Having just reunited with Hovis Goddard and your new Artillery MA (PICTURED), the air raid sirens just went off, signalling that the enemy are mounting a large scale air raid, just as Captain Boone feared they would last episode.

You and the rest of your unit are currently at the testing grounds. Returning to the hangar is a 10 minute drive by road.

An MG and Magella cannon for us and Ruubens, Zol with an MG and two Heat Hawks, Jolyne with MG and Heat Hawk, and Calvin should try to find himself a spare Zaku F or Zaku F2 if we have it, for the fight since we probably won't need recon.

This is actually a pretty good use of the Recon Zaku's abilities that I hadn't thought of, and will work quite well.

Although given how simple the AI is, I often wonder how hard it would be to knock something up with flash. All you'd need to do would be to rip the images from the latest PS2 version. Hell, it looks like they just took a Gunpla and then made stop-motion animations for all of the units anyway.

The Gaw is already in the middle of a large furball, smoke and flames billowing from holes in it's sides. The damage from last night must not have been repaired fully.

You also spot two wings of bombers making a run on the base, being escorted by a wing of Interceptors.

Get in the air and aim for the bombers first with the magella.

If we can detonate their payloads and they're in a tight formation it can cause some devastation.

Ruubens loops around and fires a burst of shells and the underslung grenade launcher at the last bomber, taking it out as well.

Behind you the Gaw calls out a distress call.

"This is Gaw Flight 115, we've lost Zaku escort and have taken heavy damage, can anyone assist?"

Transport ships do fine, it's Gaw's specifically that you keep losing.

You direct Calvin to act as a spotter for Hovis and start clearing out those fighters whilst the rest of you move to assist.
On the ground, the Rhino's turrets tilt upwards and begin filling the air with flak and missiles. Enemy fighters begin to tumble out of the sky, and the remainder scatter outwards.
You move in and meet up with the Gaw.

"Thanks for the assist! We've lost AA turets 2 through 4 and we've got heavy damage on the port wing surfaces! I'd take her in to land, but I don't think the enemy is going to let us! I estimate we can keep in the air for another ten minutes at most!"

There are roughly 20 planes circling around your general position. A mixture of FF-6 Tincod fighters, Fly Manta's and a small number of Saberfish Heavy Fighters. Splitting up would allow you to attack more of them at once, but could over expose yourself.

Gihrens Greed got the wierdest difficulty curve, going from "Zeta era suits at the start of the Earth invasion? THIS IS SO EASY" to "HOW DO THEY CHURN OUT 15 MAGELLAN BATTLESHIPS EVERY TURN?!".
I don't even think there's a difficulty where the AI doesn't get at least 10x your resources and money (and something like x50 at the highest).
I've never managed to get anywhere but on very easy and easy (even then you have to do some damn gamey shit to survive changing eras). You'd think the developers would learn how to program an AI/Balance the game after 4+ games.

You have your group split into pairs and assault the enemy fighters. A quick and vicious dogfight ensues.
You and Jolyne take on a pair of Saberfish, Jolyne uses her 180mil to force the enemy to escape in your direction whereby you take them out. You avoid a pair of Tincods as they attempt to attack you from above and spray their direction with bullet's getting their attention enough for them not to notice Ruubens and Zolomon swoop by and take them out.

Zolomon sees the attack just in time and pulls up. The plane impacts against his Dodai. Zolomon leaps free, and his heat rod lashes out and wraps around your leg. Your Dodai strains with the extra weight, but holds.

The planes are now dealt with, you scan the area and drop low. On the ground you see some flames and explosions. You also make out several parachutes and enemy tanks.

"Hey boss! Drop me on top of one of those Tanks! It's been a while since I HANO dropped on top of enemy armour, I want to see if I still got it!"

You swing around and with a gleeful whoop, Zolomon uncurls his heat rod and leaps towards the enemy armour, his arms outstretched a heathawk in each hand.

"Sir! We've got what looks like a Federation Paradropped Tank platoon assaulting the base from the North East, the Rhino is already moving to assault!"

The Gaw is already attempting an emergecny landing on the strip. You had better keep that area of the base clear though.

It's been shown that tanks stand no chance vs. mobile suits. I'd say assault full fury of Zeon at them, but keep spotter guy watching our backs in case they are going to try to ambush us with say, a squad of suits of their own while we are busy with tanks.

Let the plane land, keep a medium altitude, strafe the tanks. Drop crackers if we have any. Otherwise strafe with MG fire and the grenade launcher.

Fucking terrifying. Imagine being inside a tank, seeing a massive fuckoff huge robot falling out of the sky, axes the size of office buildings in each hand glowing red hot, rapidly getting close and closer to you.

Shout at Zolomon to shout something awesome. Shoot the nearest group of enemies, ask Hovis for a more thorough report if possible. For now, Tell Jolyne to gun for anything massive, Hovis likewise, Calvine working with the two of them to paint targets, and Ruuben should work to keep the airfield clear.

Lister dives in with Zolomon, or goes with Ruuben, depending on where there's a larger Feddie presence.

Remember, we definitely need to keep our eyes peeled/wary for anything ambushlike/unexpected. The Feddies probably aren't going to be mounting an attack like this without SOME kind of trick up their sleeves. Be on alert.

also - we are still totally sore and needing to prove ourselves even more after our colossal fuckup earlier. capturing ships was awesome, but guilt can motivate you a loooong ways.

You have Ruubens and Calvin escort the Gaw whilst the rest of you follow Zolomon's lead and dive in.

Your bullets craze around the tanks formation forcing them to scatter. You see Zolomon land directly on top of one tank, annihilating it utterly.
You then dive off your Dodai and into the formation, using your GL to take out a couple of tanks that were too close together.
Then the rest of the unit lands.

After that, it's just a massacre.

AIR RAID DEFEATED.

oh yeah. I kind of forgot that their fleet is being caught in the naval pincer very soon and will be annihilated.
Still, should be careful. glory of Zeon is best gained by keeping our soldiers alive.

And all Zolomon wanted to do was axe them a few questions.

Actually, you haven't really changed canon all that much this arc.
You might have encouraged them to build more Zocks, and a couple more Subs went down on your side than canon, but that's about it. Also the Jaburo Assault MS were never built in Canon, now, not only are they being built, but there's a chance they'll actually be used in an assault on Jaburo.

Since the GAW seemed to take such a beating while strafing that Feddie surface fleet it might have an easier time if it were to orbit it's targets. I'm thinking either Mega Particle Beam weapons or a 300mm copied from the Mass production Hilda.
