55 KB Adventure Quest The One Guy in the Back !!h9orCabgkfk 10/29/10(Fri)15:22 No.12612753
It has been nearly thirty years since the great hero Finn and his righteous dog Jake united the various kingdoms of Ooo and cast down the Lich King and his evil army. The Cat of Approximate Knowledge, the Whywolves, and the Magic Man all perished alongside their ruler. The Ice King was one of the first to be killed by the Lich King, and a small monument stands in his former kingdom. Gunder took over after his demise. Billy came out of retirement, and perished valiantly. Marceline revealed her true nature of inherent good, and aided in slaying the Cat and the Whywolves. Now, there are whispers of shadow in the northeast, or someplace like that, and monsters have once again begun appearing. It is a great day to begin adventuring! Roll 1d100 and name the candy you would like to be made of. Highest roller wins.

    Forgot the descriptions...

Adventurer is your jack-of-all-trades. He can shoot a bow, swing a sword, or make a potion just about as good as anyone. You receive +1 to all Characteristics, and are proficient with all types of armor, blades, hammers, and bows. You start with the Wanderer trait, which allows you to go twice as long without food or water than a normal person. In addition, you can read any type of map, even if it's written in a language you don't know.

Rough-houser is the buffest, toughest, rowdiest profession in the land of Ooo. You love fighting with anyone and anything, and never really care what someone says if you know that you can beat them in a fair (or unfair) fight. You gain +2 to Strength and Endurance, but -2 to Dexterity. In addition, you start with the Candy Rage and Slice 'n' Dice perks. You start with one Candy Rage per day. With Slice 'n' Dice, you gain proficiency with all melee weapons, and a +3 bonus when using your chosen weapon (chosen at creation). You are proficient with heavy and medium armors, shields, and all types of hammers, blades, polearms, and exotic melee weapons.

A Magician is, well, a magician. He can cast spells, create things using magic, unlock hidden secrets of Ooo's past, and read any sort of scroll and magical tome. They are, predictably, rather fragile. The Magician gains +3 to Intelligence, +1 to Wisdom, but -2 to Endurance. A Magician starts with 3 spells in a day, and the Babel Boy and Craft Magical Anything traits. With Babel Boy, you can read any language, as well as able to read magical tomes and scrolls (Wizard only). You are proficient with light armor, daggers, staves, and light maces.

A Thief is a dastardly bastardly type dude, able to pick his way into any door, chest, and social situation. He is a silver-tongued devil, able to convince anyone of anything. A Thief gains +2 to Dexterity and Charisma, but -2 to Strength. They start with the Quick Fingers and Silver Tongue traits. With Quick Fingers, you can take half the time a normal person would take with any activity involving Dexterity. With the Silver Tongue trait, you can (once per day) convince anyone of any lie that you have told in the past 24 hours.

A Healer is the one person in all of Ooo who you should go to in any time of need. Whether your arm has just been eaten by a Grass Giant or you just need a few cuts sewn up, you can count on a healer to help you out. Healers gain +3 to Intelligence and Charisma, but -1 to Agility and Strength. They start with 3 healing spells in a day, and the Plant Lover and Endurance trait. With Plant Lover trait, you can tell what type of plant anything is just by looking at it, and whether or not you can make something useful out of it. Endurance allows you to go beyond the 0 hp death level, and gives you until -10 hp to survive. In this state, though, you can only cast healing spells, and cannot move without aid.

    Spell Idea
    "Teleport Behind"
A spell to teleport behind a target. Cannot be used if there isn't a back, and can only be used to get behind them.
Reasoning: We have fists. Getting close to people lets us use them. Balanced by no letting us do the craziness of a full on teleport spell.

    "Shake and Bake"
    Lets us make everything shake.
Reasoning: Knock em on the ass so we can stomp them. General utility would be neat. Could also cause explosions.

    "Bulk Up"
Makes us grow several size categories
Reasoning: GIANT MUSCLE WIZARD WILL STOMP ALL!

Well, Bulk Up and Enlarge Self are essentially the same, but the other ones are cool. I have, by no means, made the spell list definitive. It works like the D&D spell list; you select the three you want at the start of each day. We don't have to make the list for the first day right now. We do, however, still need a name. The winner thus far is Beowulf, unless someone rolls higher.

You begin... dancing? Ok... the Elder of the Soft People looks at you quizzically, then says that the village is under attack! The Peanut Brittle Trolls have come out of their caves and are about to lay waste to the town. They were probably attracted by the gold in the center of town...

You toss the soft person onto your back. Thankfully, you're wearing your armor, otherwise he would get hurt by your rocky physique. As you charge towards the town, you notice the pungent smell of spoiled peanut butter mixed with... fire? Oh, my, that isn't good. You come up over the crest of the hill, and see that one of the Soft Condominiums is already aflame, and the Peanut Brittle Trolls are moving on to the next ones. Actions?

You put down the Soft Person and cast Stretchy Arms on yourself. There goes your first spell use for the day. You charge down the hill on your now-stiltlike legs and confront the trolls. There are three of them, and they all look like pretty tough customers. They turn their attention to you, and the combat begins! Roll 1d100 for initiative!
