And I am so glad i could contribute, even if it was just a small bit. Sound in Space, motherfucking microcline, Dawn of War and Dwarf Fortress 12 hour marathons, Cthulhu, and so much more. Even got a Champions Group in at the last minute.

Next year, we are bringing this bigger and better. BEST BOARD ON 4CHAN!

On the downside 2009 brought the infestation of quest threads is annoying. Especially the nights when 4-5 are going at once.

On the upside 2009 brought us...

Phalanx Fighting was a great one shot thread.

The rise and fall of the Unified Furfag Setting was quite amusing.

A good half hour after that little sparkling ball hit the 2010 I was already tired of the party. I didn't feel like drinking, and I knew that I'd have to clean up this mess in the morning, so I just went into the study to rest and get away from all the people.

It wasn't very long until Matt found me in the study, "Hey James, what's wrong man? You're missing your own party."
I told him, "I just can't stand being out there with all these people I know, knowing that this is the year I move away for my new job."
Matt sobered up after the reminder, after all we'd been friends since middle school. "Well we're just going to have to cheer you up aren't we? We should get a game going!"
I started to reply but Matt was already rushing out the door.

    ----

"Jay, just give up you just aren't going to be able to lift it!" chuckled the Half-Orc Barbarian, watching the muscular, but small, Half-Elf Ranger try to right their wagon. "No Born, it was my fault that the wagon turned over so I'm going to lift it back up-right." "Whatever you say buddy."
A little ways away the two smaller members of the party sat on a rock trying to pass the time as the two larger members tried to fix the wagon. "How long do you think it'll take em to get the wagon back up at this rate?" asked the petite Halfling Rogue, the only female member of the party. She was balancing a dagger on a small finger, trying to stave off boredom, and a cut, with quickness and balance.
Answering in his melodic deep voice, the party's Artificer, an elderly Gnome by the name of Fridridllestick 'Fred' Fizzlecrack said "Oh I don't know Dawna," as he scratched his beard in contemplation he continued with "but by my calculations they should finish, oh, within the next month or so"-

"Oh, stop laughing Laura! I have to roll higher than a 14 at some point. Oh and thanks for the crack Jason, but I'm pretty sure Jay can lift the wagon eventually... he just doesn't have that high of a strength."
    Ah my friends.
Matt of course playing is favorite, a ranger, and as usual he won't leave a job up to someone else who would be better suited for it because it was HIS fault.
Laura, an old friend from Drama club, laughing at Matt's character's misfortune as Matt keeps rolling Strength checks and failing.
Walt, with his big ol nerdy glasses and his clashingly huge jock body sitting across from Matt just smiling, knowing his character Born could lift the wagon in a heartbeat.
Jason replying in that voice so uncharacteristic that he puts it with all his characters, 5 foot 6 and sounding like Barry White could only tell Matt "Hey, I could show you the calculations if you like."

My wonderful friends. Who've been letting me be their DM for years now, and I was just going to abandon them for a new job in Connecticut... But they didn't mind. As long as I could keep telling them stories, they said, I would always be there.
"Alright everybody, enough horsing around, let's get back to the game. Alright Matt I believe you were on your.. uh... 12th strength check to lift the wagon back up."-

Down went the zombie with a mighty swing from Born's axe. Jay fired arrow after arrow into the skeleton until deciding it was a futile effort. He called to his companion Blacktip, a large Grey Wolf, and pulled his longswords to face the evil creature instead.
Dawna was in the back trying to keep a zombie from interrupting Freds arcane spellcasting with harrying blows and subtle misdirection.
Once the battlefield was quiet but for the panting of the adventurers the party took stock. They were in the cemetary that their contact in town said would hold a Ghast that had been harassing the nearby villages. Though the fight was rough, most of the party was pretty much intact and ready to move in.
As Jay searched for clues as to which area of the cemetary the Ghast might live everyone else could only stand wary, the cemetary was filled with an evil that was palpable to those even without divine training.
"I found something!" the Ranger exclaimed when he found the tracks that he recognized as those of the Ghast's. The Ranger's search had led him straight up to a large mausoleum of grey granite. It appeared sealed shut with no obvious way in.
Dawna hopped up enthusiastically "I'm sure I can find something! Here just let me l-"

"My gal's gonna drive me home now, so I thought I'd say night and Happy New Year! Oh, and some of the other guests have kinda been wondering where you are..."
With that he up and left, slamming the door slightly though I'm sure it wasn't on purpose. "Well guys maybe we should give this a rest for now... I am supposed to be hosting a party."
That one simple statement was met with one of the most disgusted collective groans I'd ever heard.
"Oh come on!" says Matt almost looking like a child about to pout. "We gotta keep going, there's more stuff to kill!" Walt said with an eager look on his face.
"Honestly I really want to get to the bottom of the problem and if it is the Ghast get rid of it" added Jason. "Pleeeaaase!" asked Laura "Dawna was just getting to do something Roguey!"
I looked at my friends, not even halfway out of my chair. I just couldn't say no. "Alright Laura, I believe you were about to make a search check to find some way to open the mausoleum..."-

"Come on Jay wake up!" Yelled Fred as he tried to wake his paralyzed friend. Frantic he looked back to the pitched battle.
Born was giving it everything he had to keep the Ghast from his friends, taking hit after hit and shrugging off the toxins that would have downed 30 regular men.
But his super-human rage was burning itself out, the bags of fatigue already appearing under the mighty Barbarian's eyes.
Trying to bring the foul thing down with Born Dawna was taking a support position on the other side of the Ghast, stabbing it where there should be weak spots but finding none in the putrid undead thing.
Finally with a shake of his head and a loud deep breath Jay shook off his paralysis. Taking Fred's help to get up and take out his bow Jay noticed the Ghast's newest victim.
Jay's faithful friend, and Ranger Animal Companion, Blacktip lay dead at the Ghasts feet. Giving his life so that Jays friends would have a chance to get him to safety during his paralysis.
With hate burning in his eyes Jay vowed to the creature "Foul undead! For what you've done I would kill you a thousand times a thousand times, but I fear you will only feel one!"
As Jay set about letting loose a mighty volley of arrows Fred turned back to his companions, trying to give them what arcane assistance he could since he was no good in combat.
But it wasn't long before Born took one more blow that knocked the wind out of him, and not only that, it seemed to deflate him as at the same time his barbarian's rage died away, and so too did his in-human vigor.
With a massive thud the Half-Orc fell to the ground, barely breathing eyes rolled into the back of his head with the fever of the Ghasts wounds finally taking effect due to the Barbarian's weakened state.

The beast fought on like it had never been attacked, first taking out Dawna with it's paralyzing bite and then rounding on Fred, bringing down the Artificer with mundane claw and fang.
Jay backed up, bringing still more arrows to bear. He pincussioned the creature, from head to toe it was filled with Jay's Black-Fletched arrows. Black-Fletched, odd that he should notice something so simple, especially since he had made these arrows himself.
The Ghast finally reached Jay and with an unearthly howl it-

"Hey James the last of us are taking off. It's like 4 AM guys, you should probably all be calling it a night."
As the door shut and I heard the front door close once more I looked back at my friends. Everyone looked tired, some leaning just a bit too heavily on the table.
But they had that gleam in their eyes. I knew they could go on. So could I.

    ----

"I still can't believe you didn't run elf." Born said for about the thousandth time since getting healed by the towns Cleric of Pelor.
"You were injured and poisoned, everyone else was down, and by all accounts that thing could go another hour of fighting."
"Indeed." added Fred "The smart thing to do would have been to go get help. Surely at that point someone could have helped you slay the thing much more safely, and it likely would have waited for our wounds or diseases to finish us.
    Ghasts prefer their meat dead."
"Okay that's gross Fred" Dawna had to pipe in, but she also said "I, for one, am glad he stuck around. Jay finished off the Ghast and saved our butts. Didntcha Jay?"
"Well.." he began, but couldn't seem to find how to answer. Looking at all his companions of many adventures, all he could say was
"I can't do anything without you guys, without you I wouldn't have a party."

"Alright guys, that wraps up that adventure. How'd you like it?"
I was assailed from all sides from things like "Oh man that fight was awesome!" to "Hey that was some good roleplaying Matt." and even "Eww could you imagine getting bit by a Ghast? It'd be all stick then *urgh* paralyzed."
"I'm glad you guys liked the adventure." Matt got a pretty sad look on his face as we all walked out towards the front door.
"It's really too bad, that was our first game of 2010 but our last game ever..." I couldn't blame him but man Matt could be such a buzzkill.
Everyone put on their coats, and as they all turned to leave I called out "Hey guys, wait up a sec..." they all turned back curious to what I had to say.
"I don't suppose any of you know how to use IRC?" They all just blinked at me. I had to add "Well, like Matt said.. without you guys, I wouldn't have a party."

I also really appreciate all the feedback and help I've received in my homebrew projects. You guys have been amazingly helpful in keeping me on track and focused. I'm going to try to keep focused and keep producing, to be worthy of your help and patience.

When I was a young man, I had a scout ship,
And I lived the free life of a scouter.
From the twin stars of Aphor to the Aquila Rift,
I danced that old scoutship all over.
Then in naught-oh-fifteen, the Emp'ror said son,
It's time to stop scouting, there's work to be done,
and they gave me a cruiser, a rank bar, a gun,
And they sent me away to the war.

And the band played 'Fight on, The Navy',
As we boarded the Santa Maree,
    And amidst all the tears,
    The prayers and the cheers,
We sailed off for Bellephron III.

Well I remember, that terrible sight,
Of our proud navy cut down and shattered.
How in that hell they called Lagrange ten,
We were butchered like poor bloody cattle.
Old boney was waitin'. He'd primed himself well.
He battered us with lances, and broke us with shell.
And in ten minutes flat, he'd blown us all to hell...
Nearly blew us right back to Agrippa.

But the vox played 'Fight on, The Navy',
As we stopped to tally the slain.
    We'd lost half of ours,
    For a handful of thiers,
But we charged right on back in, again.

Now us that were left, well we tried to survive,
In this mad world of broadside and border.
And for nine minutes ten, I kept my boys alive,
While around us our numbers grew lesser.
Then a whole mess of Guardsmen stormed onto the bridge,
they shot the nav, Kelly, and the kid,
but for some reason, they just let me live.
Never knew there were worse things than dyin'.

'For no more I'll go dancin' my scouter',
I thought as I ran for the pod,
For a scout can't feel dread,
he's got more balls than head,
and that's one thing a coward ain't got.

Those pods that survived, I gathered to me,
and we left like a bolt from a barrel.
A dozen survivors of twelve million odd men,
The grand fleet of Admiral Karil.
And as we pulled into the Catan dock ring,
three from the Mada all started to sing,
and the thought of my boys had a terrible sting,
for not one hat lived through the battle...

Yes, but not as CPU !irONYnJloE. This name is restricted to Iron Quest and related matters, which I currently have no plans to resume.

More on topic: My best moments on /tg/ come unexpectedly. Out of nowhere, I see someone with a name starting with "Subprocessor", and I smile.
