    28 KB 420chan /tg/ OC: The Tale of Ollanius Pius Spunky !2qxbRqUP9E 12/29/10(Wed)05:54 No.13324552
Ollanius rang the power pack of his lasgun home and popped out from behind the cover he was hiding behind, firing a few quick shots into the dark corridor at the traitor guardsmen who were standing between him and his objective. He had somehow gotten separated from the main boarding party from the get-go on this mission. His regiment and several others were to board the ship and hunt down the Traitor and former Warmaster Horus. All Ollanius knew is that Horus had succumbed to some dark powers and turned his back on humanity. On the Imperium....on the Emperor.

The sounds of a fierce battle ahead reached Ollanius' ears as he charged down the massive corridor big enough to drive a tank through, pausing only to dispatch any traitors who stood in his way. As he neared the bridge, the sounds of battle became more and more akin to the sound of constant artillery fire. Warmaster Horus must be fighting the rest of the guardsmen already! Spurred on by the newfound hope that his task may not be impossible after all, Ollanius redoubled his efforts to reach his destination, the sound of his boots ringing off the metallic floor being drowned out by the sound of the vicious battle ahead.

Ollanius opened the hatch and ducked inside, quickly finding cover behind a ruined console. Peeking above it, Ollanius saw an image that made his blood run cold. Horus, seemingly embracing the Primarch Sanguinius. But the power claw that had torn through the Winged demigod's armor, dripping with his own blood told what was really happening. Horus withdrew his weapon with the sound of metal screeching against metal. Sanguinius coughed and fell tho his knees before Horus. The monster looked down at his brother with what could be interpreted as a mix of pity and disgust, before kicking him in the chest. Sanguinius flew down the flight of steps and landed on his back, at the feet of the Emperor who had just arrived. Probably mere moments after Ollanius did.

Terror and grief were quickly replaced by hope and pride upon seeing the Mighty Emperor in His golden powered armor. The power sword clutched in his hand glowed a bright red, then caught flame as the Emperor stepped forward. The Emperor spoke first, demanding an explanation for Horus' treachery. Horus, who had gone mad, began shouting that he was not the betrayer, that the Emperor, his father, was a fool and a weakling. Then the battle began. The sounds of the battle were deafening. The Emperor and Horus moved with blinding speed, attacking, defending, striking, parrying, blocking, and the whole time unleashing psychic attacks that caused the air to crackle with energy, and the smell of ozone filled the air. For many minutes the battle raged. The Emperor pleading with Horus to see the error of his ways, and Horus mocking the Emperor hurling insults and abuse.

Then it happened...the Emperor was stuck down by Horus. Sent reeling by a blow that had cleaved through His mighty armor and had rent the flesh underneath. The Emperor collapsed a few meters away from Ollanius, with the sound of a barrel of metal scraps being dumped onto the deck. Ollanius saw the Emperor's face clearly. His Emperor....his master. Broken and weary. In pain, and not just from the wound but from the betrayal of His most trusted friend and son. Thundering footsteps rang out as Horus approached the fallen God-Emperor. His mighty mace raised high, poised to make the final killing blow. Ollanius gripped his lasgun tightly...what could he do? A mere mortal...a guradsman against death incarnate. Not just a Space Marine, but Warmaster Horus. A creature so powerful that it had just laid the Immortal Emperor low.
    >> pt 3 Spunky !2qxbRqUP9E 12/29/10(Wed)05:57 No.13324570
In an instant Ollanius' mind was made up. He lept over the shattered console he had been cowering behind, affixing his bayonet to the end of the barrel of his lasgun. He would make his stand. He would do what he joined the guard to do. It didn't matter how large his foe was. It didn't matter that the weapons the monster wielded were each bigger than he was. The former Warmaster towered over Ollanius Pius, underscoring how futile this mere mortal's attempt at valiance was. "Keep away from Him, you foul TRAITOR!" Ollanius bellowed as he emptied his lasgun on Horus. Horus stood before him, fury in his eyes. Glaring at the foolish mortal who stood before him and dared to attack him.

Ollanius let loose a mighty shout as his lasgun ran dry, and he charged Horus with his bayonet. With all his might, Ollanius struck Horus but the effort was futile. The blade snapped like a twig against the black ceramite armor, not even scratching the paint. Ollanius knew this was it.

He's spent months fighting a grueling war in which his enemies are demigods allied with daemons, and now he's found himself in the closest thing to Hell he's ever known. Somehow he's survived horrors beyond comprehension to make his way to the very bridge of Horus' flagship. He saw a veritable angel call upon Horus to answer for his crimes, and he saw that angel die as messily as any guardsman. His Emperor lies mortally wounded and Horus, perhaps, has taken a moment to gloat before he strikes the killing blow.
    >> pt 4 Spunky !2qxbRqUP9E 12/29/10(Wed)05:57 No.13324573
His armor is weak by comparison, his weapon is no more than an annoyance to this monster. He stands before a being infused by the dark gods with incalculable power, that can and will obliterate his soul with no more effort than it would take him to swat a gnat. Nothing he can do could possibly make a difference.

He could run. He could turn his weapon on himself. He could give in to the insidious whispers that echo from the ship's corridors into his mind.

Ollanius Pius does the duty his Emperor requires of him. He will die standing, and holding the line!

Horus raises his power claw high above his head and strikes down. Ollanius feels the blades bite into his flesh and is sent flying back, landing before the wounded Emperor. Well, most of him. His body rent in twain, Ollanius raises his head to glance once more at his Emperor. To take in His glory one final time before death takes him. His eyes meet with those of his Emperor, who's own eyes are filled with pride. A single tear falls as the Emperor stands to his full height. The servos in his damaged armor screaming and grinding as he does so.
    >> pt 5 Spunky !2qxbRqUP9E 12/29/10(Wed)05:58 No.13324578
The sacrifice of this one guardsman has turned the tide of the Heresy. The Emperor stands before Horus who has fear in his eyes for the first time. The Emperor had found it impossible that Horus had turned wholly to chaos, and that he might yet be saved. Such delusions have now vanished from his mind, replaced instead with a rage that he turns manifest. Reinforcements enter the room just in time to see the Emperor unleash his final assault. The blinding light and deafening thunder of the Emperor's psychic attack strikes everyone in the room as they witness Horus being utterly obliterated from existence.

Ollanius Pius dies as the Emperor falls back to the ground utterly spent. The Tale of Pius is told with great pride amongst the guardsmen even today. He is their patron Saint. A mortal who stood fearlessly before a god, and bought the Emperor time. Time to save us all.

A few spelling errors but not bad. I'd change the "made his mind up in a instant" to "body all ready moving"
if the greatest hero and god had been struck there would only be action, defense of the emp. Would be the single most glorious action I could ever hope to perform, hesitation isn't even a option

Sigh, if only GW had kept him a Guardsmen.

I seems kind of familiar, a lot like another writefag that wrote something similar, I'll try and find it.

It's okay, you change your narrative position a few too many times in my opinion, not sure if you meant that on purpose.

First they made him a Space Marine then a member of the Adeptus Custodes. I'm sure he will soon be transformed into Roboute Guilliman who I trust you have accepted as your spiritual liege.

if I can offer some criticism, the narrative is a little... disjointed. Events are written so briefly and so literally that it really breaks up the pacing.

Horus couldn't look at Roboute who stood in the divine light, and is vain attempt to kill him merely knocked him out. But his presence gave the Emperor the power he needed to kill the Arch-Traitor.

It's mentioned in DH book about sisters. There's an entry about Imperial Saints and there a picture of guardsmen with a flag with his image on it. In the accompanying text, it is said that Ollanius Pius is considered a saint by the guard, but it's also said that there are countless versions of the story, so we don't know for a fact what he is. I'll post the picture as soon as I dig it up.

If there's ever gonna be Horus Heresy the movie, I want to see a scene where Pius charges at Horus, firing his lasgun in slow-mo, and getting torn apart by dark powers as he runs. Manliest scene ever.

Great writefaggotry. On the subject of holding the line, never forget the Praetorian 24th's defense of Glazer's Farm against a seemingly never-ending wave of Orks (the battle report was in the first copy of White Dwarf I ever read).

Men of Bakka stop your dreaming,
Can't you see their choppas gleaming,
    See their xenos pennants streaming,
    To this battlefield?

Men of Bakka stand ye steady.
It cannot be ever said ye
For the battle were not ready
    Praetorians never yield...

I read it as At the Gallow's End was playing (the old version, the most epic one) and manly tears filled my manly eyes.

Just a detail: according to canon, the Emprah was utterly mutilated when he killed Horus ( half-burned, one-eyed, without one arm and multiple organs, and his spine broken), so he killed Horus WITH HIS FUCKING BRAIN!
