12 KB Guardsman Quest! Part 3! Uplifted Infantryman 10/07/10(Thu)14:07 No.12362034
    Part 1: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/12326310
    Part 2: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/12350366/

You are Sergeant David "Smoker" Hayter, member of the Jourian 12th Dragoons of the Imperial Guard. After surviving a brutal attack on your division by the nefarious Eldar, you began your quest to find humanity, and get off this mudball alive.

On your way you found Corporal Hal Emmerich, a member of your old fire-team before the attack, and Private Sheila Taggardt, driver of the Scout Salamander "Evaline". You then traveled to the rendezvous point, only to find several massacred bodies, which indicated that there were creatures other than Eldar on this forsaken planet.

After a while of traveling you received a vox from a Doctor James Higgins, who had two guardsmen in his care. You went to meet him, and as a result picked up Corporal Lucious Keldo and Private Katy Perry of the 104th Malconts.

You are just about to enter the town of Daybank, known to be a Chaos-held town, under the cover of darkness, in order to try and refuel Evaline.

    Let's Rock.

    >Corporal Hal Emmerich: An old squad mate of yours, you trust Hal to watch your back, and he trusts you with his life. Quite the bro, it seems.

    >Private Sheila Taggardt: Driver of the Scot Salamander "Evaline". Useful in that regard, and not that bad looking either.

    >Corporal Lucious Keldo: A fairly violent and suspicious man, but he can fire a Lascannon, so he's useful, at the very least.

    >Private Katy Perry: A very, very attractive woman, but something about her seems... Off. You're not quite able to put your finger on it though. Apparently a trained sniper.

how are we supposed to kill people without our cigarettes?
    >> Uplifted Infantryman 10/07/10(Thu)14:17 No.12362130
As night falls, you all get into position. Perry, scouting ahead, finds an abandoned building, and promptly sets up a sniper perch on the rooftop, and apparently can see the entire area around the promethium station.

You, Hal and Keldo move into position, being directed by Perry, and set up a defensive perimeter.

However, as Evaline begins to move into the town, Perry contacts you over the Comm-bead.

"Sir, I think I saw something to the east." She crackles. "It might be nothing more than a pet or something, but... I dunno. What do you want to do?"
    >> Uplifted Infantryman 10/07/10(Thu)14:18 No.12362145
    >I thought it was implied that we always have at least 10x as many Lho Sticks on our person than any reasonable person could ever smoke. Of course, you're David "Smoker" Hayter, so that won't stop you.
    >> Tripe 10/07/10(Thu)14:19 No.12362164
Well it might be a lure into an ambush or them attempting to surround us. If in fact the whole town is all chaosy we don't really have a chance of disrupting an attempted ambush with just the four of us I think. I guess hunker down some more and speed up the fueling proccess? Tell Katy to keep you notified.
    >> Reagh for the skies 10/07/10(Thu)14:20 No.12362166

Don't worry, Hayter is never without his cigs, even if he has to smuggle them in his stomach.

I want guns pointed eastwards. Something makes a move on shiela, and it's bound to get some holes.
    >> Tripe 10/07/10(Thu)14:22 No.12362181

"Perry, keep an eye on our East. Hal, you move round to keep that side covered. We might as well hunker down in case it's trying to lure us into an ambush." You speak into the comm-bead, alerting everyone to your plan.

"Sir?" Keldo speaks, his voice echoing over the comm-bead, the disgust clear in his voice, "I think I can see some more Slaaneshi bastards over this way. Should I open fire?"
    >> Tripe 10/07/10(Thu)14:26 No.12362218
Don't, no need in provoking them and having a horde of them rushing at us. Observer first, if they so much as breathe the wrong way towards us open fire. We keep this as a defensive action. Our goal is to fuel up and GTFO right?
    >> Reagh for the skies 10/07/10(Thu)14:27 No.12362232

No, Emprah dammit, we don't need the whole place on our heads right away.
Keep them in sight, don't fire unless you are sure they have spotted you. Let's keep this as stealthy as possible, until it's impossible.
    >> Uplifted Infantryman 10/07/10(Thu)14:32 No.12362263
"Keldo, do we WANT the whole town on our backs? We are trying to stay stealthy. An in and out thing, preferably without any gunfire at all." You tell him, sub-vocalising over the comm-bead to minimise noise. You can almost feel him bristling at the thought of not killing them.
    >> Tripe 10/07/10(Thu)14:35 No.12362290
Reassure him that they'll get their turn, but if we do it now we'll get wasted. Think about all the other heretics that will be missing a nice hole in their chest if he dies.

Threaten Keldo. Tell him to follow through, end of story.
    >> Uplifted Infantryman 10/07/10(Thu)14:39 No.12362326
"Keldo, you'll get your chance to kill heretics later. Besides, how do you think I feel? I'm not being allowed to smoke lest I set off the promethium." You growl.

"Sheila, how much longer do we have left?" You sub-vocalise.

"I'd say we have about fifteen minutes left before the tank's full sir." She replies over the comm.

"Sir, we have company. At least 5 hostiles moving in from the south. At least one armed with a projectile weapon, and at least 2 others armed with melee. Should I open fire?" Perry asks over the comm-bead. She's right as well, from your position you can see the outline of the small mob. As it looks like others may be joining them.

    What do you do?

    Can we make a diversion?
A explosion to the east or west, to divert them and buy us a few minutes?
    >> Anonymous 10/07/10(Thu)14:42 No.12362345

Jump out shouting "FUKKIN XENOS!" and begin firing in all directions.

Alternatively, look to the environment for any possible means of distracting the approaching mob. If that means doing it yourself, so be it.
    >> Tripe 10/07/10(Thu)14:44 No.12362363
So they're heading towards us then? I suggest Katy taking aim at the one with the projectile weapon or one that is apparently the leader. Have two guns set to that side, but have Keldo keep an eye on the ones he spotted as well...Once it's determined that they are definately heading towards us to attack us take out the leader and try to mow them down and suppress them....only do it if they are for sure heading towards us.

    >> Uplifted Infantryman 10/07/10(Thu)14:49 No.12362416
"Keldo, think you could make us a distract-" You start, but before you could even finish Keldo has opened fire to the east with his Lascannon. He seems to be shouting "Slaaneshi Bastards!" as he fires, though you may be mishearing him.

However, the mob approaching you remains undeterred, and has definately grown to about 15 people. There still only appears to be one with a gun, but the others might just be hidden in the mob.

"Perry, be prepared to fire on my mark." You say, as you level your Lasgun.
    >> Tripe 10/07/10(Thu)14:51 No.12362432
Well damn, wait until they're in your range and the synchornize fire with Perry. Where the hell is Hal anyways? Still watching that other area?

'Perry, you have the vantage point. Pick off leaders as and where you can see them!'

    >> Tripe 10/07/10(Thu)14:54 No.12362455
Oh right, Perry's shot should be priotized as

Tell Hal the shit is on, watch his ass.
Get the 'nades, gonna need them here.
Get that fool Kel- y'know what? Fuck him.

"Hal. Get your ass over here. I think we're gonna need another gun." You shout, before voxing to Perry.

"Perry. Open Fire." You smile, before squeezing the trigger to your Lasgun.

The smell of ionising air. The feel of the Lasgun firing. The familiar crack. You've missed this.

Your shot immediately downs one of the cultists, blasting off his face. A second later Perry picks off the leader, shooting them right in the chest. As they go down, you hear a moan. Hmm, seems like Keldo might have been right about them being Slaaneshi.

    >Giggling like a madman. You guys still haven't pegged it yet.

Is it just me, or does Keldo's behaviour seem a little Khornate? Intense hate of slaaneshis, rashly opening fire... hmmm.

But yes, we should attempt to kill anything we see that has ranged weaponry. Is there any way we can get more light? It might disorient the cultists, too.
    >> Effal 10/07/10(Thu)15:01 No.12362528

Are they still advancing, the rest of them? Does Perry see any other hostiles? If so, get Keldo to suppress them and get Perry back. It might have been a mistake to enter this town, so let's try to leave.

"Hal, go check on Keldo, and affix bayonets. This might end up close quarters."

"Yes sir Smoker." Hal says, before quickly Dashing over to the other side of Evaline. About 10 seconds later he's back. "Sir, you're not gonna like this."

"What is it Hal?" You ask, squeezing off another shot.

    "Keldo's gone."

"I just wanted to say sorry about making you shoot the last person from your company." You say, meaning every word.

"Okay... Well, if you want to talk about it later Perry, I'm all ears." You quickly go back to adressing the Lieutenant. "Lieutenant, may I ask for a sitrep, a status report and an inventory list?"

"Well of course. Each of us has out standard gear, unfortunately our lasguns are out of charge, so we'll need to keep them in sunlight once the sun dawns. By the looks of things, Keldo was disguising himself as a Guardsman, which would make sense why Perry wouldn't know him. What sounds like what might have happened is during the attack, Keldo took a downed Guardsman's outfit, worked out a few things about the outfit in order to make a decent enough impression, then aided Perry's escape with the hopes of meeting up with more Guardsmen and potentially killing more than the initial attack would have allowed.
