    Recollection:
    On an artifact raid mission you and 3 mates were assigned to infiltrate an secure and abandoned base. After reaching ground floor you attempted to activate power but the Synomium device AI is damaged and now treats you as hostile invaders. You have to drill yourself through doors from room to room to reach the base control and deactivate it yourselves. Number 08 is working on hacking into opening the blast doors when suddenly a Calcinite, a liquid life form, attempted to crawl around you but you stabbed it and scared ot away.

    The blast doors open up and you see into the dimness of next room, you see there is an elevator that is leading up to the upper level. There is also another blast door at the opposite end of the room his rooms seems rather clean and undamaged, probably because the blast doors. 08 and 32 are coming to join you.

    I also forgot to mention the the lights are out on the whole base only an emergency lighting provide some limited visibility.

    You proceed into the room with 68 on your side looking around you see no movement the sticky and slippery foliage that covered the floor of the previous room is completely absent from here.

    There are no light switches in this base the lights normally turn on automatically once someone enters a room however right now the emergency base shutdown by the damaged Synomium device AI disabled this function. Only the emergency lights are active everywhere during shutdown.

    08 and 32 arrive to join you

    Upon closer inspection the elevator is powered down as well you cannot reach the upper floor with it unless you somehow manage to reactivate it or find some other means to do so.

    You suggest trying and standing on each other to reach the upper floors, the leader 08 likes the idea and asks the squad to help out. 68 suggest that it may be helpful if you could collect some pieces of debris from the previous rooms to help with that.

    32 goes into the elevator shaft and check the height it seems to be to be just good enough if 3 of you can stand up on each other the third could theoretically reach the upper floor the only problem would be to get the lowest members up. Since you were not prepared for this you have no rope or proper climbing equipment with you.

    Number 68 stays true to his word and goes back to collect useful trash, 32 decides to help him out. Leader 08 says that he did not receive blueprints for the base and the data is locked down like everything else so he has no clue where the master panel is. He only knows as much as everyone else here, you suggest that you should look for it and he agrees. The only door you did not check is towards the east from here the other corridors in the previous rooms all collapsed.

    Number 68 proves himself once again, he managed to find a large discarded plastic plate in the foliage this can be great if you weld it to the walk it could practically reduce the height by a quarter. 32 had good luck he found some cables which are not particularly thick but seems okay to help pull up one of you.

    You decide to check the door on the east this is a fortified blast door much like the one through which you came into the elevator room.

    To your utmost surprise the door unlocks once you step close and slowly opens up. The next room is totally dark not even the emergency lighting is operational. After a few seconds of waiting you notice a pair of glowing orbs appears in the next room, the another and another and more.

    Enraged by their attack you draw your strength and fiercely claw into their belly with your smaller pincers they scream in pain for a moment their grip loosens on you. Using the opportunity swipe one off you but not let go with the small pincers, then you grab the other one‘s neck with your large pincers and rip his head off. The other unable to get free while your small pincers dug themselves deep you swipe at it and smash it into the wall while you two small pincers pull out its insides. It turns into a lifeless ragdoll and moves no more.

    While this happened 32 and 68 join the fight from the other room and opes fire into the crowd.

    Leader lives up for his veteran status as he lets his rifle away and but then skillfully grabs both opponents each with one of his greater pincers and snatches the rifle away with his lower ones. Then he slams the two together and throws one to the floor and steps on it then shows you some admirable RIP&TEAR action as he snaps the Tasoth into two by the belly then pins the last one to the ground with his great pincer around its neck. He could have killed it but it seems he has other plans.

    You get up and take your rifle back from the Tasoth that bested you twice in close combat. Then all of you gather with Leader who still holds the last Tasoth down. He attempts to question it about its actions but it does not answer, moreover it seems that it doesn’t even understand your communication at all, this creature is only acting on its predatory instincts as most of the others did. They showed little signs of the intelligence their kind usually should, they had no weapons with themselves either.

    68 and you take up position at the two corners of the door with 08 and 32 backing you up. You and 68 move inside ready to shoot but you see no movement, the room is pretty dark you can make out some limited things. This room is full of machinery.

    The 68 touches one of them and they come to life and each start to glow a bit you see two rows of cloning and incubation chambers in arranged in a line along the wall. They all have Tasoths in them in different stages of development the majority are still in embryonic stage some that are barely grown and some that are fully grown just like the one you fought. You also see that 7 chambers are empty meaning these are the ones your attackers came from. These are all dormant and asleep.

    On the opposite end of the room you can notice 3 panels in the dim light that is provided by the chambers.

    Other than the sleeping Tasoths this room is empty.

    Leader follows suit with you and connects into the middle panel from the three. After a few minutes of silence he has good news, the energy that keeps this room active can be used to bring the elevator online. However there is a cost, if he does this that will shut down all the chambers in here effectively killing most if not all the developing Tasoths that are slumbering in here.

    Leader start to work on the panels and in a few minutes the tanks around start cease oxygen circulation and lights go out. Soon all of them go offline and dark. The emergency lights turn on in this room after this. The Tasoth bodies do not move at all somehow you expected them to wake up and fight for their life or suffocate. But the sight is much more peaceful nothing happens as life fades away from the dozens of bodies with the youngest ones first, the older ones following.

    It makes you wonder that this could happen even with you one day, you go back to your chamber for a rest you just never wake up anymore and you do not even know that you died. A frightening fate of those who live their lives tied closely to these machines, if these machines fail there is not salvation left.

    The elevator’s lights soon come online and access to the upper level is finally open.

    Your squad leaves the room and gathers at the four person elevator. Before leaving you turn back and take a last look at these unfortunate creatures. They died before they were even born just so that you could complete your orders.

    You go to the elevator and go up one by one. The lighting and base’s condition is no different on the upper level than it was at the lower levels. It turns out that this is not the control room at all you arrived to a similar room that was below and towards the south is another larger room and its doors has fallen out or broken by force. You can see inside the floor is littered with pieces of rocks and plastics.

    Your squad sees nothing unusal right now, no movement no enemies.

    what i'm thinking of is about the size of a soda can, it's a remote controlled pair of wheels with a camera in the front and is durable enough to be thrown some 30 feet and still do it's job of remote recon. there's a pipe/tube that sticks out the side opposite to the camera and ensure the camera always points in the right direction. They're in use in iraq/afganistan now and cost like 200$ to build including the remote.
