Hey /tg/ I was just reading through the new Dinners & Desserts book : Expanded Dinners

This new prestige food? Chicken in Garlic sauce, I have no idea what the fuck they were thinking. I mean Hot sauce, Garlic, AND optional lemon? I mean fuck, They should just hand the player a cookie of campaign-over.

Anyway I guess I'm just mad about it, General Dinners & Desserts thread?
    >> Anonymous 06/26/10(Sat)11:05 No.10754983
The 3rd printing was better than this new shit. More options and better recipes in general.
    >> Anonymous 06/26/10(Sat)11:06 No.10754986
    Which edition are you reading?
2nd ed Din-Des was just a solid carb power bloat imo.

vegetables at later levels paled in comparison to a good starch

Actually OP, I'm reading the newest one

    They gave Potato's daily powers

    I mean the fuck.

My potato doesn't need the ability to shoot long ranged spuds, It has one purpose only charge the enemy and take the hit for us.

4th ed simplifies the cooking procedure, and gives all classes utensils; it makes it more interesting. In 3rd ed, when you got up to Feast dinners, you just had master chefs running around, with the rest of the team useless.
If you don't like it, stick with 3rd rather than bitching.

Your trolling right? that's the wrong way to do Potato's. A potato makes a great side to any dish it is not main course standard.

I assume you were going raw potato as well? The best potato is the variant with butter and salt with that new ranged you can fill any monster just by looking at it.

But what about the Spudchucker paragon path for potatoes? It totally allows for a ranged Potato warrior who uses ranged attacks to stymie foes. Cuts from razor sharp chips, slowing their movement with mashed potato globs and even the daily of Spilled Gravy, creating a hazard zone.

Oh man, do I have a Dinners & Desserts story. First of all, our Chairman has a total hard-on for potatos, right? He's like the stereotypical potatofag - he has folders named 'potatogirls' and 'potatoboys' on his laptop, that we've never dared to open. Someone once said they saw him a leathery, dry Spudsuit at SpudCon but I refuse to believe he's that bad.

But anyway: mad for tatties, right?

So he says we're going to play a high level game (for once!) right? And he doesn't shove his stupid potato chef - NOT EVEN A REAL CLASS - DMPC who can cook everything better than us into the game either. We decide to go for the classic national party, right? We've got Italian, Indian, French and Chinese. Sure, a bit much and I decide to go Cajun because I'm a bit of a fifth wheel. We start the game...

Setting: Irish potato famine. All our master chefs die and we have to reroll level 1 Irish peasants with no cooking skills who only have access to potatoes.
    >> Anonymous 06/26/10(Sat)11:34 No.10755331
So, our DM is a faggot. Literally. We'd found out he was a processed meat dish from England not too long before he took the DM's mantle, but now... things aren't as awesome as they used to be.

For instance, many of the NPCs are now either dumplings or mashed potatoes, and are always sticking on the player characters. And the influx of gravy themes is overwhelming like players waking up next to stock cubes or opening a treasure box that is rigged to fire fresh frozen peas everywhere once opened.

I'm comfortable in my masculinity to let this slide, but honestly, what would you do when your quest reward is a cudgel shaped like spotted dick and custard?

I know they're grossly underpowered in the metagame, but I can't help always playing a Mac-N-Chesse dish. Say what you will, but the sheer number of available prestige dishes, multi-dishes, and optional spices and condiments always makes it fun. None of the other players are ever sure about what my dish can or can't do.

That's exactly the problem. 4e basically assumes that you use precooked dinners and freeform the cooking process. It also tries to homogenize the flavor by all means. I mean, what the hell? Pumpernickel does NOT taste like filet mignon, and shit twinkies are NOT a viable food class! What were they thinking?

2Gfag here, I have to say, I actually enjoy 4G. I mean, we had a couple of players who really enjoyed cooking, but hated all the complicated options for making dinner, they just wanted to sit down with an ingredient list, boil some water, and make some fucking food. 4G lets them do that, so I'm cool with it. Of course, I ban all wheat in my game, because I'm allergic to the shit.
