of her evicerator leaving huge jagged valleys in the snake's scales. She was glowing a bit as the Farseer increased her speed, allowing her to just barely dodge the creature's bite only to be hit by its tail. Caramel struck again at the snake, the sollex blade sputtering a bit, the blade wavering as the field that kept the energy in place sputtered and burned her arm. She ignored it, slashing at the creature's face, blinding it in one eye.

I look over at the hive deamon. How badly is it wounded? Is it likely to rejoin the fray?
I grit my teeth and concentrate on the job in front of me, dodging the striking snakes mouth, using a moment of pause to Tessa to aim for the small eyes with her blade. As soon as it opens it's mouth again, I blast it's thin reedlike tongue with my powers, hoping to deny it all of it's senses.
Against Caramel, Tessa, and myself, this thing cannot stand much longer.

I launched myself at the snake, my fury building.
The thing had made a dreadful mistake when it had struck Tessa.
The foul beast did not see me coming, its missing eye leaving a gap in its senses.
I leap into the air and drive my claw into the side of its head, stabilizing myself for long enough to thrust my force blade through the opened socket.
With a sickening crunch, I feel the skull crack and my blade finds purchase in the brain.
It takes only a small pulse of my power to burn out the brain.
As the beast drops to the ground, I turn to see if there are any more foes to vent my fury on.

After annihilating the last foe, Emse hurries to make sure Tessa is not severely hurt. "You've always been to brash..." Smile at her "Not that I'd want it any other way." If necessary, Esme heals her injuries.

Afterwards, she moves towards Caramel. Despite the possessed sister's protests, Esme checks the burns on her arm. "Do you think I could mend your wound without hurting you?"

Before inspecting the door the daemons might have guarded, Esme bows slightly to farseer and thanks her for her continuing support.

The hive daemon was down and charbroiled. Just the way Tessa liked it.

Your charge on the snake was quick and unexpected, venting your holy wrath upon the creature, you skewer it, cooking its insides with a blast of concentrated energy. It screams as it falls, thick chunks of brain matter oozing out of the hole you widened in its skull.

Tessa's injuries were minimal, though her pride had seen better days. She grinned sheepishly at you, but you could see that she was starting to tire a bit. Probably from a combination of the fight and the chaos god's wearing presence. Though she still had quite a bit of fight in her.

Caramel was fine, the burns on her hand and arm minimal. Sollex blades were known to hiccup once in awhile and, much like plasma weapons, were capable of injuring the user. Caramel also was starting to look a bit tired, though it wasn't that bad.

The farseer returned your bow, smiling. "Shall we press on or Investigate what hides behind the doorway?"

"That was the main reason that we fought those beasts. If the sleeping god put that much effort into protecting this location, it must be something important."

I think that we should probably trade Caramel out.
The poor woman has been with us from the beginning, and she must be worn out by this point.
Not to mention that she keeps getting hurt in every battle, and that she honestly is better for outdoor fighting.
I say we switch her for one of the cannonesses. Maybe we should give Florencia a chance to redeem herself.
We should also get some fuel for Tessa's flamer while we are shopping. It might come in handy in the tight corridors.
If it is getting colder as we move into the city, some heavier clothing would be a good investment as well.

Your companions immediately take point, prepping their weaponry. Tessa is the one to move in, kicking the door down and holding her evicerator out, lighting the room beyond.

It was mostly empty, artifacts from ages past scattered about. Ancient texts and data slates lay undisturbed on dust glazed tables around which sat a multitude of chairs. It was Likely some sort of waiting room or casual meeting room.

There were three doors and a stairwell one on the right, one on the left, and one on the far wall. The stairway was also on the far wall but some distance left of the door.

The Exalted Martyr herself checks if the accumulated dust has the same unpleasant effect as the one she encountered back on Ophelia VII. If not, she briefly checks if any of the dataslates or texts are still readable. If not, she still pockets a few to bring them back a possible inspection in the materium.

Once done with that, she proceeds to explore the building.
"Let's check the adjoining rooms before we take the staircase. Farseer, can you sense anything form the other rooms?"

The dust appears to be free of the effects it had in the imperium. The tomes crumble at your touch, but the data slates seem to hold up. You fidget with them. Very few are still in working order, and those that are have a cracked screen and simply show static... You think... You strain your eyes to see. The screen was translucent through the static. You bring the slate closer to get a better look through it.

Through the tiny electronic window you see people... And the building when it was new. Whether it was the ghost of a past world or the echo of memories made real in the warp you could not say. The people mulled about, working on the data slates while a woman in white sat behind a counter working with a large three dimensional hologram. It appeared to be some form of old medical facility from the look of the people and the "whitewashed" look of the room.

You take the working slates with you. One has static, one has "wavy lines," the last has a badly cracked screen.

You head toward the door on the left side of the room. The doorknob shatters in your hand as you grasp it, brittle from the bitter cold. You kick the door down instead. Beyond is an old fashioned restroom, the mirrors glazed in film, the granite countertops cracked, the metal rusted.

The hair on the back of your neck prickles.

We can do that right now, as there's a weak point right next to the building we're currently in. Also, I think we should keep these slates- they may only have special properties in the Chaos Realm, and are only junky pieces of plastic in the realworld. Let's look through the others, and see what else we see- the one with wavy lines now!
Maybe it will reveal fissures we may b e able to exploit, or enemies in hiding.

"I know nothing of your technology, however, you have that one mon-keigh with the mechanical implants. Perhaps you should consult her. The question remains however of who you are going to send back."

She took one of the data-slates from you, the white noise static one, and looked through it, her brow furrowing. "Sending Caramel back; we may lose that small daemon that has been following us, though, I dare-say, she is in dire need of a respite..." She pulled back away from the slate, before looking through it again. "It is unfortunate the picture isn't more clear..."

You nod, holding the one with the wavy lines static in front of you. This one was nearly impossible to see through, though you were fairly certain there were shapes moving.

We do want to go back into the house, just after we send Caramel back with the data slates.
We also need a heavy hitter to come with us, because if the building was guarded on the outside by such big/nasty creatures, I don't even want to imagine what's on the inside.
We don't know what is inside the building, and if the slates contain data on what it was before, we could have an advantage.
That, and an actual idea of what we are supposed to be doing.
Accessing the data in the slates may take a while, and we can't just wait around in this place for Fortran to pull out some data.
As a test, we could always send one back to see if it is damaged in transit.

Interesting - I assumed it liked Caramel because she cut it out of the snake's stomach and kept the fluffball from freezing to death afterwards. Never thought the daemon could be the reason for its attachment to the sister. Might explain its reluctance towards Esme and the others, I'd always chalked that one up to her divine aura.

"Naturally." She turned to you, her mechanical eye humming as it focused. "You had something for me?"

I hand the enginseer the slates, and quickly relate what we had found so far inside of the building.
"Please hurry, I don't want to be exposed out here for too long."
As she grabs the slates and begins to eagerly fiddle with the machines, I get the attention of Tessa and Rodwen.

I expand my mind and look for any threats in the area, and wrap my protection around Fortran

I wasn't sure if they would work, or even exist, back in the cathedral, so I've had you brought here." I gesture towards the building. "We still know very little about the actual composition of this world, and weather it is merely copying the materium, or directly snatching places from it. If i would like to recommendation, how about something with the Farseer and Delessa? Or Tybalt being loved by everyone he meets?

Also- how far away are we from the building we crashed into while fighting the sky behemoth?
Also also- has Fortran found anything interesting in the scales we sent back?

Also also also- what gun did they give Fortran? Hopefully an autogun.

The tech-priestess was handling this area of the warp fairly well. you must have snagged her with your divine aura fast enough. She looked around, her mechanical components whirling.

Fortran clicked several times, taking the dataslates as they were offered, a light on her shoulder flipping up and on. Her mechadendrite whirred to life, the claw flipping back and a soldering iron extending. a large bundle of wires with an eye and delicate claws snaked out of her backpack, her mechanical arm flipping open to reveal various tools.

"A simple matter. It will only take a moment."

Rodwen's eye twitched as she watched the tech-priestess work. "Our bonesingers are far more elegant."

She handed you back the static data slate and began working on the wavy lines one. "The final one will take some time. These two only needed tuning." She handed you back the wavy line one. "I will fix the cracks as best I can."

You examined the ones you had. The screen of the static one had a faint blue tint to it and the screen of the wavy line one had a faint green tint to it. With the light provided by Fortran, you could see that the blue one had a frequency change knob and the green one had speakers.

There was nothing else to do, after all, while she worked.

Looking through it didn't seem to do anything at first. You risked a peek inside the building and once again saw it as it used to be. The knob seemed to adjust to what degree you saw the newness of the building.

The dataslate had 5 settings. As you clicked down through them, the people inside changed, setting one showing them as monstrous beasts, The room itself in its current state, minus the ice. Settings 2-4 seemed to be every stage in-between.

You felt a tap on your pauldron and Tessa offered the green data slate with speakers. "This one does nothing as far as I can tell. There is a volume switch but fiddling with it doesn't yield results."

You fiddle with the sound one, a bit of static starting up. You slowly reach out, holding it just inside the building. You hear faint voices coming from it, the voices changing in tone and hostility as Rodwen flipped through the different visual settings.

Fortran spoke up. "I have downloaded the auditory and visual settings of each dataslate. I will be able to assist you as my ocular implant and enhanced listening devices can imitate the functionality of the slates."

Tessa examined the room, through the slate and away, pointing to the far right wall covered in ice. "There's another door over there. A metal one. Behind the ice."

Fortran glanced up from her work, her mechanical eye focusing on where Tessa had looked. "Confirmed."

Rodwen nodded. "I sense a power coming from this place. It's raw energy and growing quickly. If we want to deal with it, now would be the time."

Tessa shook her head. "Shouldn't we wait for Fortran to finish the third slate?"

Fortran fiddled with the cracked slate. "It will be some time yet." She clicked a few times, holding up the slate. The warped screen seemed partially fixed, but she hadn't even started on the cracks themselves yet.

You motion to your three companions, slipping inside. Fortran followed , nodding in approval. "I'm aware that this is unlike me, but I can sense the power eminating form this building... It... This entire situation seems far too familiar to me. The eldar discovered the birth of She Who Thirsts too late. I will not stand by idle when we can strike a blow against the chaos god.

Tessa followed a moment later, Fortran tagging along, using the eye stalk to navigate, her main eyes focused on the slate.

Fortran tilts her head. "I have already attuned my vox to your frequency. It was the first thing I did upon arrival.

You nod once and walk up to the wall of ice, your powerclaw flexing. You strike it hard. The ice is packed thickly and is stronger than any metal or stone, you rake off a large chunk of it, revealing a small portion of the metal door beyond.

Tessa stepped forward. "Oh scoot over Esme." She revved her chainsword to life, holding the white hot teeth near the ice. She had melted it in less than a minute.

The doors were unmarked and slid to either side to open. Fortran walked up and examined them, working with a small pannel on the side. Her chasis clicked a few times as she disassembled it, fiddling and soldering wires. "Simple enough." A few sparks jumped and the doors opened. It was a cage elevator of some kind. It appeared to be in working order, the shaft cold but free of ice.

Fortran touched the cage, mumbling a small prayer to the machine spirits. "This Machine Spirit is old and feeble, but it is willing to take us up if you so wish it."

Rodwen raised one eyebrow. "I'm impressed... This will help us bypass some of the other floors and their potential danger."

(your on the ground floor :P)

Fortran nearly falls forward from your grateful pat, her mechadendrite catching the doorway before she toppled. She slipped into the elevator next to the farseer, fiddling once again with the controls.

After a moment the elevator groaned and began moving upwards slowly. You pass 7 floors before the elevator grinds to a halt, not quite even with the doors of the floor your on.

"The machine spirit is tired. It must rest before taking us further. If we wish to make haste, I suggest continuing on foot." She held up the dataslate. "It is repaired." and began working on the door after handing it to you.

The doors ground slowly open and you were met with another wall of ice, which Tessa promptly took care of.

The room beyond was something out of a nightmare. Corpses littered the room disemboweled and posed mockingly, their blood mixed with the ice caking the floor and walls. Several had been pinned to the walls with swords, including an infant child. Several corpses and dismembered body parts had been nailed to the ceiling or suspended a foot or two from it by bloody, ice-encrusted ropes.

Fortran clicked several times. "Longer than I suspect the eldar would like to wait. It needs only rest. The stairs should prove adequite for the remaining journey. It is not much further. two more floors."

The Farseer summoned an orb of psykic light, holding it up and illuminating the room. It wasn't as bright as Fortran's flashlight, but it helped.

You look through the blue dataslate, flipping the volume switch on the green one. You spot the door leading to the stairwell easily, the ice very thin over it. The green one crackles with ghostly voices and tortured screams; people begging for mercy. You can only assume you are hearing the last moments of the slaughter that has occurred here. Along with the sounds of pain, there were also sounds of confusion and a keening wail that could not have come from any human.

You examine the once cracked dataslate. It had a faint red glow to it, the screen stained with spots where Fortran could not repair it. You looked through it. It didn't seem to show anything signifi-

Something moved at the corner of the dataslate. You turn quickly, seeing a gangly black creature with yellow eyes staring at you. Its body rippled and moved like water.

Fortran followed your gaze and froze, staring at it. Rodwen and Tessa look about.

"What are you looking at Mon-keigh? We need to hurry.

The creature leans back and opens its mouth, the green dataslate's speakers nearly blasting out as it picked up the daemon's cry.

It lunged at Tessa, knocking her to the ground, the sister crying out in surprise.

It took only a single grab from your powerclaw to crush its head, the creature's stealth failing it. It appeared that its ability to hide was what it relied most heavily upon for survival. With that ability compromised, it was dispatched with ease.

Tessa shakily sat up, attempting to wipe black blood and ichor off of her armor. "Thank you..."

You couldn't imagine how difficult it would have been to fight through seven levels of these creatures without the aid of the red dataslate...

The farseer swallowed, looking down at the tech-priestess. "Are there any more?"

Fortran shook her head no. "I have integrated the data into my motion sensors. There are many below us however. Let us save the machine spirit's remaining strength for the trip back down." She gestured to the elevator.

I gingerly approach one of the victims, looking to see if I can recognize their dress or discern anything from their overall state. Perhaps where they are from, originally, or how the invisible creature attacks, or specific places it targets from the wounds it inflicts.

Fortran gestured to the ice-crusted door. "It says 'stairwell' on a sign next to the door when the past is viewed.

You move quickly up the stairs to the next floor. The stairs to the top room seem to have fallen away and what remained was clogged with debris and ice from a hole in the roof.

You cautiously open the door to the ninth floor.

It took you a moment to realize what you were looking at. Flesh. The tanned hides of dozens of people adorned the walls and floor, locked undisturbed beneath a layer of frost and ice. The center housed a structure made of human bone and other object you have seen frozen in this building, roughly shaped into the mark of this chaos god.

Fortran is tense. "I sense the psykic presence is getting more powerful. Its in the room above us..."

Fortran nudged you, gazing at the far left corner of the room. Fortran looked through the dataslate. "There are several there..." The green dataslate chittered softly, both Fortran and the tech-priestess tracking their movements.

"Four of them... No five... If I incapacitate them can you hit them?" she handed you back the red dataslate. "Or do you have a better plan?

Rodwen stepped into the room, whistling. You look through the dataslate. The creatures whipped around to look at her, quickly moving to surround her.

The farseer closed her eyes, psykic energy crackling around her. You were about to call out to her when you felt yourself slowly float into the air, along with everything else in the room that wasn't nailed down.

Tessa and Fortran both grabbed the doorway to keep themselves from drifting off. The farseer glanced back at you. "Go! Fly! I can't maintain this for long."

You reangle yourself, dispatching the fourth as you landed, the fifth turning and running, climbing out the shattered window, its claws clicking on the outer walls as it climbed down the building.

Rodwen picked herself up off the ground, panting hard. "It has been far too long since i've done that... And without the proper items to focus it..." She shook her head, climbing to her feet.

Tessa and Fortran quickly moved to your side. "Are you alright Esme?"

"Everybody grab hold of me, there is no way that elevator is going to make it down without killing us."
I walk to the window, and as each of the women grab hold, I crack a joke before beginning the trip down.
"Nice to know that I'm loved," I say cheekily, and I launch us into the air, repeating the chant I had used to go up.

I am quite curious as well. Writing for Filigree was a tad hard since she was a daemon, and I tried to incorporate that into her personality.

To me, Filigree was acting rather strange - for a daemonette. Her whole team was just as easily dispatched as Delessa managed to interrogate Filigree, and she practically threw herself at the Inquisitor for a chance to remain in the materium. She hasn't done anything to harm Delessa's mission and even risked her existence in the materium to save her Inquisitor's life.

Filigree was formed from curiosity, hardly the stuff for a frontline daemonette and her fighting capabilities have been rapidly improving since she's joined the Inquisitor.

I concluded that Filigree was either created in a rush to bolster the daemons' ranks for the warp generator scheme or conscripted before her "proper" daemonic training was complete.

I guessed that she had never been to the materium before, so that Delessa has, at least as far as such a thing is possible, bound an "innocent" (If you subscribe to the view that the opposite of innocence is experience) daemonette.

A thought that fills me with glee.

Your theory is very fun, and I could definately see how that would work.
It does make her love/affection seem a little more genuine than my fic.
I went in pretty well the opposite direction, with her being an older and jaded daemonette that was really bored.

a full day without sex? for a daemonette? PREPOSTEROUS!

the amount of character yes you have here with Filigree is just... perfect. Unbelievably adorable but you never forget that she is, in fact, a daemon.

Oh this fiction is the best character capture yet. Florencia and Eden were good. Tessa was great. The twins I couldn't have written better myself, but Filigree... That was pretty much how i Imagined her. Down to every little detail.

    >>13595599

Its more that she wasn't created for the purpose of combat like many of the other daemonettes were. she doesn't have the strength behind her claws, nor the tougher skin that they do and is therefore put into combat situations less. But put her in power armor and give her a weapon...

Well this and a lash of torment. heeee

Technically Filigree is far more innocent than other daemonettes in the sense that her roles are different. She was crafted earlier than some of the more modern combat oriented daemonettes and out of stuff that wouldn't normally be used for a figthing 'nette.

You however are very correct about her being newer to the realms of mortals. Its not her first visit in general but it is her fist visit where she has manifested for so long.

They break it down in Liber Chaotica. Daemons in the mortal realm are like fish out of water since they rely on the energies of the warp. The only way they can stay manifest is if there is a constant supply of warp energies or if they are bound either to or in another living being. Its delessa's soul and psykic powers that keep her manifested. Its also very one sided. Delessa can exist without Filigree but not vise versa. The bond remains even if she is destroyed though which means she gets to use Delessa's soul as a chewtoy when she kicks the bucket.

I mean, yeah, you could probably get someone to exorcise Filigree but seeing how she's like... the most popular/loved character in the quest (if not my second guess is Caramel) I really wasn't going to bother bringing it up.

    I got off track...

that would be a clusterfuck thats for sure. 300 candidates dropped onto a derelict world the inqusition seeded with the strongest nids they could find.

Survivors are picked up after a month... if there are any

Its not like the sisters are forced into it either. being called a silver winged angel is an enormous deal. Even getting the invitation and not actually doing the survival test will earn you respect.

also i realized i made a mistake earlier in the story. Galatea has been Canoness for 135 years. I said that was her age. Its not. She is much older.

I would like to know your favorite characters. maybe give me a top 3

as for specifics i'm not sure. I might be using that bit of plot later on and highlight some key stuff about how the twins operate. If you wait till then you'll have a framework of the process itself.

Here are some other ideas from me but you guys decide what to do ok? doesn't have to be from this list if you dont want.

maybe do something with Galatea? Back when she was in her prime.

Esme's wacky warp adventures while hunting Miriael

The torture the Harlots of Chaos endured as they were broken and possessed

Elizabeth and Sonja... anything really here.

    moar filigree-o-vision

A comedy story involving Florencia and a misunderstanding about the definition of heresy

I dunno take your pick or let the other questers decide. I just enjoy reading them :3

All right, I'll hold off on the twins. I shall also go through some of the scenarios in a few hours, and see which ones I can get a good story for.
    >>13601817
It shows, OP. None of the characters feel 2D. Well, except for Elizabeth, but that's why we love her. We needed a stereotypical Sister in there somewhere.
I couldn't really think of a top three, but for the depth of characterization and my ability to explain, I think I would have to go with Filigree, Caramel, and Florencia.
Filigree is fun, because she is a non-traditional take on daemonettes. People love to focus on the sex, drugs, and rock and roll aspect, but I have always felt that the artistic side of Slaanesh is rarely explored. She is also just a funny character, while still retaining her depth, which is again quite rare for daemons. The romance between her and Delessa is absolutely adorable, as well.
I love Caramel since she just tries so hard. The poor thing was broken, possessed, nearly killed multiple times, horibly mutilated, and other horrible things, and she is still going strong. She also stays true to character in the fact that she doesn't feel worthy, is always seeking penance, and otherwise showing her Sisterly awesomeness. I think we should probably have her serve with Delessa if we survive, though, since it would be hard for her to serve with the rest of the Sisters.
Florencia...well she's just Florencia. A raging bitch in the best possible manner, and a foil to everybody else. I mean, we're practically running the Reasonable Order of the sisterhood, so we needed a raving zealot to balance everything out. Her MEGA-TSUNDERE towards Galatea is just too cute, as well.
I could go on at length about the other characters, though.

Elizabeth probably has more written and going for her in OP's background notes but it hasn't come up yet since she's only really been in combat situations.

Does she like kittens OP? I bet she likes kittens.

Also fanfiction idea. Instead of doing the twins during the nid survival test thing, maybe write about how the twins both survived and are being brought into the silver winged angels. Novices now walking shoulder to shoulder with veterans.

also, I have a suggestion. OP tends to make the twins mirror each other a little more than they did in your fic. They were definitely the same characters as OPs but they seemed a bit more distinct. It made them seem less experienced.

Then again your fic did take place before the nid trial and i'd expect their minds got a little more mushed together during that from the stress of battle and injuries if what happened previously in the quest is anything to go on.
