Pretty poorly, I'm afraid. The idiots out doing the feildwork havn't brought much back for me to examine, so I'm left running diagnostics on the servitors for the thousandth time.

Terribly. Our tech adept can't even spell 'fieldwork' and disregards all our reports as irrelevant and nonsensical. I knew we shouldn't have blown up the Mechanicus facility back on Tashen's World. We didn't tell her, but I guess she found out somehow...

Yes; I'm not Chem-gelded and have no intention on persuing the Rite of Clear Though. Research, data-mining, and work duties leave little time for such dalliances, but I have persued relations with others before. It has been several years since the last time, however.

Well. More than several. Nearly ten.

But speculating on the magnitude of blowing up your own home forge? Destroying so much holy technolgy! The idea is insane! Blowing the enemy up, of course, but your own side?

Some people owe me favours. I'm pretty sure I can get my hands on some mind-altering chemicals and make him think it was all a daydream, should things go horribly wrong.

statistics suggest a group such as ours, with its internal strife, would either be brought together or destroyed by the experience.
strangely enough, there is no middle ground in this instance.
i am unsure of the exact percentages, and for that i apologise, i could only collate seven sources together and thus can do little more that look to an adept of the omnissiah for more clear percentages.

    >> Techpriestess Lidia 03/27/10(Sat)22:47 No.8827023
Data seems to correlate with Strelok's findings. An individual matching Shih-na's physical makeup did indeed purchase an unliscenced gun-cutter from a black market dealer and escape off world shortly before our arrival. The possibility remains it was a Xenos creature or Heretic somehow mirroring her appearance, but it seems slim.

The only thing that matters here is evidence, Captain.

    >the cruisers data logs state that Adept Shih-na 's authority was used to aquire a gun cutter and depart the planet scant hours before our first investigation team arrived on scene

...There are so very many things wrong with that statement the mind boggles.

Firstly, Inquisitor Lang's cruiser can't access the planet's network. Secondly, all the transports are either in pieces, vaporised or accounted for. She could not have taken one.

...Are you accusing Inditor Shih-na of murder?

not at all lady inquisitor. my doubts as to the adepts guilt in this case was assuaged by you earlier.

and with all due respect lady inquisitor, as for the matter of the data i found, it was not on the planets, data hub but on the cruisers. that the cruiser had no access to the planet is irrellivant, as the information was transferred beforehand.

also i never specified that the cutter was one of the cruisers.

the files were found in operational planning.

perhaps this is all a part of a larger plan by Inquisitor Lang himself?

We are investigating the murder of Inquisitor Lang.
He had evidence pertaining to a heretic cult in this area, and had sent a message to Inquisitor Miles to meet him in this area, but was found dead in his crashed transport.
His personal Inditor, Shih-na, was not killed in the crash and had been seen purchasing a transport off-world by that unconscious man over there.

If I may speak freely, ma'am, that problem only has three possible solutions.

First one is to train your men, instil the love for discipline and teach them what are the proper proceedings when conducting an investigation. Second is to change your team for one that fits the above description and, finally, be there with them.

You'll agree with me on the fact that the last one is incredibly complicated and time consuming. Therefore, one has to default for either option one or option two.

This is what I think happened, Miles.
Inquisitor Lang came to the planet with Shih-na to corner the cult here. He's allways been headstrong that way.

On the way down, a cultist assassin revealed himself and assassinated Lang when he was distracted piloting the ship.

After that, the assassin used the pod on the ship to eject to the surface, leaving it around here somewhere, bought a ship and left the planet.

    Simple, and perfect.

This still wouldn't explain why he would be piloting the craft himself, when he could get a navy pilot from his cruiser to do it for him.

What I'm getting at is that he shouldn't have been distracted piloting the ship, when we Inquisitors wouldn't pilot a ship if there's someone else to do it for us!

I think that at this point we all need to take a step the fuck back.

We know who we're looking for. They're on a gun cutter, and we know when they took off from the planet, so we should be able to figure out how far they might have gotten.

Here is my proposed list of shit to get done:
    1. Scan as much of the surrounding space as we can for the gun cutter. As I said, we should have a good estimate as to how far it could have gone.
    2. Check the moon(s), if it is possible for the subject to have gotten that far.
    3. Keep in contact with any ships in the area, specifically those who might have taken on the subject's gun cutter.
    4. Question the shopkeeper when he wakes up, and go through any records he may have kept.

His cruiser should have logged any stowage, for cargo can upset a craft's trim and make piloting more difficult.

Mind wiped servitors can do the same.

If I had critical information being so important that I needed to guard this personally, I wouldn't any part of my attention towards piloting a ship, hands-on investigator or not. I'd have a professional pilot/pilot-servitor handle my shuttle, just in case.

Lang made it clear that this evidence was possibly bigger than any of us here.

Well then, Inquisitor Miles Edgeworth, what do you think happened?
    >> Sister Varity 03/28/10(Sun)01:44 No.8829843
She could have hired a ship of planet. Or, could have forced the Inquisitor's copilot to curry her. Or, there could well have been her and a copilot, and they actually worked in tandem. Could there have been a second person involved not known of?
    >> Nameless 03/28/10(Sun)01:45 No.8829872
If the evidence was that important, could it still be on his cruiser? They are VERY hard to kill.
    >> Crusader-in-Training Narl Haxtes 03/28/10(Sun)01:47 No.8829900
I suppose that would explain the hand that was found.

But really, these are questions best answered by the people involved, assuming there is more than one, and those persons are most likely on a gun cutter that is getting farther and farther away.

So perhaps it is time to alter our focus from speculation to finding that ship?
    >> Sister Varity 03/28/10(Sun)01:47 No.8829912
Could it have been duplicated? Or is it even physical. The 'evidence' could have been a person.

A Guncutter cannot leave the system by itself, it may be possible to find it, still. One could place the descriptions of those involved to local Arbites and ports, and ensure they do not attain a warp capable ship. Though, it would make sense to assume this has already been done.

It would be difficult to postulate anything due to the fact that we haven't found any definitive evidence yet.

Y-yes, that sounds like a reasonable next step.

    >1. Scan as much of the surrounding space as we can for the gun cutter. As I said, we should have a good estimate as to how far it could have gone.

It wouldn't be able to leave the system.

    >2. Check the moon(s), if it is possible for the subject to have gotten that far.

Given the speed of the craft and time elapsed, it could have.

    >3. Keep in contact with any ships in the area, specifically those who might have taken on the subject's gun cutter.

The only ships in the area are Lang's and mine. This is a backwater area.
    >4. Question the shopkeeper when he wakes up, and go through any records he may have kept.

They're irrelevant; mostly black market dealings and smuggling. This fool is definitely not a cultist.
    >> Crusader-in-Training Narl Haxtes 03/28/10(Sun)02:04 No.8830237
Well, there first point isn't about it leaving the system, but as far as I can tell it's either on the one of the moons (how many are there?), some how got on one of our ships, or is still very near by the planet.

As for checking the records and questioning the merchant... mostly about finding a serial number or some such that we could scan for or inform port authorities of. It'll be much easier to keep track of the cutter that way.

We captured her...but...I can't help feeling we have missed something.

She came on-board with Lang before they left as they had planned...On the way to the planet, a second accomplice, a cultist assassin-who was the piolot, one Calisto Yew-revealed herself and killed Inquisitor Lang.
Once they made planetfall (Which was made more difficult by the fact that Yew's left hand was severed during the combat with Inquisitor Lang). After making a crash-landing, they left the body and purchased a ship from a nerby black-market dealer.
They were to wait on Tashen's Moon for a larger ship to pick them up, but that didn't go to plan for them.

And your evidence, Miles. Care to share what was so important to Lang?
It may fill in some gaps.

I can requisition any ship from any chapter I wish.
