Mentlegen, let us create another fictional species. We did so twice yesterday, and both threads are archived. It appeared to be quite an enjoyable process so, hell, let's see where this goes this time.

Huge it is. Basically, they're so big chances are they'd only just about fit into the room that you're currently in. This means that in order to generate a hivemind, lots of them would need to be constructed.

I'm going to take a rough guess here and say that they would be created from enchanted 'cocoons' of cloth. As soon as enough cloth is wrapped around and the cocoon is large enough, it transforms into a brand new cloth-spider.

    However, who handles the creation?
    >Specific creators (Wizards, mad scientists, etc)
    >The spiders (They do it themselves)
    >Natural (When large enough piles of cloth gather, a cloth-spider is automatically created)

You wake up violently as your rug, mattress, sheets, pillow, curtains and blanket have joined together in an unholy monstrosity that has just injected paralytic venom into you, and is about to suck your SOUL out of your body as soon as your innards turn into goo.

    Combining these.

So, I have a general idea of what we have here.

Constructed of the discarded silk of demonic arachnid servants of Lolth, as well as the clothing of the damned and the Spider Queen's worshippers, these cloth-spider wander the Demonweb, maintaining it constantly. As they journey throughout the Demonweb, they also perform for their masters and mistresses and sometimes for their demonic deity herself, putting on gaudy, extravagent shows, highly comical and entertaining.

For their loyalty and the pleasing display they put on, these cloth-spiders are actually highly regarded and praised as favoured children of Lolth. So much do they please her, in fact, that she arranges a competition. Every century, the finest troupes in the Demonweb gather at the heart of it to perform before her. The greatest group gains the honour of being able to tour and perform in the Prime Material for the rest of their existances, terrifying mortal folk. However, these sentient constructs also go with another task - to satiate their curiosity and to understand the underlying truths of the world and to see everything that there is to see, so that the Hivemind may construct finer plays still. There is not a single cloth-spider that does not wish to dance beneath the moon of the Prime Material, and send the truth of the experience back to the Hivemind.

However, there's one last thing we haven't talked about when it comes to this race of sentient constructs.

    What are they called?

Many millennia ago, well after the hive was created and its first name was lost to time, a troupe was asked what it called itself by a mortal that did not flee in fear. Pausing, the cluser thought back to a name shrieked by a woman as she fled in terror from the show, the first name the hive cluser could recall hearing.

Thus, the felty hive answered the curious mortal:

    "Jim Henson."
